  • Document layout changes when creating PDF

We have the problem of the layout/formatting of documents changing whenever we try to print to PDF from, for instance MS-Word.
We open a large document of lets say 100 pages in total, then when we choose PRINT and now select ADOBE PDF instead of the default Windows printer, then the document layout/formatting changes and now suddenly htere are only 95 pages.
It is aboviusly some font setting problem, but we have not been able to find a soultion ourselves. This issue also prevents us from using "create from multiple files" as we cannot trust the final layout (page numberring end up wrong in PDF file)
    Any input will be appreaciated.

Thx for the input. I am aware of the suggested workaround, but I was looking for at more "permanent" solution, as we need to combine 40-50 files for each job (Word, Excel...and more) and therefore we are trying to avoid having to go through all documents each time we need to convert to PDF.
    Currently we are :
    opening each document individually
    then selecting ADOBE PDF printer
    then checking document formatting/layout
    then printing to PDF.
finally combining the 40-50 PDF's to one PDF
This we have to do as we cannot trust the formatting/layout.
It is off course undesirable when we know we can combine Word, Excel files to one PDF in one "go" without having to open the individual docs. at first.
Surely, it must be some printer driver setup issue (using printer fonts, enabling/disabling bitmap fonts, use truetypes....etc)? we just can't find the recipe for this ourselves.

  • Document layout

When i change the document layout i cannot choose my customs, i tried choosing the different printers which enables and disables the customs. Anyways, when i choose another preset or custom size and click OK, it just changes back to the format i chose from the template chooser.
Am i missing something or is it a bug anybody else has experienced?
    Thanks in advance.
    Lasselukas

Yes, you are missing some thing, if I have understood what yo have written. The templates opens in the preset size from the System preferences or if you have created a custom template it will open in the size you created it in.
If you want to change the templates size you do it after you have open it. Beware that you have to do some reformatting too.

  • Batch and serial numbers in Crystal Document Layouts

I am attempting to write a set of document layouts using Crystal reports namely, Sales Order, AR Invoice (Items), Delivery Note. The stock items are either serial numbered items or batch numbered. I need to display the serial numbers or batch numbers on the Delivery Note, but cannot find a suitable link to the tables where the serial number/batch numbers are stored.
I have identified the following tables as likely candidates for use in the document layout, but cannot see how I might join them to the ODLN or DLN1 tables:
For the Batch Numbers OBTN; ITL1 and ILM1
For the Serial Numbers OSRN and views OSRI; SRI1 and SRI1_LINK.
Does anyone know or have suggestions on how to link these (or other?) tables to the DLN1? Thanks in advance
    David

From memory, the link needs to be to SRI1 joined on Base Doc Type, Doc Entry / Base Doc entry, Item Code & row / line num (for serial numbers anyway...)

    Hi Henry,
In order to do this you may try to use SortValue and Group feature in PLD, you can refer to SAP Note 917674, which is about 'Printing Tax Summary per Tax Groups on Marketing Documents', the steps should be the same but with different fields.
Regarding this function, detailed information can be found in session below:

  • Print Size - Document layouts

Our invoice and order paper is non standard. One at 11 inch the other 11.8 inch tractor feed multi sheet paper.
While it is possible to select the correct size in the document layout/or even create a custom size, soon as the documents print, the printer reverts back to A4 size.
Is there anyway to overide this? Seems to be windows that ignores the SAP Document size settings?

You can set pdf as your default printer. The setting of pdf-printer allows you "scaling". You can set it to 93-94%. Now the document will get "printed" as a pdf document and saved at a location you want. Then you can take the print out like any other document.
This is a way out only if you have pdf-software with you.

  • Install new document layout on customer

I've created a new Invoice document with document editor (new layout) in my development database. Now, I want to install this new document layout on customer database. How can I do this?

    Hi Fernando,
there are two ways to copy a document editing template from one database to another. Please see SAP notes 630326 and 600813 for instructions on how to do both.

