BEA Weblogic AS 9.2 close pool connections - messages BEA-001128 in logs

Hello,
We have problems with BEA Weblogic AS 9.2 SP3. From time to time servers stop responding and seem to be stuck.
In logs there are plenty of messages like this:

What exactly this message mean? Does it show some invalid behavior in application or it is just standard notice message?
What should be behavior of app. server when transaction is timed out on database and closed there? We have timeout for one operation on Oracle set on 10 minutes. Maybe there is a connection between the problems?
Thanks allot!
Miroslav

  • WebLogic proxy plugin: getPooledConn: No more connections in the pool

    Hi,
    We have weblogic proxy plugin installed in Sun One web server. but frequently we are getting following errors in proxy log:
    <1670612410085901> attempt #0 out of a max of 5
    <1670612410085901> Trying a pooled connection for '<IP>/<port>/<port>'
    <1670612410085901> getPooledConn: No more connections in the pool for Host [<IP>] Port[<port>] SecurePort[<port>]
    Can anybody please tell how this proxy plugin manages connection pools? I don't find any minimum / maximum number of conection to mention anywhere or how exactly it works?

    Try increasing the "AcceptBackLog" settings on the weblogic server and then verify for any changed behavior.
    Raise the Accept Backlog value from the default by 25 percent. Continue increasing the value by 25 percent until the messages cease to appear.

  • Weblogic server not starting due to connection pool error.

    Hi all,
    We have some issues with the network due to that, weblog server not able to create the connection pool or make physical connection with the database in the allocated time, we need to increase the timeout so that weblogic can wait and create a connection and then start the apps. How to achieve this?
    Currently the server crashes and forcing to shutdown the error listed below

    Hi,
    It looks like your DB is down for now and that is reason why the server cannot initialize your App while startup.
    Check which Data source you are using and make initial capacity as zero and try to restart the server again.
    Note: you need to do this changes from JMS module under %Domain_Home% / config / jdbc/

  • How to use pool connection run oracle procedure?

    Hi, All:
              I am facing a difficulty I can not find the solution. Maybe you can help
              me.
              I want to call an oracle stored procedure whenever I talk to datebase to
              make the application more efficient. I was able to run the procedure using
              oracle thin driver but not the connection pool using Weblogic jDriver for
              JDBC2.0.
              Please check the following code and see what I did wrong:
              The code in JSP file in Weblogic:
              <%-- JSP page directive --%>
              <%@ page
              import="java.io.*,java.util.*,java.sql.*,weblogic.common.*,weblogic.jdbc20.c
              ommon.*" %>
              <%-- JSP Declaration --%>
              <%!
              protected Connection con = null;
              ResultSet rset = null;
              %>
              <%-- JSP Scriptlet --%>
              <% try {
              Properties props = new Properties();
              props.setProperty("user", "james");
              props.setProperty("password", "aimjames");
              Driver myDriver =
              (Driver) Class.forName
              ("weblogic.jdbc.pool.Driver").newInstance();
              con = myDriver.connect("jdbc:weblogic:pool:hdj2Pool", props);
              String userid = (String)session.getAttribute("user.id");
              int subid =
              Integer.parseInt((String)session.getAttribute("sub.id"));
              String query = "begin pkg_select.sel_req_in_001(" + userid +
              ", " + subid + ", ?); end;";
              weblogic.jdbc.common.OracleCallableStatement cstmt =
              (weblogic.jdbc.common.OracleCallableStatement)con.prepareCall(query);
              cstmt.registerOutParameter(1,java.sql.Types.OTHER);
              cstmt.execute();
              rset = cstmt.getResultSet(1);
              When I run this JSP file, the compilation is fine but the result shows
              nothing. That's means I can not get the ResultSet for some reason.
              The working file when I use oracle thin driver (NOT use a connection pool):
              String userid = (String)session.getAttribute("user.id");
              int subid = Integer.parseInt((String)session.getAttribute("sub.id"));
              String query = "begin pkg_select.sel_req_in_001(" + userid +", " +subid
              +", ?); end ";
              CallableStatement cstmt = con.prepareCall(query);
              cstmt.registerOutParameter(1,OracleTypes.CURSOR);
              cstmt.execute();
              ResultSet rset = (ResultSet)cstmt.getObject(1);
              You may notice that I am trying to bind a parameter to an Oracle cursor. Is
              there anything I did wrong in using weblogic API? I just want to let you
              that in the weblogic JSP file, I also tried to use
              weblogic.jdbc.oci.CallableStatement and
              weblogic.jdbc20.oci.CallableStatement instead of
              weblogic.jdbc.common.OracleCallableStatement, but none of them seems work.
              I did check the bea site at
              http://www.weblogic.com/docs51/classdocs/API_joci.html#1080420 for the
              example to use:
              cstmt.registerOutParameter(1,java.sql.Types.OTHER);
              and I think I followed the exact procedure the example did.
              Please help!

