BEA MS Sql server which driver to use?

We have BEA weblogic 8.1 and want to work with sql server Which driver
shoudl we use ?
i believe driver is deprecated
Bea talks about the new driver
"WebLogic Server 8.1 SP1 includes a new JDBC driver from BEA for connecting
to a Microsoft SQL Server database. The BEA WebLogic Type 4 JDBC MS SQL
Server driver replaces the WebLogic jDriver for Microsoft SQL Server, which
is deprecated. The new driver offers JDBC
3.0 compliance, support for some JDBC 2.0 extensions, and better
performance. BEA recommends that you use the new BEA WebLogic Type 4 JDBC MS
SQL Server driver in place of the WebLogic jDriver for Microsoft SQL
Server."
Do we have to install sp1 or sp2 to work with this driver. How can we get
sp1 ,
Thanks,

Where did the Driver file place?
You can copy the driver file to the JAVA_HOME/lib
folderDo not put that JDBC JAR in JAVA_HOME/lib.
You should put it someplace close to your app and add it to the CLASSPATH when you compile and run?
Geez, doesn't anybody think about a standard directory structure to use for their apps? Put it in a /lib directory with the rest of your app stuff. - MOD

    Here is another.

    The JDBC 3.0 driver will work in a JDBC 2.0 environment (i.e with J2SE 1.2 or 1.3)
    provided you use only JDBC 2.0 features of the driver

  • Connecting Oracle to MS SqlServer using Microsoft SQL Server ODBC Driver

    Hello,
    I have just downloaded the newly released Microsoft® SQL Server® ODBC Driver for Linux and trying to configure it to connect to SqlServer Database from Oracle using DG4ODBC

  • Problem using MS SQL Server JDBC Driver

    I am trying to use MS SQL Server JBDC driver with JDeveloper9i. I followed the steps mentioned in the document
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/howtos/bc4j/bc_psqlserverwalkthrough.html
    Still I am getting the following error message
    Error initializing data-source 'SQLTestDS': DriverManagerDataSource driver 'com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver' not found
    What could be the reason?Did anybody run into similar issue?
    Thanks in advance.
    RC

    I assume from your message that you are attempting to
    deploy your application into OC4J - you're probably
    implicitly using the inbuilt OC4J if your using JSPs.
    If so, try placing the jdbc jars into the <JDEVHOME>\lib directory
    and referencing them from the j2ee\home\application.xml
    file:
    use lines like:
    <library path="../../../lib/msbase.jar" />

  • Error Using the SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC Service Pack 3

    Hi,
    Im using the SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC Service Pack 3. The connection is succesfully, but when I use de statement.executequery() method, there is the follow exception:
    java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC][SQLServer]Invalid object name 'PEC_COUNTRY'.
    This is my code:
    ResultSet resultSet;
    Statement statement;
    Connection connection;
    Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver").newInstance();
    connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://S0MALMUERTA:1433;user=sa;password=");
    statement = connection.createStatement();
    resultSet = statement.executeQuery("SELECT COY_INX, COY_NAME, COY_ICO FROM PEC_COUNTRY
    ");When I make the last instruction, occurs the above exception
    Thanks in advance
    Luija

    The way you are connecting, the default database used will be 'master' and i guess that the table PEC_COUNTRY was defined in another database.
    If it is the case you need to specify the database name.
    connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://S0MALMUERTA:1433;DatabaseName=yourdb;user=sa;password=");

    I have a requirement of analyzing the behavior of SQL Server JDBC data sources for XA transactions in our application.We have been using Non-XA drivers for both Oracle and SQL Server as we had no requirement for transactions spanning across multiple databases in past.I have setup and tested the XA driver for Oracle (Oracle Driver (Thin XA) for Instance Connections 9.0.1,9.2.0,10,11) in Weblogic 11g and its working perfectly for transactions spanning across two databases.No when I am trying to configure weblogic 11g R1 for Sql server JDBC driver to support XA transactions with driver details as follows,

    Can some one please provide some input on whats causing this and any other steps needs to be followed to implement XA support using SQL Server JDBC driver.

    You seem to have done everything correctly and diligently. I would ask that you open
    an official support case.

  • Microsoft SQL Server JDBC driver and WLS JMS problem?

              Greetings,
              I'm using the Microsoft SQL Server JDBC driver with WLS with JMS

              java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC]ResultSet can
              not re-read row data for column 1.
              If the tables are not present, then WLS creates them and
              everything proceeds fine. Now, its not a good thing to attempt
              to reread row data for a ResultSet, especially for portability. Why is WLS JMS
              doing this? is there some config I can use to adjust JMS startup behavior for
              persisted JMS stores?

              Tom,
              thanks for the info, I'll bring this to support.
              I did try the weblogic jDriver for SQL Server and it works fine, so i think it
              must be the way JMS is interacting with the MS driver.
              here are my components:
              WLS 6.1sp1
              Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2000 Driver for JDBC™ is a (Type 4 JDBC) which provides
              partial JDBC 2 support (no blobs, clobs, etc)
              MS SQL Server 2000 (sp2?)
              thanks!

