BEA should forget workshop and build a Rich Thin Client IDE!!
Hello,
After my work place team just got back from a Macromedia Flex training session, we are all ready to abandon Weblogic and go with Cold Fusion.... Their flex tool builds front end interfaces that put beehive apps to shame... I would sure hope that BEA would quickly develop an alternative Rich thin client environment(Forget Beehive!).
Check out this URL:
https://reservations.ihotelier.com/onescreen.cfm?hotelid=2867
I just saw this. Might be useful if you decide to go with coldfusion.

The iTunes Installation files include 4 driver dlls that I can install on a Windows thin client to enable the iPhone to be charged.
The iPhone hard drive or photos are not detected. I guess I need scanner driver support to cope with the camera.
Can anyone tell me which files from the iTune installation set are needed.
It is not practical (or even possible?) to install the whole iTunes package.
I've seen this question asked by a lot of people but never seen an answer.
Please, can someone help...Thanks for the reply.
A thin client is used to connect to a Terminal Server, or in my customer's case, a Citrix Server. I need the thin client to see the iPhone as a camera and pass it to the Citrix Client so the photos can THEN be either stored on a network storage device, or e-mailed.
Because the thin client doesn't even SEE a camera (i.e. the iPhone) it won't be able to connect to iCloud to do anything useful.
I think the question I should be asking, is how do I give the thin client Camera Support.
I've just seen a 2008 forum comment that said the iPhone DOESN'T handle photos through iTunes, but the PC (Scanner support) or MAC (iPhoto) handles them directly. I should be putting the question to HP.
This is still a good place for THIS question, because I've seen so many iPhone users asking it...
If I get a satisfactory answer I'll post it back here. -
Problem using Weblogic 6 and Weblogic 8.1 thin clients from same applicatio
We are developing a application where we require to communicate with 2 different ?Webogic Servers? running different versions.
First server is ?Weblogic 6.1 SP7? and the other is ?Weblogic 8.1?. We use Weblogic thin client jars to connect to these servers. Protocol used to connect to ?Weblogic 8.1? is t3 and for ?Weblogic 6.1 SP7? its t3s. But the obvious problem is that both thin client can not be used simultaneously in the same class-path. Whichever jar file appears first in the class-path, classes will be loaded from that jar. This is causing breakage in our application. If we put ?Weblogic 6.1 SP7? thin client jar first in the path, our application throws exception while connecting to ?Weblogic 8.1? and if we put ?Weblogic 8.1? jar first the path, ?Weblogic 6.1 SP7? won?t connect. Is there a workaround to handle this problem. We have admin level access to Weblogic 8.1 which mean we can change the configuration here if required but we have only user level access to ?Weblogic 6.1 SP7? and can?t do any modification in server config.
Exceptions:
Case 1: ?Weblogic 6.1 SP7? thin client jar first in class-path.
Result : connects successfully with ?Weblogic 6.1 SP7?.
throws following exception while connecting to ?Weblogic 8.1?.

Amazon and successfully deploy a thin client solution
We have a lot that we store cars on sometimes that has no lights and no power. Recently we've had some vandalism and we'd like to get some security cameras on that area. Any suggestions?
Thanks!Hey SpiceHeads, Want to successfully deploy a thin client solution, or at least learn more about your options to do so? How to determine using MDM rich client OR thin client?
We want to save but also want to make sure nothing missing
SO could you tell me how to decide rich client or thin client?
Thanks!Hi Jessica,
MDM Rich Clients: A rich client is a networked computer that has some resources installed locally (MDM Components) but also depends on other resources distributed over the network (MDM SERVER). It Provides rich functionality.
e.g MDM Components (MDM Console, MDM Import Manager, MDM Data Manager and MDM Syndicator)
MDM Thin Clients: If a user only needs to perform select tasks and does not need all the functionality of a standard computer or program, a thin client may be the right tool for the job. e.g. SAP Enterprise Portal (Iviews for Search and Read access)
You can verify that MDM Components are Rich clients and SAP Enterprise Portal is a Thin client on page 4/41 Components in a MDM landscape as given in below link:

Q: Anonymous user and thin client jars
Hi all. I've recently upgraded from WLS 7.0 to WLS 8.1. One of the changes I
did with this was update my java client from using weblogic.jar to wlclient.jar
and wljmsclient.jar (the thin client jars). When I do this and attempt to connect
to my WLS instance anonymously, I get the following message:
SubjectManager not installed
If I either use the 8.1 weblogic.jar or use the thin client jars with JAAS, everything
works.
I'd still like to be able to have anonymous connections to my instance and use
the thin client jars. Is there an additional jar I need to include?
Thanks,
EdHi all. I did some more digging, and it looked like our client code was using
some class wrappers which assumed a JAAS Subject was being used, when it wasn't.
The end result was we were calling into an empty Subject instance. This is what
was causing the error. Pilot error on our part. :)

