BB Curve 8330: Silencing the ringtones on incoming emails.

Just got connected to my company e-mail.  However, I do not want ringtones on my incoming emails. I only want ringtones for incoming calls & texting.  How does one accomplish this?

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
On your BB, it should be called the Sounds or Profiles app...depends on BB model and OS level.

Good luck!

  • Assign ringtones to incoming email/text msg

On my LG Env I was alble to assign different ringtones for incoming email/phone/text messages.  Any idea how I do that on Droid 2?
    Thanks!

For the phone go to the contact, edit, scroll down to additional info, tap the arrow, scroll down to ringtone.
For text you have to have a 3rd party app such as handcent or chomp.
Don't think you can do it for email.

  • Keep my Curve 8330 without the data?

I've had the Curve 8330 for two years.  I just upgraded my teenager from a basic phone to a smartphone and "gave" him my data plan because I just didn't use it enough.
The problem is this.  I really like the Curve for texting and talking.  Is there any way I can keep it and just use it that way without the data plan?  I have fulfilled my contract.  Why should I have to give up the phone if I want to keep it just without the data plan?
Is it possible to keep my old phone?  I don't really like his.

If you activate a smartphone, you must have a data plan on that line.  There is simply no way around it unless the smartphone was made before November 2008.

  • No ringtone for incoming email

I have a ringtone set for incoming email but it doesn't activate when an email has come in. What am I doing wrong?

If you are truly attempting to use a ringtone for a text message notification then the problem is that ringtones are 30 sec in length.  Text tone notifications are six seconds long.  Try using one of the text tones for the email sound in settings/sounds/new email and see if that makes a difference

  • How do we change the code of incoming emails?

Prior to downloading the latest version of Firefox, we were able to access the code-changing service via the orange button in the top left corner of the screen.
The latest version has done away with that orange button and its associated drop-down menu, wherein we used to be able to change the transmission code of incoming emails to Unicode.
How can we change the codes now?
It is very disappointing that you make stupid changes without any notification.
What was wrong with the old orange button, that it HAD to be changed?
It appears that some ignorant newbie, who is unaware of what is really going on decides to make a name for himself, making cosmetic changes – simply for the sake of making changes!!!
Whenever changes are made, they firstly should be absolutely necessary; and secondly your users should be notified of the implications of any changes.
The current disregard of customers is just not good enough!!!
Since the loss of the orange button, we have been forced to perform the tedious, time-consuming task of editing each email which is to be stored, removing all the ASCI-type codes from the text. Previously, Firefox altered the transmission code on request – MUCH simpler & MUCH quicker & MUCH more convenient!!!
How are we supposed to get Firefox to do the change?? Pray tell.

Hi, I am sorry that you do not like the changes in Firefox 29. I would be happy to help you with the problem that you have.
Mozilla did not completely remove the menu function that you are talking about. If you look at the top left side of the browser you will see an icon with three horizontal lines. This has the same function as the Firefox button that you talked about. It is customizable and takes up less space when configured this way. That was the rational behind the change. From this point you click on options. After that it is all the same. I hope this helps. If you are really unhappy with the changes to Firefox 29 I wold recommend that you let Mozilla know. • How do I change the font on incoming email in Windows Live--it is too small in Firefox

I can change fonts in outgoing emails, and on website screens, but the incoming emails in Hotmail and Windows Live it is way too small to read. It is fine in Gmail. Can you tell me how to change this to a readable font. Using the Tools option does not work.

  • Is it possble to change the font of incoming emails?

My thinking is that on long email conversations, i'll be able to see what i have written by the font...

    Thomas A Reed wrote:
i should rephrase... is it possible to change the font of each emailer on arrival... to help distinguish people?
    No, that's not possible.
how odd, apple dictionary doesn't recognise the word 'distinguish'...
side topic reply. i'm not doing well on the 1st time explanations today, am i?!
it's in this box i'm typing in now, i wrote distinguish but this box that i'm typing in now, can't recognise the word.
in fact, ignore me, the apple dictionary doesn't kick in in this box, it's the spell checker for the apple website, and it finds it fine.
    ignore

  • HT201516 How do I silence the ringer on incoming calls in Yosemite?

Ability to call phones from my MacBook w/ Yosemite: awesome.
Getting the stare of shame in a meeting when my computer blows up because I can't silence incoming calls: not so awesome.
I've tried (multiple times) unchecking "Play sound for notifications" in the FaceTime preferences in Notification Center and that doesn't work. Anyone have any other ideas?

The only way to silence this is to kill the volume on your notebook or turn off cell phone calls in FaceTime. There are NO in-between solutions at this time. Hopefully Apple will address this as it is really annoying when you have your phone notebook AND an iPad around you . This can be QUITE loud.

