Batch transcoding on windows?

I want to reduce the size of my 6GB music collection, all coded in 320 kbps mp3, so that it will fit on my nano. I plan to do this by transcoding to 128 kbps mp3. The files are scattered in about 30 directories on my hard drive, but they share a single root (c:\mp3\320\*). I would like to make a duplicate hierarchy with the downsampled files (c:\mp3\128\*).
Is there a windows/dos program that can transcode a directory tree recursively, or do I have to learn perl to accomplish this?

If you are not going to rerip you could just use itunes to do this for you.
Set import preference to 128/mp3
Set iTunes music folder to your new location (c:\mp3\128)
Set copy music to library.
Highlight songs you want to copy and copy them.
iTunes will make a copy and put it in the new folder.
Once you are done you just reset your iTunes preferences back to what they were b4

My question is how is this transcoding handled in Windows 8(.1)? There is no transcode folder at the specified registry location.

    Hi,
DLNA uses Universal Plug and Play. According to UPnP definition, DLNA supports three type of devices :
Server: Acts as a DLNA server and connects other DLNA certified devices in a network.
Renderer: able to render media from another DLNA enabled device. (E.g. a dlna enabled TV)
Controller: able to control a dlna enabled device to perform different actions remotely. After the type of a dlna enabled device is detected, a layer of restrictions over the types of supported media file format, encodings and resolutions is applied according
    to DLNA guideline.
It is possible to make your Windows 8 computer a DLNA certified media server. Then it will allow you to connect any DLNA certified media devices to access the media files of your computer.
Please read below article to know well DLNA server how to work in Windows 8 & 8.1:

  • I can't open batch files in windows 8.1

I am trying to run a batch file in windows 8.1, when i run the batch file runs at first but closes so fast that you can't see its contents, you can't even see if its doing what you tell it to. Since the file does run but closes fast, i thought of adding
pause. Adding pause did not fix the problem. I am not sure if i have to change my keys on regedit, or i have some kind of malicious software  that needs to be fixed  ( I think i have no malicious software, i  have run security scan many times
nothing showed up, I had a Trojan horse, Trojan.Gen2, long time ago but the Trojan got quarantined?) I originally had windows 8 but upgraded to windows 8.1.
Help Please! I don't Know what to do!!!

    Hi Glogikon,
"I am trying to run a batch file in windows 8.1, when i run the batch file runs at first but closes so fast that you can't see its contents, you can't even see if its doing what you tell it to."
According to my experience ,it is a normal symptom .Did the bat file run well before ?
Have you tried to run the command one by one in the bat file from a command line ?Have you tried to run the other bat files which including a output to have a check ?
If it is possible ,please post the command of the bat file here .We will make a test for you .
To check whether the bat run well ,this link may be useful:
check if command was successfull in a batch file

We can try to work with the following official free tool to have a check .It is recommended to run it in a safe mode to improve the quality of the scanning.

I need to call the Batch File from the Oracle Procedure, Also I may need to change the content of the Batch File (Argument to the Java JAR File ).
I can keep the JAR FIle either in the Oracle Server or in the Application Server.
The Java program is to convert XML Format FIle to PDF and MS Word format.

  • Batch transcode of image sequences? Watch Folder?

I didn't see mention of this in the "what's new" information for Compressor 4, but 2 features I was really hoping for were the ability to batch transcode image sequences (e.g. DPX seqs to proRes QTs for VFX dailies) and some kind of non-kludgy watch folder setup. Either of these make it into Compressor 4?

I forgot to mention that after applying the action the comp is reduced to the background layer and needs to be saved as Flattened_00000, Flattened_00001, etc.
    Cheers

  • UUT serial number is not displayed in batch results popup window?

UUt serial number is not displayed in batch results popup window. I am using TestStand 2012 SP1 f1 (5.0.1.66). I am also using Prebatch callback and setting up
Parameters.ModelData.TestSockets[index].UUT.SerialNumber with the UUT serial number. I have used the exact sequence file with TestStand 4.2 (4.2.0.134) with no problems.