The model classes get generated under gen_cmi folder at the time of model import.
As far I know, the Web Dynpro build operation also re-generates these classes if reqd.
That is why I asked you to delete the gen_* folder content & do a Project Rebuild operation.
Or you can delete the model & try importing it again.
If the problem persists with the generated classes then there is an issue/bug with the generation & I would recommend to raise an OSS message (WD Java component)
Kind Regards,

Hello I really want to start developing apps but have no knowledge of development I know it's one of those things you have to start somewhere and build on it but can someone point me in the right direction of where I should begin such as books etc

Should I wait to buy an ipod or just say forget it and do it.
I'm currently running a powerbook, and I want to buy an ipod..but I'd be using the ipod on windows as well.
Should I just say forget it, and wait until I decide on one machine or the other, or should I buy it anyways?
This is my first ipod I'd be buying myself so I'm not sure what to do.Format the iPod on your Windows machine and set it up to Manually manage your music and you can use it on both machines. You will have to manually drag music from your libraries to the iPod and any software updates will need to be done on the Windows machine. Your Powerbook can read a Windows formatted iPod, but you need to be using iTunes 8.0.2 on each machine. You will also have to manually eject the iPod when you are through adding music.

How to switch off screen blocking if I forget password and couldn't use iTunes?
How to switch off screen blocking if I forget password and couldn't use iTunes?
If you are saying that you've forgotten the passcode to unlock the iPad then you will need to connect the iPad to the computer that you normally sync to and you should then be able to reset the iPad and restore/re-sync your content to it (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212) - you may need to put the iPad into recovery mode for your iTunes to be able to reset it : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If you do it via a different computer then :
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. -
Workshop and training preferences
Greetins all,
May I ask a quick question with regards to training and skills development. In the UK we've been training around the topics of IDES/ERP and BW - with the vast majority of faculty interest being in ERP because ot touches on so many business and IS topics.
However as new products become available and SAP is taken up by other faculty the range of training topics varies. In the UK for example there is a lot of interest in SCM and SRM - I ran a very brief 'taster' workshop in SCM in collaboration with our Irish Service Centre a few months ago and got perhaps 8/9 attendees but it seems perhaps there are another dozen or so that woiuld be interested in a second session.
So I was wondering what other topics are of interest to faculty - CRM, BW, etc.
And also - more importantly - would you actually use the skills in the classroom? The reason I ask is because although there is great demand in finding out about SCM no UKI school uses it as yet - we are still an ERP/Business Intelligence community with some interest in Portal and Solution Manager for the more technical faculties. SCM etc. may be of interest for faculty skills development and research puroses but would anyone actually use it??
Any thoughts gratefully received
Martin

Director, University Alliances
Unied Kingdom and IrelandHi,
Last October, I took a JBuilder for WebLogic course. I asked about web services
support. I was told at the time (JBuilder 7) that you had to have an additional
plugin over and above the JBuilder/WebLogic Server installation. I never got
the plugin.
Also, you would need clarification on what the plugin addresses. WebLogic Server
has two different web service implementations. You mentioned .jws files so that
makes me believe that you are using workshop-enabled web services not WebLogic's
standalone (ant script) web service implementation. You need clarification on
which (either? both?) JBuilder supports.
I belive that you can start by opening a support case with BEA. Then if BEA needs
clarification from Borland, BEA will contact Borland.
hope this helps,
pat

Forget passcode and phone lock
forget passcode and phone is lock. how to back up all my info, and format my phone and restore back all my info? (contacts, apps, document, info inside apps, calender....)
Then you'll have to force the phone/touch into recovery mode & restore it:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still dont see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
If you can't remember the passcode, there is no way to extract any data from your phone. -
Keynote 09, send to itunes, will my animations and builds play?
Keynote 09, send to itunes, will my animations and builds play?
Assuming you are talking about porting a presentation prepared in Keynote '09 on OSX to be used on an iOS Device such as iPad, you should know that most but not all of the animations will be preserved. Those that can't be replicated in iOS are replaced by Keynote.
Here are two good references for having the least problems between the two platforms that might help:
Keynote for Mac: Best practices for creating a Keynote presentation for animated playback on iWork.com
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4471
Keynote for iPad: Best practices for creating a presentation on a Mac for use on an iPad
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4114
Good Luck.
PS: If you scroll through the builds and animation options on the two platforms you will get the best idea of what is and is not available on each.
