BEFW11S4 Connecting W/ The PS3

When I try to connect to my PS3 using a wired connection from my router it says the ip address has timed out. The connection was working and then all of a sudden this problem occurred. Thanks to those who can help me out.

access the router using http://192.168.1.1 . Keep the username blank and enter the default password "admin"..if u had changed the password during the installation or anytime later , u nedd to use that password..go to www.linksys.com/download and check the latest firmware..ensure that the router is on the latest firmware..if not upgrade it first..
assign a statci ip on the PS3 ...
IP Add      : 192.168.1.10
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Default gateway : 192.168.1.1
get the DNS addresses from the router ui's "status" page....
then on the router ui , go to "Applications and Gaming" tab , forward the ports 10070 - 10080 , 6000 - 6999 for the ip add 192.168.1.10

  • Wireless router wrt310N can't connect to the ps3

I just bought the wireless router wrt310n yesterday got everything setup and installed. My PC works fine with the ethernet cable plugged directly into the router from my modem. But my router does not detect the connection to ps3. When I do the connection test on my ps3 it says exchanging key then connection failed!. Please help me open ports or resolve this issue. Thanks.

I bought the same router for my ps3 i'm using it wired but when i hooked up my psp i had the security on wep2 personal, make sure the passphrase it typed correct it's case sensitive, also check your wireless broadcast and make sure it is in manual and b and g mixed and not broadcasting n since the ps3 is wireless g.

  • When will the PS3 fully support the PS4 controller?

The PS4 controller is recognized by Steam as a PS4 controller, but when connected to the PS3 it's recognized as a common "wireless controller"...how come? The controller doesn't vibrate and the PS button won't work (cable or wireless doesn't matter, it's the same) Aren't you going to fix this already?

    GraphiteGB ha scritto:
Likely never... As the games were NEVER built to support the input signals from DS4 any way so will malfunction...Every game would need a repatch to support the controller... and that won't happen... as Publishers won't pay for it..  The DS4 is a next gen Controller... Not even USB compatable with PS3 as games won't support that USB controller... Lots of functions don't even work on $3,000 PCs set up and the functions that do work were only reverse engineered by Fans but functions still remain disabled even on those devices... as they remain incompatable drivers... And any way the DS3 remians CHEAPER than the DS4 and fully functions on the PS3 it was designed for...The DS4 BT only driver is not supported buy all games, only the DS3 BT driver profile is...     Couldn't they make the PS3 recognize it as a PS3 controller? You can do it easily on PC, emulate an Xbox 360 controller using a PS3 one etc, so that every game automatically works just fine. It's not that they can't, it's that they just don't care... You can take a look at the PS3's software, it's clear that they don't. (PS Store and other problems) Also, I never said I hated the PS3 controller (which is much more durable than the PS4 one), but after playing with the DS4 I find it really hard to get used again to the DS3, the DS4's feeling is just unique! Think of it in this way:I own a PS3 and a PS4. Isn't it stupid that I can't play Tekken together with a friend? And that I need to buy another PS3 controller if I want to?

  • *sigh* My BEFW11S4 and the PS3...

    Okay, then.
    *ahem* I have a BEFW11S4 V4, Firmware Version: 1.52.02.
    Right.
Well, I got my 60 GB PS3 recently, and I'm trying to get it to hook up wirelessly. It would not go through, even after data had been input.
I input my SSID correctly, my WPA-PSK (TKIP) correctly, set up static IP and designated DNS servers and everything... I went so far as to update the PS3's firmware through flash drive- this also did not do anything.
Hold on, now. Frustrations mounting, I reset my router. Lo and behold, my PS3 connected. Great.
However, now, not only was my router open to the general public (and people have gotten my internet for free before I learned about WPA) but my computers started acting up. Windows would say it wasn't connected when it actually was, then disconnect after a little while. It was only when I put the WPA back into place that the computers settled down to normal.
Unfortunately this also took the PS3 offline.
So, here's the thing. The router works. I don't want to buy a brand-spankin'-new one (and I think people are still having trouble with those, anyway). But I've proven the connection to work before- I've gotten online with the PS3. No port forwarding, no MTU changes, no channel changes, no nothing, it worked off of a fresh reset. However, when I set up the WPA, even when I enter it correctly with the PS3 it can't connect. Can someone help me out here? I know about the alternatives with MAC address filtering and whatnot from reading Dustin's posts, but the computers don't even seem to want to cooperate without WPA, so...
... if worse comes to worse though, and I have to get a new router to make everything work (grumble grumble), what seems to be the most compatible router out there for the PS3?

hmm... try setting up WEP encryption on the router instead of WPA and use 64 bits, put 0 to 9 or any ten digit number and try connecting to wireless network using WEP encryption... reduce MTU to 1365 and try triggering 6000-6999 and 10070-10080 ports on the router for PS3...check whether it makes any difference or not and let me know...