  • SFP : Error in opening document (Layout)

    Hi All,
A SFP form was developed in Language "DE"; when I try to open the
layout of the SFP (logged on using EN); I get the error "Error while opening document" and the form is not opened. But when the same layout is opened with a logon using language DE; it gets opened. Why?
How to make it work in EN?
    Regards,
    Kanthimathi

    Dears,
you can solve this issue following instructions described in OSS note 1074025.
    1. Close SAP gui
    2. Check if process FormDesigner.exe is still running in Task Manager. If so, kill it.
    3. Delete folder "Designer" from location:
    C:\Documents and settings\<user id>\Application Data\Adobe
    NB: Path for Windows Vista
    C:\Users\<user_id>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Designer works perfectly
When you run again the Adobe LiveCycle, the folder is regenerated.
    Hopefuly it helps

  • Reformatting a document layout and its trouble

    Hello,
I have a 210 page document that is to be printed as a booklet. The pages are "facing" each other, meaning they are in spreads. The pagination for each page corresponds to the left or right-hand page meaning, in this case, the page number on a left-hand page is to the far left and, on the right-hand pages, the page number sits far right. All pages were made to print for a three-ring binder so all art justifies further left or right depending on the corresponding left or right-hand page. Nothing is centered is the clearest way to explain that point. One of the clients in Australia, who is using a pdf of the original document (the main client will not release the book in it's original InDesign form), wants to select single pages indescriminantly and  print them and is asking for a pdf of  pages in "non-facing" spreads or in single pages.
I thought it might work if I simply changed the layout to show single pages and not in spreads. Unfortunately, the program reads the single pages as separate pages thus placing the pagination to the right on every page. If I make a pdf of the new document, the page numbers in half of the document are on the wrong side. Does anyone have a workaround solution to re-laying out a spread document and keeping the page numbers for the left-hand pages to the left side?
Thanks, I hope that was clear.
    Eubean

What is the time size of the finished document, and wah t is the page size in Doucment setup? Is it set up as facing pages now, or do you have two panels on a single page? Are the pages currently in consecutive order?
If the file is set up as facing pages in consecutive order (readers' spreads -- what your reader will see when the booklet is finished), then you need do nothing more than export a PDF as single pages (i.e. don't check the spreads box).

  • Pages documents layout changes from Tiger to Leopard

    Hello,
Last month I finally upgraded from Mac OS X 10.4.11 to 10.5.6. I am still using Pages 3.0.3, but now I find the documents I created in Tiger, when opened in Leopard, have very different page breaks. Was there a font that changed that could cause my layout to go awry? Is there a way to restore the original appearance of these files, other than manually tweaking hundreds of pages?
    -Ken

And my question is if I installed leopard now, will all my files be deleted?
Not unless you perform an Erase & Install.
Do I need to back up all my music and pictures, and documents?
    No, but you should anyway.

  • Accounting Document Layout

    Hello,
Can any one please let me know, how to change the Layout of the Accounting document. In PO, we have certain delivery conditions and so the amount going to cost object is offsetted by certain statistical accounts. But the user wants to display the real accounts.
Is there any way (probably changing the Layout) to obtain the real accounts in the accounting document.
    thanks & regards

    Hello,
Are you comparing different type of billing document or are you facing the issue within the same accounting document?
I mean: are you comparing an invoice & a credit note looking two differents accounting document or are you looking within the same accouting document two items?
Is the profitability segment properly generated for the items you are checking?
Are you using a standard layout to display the accounting document? If yes which one?

  • Change of tabs in sales document layout

    Hello experts,
    I'm working with CRM 4.0 SP08
I want to change the order of tabs in the screen of sales document creation.
Do you know how to do it ?
    Regards,
    Juan

    Hi Juan,
I am not sure if I have understood your requirement clearly. But based on what I have understood....
You should be able to achive this via the screen sequence control mentioned yesterday. Orgnization tab is a SAP standard screen which you need to assign to tabstrip 1.
By default SAP has assigned 'General header'  (function code SALES_HDR_GENR) as the first tabstrip and if you assign function code SALES_ORGD  then the org data would be displayed as first tab.

    Hi,
    There is one more option
1.Open the PLD in the test database
    2.Go to edit-> select all(including hidden fields)
    3.Go to edit->Copy
4.Log off from test system(Administration-Choose company-select live database),log in live database
5.Open the corresponding documents system pld
    6.Go to edit-select all
7.In the properties window uncheck the visible checkbox(Under General tab)
8.Save layout as different name say <Test>
    9.Again open the layout <Test>

NB:Don't delete the existing fields, you should only hide them as mentioned in step7

  • Combining documents with multiple layouts into a single book for pdf export

I have made a series of documents that feature 3 different layouts, however I would like to connect all these documents into a book and then export 1 layout style from each document into a pdf to form a book. However when I go to the export book as pdf the option to select pages or ranges is greyed out and not clickable for some reason, does anyone know of another way to get around this short of exporting each individual document layout and then merging them as a pdf?

You need to set up the book to contain precisely what you want to export.
However, it is basically better to export single documents and merging them later as PDF, regarding colour spaces, page numbering, paragraph styles, page formats etc.
