when i display an bc4j uix edit form, i would like to set the cursor in a field and highlight the entry.
how con i do that

Login to portal with a user having content administration role.
Navigate to your iview which must be under content provide by SAP(if its a standard iview).
Open the iview and click on preview button.
Then press ctr on keyboard and rightmouseclick on the field for which you want to change.
A popup will open. Change the visibility in the popup and save the changes. This is a way of personalization and it'll be applicable for all the users. -

Once you select the 'Select tool' then any subsequent launches of the software should keep the 'Select tool' as default.
If not then you can specify the registry setting here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\11.0\Selection
Change the data of aDefaultSelect to Select or Hand as required.

How to show the default values without changing the existing code in the CO for the seeded page.
I have requirement like one drown box in that three values are there. On page load the item is empty , but i have to show first value as default value. Is this possible through personalization..

UmaConsidering you don't want to go for controller extension..
A way is to use java script in personalization.
Simply create a RawTextBean using personalization and add the java code to change the properties.
Java script plan:
Get the handle of the items to change (like here drop down)
selectTags=document.getElementsByTagName('select') --gives list of all the select tags in the page
get ID of the select tag whose value you want to change (loop throug selectTags array).
or get it directly by getElementsByName method or getElementsByID mETHOD.
Say its handle is changeItemID.
changeItemID.selectedIndex=2

I have created a page which is used to create the records by using "Add Another Row" button.

How do I set the cursor in the text response of a message box
I am using TestStand 4.1.1. During testing I need to scan in some data from the operator.
I am using a message popup with the text response box enabled. My problem is the cursor does not automatically appear in the text box at run time. I don't want to have to place the mouse in the box each time.
Is there someway to set the cursor to automatically be in the text box.

How can I set the focus to a field on a Portal form?
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to set the focus to a particular field on a form which was created in Portal and is based on a PL/SQL procedure?
The form contains a mixture of field types and also takes parameters from another form and displyas them.
I have managed to set the focus on a form which is defined dirdctly in a PL/SQL procedure, using Javascript, but this doesn't seem to work for a Portal form.Hi,

To give you some hint right now:
In the "Additional PL/SQL Code" tab, "Before displaying the page", add following code:

forms[0] if you only have 1 form, and elements[the number of the item you want to be in focus]

How to determine the cursor record count before the "open cursor"?
Is it possible to determine the record count of an explicit cursor without running a count()? Say, my cursor definition is something like this,

I want to log the count of records returned by the above cursor prior to the first fetch, without running a count(1) for the query in cursor select.
I know adding " Count(1) over(order by null) " in the cursor SELECT will bring it. But that does not help me log the record count to some log file or table before opening the cursor for processing.

Each select is a consistent read. Which means that if this is done as 2 select statements, the 1st select can see a different version of the data than the 2nd select statement. does. So if you want a count and that to be consistent and on the same version of the data than the select, it has to be done as part of the select.
Also consider what a cursor is. It is not a result set of sorts that is created in memory upfront - with a convenient interface that tells you the size/number of rows of that result set.
A cursor is basically a program that reads database data as input and produce output. A fetch from a cursor is an instruction for this program to execute and output data.
There's no data set that is created by the cursor from which the count can be determined. The cursor program does have state variables - like +%RowCount+ that specifies how many rows the cursor has thus far output. And you need to run that cursor to the end (no more output) in order to determine the total number of rows output by the cursor. -

Hi,
I have several input field in my MI7.1 application for PDA develop using NWDS 7.1 . Is that possible for me to set the cursor on the application. For example after user scan the product code the cursor will move to quantity input field.
I try use
IWDAttributeInfo attribute = wdContext.getNodeInfo().getAttribute("Name");
wdThis.wdGetAPI().requestFocus(wdContext.currentContextElement(), attribute);
but some how the eswt not supported.

I guess you are using the 7.10 SP3 SDN evaluation version, right? I am not sure if this is possible in this version. There was one bug available in the original SP3 version which has been fixed in a patch. I currently do not know if the fix made it into the SDN release. If you are using the proper version containing the fix, there should be a method called "setFocus" on the corresponding input field. To check it do the following: in the wdDoModifyView method of the view containing the input field, type the following line of code
view.get<name_of_input_field>ViewItem().setFocus();
This should do the job you need.
