BD from an image
I have a movie 720/25 created with FCP 7 and stored with the Final Cut Studio as an image (blue-ray). Afterwards, I wanted it as BD-R burn with Toast-11. Although the BD copy (and the original image, too) can be played well on my i-Mac, with the blu-ray player on TV it is not recognized. As if it were a file disc.
How do I properly burn a BD from an image?
Just to expand on Russ's response.
HD DVD was a format promoted by Apple and Toshiba. Toshiba made a player for it. However, the format never caught on (think Beta vs VHS wars) and Toshiba soon abandond the player and the format. The only place it lives on is in DVD SP and continues to cause issues for people who don't understand that BluRay is a completely different and non-compatible format.
Russ has you covered if you want a BluRay disk.
Also, if you want to create a DVD that will play in a standard DVD set up, you have to start over in DVD SP. Nothing in the HD DVD project you created is reusable.

Reading grayscale values from saved image

I've written several methods that crop, convert to grayscale, histogram equalise and then resize a colour jpeg image for preparing sets of images for a face detection neural network. The next thing I want to do is to write a method that allows me to read that saved grayscale images pixel values back as singular grayscale values from the RGB values that were used to save the jpeg. I used this code to create the 2D array of grayscale pixel values

Nickanswering this myself for those lost souls like i was a while ago:
the answer is very simple when you get to know it :) : use a signed type for your image. this can be achieved by using the Format Operator (javax.media.jai.operator.FormatDescriptor). an example as follows :

How to add layers from different images?
I would like to use layers from several images in a single image. The idea is to give an x-ray view so that you can see images of different views of an object by selecting the opacity of the various layers. It would be similar to an image of the anatomy of a hand: you could see just the skin, or just the bones, or see the bones through the skin. Is this possible, and if so, how?

How do I copy layers from one image to another?
I am editing figures for a journal and I need arrows for multiple images. Is there a standard arrow? I can only see free hand. If I use a free hand arrow I then want to copy it to the other images for consistency. How do I copy or share layers between images?
There are many arrows in the shape tool, or you can set the line tool to have an arrowhead in the tool options. You can copy/paste layers from one image to another, or drag a layer from the layers panel into the main image window of another image and then use the move tool to position it. You can also drag into the thumbnail in the photo bin, but you'll still need to bring the image up to adjust the positioning.

Removing keyword from multiple images at the same time
None of the documented methods seem to work for me.
1 Select all the images. Go to Metadata > Remove Keyword [my keyword] - the keyword is only removed from the image that is selected in the batch - i.e the one that has the yellow border round it to show it's the active image.
2 Select all the images, enter [my keyword] in the Add Keyword field when Keyword Controls is visible and press Shift + Enter - does the same thing as 1 above (removes it from the active image only).
3 Select all the images, Shift Click on the keyword that I have in my Keyword Controls in the Control Bar - does the same things as 1 above.
So all these methods, which are supposed to work, do not work for me. The removal of the keyword is only applied to the image that has the yellow border showing it to be the currently active image in the selected batch - the remaining selected imaged still retain the keyword. I can remove it "one at a a time" but it would be great if I could find a solution as to why this isn't working.
Any ideas?
If it helps, I'm running Aperture 3.1.3 in OS X 10.6.8.

AlanBased on the frequency with which this trips up users, the Aperture team is going to have to add a much stronger visual indication that "Primary Only" is active. Marching ants, anyone? Or a pink selection marquee?
At least in the Viewer when multiple Images are selected the thin white selection marquee is dropped when Primary Only is active. There is no such change in the Browser. -

I have noted the following strange behavior inside my Publishing enterprise wiki site collection. Now by default when I create a new wiki page and I add Pictures to it, the pictures will be saved under the “Images” library and will be inside a unique folder
that have its name similar to the page name.
But when users delete the picture from the wiki page or they delete the whole wiki page, then the related folder inside the “Images” library will not be removed. So can anyone advice if there is a way to automatically remove the page’s pictures
folder from the Images library when the page is deleted? as currently i might end up having many pictures inside the Images library which are not linked to a wiki page, and they will waste my server desk space...I think, not sure, there's no out-of-the-box solution in SharePoint for this problem. So I can only think of custom solution:
In event Receiver, ItemDeleting, you can delete images. The only downside is if some other pages are referring the images..... you need to check somehow which is quite time-consuming operations if you have thousand of pages in wiki library
A timer job, that will run periodically, every day or week, and clean all unused images.
Hide the default delete button and add your own. And then using your own custom layout page, show a 'configuration dialog' to user if they want to delete both page and images.

I cannot remove embedded barcode from the image. Due to saving compression.