Sorry for my late reply I was away for work. I actually revisited the code that I implemented with TestStand 4.2 (4.2.0.134) and it is showing the exact problem. Sorry for misleading you. however the UUT report is showing the correct serial number for each unit. This would be something that is nice to have but not critical for my project. I am basically auto discovering all my UUT so instead of scanning the serial number I read it from the UUT memory so there are a lot of steps in my PreBatch call-back but they are all related to reading the UUT serial number. Once I read all the UUTs serial numbers I set the following in a for loop:
    Parameters.ModelData.TestSockets[Locals.For_Loop_Index].UUT.SerialNumber =StationGlobals.UUT_Serial_Numbers[Locals.For_Loop_Index]
I tried to implement my a simple PreBatch with only a for loop and an array of serial number and I ended up with the same issue. So I am suspecting that the batch report is getting the serial numbers from a different variable and that variable is set when you run the batch option without the PreBatch call-back.
    Kind Regards,

  • Batch transcoding for Blu-ray

    Hello,
We have many short ~2 minute files with long filenames (so they can cleanly be used to form the chapter descriptions for the disc) organized into folders and, as mentioned in another thread, we are having difficulties preparing these files in advance for Blu-ray processing for Encore so they do not need to be transcoded when we select 4-5 to author a Blu-ray with.  I tried to get around this by creating a massive project with all 500 of our files, using Encore CS6 to transcode all of them, then hoped Encore would know it transcoded that same asset in another project when we went to use 5 of those same files in another project.  Unfortunately, not only did Encore not automatically detect that it had already transcoded the file for Blu-ray in another project, but when we went to manually locate the file, we saw that Encore truncated all our filenames to 20 characters in the Transcoded folder, followed by "_sessionA_blahbalhablh.m4v".  Our filenames are not unique to 20 characters, so many filenames with A, B, C, D, etc suffixes were created and we have no way of telling what file is what.  We can't even play the file to check, and we also can't compare the running length as Encore transcodes to elementary streams that can't be played back.  Is there anyway to copy the transcoded asset knowledge from one project to the other so we can make use of the 3 days of compute time we appear to have wasted?
I've also looked into using Adobe Media Encoder to do this, but I think I'd need to take our files one folder at a time and run the transcode on them so they didn't get jumbled with the other files.  I can't see a way to setup AME so that it handles recursive folders, and I also can't see a way of working with AME through command-line automation so that it can whir away and process one folder of 5-10 files at a time.  All I can see is a way for it to turn out a similar output to our failure with getting Encore to transcode the files.
Any ideas on how we can batch-transcode for Blu-ray ahead of time instead of wait for Encore to transcode for every disc we build?

Encore is not long filename friendly, and will cause problems if you exceed an 80 character filename (Including spaces). Odd characters and in some cases excessive path depth can also be issues. The Encore authorcore (sonic based) is old, and just not modern filename friendly.
So I'd rethink the long filenames generally.
Ask your AME question in the AME forum. I do not know whether there is a good option for you or not.
hoped Encore would know it transcoded that same asset in another project when we went to use 5 of those same files in another project.
Encore creates a folder structure for the project, and under the sources/transcodes/ folders, a folder for each asset that is transcoded. As soon as you create a new project, all that is gone, and with it encore's memory for it. You can import those files as assets, but I assume your point is that you can't tell what is what.
We can't even play the file to check, and we also can't compare the running length as Encore transcodes to elementary streams that can't be played back.
The elementary stream is an m2v. You can play these (e.g. with vlc player). But all that would be cumbersome.
    Still thinking about this...

  • Encore Batch Transcode - Media Encoder doesn't perform

I use Encore to fit client video tapes to DVD. The 'Automatic' settings generate the best results by making use of the disc's capacity while maximizing bitrates. Encore does not have a batch option for multiple projects, therefore it is necessary to manually start transcoding for each disc project, save, open the next project and repeat.
My hope was to batch encode multiple video files from multiple Encore projects with Media Encoder, but it seems that Media Encoder requires the Encore project to be open as well.  Otherwise, the transcoding within Media Encoder stops when Encore is closed or a new Encore project is created / opened.
I find this to be counter productive, given that timelines in Premiere can be sent to the Media Encoder which frees Premiere to be used for other video editing. Additionally, Encore can not send a file Media Encoder without encoding settings being set witnin Encore - thus, I am not finding the advantage of having Media Encoder be a part of the workflow.
Aside from calculating the bitrates for each video file in the project and transcoding the files seperate of Encore, are there any suggestions to using Encore and Media Encoder for batch processing?
    Thank you in advance.

Agreed. My outreach to the Adobe community is to locate any alternate solutions I've not thought of. I'm sure others have run into the same predicament I have outlined.
I'm open to solutions that are not involving Adobe products. Although, the encoding quality from within Encore is better than most other stand alone apps available on the market. Thus, my desire to stick with it, if possible.

Edited by: Santosh Kumar on Aug 15, 2009 7:02 PMI'd guess a pathing issue. Your directory with rman.bat probably comes first in your path. The OP probably had ORACLE_HOME/bin first, so rman.exe fired. It wouldn't have been 'running forever' so much as it was wating for input that the OP never provided.
    Just my guess.