  • BEFW11S4 v4 - wired devices work, wireless devices cannot connect to the Internet

    Greetings,
I have a Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless, ver 4. I have a PC connected directly to one of the Ethernet ports, and have no problem with that connection. I have a DSL service from Verizon. All devices are running Windows XP.
My wireless Laptop, as well as other desktop with wireless USB adapter cannot access the Internet. It seems that I have a wireless connection between the router and these devices since my Laptop can see the SSID and the wireless network and connect to it. But when I try to launch IE explorer or use AOL, I am not successful.
The frustrating part is that the wireless laptop used to work just few days ago and I haven't changed any set-up or added any hardware.  I have tried to re-install the router, and also did few resets...but nothing is working.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Elie

    Elie,
From one of the wireless computer, wither desktop or laptop, try this to help isolate the issue:
fo to Start>run> type "cmd" then click enter
that would open MS DOS, type: Ping (your router IP address)
For Example, if the router IP address is 192.168.1.1, then type:
    ping 192.168.1.1 then click enter
if it does not come back with a time out, then you your PC is connected to the router. If it did time out, then it is the wireless connection.
If so, check the wireless configuration on the router, as of SSID, security if any , etc.. and make sure that the wireless card in each desktop and laptop match those settings. Be aware that SSID is "case sensitive" so it has to match exactly the one in the router.
hope that will help you in troubleshooting the issue

  • Slow connection problem with the PS3

Okay so I have a WRT54G,v5 wireless router...
For some reason, I find my router in the ps3 scanning, put the WEP in, and let it automatically pick all the IPs and stuff... but once it connects, my connection is extremely slow (I have a 10mb cable connection, so when I do a speedtest for example I get around 10000kbps, while I get around 2500kbps when I do the same speedtest on my PS3.)
I'm really out of ideas, as i've tried doing absolutely everything to getting it to go through, but for some reason it just won't clear.
Am I doing something wrong? and if so, is there any way to fix it? It's getting kind of frustrating because it takes about an hour to download a 600mb demo, while it should only take about 15~ mins with my connection, maybe even less.
Any help would be appreciated, maybe manually adding the numbers myself? (even though I have no idea how this is done...)
    Thanks for your time.

The PS3 browser and Playstation Network is sluggish so don't think it's your router. Everyone on the Playstation Underground forum have the same complaint which hopefully Sony will address soon in a future firmware update. It doesn't matter if your wired or wireless you still get the same sluggish issues. You can make all the modifications to your router and still the same issue will be there. Trust me I have a WRT300N router and did everything that I could to push as much speed as I can to the PS3 and little has changed.

  • Linksys Wireless Router BEFW11S4 - Shows connected, but I can not connect to the internet

I have a Linksys Router hooked up to a cable RCA modem using Comcast Cable. There are 3 laptops that hook up wirelessly to the router and they have been working fine for the past two years. However, recently all three laptops can not connect to the internet for some reason. I checked with Comcast and they checked out the modem and tested it and it works fine. When I hook my laptop up to the modem with an ethernet cable, it works fine and I can get  on the internet. When I hook the modem up to the router and try to connect wirelessly it appears to be fine. It shows that the router is connected there is connectivity on all our laptops, however when I open a new internet explorer page to get on the internet, it does nothing. A blank page appears and the webpage will not load. Does anyone know how to fix this? Is it the router or the way it is setup in the admin page or could it be possibly something else? Thanks.

As it shows connected under wireless ....check the Ip address under wireless network connection .....
If it shows Ip 192.168.1.X ....with gateway 192.168.1.1 ..... try to pnig the gateway address ...
If getting reply try going online ....
    Also disable the firewall first.....

