Begining With EJB and EJB QL

Hi,
Can you suggest to me how to convert SQL queries into EJB query language
i have one query like this
select * from SampleTable s1,s2 where s1.id=s2.link_id
in this table id and link_id are two seperate columns.

You dont need to define to ref variable.
Select s1 from SampleTable s1 where s1.id=s1.link_idFor EJB Ql have a visit to this URL

  • Classes, Stateful EJBs and EJB Container

    Hi,
We have several doubts about classes, servlets, and EJBs.
We have been told that the instance of non-static classes from JSPs or servlets
can be a problem if we have a big number of clients connecting to weblogic (or
any other app server). Would it be a problem? Is it a better practice to instantiate
    those classes from EJBs?
We have been told that EJBs are managed by the EJB container, and it uses a pool
for serving them to clients, passivating and activating them. This would include
the classes instantiated inside them. Is it true?
If all our guesses are true, the better way to implement a search with pagination
would be a stateful EJB, using handlers to save it in the client's session. But
we've heard that stateful EJBs are really bad for server's perfomance. Is it true?
We are using Weblogic 7.0. If so, what are they useful for???
If they can be a problem, how to build that searching using stateless EJBs?
    Best regards,
    Ignacio Sanchez

You're right, the concrete tag to use seems to be:
    <replication-type>InMemory</replication-type>
Anyway, do you have any further explanation on Stateful's behaviour with many
    clients and pagination implementation?

    Thanks for your replies.
Anyway, I still have some questions about stateful EJBs. In a clusteredenvironment,
we've been told that stateful EJBs are only balanced before create()method. So,
if we have already "created" the Remote interface, we're using it,and the
    server
fails and must be balanced to another instance, what will happen? Willwe
    lost
that Remote interface and data included in it?
Not necessarily, you can enable replication, which means that your stateful
EJB's state (values of i-vars) can be replicated across nodes in a cluster.
Search through the WLS cluster documentation for details.
    SB
And about your suggestion on pagination using stateless. Could youplease
    explain
it in more detail? I haven't understood it well.
Thank you very much for your attention.

    connecting
to web container then and if each client needs objects stored in session
    then
you have to refactor your object distribution. But this could be avoided
    by separating
static content from dynamic content (using proxies, load balancersetc),
    having
more web containers etc. It's not necessary to instantiate these classes
    in EJBs
always (then you are increasing your memory footprint). The generalguidelne
    is
to do more heavy duty work as you go deeper into tiers hopefully handling
    less
    connections etc.

True if misused as stateful EJBs, just like HTTP sessions could bereplicated
    and could be activated/passivated.
If they can be a problem, how to build that searching using stateless
    EJBs?
You could cache searchs and pass identity and page numbers to theSLSB.

  • Help! I renamed an existing file in Reader (Mobile) to begin with "." and it disappeared. Unable to search for it. How can I recover it? [iOS]

I was attempting to organize my files in Reader (on iPad) and I tried renaming an existing file to begin with "." in an attempt to put it at the top of my list, so that I could easily find it. It completely diappeared and if I search for it, it doesn't appear. Help!!!

    Hi,
A file or folder name starting with '.' ("dot" or "period") is considered hidden on most operating systems.  By naming a file starting with '.', you accidentally hid the file and made it inaccessible to all iOS apps.
I'd highly recommend using '_' ("underscore") in the future.
We have already made the change to the new Acrobat DC for iOS app (version 15.0.x) so that it disallows the rename operation with '.' as the first character.  (I assume that you are using Adobe Reader for iOS on iOS 7 or older iOS version.)
To recover your hidden file, you need to use a Windows or Mac desktop/laptop computer, install a File Manager app (e.g. iExplorer free demo version, iFunBox), connect your iPad, browse the file system on your iPad, and rename the file back to something else (so that it becomes "visible" again).
The exact steps vary depending on the File Manager app you choose.  You may be able to find How-To videos on the software manufacturer's web site or YouTube.
Don't worry.  Your hidden file is not permanently lost.  You just need to recover it.  Good luck!

  • ADF and EJB. Why so little samples / information

    Hi All,
I was wondering if other JDev / ADF developers have the same feeling as me in regards to ADF / EJB.
There is barely enough information and examples on using ADF with EJB. Seems that most examples and blogs are related to BC instead.
I was reading an article (sorry, don't have the link to it) not long ago that an Oracle Executive was asked if BC or EJB was Oracle's future and EJB was the answer. However, that doesn't seem to be the what most blogs and sample are about.
I know that BC has tight integration with ADF, but it's not a standards based back-end framework. We are locked in the ADF UI for all of our development, but not touching BC at all. All code is EJB compliant.
    So, my request is:
    - comments? do other developers out there feel the same way?
    - bloggers, the great articles from "Frank Nimphius" and "Andrejus Baranovskis", not to mention others, can you guys post a little more on using ADF with EJB?
BTW: great article on that "http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/fnimphius/ControlHintsWithPojos/controlHintsWithPojos.html" (How-to find and set control hints on POJO entities in bean Data Controls)