Ok, for a start I will give some general description about the application I made.
I had some problem with the image being compressed while it is saved.
Because saving an image will cause it to compress and had its pixel valued changed, I could not successfully remove the bardcode that is embedded inside a image(although some of the pixel value will be returned to original normally). I had placed my code below and will accept any opinion that will help me solve the removal of barcode problem.
What my application does is actually very simple. It will take the pixel value of the area inside the image that will be embed with the barcode first, then it will take the pixel value of the barcode and use the formula (1-alpha * Image pixel value) + (alpha * barcode pixel value) = new pixel value which will contain the barcode that had been embedded inside. The formula works great but when I saved the image the pixel value will change due to compression. On the removal of barcode my application will read every pixel value from the image embedded with barcode (only the area with barcode embedded), then it will go on to read every pixel value of the barcode used for embedding and then use the formula (Embedded image pixel value - (alpha * Barcode pixel value) - (1 - alpha) = original pixel value. But due to the reason that compression will change some of the pixel inside the saved image to drop in its value, the result from the removal formula will be negative and hence caused my result image to become wierd as it will red colors instead of original color on some of its pixel. I tried saving under PNG format which people said to be lossless compression but the result is still the same.
So I need to ask you guys for opinion or help me find the part where I actually did wrongly and caused the image pixel value to change.

When alpha is set as 1 the barcode will appear to be overwrite onto the image. But when alpha is set as 0.1 the barcode will appear to be transparent and almost seems to be not there on the image when embedded.

As you can see from the link, after I remove the barcode from the image. Some of the pixel actually went back to normal in the barcode area when the the barcode is embedded into the image. But some pixel in the barcode area had its value changed due to compression when I save the image file I think.
Anyone can help me find out the problem?

Print out the color of a certain pixel immediately before you save it. Open the saved PNG in your favorite image manipulation program and check the saved value of that same pixel. When you re-load the saved PNG, print out the color again. It should be unchanged.

The alpha value i used in my application is used to set the transparency of the barcode that will be embedded in the image. Hence, when alpha = 1 the new pixel value should be the barcode value. ^^The formula isn't wrong, it's just not doing what you think it's doing. Remember that you're working with ints here, not floating point numbers, so they have finite precision. When you case from double to int, fractions are dropped. As morgalr pointed out, your formula is:
(1-alpha * Image pixel value) + (alpha * barcode pixel value) = new pixel value You didn't show us the code for getOriginalImagePixelValue but I imagine it's:
original pixel value = (new pixel value - alpha * barcode pixel value) / (1 - alpha)On a piece of paper, take alpha = 0.9, image pixel = 17 and barcode pixel = 100. Calculate out what you should get for new pixel value and then calculate what you should get for original pixel value. You will find they don't match. -
How can you find out an individual image size from multiple images on a canvas
This is probably a really really simple question but I can't for the life of me find how I can find out an individual image size from multiple images on a canvas. eg I have 3 photos i want to arrange 1 large and the other two next to it half the size. How can I edit individual image size on the canvas as when I select the image on a sperate layer I want to resize it just resizes the entire canvas and not the individual image
ThanksI want to know they exact dimensions though. You can get them by dragging to the 0,0 corner and then reading off of the ruler scale on the sides but its fiddily as you have to zoom right in and work it out. I know in photoshop there is a ruler but is there any other way in Elements?

I've been burning DVD's from disc images using Encore 1.0 for some time now. ever since I upgraded to 2.0, Encore gives me error messages on my project like:
"first play not set" and
"remote control problem".
I don't see how these messages can appear when I'm using a disc image (i.e. a completed project) as the source. does anyone know?When you click on the Build DVD button in the Disc panel, Encore does a quick check of errors
in the current project. If you have a new, empty project, you will at least get errors about First Play and Title Remote. Those errors have nothing to do with your disc image, they apply to the current project, from which you are trying to burn your disc image.
These errors may be safely ignored, since they don't have any effect on your disc image.

one can assume that you are not very experienced with DW or
even with HTML.
In that case, the practical answer to your question would be
"no".
To create a 'drop-down' menu, you need to have a full web
page (not just an
image with image maps), containing a menu HTML structural
element. While
you *could* just place hidden elements on the page that would
only be
revealed (i.e., drop-down) when your image maps are rolled
over, the
practical reality is that this would be an extremely awkward
construct, and
not only most likely beyond the ken of someone who is
inexperienced, but
also just plain 'not right'.

I am using Lightroom 4.3 on Windows 7 pc. I have a collection with approximately 650 images. I was working in the collection and had all the images selected. Somehow I inadvertently must have hit a keyboard shortcut that effected all the images. All of the images are negatively effected and they now look terrible. When I go to the History Panel, all the images have "blue filter" as their most recent entry. If I select one image and go back to the step before the "blue filter" everything looks fine again. My problem is I have this effect in 650 images. When I try and do the change in one image and then synch to the rest, I don't know what box to check to remove this "blue filter" that has been added to all the images. I know I can do them one by one, but with 650 images, it's a long and tedious process. Any way I can remove the "blue filter" from multiple images in a collection?

