Battery update with Leopard?

Hi. I just got my MacBook Pro replacement computer in the mail and it came with Tiger and the upgrade Leopard disc.
When I turned on the machine the software update came up and the battery update was listed. I did not update anything since I was about to load Leopard on it and then do applicable updates.
When Leopard was finished installing, software update came up again with several updates (remote desktop client, itunes, quicktime and OSX 10.5.1 updates). Battery update was no longer there.
My question is, is this update not needed under Leopard? Should I look for and install this update separately?
Thanks!
Rob

Going by the number of problems people report after doing that "upgrade" I'd not rush to find it nor apply it to be honest. If it's not listed as a Leopard Software Update then leave well alone ...

i will love you if you can help me with this
    thanks

    Welcome to the Forum.
It could be a faulty battery... I hope your MB still
    under warranty.
Technically all MacBooks are still under 1 year old till the 16th of May 2007. That will be the one year anniversary of their release:->
After that it will depend on the original purchase date.
Of course there are instances where the computer may not be considered under warranty due to accident and other sundry events.
Best way to be sure is go here and at the bottom of the page enter the serial number and see what coverage apple says you still have.

  • Battery Update 1.4 with Snow Leopard

I have updated my OS to Snow Leopard. I tried installing the Battery Update 1.4 but was unable to install the update. My current installed Battery Updater Bundle is 1.2. Thanks.
    Kelvin

I solved the problem in this way:
    - Install OSX 10.5 into an external HD (10.5 requires about 13Gb).
    - Upgrade to the latest 10.5 release didponibile (10.5.8 in my case) because "Battery Update 1.4" requires OsX 10.5.6 or higher.
    - Download and run the "Battery Update 1.4" and check that the Pack Lot Code becomes 0003.
    - Turn off your Mac and unplug the external HD. The next time you restart, the Macbook should go to boot on the inside HD and the battery's Pack Lot Code should still 0003.
I hope that this workaround, however tedious, might be useful.
    bye.

  • Battery update 1.4 won't install snow leopard

I bought a used macbook 2.0 2006 model. The battery in it was dead when I installed snow leopard. Now I have a new battery, but it will only charge to 92%. So, I installed battery update 1.2, which did nothing for the problem. Then I tried to install battery update 1.4 but  could not get past the install screen. Is it because I have 1.2 installed and should I go to system core service and delete update 1.2 then install  update 1.4

I have an update to my own post. Since I have a newly puhchased copy of Snow Leopard, I was able to call Apple tech support. Hear is what I found out from them. Battery update 1.4 is not compatable with Snow Leopard, it stops at Leopard. I still don't know why  update 1.2 installed.  I tried all the other things that Apple recomeds such as reset system management, zaping the pram and draining the battery.

  • Firefox froze with last update, I have PowerPC with Leopard on it, is there a download for older version

My tech told me to delete it and download a new Firefox and its 7.0.1 and it has a white circle with line through it. I noticed it says you have to have a Intel Processor, I don't, mine is PowerPC. Can I get a link to download the older version that will work on my Mac with Leopard OS. It was working fine until 9/16 when I got caught in a loop after the update and only way out was force quit. Each time I'd open, it would do same thing.

    http://mac.oldapps.com/firefox.php?old_firefox=108
I tried 6.0, 6.01, one of the 3.6's, 4.0 and a 5.0 and they all come up with the white circle and bar thru it. Someone told me to go to:
Firefox 3.6.x is the last version from Mozilla for PPC Macs.
    http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    For older Macs that aren't supported in Firefox 4 / 5 / 6 /7, try TenFourFox for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 .
    http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
    http://code.google.com/p/tenfourfox/downloads/list
and the tenfourfox will download but you can't get it out of the download folder to put in apps.
I'm fully confused. Some of them even though it says its a lower verson, when it finishes it says its 7.0.1. You would think that there would be something in there that would check, if there wasn't an intel processor, it wouldn't have downloaded and mess up my Firefox software so I can't use it.

Tried updating firefox but it is not compatible with leopard op. If I try to re-install the older version will my bookmarks still be there?

