Persistent views in a MobileApplication

Is it possible using when using the new MobileApplication, ViewNavigator, and View to have a persistent view so that when you navigate away from the view to another view an activity in the first continues.  I am thinking of mobile apps such as video players, mp3 players, etc. where one screen allows you to play a media file and you are allowed to navigate to other screens (I am thinking views here) where you can select other media files, get more info on the media file you are playing, etc.
From the tutorial and article by Narciso it seemed that the default behavior of the ViewNavigator is to only preserve one view in memory at a time and saving the data from the previous views on the stack.  I would like to be able to play a video for instance and switch to another view and still hear the video.

How about using states to controls what's visible and what isn't within a single view? It's not efficient to keep all the Views in memory but this may be a workaround.

  • How do I save settings for a View?

    Hi
    Anyone who can help me, it'll be great...
    I have created a view in eclipse. When the user opens the eclipse workspace that view is also opened. The user can use the view to search for code. When the workspace is closed the view is saved because the program calls saveState when the workspace closes.
    However, when the user has the view open and does a search and then just closes that view (without exiting the workspace) the search criteria that the user previously enters does not save... so when the user opens the view again all the default search criterias are loaded.
    What do I use to save the view state?
    Thanks

    This question is really best asked in an eclipse newsgroup, e.g. the RCP group:
    http://www.eclipse.org/newsgroups/index_project.php
    All I can tell you (I'm just starting out fiddling with this myself) is that FAQ 204 in The official Eclipse FAQ 3.0 is "How does a view persist its state between sessions". It says that you can use the JFace IDialogSettings facility for persisting view state in the case where your view is closed but not the workspace. Is that something you are familiar with?

  • How to add MS Office add-in from inside a Thinapp 5 virtual application to a MS Office 2013 suite that is installed on a base image

    Hi,
    We have the following solution:
    VMware Horizon View 5.3.1
    Non-persistent Linked-clone pool with delete VM after logoff
    Windows 8.1 Update 1 Enterprise 64 bit
    MS Office 2013 32-bit installed on image
    Thinapps registered for each user from logonscript with thinreg.exe command. Thinapps is located on a network share
    Native Windows roaming profiles with appdata/roaming, appdata/local without appdata/locallow(persona management does not support Windows 8.1 in View 5.3.1)
    This is our issue:
    We have a 3rd party application with a couple Thinapp entrypoints(exe files) and in the Thinapp package process we also installed Office addins. We tested that the Add-ins was opened inside Outlook, Word and Powerpoint before post installation scan.
    The problem is that the add-ins is not added to Office 2013 before or after the Thinapp is started on a test client.
    I have tried several changes in the package.ini and virtual filesystem attributes(no registry changes yet):
    Package.ini:
    ChildProcessEnvironmentExceptions=WINWORD.EXE;EXCEL.EXE;POWERPNT.EXE;OUTLOOK.EXE;
    ChildProcessEnvironmentDefault=External
    ChildProcessEnvironmentExceptions=excel.exe;outlook.exe;powerpnt.exe;winword.exe
    ChildProcessEnvironmentDefault=Virtual
    VirtualizeExternalOutOfProcessCOM=0
    DirectoryIsolationMode=Merged
    RegistryIsolationMode=Merged
    I have also read that you could make entrypoints to the locally installed Office 2013, but I get errors on the build process. ref. link: http://edwinfriesen.nl/content/?p=105#comments
    The best thing would be if the add-ins were added in the logon process together with thinreg.exe, but if that is not supported, the add-ins must be added to Office either in a custom Office shortcut/entry point or after starting the Thinapp virtual application.
    Remember that the application needs to registered every times the user logon, because we use a non-persistent View pool.
    I would really appreciate if somebody could tell me how to add Office add-ins from inside a Thinapp virtual application/package to a locally installed MS Office 2013 suite on a Windows "base" image?
    We do not want to add the whole Office suite to the Thinapp virtual package and not add the add-ins trough GPO,SCCM etc.