Matthew KrausIf you’ve just done it, then an Undo operation would reverse things on all the images, I think. But if it took you a while to see the problem, then you might have done something to cancel the undoability.
Isn’t Blue Filter a built in LR preset that modifies the HSL settings: http://kb2.adobe.com/community/publishing/924/cpsid_92473.html
Open the HSL panel and step back into History on one of the affected images so the effect of the Blue Filter preset has been undone and notice what HSL sliders change, and then if the 650 images DON’T already have any HSL adjustments you should be able to sync JUST the pre-Blue-Filter HSL adjustments (perhaps all zeros) to the other 650 images. -
Is there a fix to upside down text from EMF images
The text from an EMF image is being flipped upside down during the conversion from word to PDF when using the acrobat add-in. I hope you can see from the images. However, when using the acrobat print drivers, the text from the EMF converts just fine. Unfortunately, you can't use the auto create bookmarks feature this way. What is causing the text from EMF files to be flipped upside down? Is this a bug? Has this been reported yet?
That is really strange. It appears you are using OFFICE 2007 or 2010. There are some issues with MS, but this one is weird. Check that you are using the same job settings for both cases. You are using high-quality-print for PDF Maker. It might be worth checking the print with the same job settings. I am not proposing a solution, but some trouble shooting to be done. Also, please indicate the versions of WORD and Acrobat that you are using.
If you have a way to try a different vector format other than EMF, that might give you some idea of where the problem lies. -
How to create a pdf file from multiple images ?
Dear All,
I want to create a SINGLE page pdf file from two or more page size images that are combined to make a single page pdf. Again, this question is on pdfs that are made out of several, atleast two color images and a black-and-white mask for one of them.
I have such pdf files from an unknown source (the producer is edited out) whereby there are three tiff images, obtained using the well known pdfimages extractor.
When I want to make a pdf out of tiff or png or other image formats, I right click and tell Adobe Acrobat to make a pdf.
However, I dont know how I can give a command to select say, three tif images and specify which is the mask for which and then join them in a way that I get the pdf from the composite of the two color images and a mask for one of them.
Please help me out.
I am a little familiar with the pdf structure skeleton and when necessary, fixed xref tables in one of my favorite editors. A few years ago, I also wrote a bunch of javascripts to make some annotations and needed some automation and used some itext type libraries. However, I need your help in this problem as I am now rusty and forgot some of what I studied to solve my earlier problems. This is a new problem for me. Gentle hints from you would be very nice to help me in this problem. Please specify if necessary what manual and pages to read. in the pdfspec.

I would gladly mention that I am working on windows platform, preferably XP.
I can also work on linux for free products that come with it.

Well, just add the few pdf stanzas since you are proficient on it and

Well, ascii format or uncompressed format that is human readable. I
know its a binary file, but human readable ascii version of it.
I hope you can give me some stanza and various other approaches
possible so I can select or combine things for myself. I see only a
miniscule number of posts claiming to have written masks in this forum
and then with no details.

IDVD is stripping most color from my images in my slideshow. Please help!
I have received so much help from this forum....
I am running iDVD 7.1.2 and Mavericks 10.9.5.
So I started an iDVD project about 18 months ago on a different computer.
I saved the project to an external HDD so I could move it from an iMac with a bad DVD drive to a MacBook with an awesome superdrive. This has always worked for me.
But I don't think think that information affects my current problem.... just tossing it out there because sometimes information we don't think is relevant is certainly relevant to a knowledgeable person!
Fast forward 18 months or so. I open the project on another computer, but iDVD is stripping all but the brightest colors from the images in my slideshow.
Is this a Mavericks thing?
I have tried, in numerous variations, even to the point of starting a completely new DVD project and dropping the images into the app..... still the same problem: all the images are mostly black and white (or gray tones at best), with the occasional colored brightest elements from the original photo. (It's a cool effect, just not appropriate or desirable for this particular project.)
I have tried the project on different computers, both with opening a new project and with building a new project. It just doesn't matter. The slideshow images lose color. Except, an interesting caveat is that if I pause the playback, click the previous slide button, then play: the image has full color again. But subsequent images are again B&WwC.
I figure it must be something awry with the settings in Wirecast.....

In what kind of format is Your photos ? .jpg, .tif, .bmp else
What size are they ?
How many ?
How many slideshow set's ?
You are aware of the 99 photos per serie limit. And 99 series/chapters limit per DVD disk ( not iDVD but DVD-Standard in general ).

Scrip Error when Action invoked from Bridge Image Processor
I am running Photoshop CC and while I can create a new simple Action and execute it successfully, if the same Action is invoked from the Image processor in Bridge, the Action fails witha script error and messaeg "Sorry, I could not proecess the following file: xxxxxxxxxxxx" In CS6 this used to be related to History entry size but it is not the same in CC. I can execute other actions but NOT the one I just created, no matter how simple it is. Help!
After renew settings in preferences the basic set from PS is active. Go trough it and look around what you can use, explore it.
Most important is scratch disk setting, ammount of RAM and I find it useful to change the cursor setting to the last checkboxes.
Read the manual that came with your copy and or try one of the thousands tutorials that are available either free or for sale. There are very good DVD's that shows you the screen from the teacher on your own screen and so you can see what he or she does. Total Training is a good start but there are others.

IMovie to DV image breakup problems.
When I download a finished iMovie back to tape, I get a vertical pixe lated band on the left side of image and video noise over the entire image. This band is highly broken up into pixels making the video unwatchable. I am working in widescreen mode.