    Hi!
I rised this issue long time ago - with TP3 I noticed regression in EJB/JPA support with ADFm (binding layer as referred by Shay). Following the development, I draw this conclusions:
    1. Oracle is oriented toward J2EE standards, including the strategic orientation to EJB/JPA. The team that managed JDev 11g initial development phases was oriented toward EJB (but was replaced/fired sometime between TP2 and TP3).
    2. Oracle decided that FMW 11g stack products as well as EBS migration from PL/SQL to EJB is not feasible in short time frame (I think that was poor judgment). So, the BCs got the push over the EJB and TP3/4 was biased toward BCs. Even the default Fusion technology stack is changed - in TP1/2 the Fusion Web project was ADF RC + EJB buy default and then changed to ADF RC + BC4J. Also the development guides were "rephrased".
    3. As BC4J are proprietary Oracle technology, the are lacking many J2EE standard features and many strong points of the modern multi-tier architecture. Many developers are witnessing the performance / scalability issues as the BC4J are basically a mutant: they are SQL based concept wrapped into EJB for deployment! But they are not relaying on proven scalable J2EE technologies (like JPA/JTA, object caching etc.). They are trying to reinvent the wheel, decalratively offering the heaven of J2EE multi-tear architecture to old fashion SQL-focused architects/developers. But it is just a marketing - the truth is that BC4J are not and cannot be the replacement for proven J2EE architecture. They are trying to mimic the concepts of J2EE (like object-entity mapping, like JTA/JPA, like scalability and caching, transparent web-services exposition etc.) but they are lagging behind even J2EE 1.4 and we are facing the J2EE 6 in few months!
    4. Oracle is aware that EJB is the future but they are trying to bridge the gap between their legacy code written mainly in PL/SQL. So they developed and they are developing the JDeveloper 11g in fashin that should support and serve for their primary goals - migration of their own old PL/SQL based products to new, J2EE, world (of BEA!).
So, anyone who is expecting the that Oracle JDeveloper is what they are marketing (full scale J2EE IDE) - is going to waste some time and money waiting the Oracle to finish it's half-way migration from PL/QL and Forms/Reports to PL/SQL + ADF RC! In few years from now.
Thus, if you need efficiency in J2EE standards development - try something else than JDeveloper. Or, as suggested by Shay, don't use overmarketed ADFm as it is not compatible with EJBs in scalable / clustered deployment! Yes, that is proven issue (but I wont elaborate here as it is already well elaborated in this forum in another tread but the Oracle guys wisely neglected that issue).
And beside few very very old and for me useless blog entries (one of which is not working in 11g as you may read in comments) there will be no much support for EJBs in this release of JDeveloper - I can bet!
But, as final message to the public, I'm still stuck with JDev and EJBs as. When you develop you own patterns, it is still the best combination for developing the scalable, high performance apps on Oracle FMW 11g platform - mandatory including several grid technologies that are making the difference in scalability of true J2EE apps and quasi-J2EE "Fusion" apps based on BC4Js "silently" wrapped in EJBs for deployment.

  • How to handle audit columns using EJB and JPA.

    Hi,
I am using JDev10.1.3.3 with Swing and EJB + JPA + TopLink.
Every entity (POJO) has the same audit columns:
    @Column(name="CREATE_DATE", nullable = false)
    private Timestamp createDate;
    @Column(name="CREATE_USER_ID", nullable = false, length = 30 )
    private String createUserId;
    @Column(name="MODIFY_DATE", nullable = false)
    private Timestamp modifyDate;
    @Column(name="MODIFY_USER_ID", nullable = false, length = 30 )
    private String modifyUserId;
Does JPA has a default feature/component that will auto populate this fields. (Similar to Business Components)?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
I am not aware of this being part of EJB/JPA. However, you may want to check here. Its the TopLink forum, but these guys are involved in the JPA standardization

  • Problem with EJB and JMS - Failed to obtain/create connection

    hello ejb and jms programmers,
My problem is my topic MDB keep on retrieving the same message when there is a database connection failure. Maybe somebody could help me how to prevent to retrieve the same data?
    Given:
    - I purposedly turn off the pointbase database because im testing my error handling.
    - Im using SJSAS 8 as my application server.
    - My message Driven Bean of topic type.
    - Im using CMP for my entity bean
Here is the scenario of whats happening - step by step:
    1. A separate application publishes a message to JMS queue server
    2. My MDB retrieves this message and do some processing then inserts a record (transaction history) in my database
    3. But my db is turned off or down
    4. My MDB sends a successful processing reply to the JMS queue server
    5. Then i noticed that my server.log keeps on growing so when i opened it, the record was not inserted and printed the stacktrace below "RAR5117 : Failed to obtain/create connection. Reason : javax.transaction.SystemException" (complete stacktrace below)
    6. I understand the cause of the stacktrace is because the DB is turned off. But what i dont understand is that my MDB keeps on reading the same message. Since my MDB is of topic type, isnt a topic MDB supposedly reads a message only once???
    So my questions are:
    1. how do i handle insert database error?
    2. how can i stop my MDB from processing the same message?
    3. any better suggestions?
    Thank you in advance :)