    Thanks for the suggestion about latest version of Weblogic Server.
    "coding best-practices" is not mentioned in the post.
    In order to make servlet application run significantly faster, my servet how to use connection poo is much moreresonable?
    It is reasonable to expect servlet to run significantly faster with connection pooling.
    Is it true that geting and close a connection whenever
    one time database access finished?
    Already answered. Applications use a connection from the pool then return it when finished using the connection.
    Will the solution affect the servlet performance?
    Yes. Already answered. Connection pooling enhances performance by eliminating the costly task of creating database connections for the application.
    Is there any official document to introduce connection pool program?
    For the latest version
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/web.1111/e13726/toc.htm

  • How to close database connections in Crystal Reports

    I am using the following code to connect to database. I can either pass JNDIName or I can provide values for others by leaving JNDI name empty.
    If i use JNDI name, it will use a connection from the connection pool of App Server (in my case Weblogic), but it is not releasing the connection after use. Connection remains even if I logoff from the application. If i keep my max connections as 15 in weblogic, after clicking the page with crystal report 15 times all will remain active and users will not be able to login to the application.
    If i use connectionString and others without using JNDI Name, it directly connects to database. So it creates a connection in database server directly without using connection pool of weblogic. If i check weblogic, it shows no connection in use as expected, but if i check database, i can see the no. of connections increasing everytime a user clicks a crystal report page.
    When the connection touches the maximum allowed connection in server, every application using the same server goes down
    How can I close the connection which was created for the viewing the report?
    String reportName = "/reports/BankBalance.rpt";
    ReportClientDocument clientDoc = (ReportClientDocument) session.getAttribute(reportName);
    if (clientDoc == null)
             clientDoc = new ReportClientDocument();
             clientDoc.setReportAppServer(ReportClientDocument.inprocConnectionString);
            // Open report
            clientDoc.open(reportName, OpenReportOptions._openAsReadOnly);
           String connectString = ""; // jdbc:sybase:Tds:DBSERVERNAME:9812/DBNAME?ServiceName=DBNAME
           String driverName = "";    // com.sybase.jdbc3.jdbc.SybDriver
           String JNDIName = "DS_APP";
           String userName = "";
           String password = "";
           // Switch all tables on the main report and sub reports
           CRJavaHelper.changeDataSource(clientDoc, userName, password, connectString, driverName, JNDIName);
         // logon to database
          CRJavaHelper.logonDataSource(clientDoc, userName, password);
    // Store the report document in session
    session.setAttribute(reportName, clientDoc);
                   // Create the CrystalReportViewer object
                          CrystalReportViewer crystalReportPageViewer = new CrystalReportViewer();
         String reportSourceSessionKey = reportName+"ReportSource";
         Object reportSource = session.getAttribute(reportSourceSessionKey);
         if (reportSource == null)
              reportSource = clientDoc.getReportSource();
              session.setAttribute(reportSourceSessionKey, reportSource);
         //     set the reportsource property of the viewer
         crystalReportPageViewer.setReportSource(reportSource);
         crystalReportPageViewer.setHasRefreshButton(true);
         crystalReportPageViewer.setToolPanelViewType(CrToolPanelViewTypeEnum.none);
         // Process the report
         crystalReportPageViewer.processHttpRequest(request, response, application, null);

    the sample shows how to clear RAS and Enterprise resources after viewing report.
    1. If you use unmanaged RAS - as I can see you using setReportAppServer, then remove the enterprise related stuff : instantiating and cleaning code.
    The sample code is meant to give you an idea on how you can release the resources after done with viewing report. In your case all you need to do for cleaning is call close() on ReportDocumentObject. The sample will need to be modified for your requirements.

    I have already tested with a standalone program and it works, but error is thrown with weblogic server.
    My connection string is jdbc:oracle:oci:@//localhost:1521/orcl11
    Any ideas on how this error can be avoided?
    Thanks

    Hi Anish. Very odd. What versio of weblogic are you running, and what Informix
    driver are you using?

  • Errors when Modifying a Weblogic EJB example to make it connect to mySQL

    Hello,
    I am learning the example codes shipped with weblogic server, which is under ...samples\examples\ejb20\basic\beanManaged. The original connection pool was on cloudscape. I was trying to modify it and make it connect to mySQL.
    In ejb-jar.xml and weblogic-ejb-jar.xml, I replaced "demopool" (which was the original pool name) with "demopool1".
    After starting the server, I configured a new connection pool as following:
    Name: demopool1
    URL: jdbc:mysql:///test
    Driver Classname: org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver
    Properties
    (key=value): user=none
    server=none
    But when I run the example, I got the following error:
    ----------------Server Side:------------------------------------

    What should I do to solve this problem?
    Thanks a lot.