  • IDM 7.2 under Windows Server 2008 R2 (SQL Server ): Which NTW ? Which JVM ?

    Hello,
    We are installing IDM 7.2 under Windows Server 2008 R2 using the database SQL Server 2008 R2.
    1/ Which NetWeaver should we use to install the Java Application Server (NTW 7.3 or NTW 7.2)?
    Using install guides 7.2rev8, we tried NTW 7.3 but it comes with JVM 1.6 that isn't supported, according to the PAM.
    Should we install the AS Java with NTW 7.2 that comes with JVM 1.5 (JVM 1.5 being supported)?
    2/ Has someone installed IDM 7.2 under Windows Server 2008 R2 (SQL Server)?
    If yes, which NTW was used (7.2 or 7.3)? Which JVM was used (1.5 or 1.6)? Which JDBC drivers (1.2 or 3)?
    Thanks a lot for your replies,
    Regards.

  • JSP, Sql Server 2000 Driver, classpath

    Hello All,
    I've got a really weird problem here.
    I want to connect a JSP page to a SQL Server 2000 database.
    I downloaded the SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC, and it seems to have installed fine.
    Next I write a regular java program to test the connection. It works fine, I get a "Connection Successful message". Here' the code:
    import java.sql.*;
    public class MSSqlServerJDBCTest {
        public static void main( String args[] ) {
            Connection conn;
            if ( args.length != 3 ) {
                System.out.println( "Usage: java MSSqlServerJDBCTest "
                    + "<server> <username> <password>" );
            } else {
                try {
                    String serverName = args[ 0 ];
                    String userName = args[ 1 ];
                    String password = args[ 2 ];
                    String connStr = "jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://"
                        + serverName + ":1433";
                    Class.forName( "com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver" );
                    conn = DriverManager.getConnection(
                        connStr, userName, password );
                    System.out.println( "Connection successful" );
                    conn.close();
                catch ( SQLException e ) {
                    System.err.println( "SQL Exception: " + e.getMessage() );
                catch( ClassNotFoundException e ) {
                    System.err.println( "SQL Server JDBC Driver Not Found!!" );
    }Now, when I include similar into a JavaBean, which is used in a JSP, I get a classNotFound exception:
    Exception occured: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriverSo then I checked out the classpath a few times using echo %classpath%
    Everything seemed okay, the driver jars are in the path, but the JSP can't find the driver.
    I looked at the System.out file in the j2sdkee1.3.1\logs..... directory.
    The start of the file contains this stuff:
    Logging for J2EE Server Version: 1.3.1-b17 started at: Fri Nov 08 17:31:53 GMT 2002..
    Using the Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM and the version number 1.3.1_02 from Sun Microsystems Inc..
    VM is using the classpath: c:\j2sdkee1.3.1\lib\system\cloudscape.jar;c:\j2sdkee1.3.1\lib\system\tools.jar;c:\j2sdkee1.3.1\lib\cloudscape\RmiJdbc.jar;c:\j2sdkee1.3.1\lib\cloudscape\cloudclient.jar;c:\j2sdkee1.3.1\lib\classes;c:\j2sdkee1.3.1\classes;c:\j2sdkee1.3.1\lib\j2ee.jar;c:\j2sdkee1.3.1\lib\toolclasses;c:\j2sdkee1.3.1\lib\j2eetools.jar;c:\j2sdkee1.3.1\lib\locale;;c:\jdk1.3.1_02\lib\tools.jar;c:\j2sdkee1.3.1\lib\jhall.jar .
    J2EE Home Directory has been set to: c:\j2sdkee1.3.1.Look at the classpath - its different from when I do an echo %classpath% from the command line. Notice also it DOESN'T contain the driver jars that I need. This is probably why I can connect from a regular java program, but not from within J2EE.
    So where does this leave me? How can I change the classpath so that the changes are seen from within the J2EE container?
    Please help,
    Thanks in advance,
    Ruzer

    I modified the C:\j2sdkee1.3.1\bin\userconfig.bat file with the line:
    set J2EE_CLASSPATH=c:\sqldriver\msutil.jar;c:\sqldriver\mssqlserver.jar;c:\sqldriver\msbase.jarI had to change the location of the MS SQLServer 2000 driver cos J2EE.bat wouldn't start with the original location. I don't think it liked the spaces.
    Now I get a different exception:

  • SQL Server JDBC Driver Login

    Hi,
    I'm using the SQLServer JDBC driver that was bundled with Java Studio Creator 2 Update 1, which are: smbase.jar, smutil.jar, and smsqlserver.jar. When trying to connect to SQL Server using Windows Authentication Mode, I kept getting the following connection failure status:
    [SQLServer JDBC Driver]A username was not specified and the driver could not establish a connection using type 4 integrated security: C:/Program Files/Sun/Creator2_1/rave2.0/core/JDBCDriverLogin.conf (No such file or directory).
    It seems that a JDBCDriverLogin.conf file was not provided with the bundled download from Sun. Please provide an example of JDBCDriverLogin.conf, or other suggestion.
    I was able to connect using SQL Server Authentication Mode, but would like to use the Mixed Mode feature where either Windows Authentication or SQL Server Authentication could be used.