  • Editing the subject of incoming emails

I would like to be able to edit the subject of an incoming post, and then save the edited version so that I can find it easier in future.
The subject often bears no relation to a mail's contents, and can be a duplicate or fwd with a subject which is completely off-topic.
Editing the subject and then saving it is possible with Eudora (I believe), but is it possible with Mail?
If not, how can I suggest to the Leopard team to include it as an option.
I don't care whether it is a regular feature or some kind of Applescript fix.
    Grateful for any ideas . . .

I swear that someday the lawyers will destroy everything that is logical in this country. I've been using Eudora for years and I can edit the subject line to reflect the e-mail's content to be relevant for ME, THE USER. The content can't be edited, so that should take care of any witch hunt that MIGHT occur someday.
I switched to Mail to use it with my iPhone, but this single bone-headed "feature" renders Mail useless for me. I'm afraid to use Entourage because who knows how long MS will sell & support that product? I don't want webmail, because I want my e-mail stored on my Mac.
What other options are out there that will work easily with the iPhone and fly under the lawers' radar?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rick

    In English: ;-)
Click on "Date" to sort by date. Click it again to reverse the sorting.
Or, in the menu, '''View|Sort By''' and select '''Date''' and '''Ascending '''or '''Descending '''as you require. You probably want '''Unthreaded''' too.

  • Camera Problem with Curve 8330

Hi - I have a Curve 8330 and the camera has recently started acting strange. When I look at the screen to take a picture, the image is "posterized" (ie, it looks like an Andy Warhol poster, with strange colors).
I can find no setting to fix this...I have also tried both a hard and soft reboot, with no luck.
When I take a picture while looking at the "posterized" screen image, it does not save it, even though I have plenty of file space left.
    Help! :-)

I am having the same issue as well (and done the same things), and have not been able to find anything either.  I am not sure if this is now a hardware issue and not a software issue.

  • Can I install BBM 5.0.0.57 in a Curve 8330 with OS 4.5.0.77?

I'm from Venezuela. I want to know if I can install with no problems in the future the new BlackBerry Messenger 5.0.0.57 in my BlackBerry Curve 8330. The carrier is Movilnet THANK YOU

I think they are preserved by the update, but I am no longer sure. I don't recall how your version of BBM works, but dig around inside of it to see if it has the feature for backing up the contacts (to your Media Card, for example)...if so, use that as a secondary precaution. No guarantees.

  • Can't get Desktop Software to link up with Curve 8330

All the following is from running Win XP in VirtualBox.
When I hook up my Curve 8330 to the computer via USB the computer recognizes it: I'm asked to enter the Cuve's password, the Blackberry Device Manager pops up in the task bar to tell me that the Curve is connected and I can even browse the device via Explorer, but when I open the Blackberry Desktop Software (6.1.0.35) it just endlessly says it's "Connecting" without ever actually connecting.  Also, when I hook it up, the Curve's screen very briefly goes to the white "Connected to Desktop" splash before returning to normal. Mass storage mode is turned on.
Please, if you have any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated; I've had some close calls recently and need to backup my numbers and data. I can't find any posts with people having similar problems.

    Hello Atimkelly,
First check your default services on the device under Options, Device, Advanced System Settings, default services.
If the default services are configured correctly I would suggest try creating a new MAPI profile as outlined in this article http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02083 and then reconfigure the Desktop Software as shown here http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB17022
    Cheers.

  • Blackberry Curve 8330 and Desktop Manager v5.0

I have a BB curve 8330 running the current device software, BB Desktop manager v5.0 and Outlook 2007 on Windows Vista and have just recently experienced problems syncing.  I continue to get an error message such as below...
Faulting application DesktopMgr.exe, version 5.0.0.11, time stamp 0x4a4bd539, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6002.18005, time stamp 0x49e03821, exception code 0xc0000374, fault offset 0x000afaf8, process id 0x1dc, application start time 0x01ca41d751046e2b.
I've tried everything I can think of from reinstalling DTM, previous versions of DTM...getting rid of the "intellisync" folder that others have discussed...scanning my PST and OST files for errors, reconfiguring the sync settings...all with the same result.  Everything is fine until it goes to read the calendar off of outlook and sync it...then it crashes saying the program has to close and windows will notify me if there is a solution....I've even tried running DTM with Vista's "Administrator" option and no dice...
I'm thinking this is an issue either with DTM or with the latest Vista Update (Windows 7 can't come soon enough!)....anyone else have any other ideas as to what this could be???

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
While you have tried many things, I cannot tell if you have tried this...so apologies if it is redundant in any way.
I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
    1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchornizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
    7) Start the organizer configuration over:
KB17022 How to configure organizer applications for synchronization using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Hopefully that will get things going again.
Good luck and let us know!