  • WRT54G2 DNS errors when connecting online to PS3... at a loss for ideas...

Im having dns problems ever since PSN went back online and i cannot connect to the internet with my PS3 or log onto PSN. At first i would get dropped as soon i joined an online game, and it was running very slowly, but now it wont connect at all.
Wired works perfectly. Wireless wont work.
If i use automatic setup then the ip address fails.
If i manually set everything then the ip address passes but the internet connection fails and i get a dns error.
Signal strength is 100% and i have a Linksys WRT54G2 router. (worked perfect 2+ years until this week)
    I have Roadrunner cable modem.
I did ipconfig/all and enetered all numbers from there and didnt work.
I used standard dns like google and such and those didnt work.
Im seriously at a loss for ideas. Is my router broken? Please can anyone help?

I don't think it's necessarily your router. I've encountered the same problem on my WRT54GC and I used OpenDNS. But it gave me all sorts of problems with different websites so I had to take it out and use manual DNS. I used all sorts of combinations through until I got 4.2.2.2  to work.
EDIT: also, try going in to your router's setup page and click Status. Take note of the DNS values and use those in setting up your PS3.

  • Wireless B Broadband Router (BEFW11S4) connects for only about 5 mins at a time

I have Wireless B Broadband Router (BEFW11S4). Worked fine for about 2 years. I've had a HP Pavilion for about a year now using the wireless and also have a desktop I use on it (wired). About a month ago the speed seemed to be lagging a little and the router was never secured with a password, so I changed that and added a password. Ever since then the laptop will not stay connected for more than about 5 mins. I have gone back and removed the password protect feature, but still have the problem. It has a problem connecting to the router. The signal bars always seem to be full, but still can't connect. I've tryed reseting the router, unpluging everything, etc and can't get it to have a steady connection like before. Sometimes I can connect to the internet even when it says "Not connected" in the wireless network connection 2 screen. I've tried to search and find a similar problem, but was surprised to not be able to find one. Any insight will help.
    Thanks,
    Lman

Thanks for the suggestions Wizzard. Although I did not know what all that stuff does, it didn't seem to help. I didn't not upgrade the firmware because there didn't seem to be any upgrades since 2003, before I bought it. Any other suggestions from anybody? Could anybody make an educated guess to whether it's the router or the laptop?
    Thanks,
    Lman

  • My computer is no longer connecting to the TV. through HDMI

My computer is no longer connecting to the TV. I was using an HDMI and an adapter to my macbook pro 2013. It was working perfectly fine eariler today but then stopped working. Wow... I found this in another thread from the user DocBlueDog, I did this and it worked.
Looks like Apple's latest update screwed up a lot of iPod owners... that's horrible.
Anyways, if anyone is having the same problem, try this:

Just got off the phone with amazing tech support guy at www.ipodresq.com -
He talked me through this without having to send in my ipod. AMAZING.
(This is a second hand description. Evaluate it and try it at your own risk).
So disconnet your ipod. Quit Itunes.
Go to your utilities folder and look for ipod updater.
Inside you'll see a folder IPOD SOFTWARE UPDATER and DISK UTILITY.
Open DISK UTILITY AND the most recent updater IPOD UPDATER 2006-01-10.
Reset your ipod by holding down the menu key and the center key together until an apple logo appears. Plug in your ipod.
Ideally you will see it in disk utilities. In the ipod updater go ahead and hit RESTORE. Yes this will wipe your ipod of all data but hopefully most of it is in itunes or on your computer.
When updater is done HIT CANCEL and then quit updater and quit disk utilities. It should be on your desktop.
Just to be safe disconnect your ipod and reconnect it. (superstition).
Launch itunes. It may attempt to update your entire itunes library. Mine said there was not enough room so I just hit cancel.
Then I couldn't drag anything to the ipod because the ipod options were set to automatically update and I had to change it to manually update. Now I am relouding my librarys to my ipod which is working with my computer again.
WHY I should have to deal with calling apple and being told my ipod needed to be sent in to be repaired is beyond me. Love this companies products but wish they would step up more on support.
    Good luck.
    All best,
    Rob

  • No longer connecting to the internet

    Hi,
My trusty BEFW11S4 does not want to connect to the internet any more.
I am able to connect directly through my cable modem, but when I plug the modem in to the router, and my computer in to the router... and reboot everything multiple times, it won't connect.
The internal network works fine and I am able to log in to the router, but for some reason it is is not connecting to the internet. Did something die on the linksys or should I upgrade my firmware? Any ideas?