    Hi annie,
Wherever you are handling database transactions,
you'd not be able to create a Connection if database
is closed (I think you mentioned turning off the
database) then at this condition, you should
certainly throw a System level exception and stop all
processing with some meaningful flow to indicate a
failure (like display message on UI). Even
network problems are handled by exceptions... so I
don't see a reason why you didn't wrap it in the
    first place.
Anyway, try handling specific exceptions rather than
the general Exception... this will give you a better
idea of what to do in case of an exception.Yes i know this. I am practicing this in my non-j2ee server applications. But the j2ee app im making, i just pass the db url in the descriptor and the app server automatically creates the connection for my app. So where would i put exception handling?
    2. how can i stop my MDB from processing the same
message?Guaranteed delivery is not supposed to stop
processing. It will continue to process the message
after certain intervals till the message is
delivered. You shouldn't deliver it at all, if you
are able to detect that the database is off
The problem here is that my MDB automatically retrieves the message from the JMS queue server. Im not the one retrieving the messages manually.
My assumed behavior of topic MDB is once the a certain MDB retrieves a message it will not retrieve the same message anymore.
    thank you in advance.

  • Help needed with Sun Java Studio Creator and EJB in a Portlet Project

    Hi
I have created an web-application with JSF in Sun Java Studio Creator 2. The web application uses a lot of EJB's which acts as the dataProviders. In a typical jsp page i have more that one data providers(the EJB's) getting used. When i run the project everything opens up properly in the browser and the application seems to be fine.
But when i create a JSP 168 Portlet project and do exactly the same thing for some reason the Apache Pluto(comes as the default Portlet Container with Studio Creator) conks off.
Then i started going ahead step by step:
    1. First i created a portletpage and added only one dataProvider(EJB) and ran the project...It gets deployed properly in Pluto and the browser comes up and everything shows up fine.
    2. Just to re-confirm i did the same thing with another dataProvider(EJB). So still we have just 1 EJB in the portlet page. As expected it also worked fiine.
    3. Then when I added more that one dataProviders(EJBs) in the porlet page the Apache Pluto conks off(saying that Pluto is not available)
I tried doing a lot of things but nothing works...Surprisingly the same thing works when u create a JSF web Application project but the same thing does not work when u create a JSR 168 JSF Portlet Project...
Did anybody face the same problem..Is it a bug in the Studio Creator...Any help would be highly appreciated.

  • Jdeveloper IDE bug with Soa 11g PS1 ejb adapter with uri and jndiName

    Hi,
When you use the EJB adapter as a reference in Soa suite 11g PS1 and you provide the jndiname then jdev put its wrong in the binding.ejb and use the uri attribute instead of jndiName

  • WLS 8.1 two domains with EJB and webapp deployed has JVM conflicts?

    Test configuration environment:
Windows 2003 server installed with weblogic 8.1 server and oracle 9i.
This weblogic server have two domains, one is for EJB deployment, the other is a webapp that implements accessing to oracle through EJB.
The issue is when we tested a method provided by the EJB that uses double to calculate some total value, the result was correct. But when we tested it using webapp that was deployed on the same server of EJB, it's result was negative or zero.
I think the reason is that the JVM which both EJB and webapp used for calculation was the same and may made some conflicts when they run at the same time.
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance!

This morning I deployed that webapp to the Domain that deployed the EJB, The results of calculating in webapp's jsp was correct.
Any one be kind enough to tell me what the calling JVM differences between single domain(deployed by EJB and webapp) and two domains (deployed EJB and webapp separately)?

I use JSP to calling EJB. But the .jsp file is complex and it's difficult to maintain...I just want to work higher efficent with EJB,JSP and JavaBean. I want to know is there a good design with EJB and JSP? and is there any good material about MVC for EJB,JSP and JavaBean?

classes associated with them. The ejb needs to reference(instantiate) the java
    classes in the portlets.
Right now the only way I can get it to work is to put the ejb, third party jar
and the portlet classes(jarred up) into the classpath of the server.
I think there should be a way to deploy these things without putting them in the
class path. I've read all the manual sections about deploying.
Can anyone help me with this. It would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

Refer to the portal deployment guide
    (http://edocs.bea.com/wlp/docs40/deploygd/index.htm). Also refer to
    http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs61/ejb/deploy.html for more general
    information on deployment of ejbs.

  • How to work with EJBs and database for a simple login application

    Hi all :)
I am new in JSP,EJB and Servlets. I just wanted to develop a simple login application, using JSP+EJBand servlets. In some tutorial I found that the beans are already populatesd with database records. But will it be good logic to retrive all records into a bean and then search for a perticuler users data for authentication.
Can any one tell me me what is the best logic for doing so. :(
    Thanx in advance.