    JDBCDriverLogin.conf is the Configuration file that instructs the driver to use the Kerberos login module for authentication
    ALso, check out this FAQ, it could apply to you:

  • Loading SQL SERVER JDBC Driver - problem

    Hi!
    I want my application to use SQL Server instead of MS Access it currently uses.
    I downloaded MS SQL Server 2000 driver for JDBC and trying to connect with it, using
    Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver");
    I set up CLASSPATH system variable to include required .jar's, as driver HELP says.
    Still I have an exception from Class.forName(), which cannot probably find this driver.
    I've tried to find out about this in different web sites, but could not figure out what I am missing... Should I import anything, link some libraries or what?
    I just took a course on Java Enterprise, although I have 15 years in C etc. I would appresiate any answers or hints where to look for a problem.

    Depends on the kind of app that you're running.
    I don't have a system CLASSPATH set up at all. The harm of it is that folks can have a false sense of security when they set it. If the app they're using ignores the system CLASSPATH, as Tomcat, Eclipse, JBuilder, and others seem to, they can waste a lot of time scratching their heads over CNF Exceptions when their CLASSPATH appears to be 'set'.
    If you're running a desktop app, I'd recommend invoking it like this:
    java -classpath jar1.jar;jar2.jar YourAppwhere the path to each JAR is separated by a semi-colon if you're using Windows.
    If you're running a Web app (e.g., on Tomcat), you'll have to put the JDBC JAR where the container needs to find it. The Tomcat docs say that JDBC JARs go in the TOMCAT_HOME/common/lib directory.
    Send more detail about exactly what you're doing. - MOD

But with the new driver it no longer works. Its throwing errors. Can anyone help? I have tried removing the begin/end statments and that causes a different error to be thrown.
    Statement s = db.createStatement();
    s.addBatch("Begin");
    s.addBatch("use master");
    s.addBatch("EXEC sp_addlogin '" + login +"','" + loginAuth + "','testDB'");
    s.addBatch("use testDB");
    s.addBatch("EXEC sp_grantdbaccess '" + login + "' , '" + login + "'");
    s.addBatch("End");
    s.executeBatch();

    I have been using the jdbc bridge and recently
    upgraded to the sql server 2000 driver. i think you maybe are sol...
    Statement s = db.createStatement();
    s.addBatch("Begin");
    s.addBatch("use master");
    s.addBatch("EXEC sp_addlogin '" +
    p_addlogin '" + login +"','" + loginAuth +
    "','testDB'");
    s.addBatch("use testDB");
    s.addBatch("EXEC sp_grantdbaccess '" +
    ntdbaccess '" + login + "' , '" + login + "'");
    s.addBatch("End");
    s.executeBatch();the documentation from microsoft reads...
    for both CallableStatement and PreparedStatement
    void addBatch (String)
    Not Supported
    Throws "invalid method call" exception.
    is this the error you are seeing?

    MessageText = Data source name not found, and no default driver specified
    To make my connection i use next attempts for connection string:
    //char constring[200]="Driver={Microsoft Server ODBC Driver 1.0 for Linux};Server=ARTPK2\\SQLEXPRESS2;Database=Kurs;Uid=sa;Pwd=2ef5Fese";
    //char constring[200]="Driver={SQL Server Native Client 11.0};Server=ARTPK2\\SQLEXPRESS2;Database=Kurs;Uid=sa;Pwd=2ef5Fese";

    SqlState IM002, Data source name not found, and no default driver specified
    It's like in my program!!
      retcode = SQLDriverConnect(hdbc,NULL,string,sizeof(string),buf,sizeof     (buf),&StringLength2,SQL_DRIVER_NOPROMPT);
      i get retocde = -1;
      Using SQLGetDiagRec:

    Why "SQLDriverConnect"  is looking for DNS?!

    hey i also have this problem i have been looking for solution for this problem for along time i tried every possible solution i tried every service pack for the SQL but it didn't connect to the port!!!
    it's a network problem ur java code is correct dont worry about it.
    finally i had to install MySQL and it's work fine now but if u insist on usning SQL u have to use the JDBC-ODBC Bridge it will work by :
    first add data source database , follow these steps
    1- go to Administrative tools
    2-Data Sources(ODBC)
    3-System DNS tab and add then choose SQL SERVER the last option then finish
    4-write the name; Note: this name is the one that u will write in ur URL for example if u write Hello the URL will be "jdbc:odbc:Hello"
    5- choose the server, its recommended to write "." or (local)
    6-change the database to its an important step to choose the database that u want to use, choose northwind if u want to use it
    finish
    second
    adding this code:
    import java.sql.*;
    class JdbcTest1 {
    public static void main (String[] args) {
    try {
    // Step 1: Load the JDBC driver.
    Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
    // Step 2: Establish the connection to the database.
    String url = "jdbc:odbc:Hello";
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url,"user1","password");
    } catch (Exception e) {
    System.err.println("Got an exception! ");
    System.err.println(e.getMessage());
    it will work without any problems