Just powercycle the modem when the router is plugged into it.
The modem uses the mac address of the device directly connected to it to receive an ip address. If it works when your pc is connected, that means the modem still "sees" your nics mac address.
Just unplug the modems power for a minute (or if its a telephony modem press the reset button until it reboots) then reconnect it and you should be good.

  • Macbook Pro died and now won't connect to the internet

I just got home from college and my Macbook Pro died while I was using it because I couldn't find the charger in time to plug it in (stupid mistake that I never ever let happen usually). After I found it, plugged it in, and started it up again, the date and time were messed up on the computer. I reset them to normal and tried to connect to the internet using my old settings, but it hasn't connected.
I've tried a lot to try and fix it so far and it still won't connect. Other computers and devices (HP and Dell laptops, iPod touches, PS3) that my family have and use all work and connect to the internet fine.
I've tried to run the Network Diagnostics and after plugging in all of my settings and information, it says that it can't fix it. Next to it on the left, the Airport, Airport Settings, and ISP are all green...but the Network Settings is yellow and the Internet and Server are red.
I've deleted my internet settings and tried recreating them and that hasn't worked either. I have also tried the Assist Me portion to make a new connection - no luck there.
I've also tried resetting the Macbook Pro and the router (an Actiontec router for Verizon FIOS) multiple times and that hasn't worked either.
I unfortunately can't use Time Machine either because I don't have an external hard-drive and haven't set it up.
I just don't really know what to do at this point. Hopefully someone can help me out!

Same problem--hoping to get Apple's attention by throwing my hat in the ring with everybody else.
Things tried (now approaching 2 weeks of failure):
    Deleting "Airport" Connection, Adding/Restarting/Re-adding/etc.
    Archive Install
Erase & Install (full reinstall done by Genius)
    Card Replacement
    Bluetooth Replacement
    Zapping the PRAM
    Trying different connections/routers/locations/connection types/etc.
Visited Genius bar 4 times now.
Have been without the computer longer than I've been with it.
Trying to change over from a horrifically bad Dell to a refurb Mac worked once before...though I've come to believe: It's not the refurb, it's not the hardware, it's not the settings, it's not the router, it's not the install, it's not the associated software, it's not the connection, it's not the Super Moon that comes up tomorrow...It's a hardware issue as this has been happening since I opened the computer out of the box, and we have an identical computer running identical programs on an identical network with the identical updates and NO problems whatsoever--I'm assuming the innards may have been cheap'ed out somewhere to save a buck or a connector is faulty after a particular build date?
Full symptom list (in no particular order):
    Connection Timeout
    Connection Drop
    Not recognizing Airport
Card Recognition but endless connection time
    IP non-recognition
    Random re-connect
Indication of connection without transmitting/receiving data

Hi I have a hp6 desktop I have connected apple tv & ps3 through a multi hdmi splitter yo my monitor I have picture but no sound? I have connected digital optical audio cable from pc to these devices but no joy? any ideal why this isn't working?

I have no idea about the ps3 but Apple TV outputs audio thru the HDMI or the digital audio.  Few PC's actually accept audio inputs from digital, they usually are outputs.  So what are the model numbers of the monitor and PC?

  • Connecting Macbook to PS3 using Crossover Cable

I am attempting to connect my Playstation 3 to my Macbook. My Macbook is connected to a Telus internet stick which is successfully connected to the internet. I have just purchased a Nexxtech Crossover cable and have connected that between my Macbook and PS3.
The issue is getting my PS3 connected to the internet.
I have enabled internet sharing in system settings on the Mac.
For the PS3, I am assuming to go: network settings, internet connection settings, custom, wired connection, auto detect, and then manual ip address. The problem I believe is the settings for IP address, subnet mask, primary and secondary DNS. It is these fields of information that I don't know how to fill.
Much help is appreciated, I have been at this for hours.

You don't need a crossover cable as at least the Mac is auto MDI/MDI-X.
The PS3 should use DHCP and you might encounter problems depending on wether you have the firewall turned on or not on the Mac.