Current Firefox versions require a Mac with an Intel processor and OS X 10.6.
Firefox 16 is the last version that runs on Intel Mac OS X 10.5.
You would have to update to OS X 10.6 to be able to use current Firefox releases.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Call Apple to buy Snow Leopard. Make a backup, insert the disc and upgrade. Finally, open  > Software Update and install the latest version. Open App Store and purchase Mountain Lion. See if your programs are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com

  • Battery Update 1.4 installation on Snow Leopard

I've just been looking at Apple's support section of their website, and saw numerous updates, one was 'Battery Update 1.4'. The description of the update states: "This update improves the ability of MacBook batteries to maintain a charge when the system is shut down and not used for an extended period of time." This is a problem I've been having, as when I start up my computer after not having used it for a long time, the battery icon would say 97% and charging.
My question is, would this be installed automatically via Software Update? And I cannot install the update downloaded directly from the site as it says it requires Leopard 10.5.7, and I'm on Snow Leopard.
    Thanks.

Batteries will not hold a charge indefinitely. Without getting into the physics too much, there is always some low level connection which allows the electrons to escape. Batteries also wear out over time.
If you haven't used your system for "a long time" and you come back and it has a 97% capacity charge, that's pretty good. I think your expectations are unrealistically high.

  • Problem with PowerBook G4 Battery Updater

I hope somebody can help me. My Batterie do have 66% of its native capacity. I like to run the new Updater to optimize the capacity.
But I get an error if I start the Updater:
Your Power Supply must be connected
The updater don't start. But I have also connected the power supply.
    Please help.

This is the information to the Updater:
The installer puts the "PowerBook G4 Battery Updater.app" application into your Applications/Utilities folder. When I run the application, I get the following instructions:
The PowerBook G4 Battery Updater improves the performance of batteries that may develop short run times. The update process will take about 15 minutes and must not be interrupted.
To upgrade the firmware on your battery, read through the instructions below. When you're ready, click Update.
The PowerBook G4 Battery Updater is installed in Applications/Utilities.
During the update process your PowerBook G4 needs to be running, the power adapter must be plugged into a working power source and the battery should not be removed. Your battery will appear to have no charge and will not power your computer until the update process has been completed.
If the update is interrupted retry the update process again until successful. If you have more than one battery to update be sure to complete the update process before starting to update another battery.
    1. Click Update to start the update process. The status bar shows the progress of the update.
    2. Wait until the update is complete. When complete a dialog will show that your battery was successfully updated.
    3. Remove your battery, then put your battery back into your PowerBook G4 for it to be recognized.
    4. Repeat the calibration process for your battery, to get the longest running time possible.

  • Graphics update with OS X Leopard?

Does anyone know if apple plans on upgrading the MBP's ATI X1600 to something beefier with the OS release?

What I mean is will apple put out another new line of MBP's with better cards, once they're already shipping out a bunch of new MBP's with leopard.

  • Updating FREE version of iPhoto to work with Leopard?

Recently upgraded our iBook G4 to Leopard. Now, the System says iPhoto 2.04 (free version) won't work with Leopard. None of the iPhoto upgrades avalable (4, 5, 6) work as upgrades. In the iPhoto discussion, others said the only option is to PAY for iLife '08.
Is that true? I have iPhoto v5.04 on my PB G4, and it works under Leopard. I never purchased iLife.
    Suggestions, please

I don't know for sure about iPhoto 2's (in)compatibility with Leopard, but if that part is true, then you will have to pay for the upgrade.
iPhoto 2 is over five years old. Besides the fact that the current version is WAY more advanced, I have to say that any software that only makes you pay for an upgrade one time in a period of almost six years is a tremendous bargain.

  • HT3421 Battery Update 1.4 won't run under 10.6.8?

Getting the 'Service Battery' warning under the battery menu, noticed some have mentioned the need to run Battery Update 1.4 but when I try to I get an error that I need Leopard 10.5.6 or better. Guess SL 10.6.8 doesn't qualify as 'better'?
FWIW: CoconutBattery reports: "MacBook 4,1 43 months old w/ 263 loadcycles with max 22% capacity"

I also updated to SnowLeopard directly when it came out, and shortly afterwards lost my power adapter so didn't use my Mac for two weeks.
Today found the power adapter again (thank god, 'cause those things are expensive) and now my Macbook won't charge! I found the Battery Update 1.4 might help me but that one isn't working on systems running SnowLeopard...
What to do? I know since recently (There was a critical story in my local newspaper about failing Macbook batteries) that a lot of batteries of the late 2008 series plastic Macbook are failing on people and that you can only charge one about 300 times. That sounds so weird to me because that would mean I'll have to spend €139,- every year on a new battery!!! That would make my Macbook cost a grand total of more than €1500,- if i'd use it for about 4 years.. Now that *****! (excuse my language but I'm truly shocked!)