    The exception leads me to believe that you never set up the connection pool with that name in WebLogic. Why not try it? Do you know how to set up a connection pool? Start up the admin console and add it in.

    show us your pool definitions from the config.xml file. There's
    probably a

  • Setting properties on pooled connections

    If I get a connection from a pool and call setReadOnly(true) and setTransactionIsolation(ex:
    read uncommited)
    Do I have to manage resetting these values back myself at the end of my method?
    OR
    Does the pool automatically reset the connection back when it is returned to the
    pool?

    JasonWhat version of weblogic are you using? We will reset the isolation level
    when you close
    the connection (putting it back into the pool). I don't think we reset
    the read-only status,
    and this is a gap in our coverage.
    Joe
    Version is WL 6.1 sp4.
    So, if transaction level is reset, but not setReadOnly() - perhaps I just need
    to reset the 'readOnly' attribute on the pooled connection in a 'finally' block
    at the end of the method to ensure it is reset.That would be perfect. Thanks.
    Here's the safest form of a finally block:
    finally
    if (conn != null)
    // each call in it's own 'try' so all are definitely done
    try {conn.setReadOnly(false);} catch (Exception ignore){}
    try {conn.close();} catch (Exception ignore){}

    1:
    without seeing the code i would say the the connection is null
    because you are storing it as a servlet class variable which is
    not thread safe.
    2:
    The best way to do it using connection pooling

    3:
    if you are not using connection pooling, then
    open and close the connection in the do* method
    or
    use init() to place the connection in the servletconfig
    and close in destroy() and use synching to access

  • Closing pooled connections?? one at a time?

    I've got an interesting need;
    I've writen a custom UserManager for form based authentication.
    class ValidateLoginManager extends AbstractUserManager
    Authentication is to a legacy DB (Oracle) where all users have
    been added as
    Oracle users. So I've created a separate JNDI data source in
    data-sources.xml
    for pooling connections that I'll only use for authentication
    (just a gut decission).
    The container calls:
    boolean checkPasswd (username, passwd) {
    boolean authenticated = false;
    try {
    dbConnection = this.datasource.getConnection(username,
    passwd);
    authenticated = true;
    } finally {
    if (dbConnection != null)
    dbConnection.close();
    return authenticated;
    This works great, since Oracle authenticates the connection
    against it's user DB.
    But the conn.close() does not close the session on the DB and
    soon all MTS tasks are used up in idle sessions.
    Any thoughts on forcing the connection to drop open sessions?
    thanks, curt

    Hi Curt,
    For my custom usermanager I use a datasource specified in my data-sources.xml like this:
    <data-source
         class="com.evermind.sql.DriverManagerDataSource"
         name="xyz"
         location="jdbc/OracleSecurityDS"
         xa-location="jdbc/xa/OracleXADS"
         ejb-location="jdbc/OracleDS"
         connection-driver="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"
         url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@127.0.0.0:1521:xyz"
         inactivity-timeout="30"
    />
    When you lookup the datasource using JNDI, make sure you use the name bound to the location specified in the "location" attribute and not the "ejb-location" attribute (as you usually do in your Ejbs).
    I hope this helps.

    Hi,
    I am Shanmugavel, SharePoint developer,
    I am facing the below SharePoint 2013 deployment issue while deploying using VS2012.
    If i will deploy the same wsp or existing wsp
    (last build) using direct powershell deployment, the solution adding properly, but the same timeout exception coming while activation the features.  Please find the below error.
    I tried the below activists:
    1. Restarted my dev server, DB server.
    2. tried the same solution id different server
    3. tried existing wsp file (last build version)
    4. Deactivated all the features, including project Active deployment configuration.... but still i am facing the same issue.
    I hope this is not coding level issue, because still my code is not start running, before that some problem coming.
    Please help me any one.....  Last two days i am struck because of this...

    What you need to understand is the installation of a WSP does not do much. It just makes sure that you relevant solution files are deployed to the SharePoint farm.
    Next comes the point when you activate the features. It is when the code which you have written to "Activate" certain features for your custom solution.
    Regarding the error you are getting, it typically means that you have more connections (default is I guess 100) open for a SQL database then you are allowed to.
    If you have a custom database and you are opening a connection, make sure you close it as well.
    Look at the similar discussion here:
    The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool
    size was reached[^]
    I would suggest further to look at the
    ULS logs[^] to get better insight.