    What about the COM object parameters in package.ini ?
    We can live with scripting in logon or changed logon scripts etc.
    And you don't no need to lock in the project files.
    From package.ini documentation:
    ObjectTypes Parameter
    The ObjectTypes parameter specifies a list of virtual COM object types that are visible to other applications in
    the physical environment. You can use scripts, such as VBScripts, to call objects that start captured applications.
    An object type is registered to only one native or virtual application at a time. If you install Office 2003 on the
    native machine and want to use a virtual Office 2007 package, you must determine whether to have the virtual
    or native application handle the object types.
    If you want the virtual Office 2007 to handle the object types, you can leave the ObjectTypes setting in the
    Package.ini file, build the package, and register it using the thinreg.exe utility. If you want the native Office
    2003 to handle the object types, you must remove the ObjectTypes setting from the Package.ini file before
    building and registering the package.
    You cannot add random entries to the ObjectTypes parameter.
    You can only remove entries that were generated by the capture process.
    Example: Starting a Virtual Application When a COM Object is Created
    If a script or a native application creates an Excel.Application COM object or other COM objects listed in the
    ObjectTypes parameter, ThinApp starts the virtual package.
    [Microsoft Office Excel 2007.exe]
    ObjectTypes=Excel.Application;Excel.Application.12;Excel.Chart;
    Excel.Macrosheet;Excel.Sheet; Excel.Workspace

  • Error while accessing Xcelsius report via LiveOffice

    Hi all,
    We are getting error "Persisted view cannot be loaded u2013 LO 26620" when users try to run Xcelsius dashboard having some 5-6 BEX queries in it.
    The crystal reports(base for dashboards) get hanged for long and sometimes throw the error "Request timed out because there has been no reply from the server for 600,000 milliseconds".
    Could somebody suggest the cause of these issues and how can we resolve them.
    It is critical ,will really appreciate any advice on that.
    It is version 3.1 FP 1.7
    Thanks.

    Hi Stratos,
    We managed to resolve the issue.
    Actually our BO server is a clustered one having two nodes (say NodeA and NodeB).
    For each report that is used in dashboard we changed the following settings:
    Default servers to use for processing:
    Default servers to use for caching:
    and set it to "Give preference to servers belonging to the selected group (NodeA )". Earlier we had selected "Only use servers belonging to the selected group (Node A)". That made the difference and dashboard is running fine now.
    With the previous setting it was throwing the error
    "Crystal_Report1" is not allowed to use Report Application Server "NodeA.ReportApplicationServer1".  "NodeA.ReportApplicationServer1" is not in the specified server group."
    Though issue got resolved but still it would be great if anyone can provide an insight on it.
    Thanks.

  • LO26620 Messages in XCelsius 3.5 Dashboards

    Hi community!
    Created an XCelsius-Dashboard receiving data from 4 Crystal reports via 7 live office connections.
    XC refreshes minute-by-minute, Crystal reports are scheduled to run a synchronous 2 minutes beat.
    Initially it worked fine, but is now getting more and more unusable due to tenacious exception throwing:
    - LO26620 ('failed to load persistent view')
    Often:
    - LO26000 ('some kind of error...' - not very helpful, alas)
    Sometimes:
    - LO26610 ('no report connection' - sound like a more general LO26620)
    - LO26002 ('wrong BO web service version' - but why does it work here and there?)
    Number of exceptions per refresh varies from 0 up to 7, in average near 5.
    The dashboard has 5 - 10 parallel users.
    As a test tool I built some quite simple dashboards receiving data from just one of the LO connections.
    Nearly same behaviour shows up, though, no matter which crystal report or LO Object is used.
    Environment: Windows Server 2008 | MSO 2007 | Flash Player 10 | BO Edge 3.1 SP3, BO XI Integration 3.1 SP3, LO XI 3.1 SP3, CR 2008 SP3, XC 2008 FP 3.5
    May it be a kind of sync problem, LO likes to read data but there's a new crystal instance in progress and the previous one thus 'hidden' somehow? Or something completely different?
    Any suggestion is really appreciated.

    Thanks for the suggestions!
    The current state is
    - FP level adjustment towards 3.5 is still in progress, however, the story started some weeks ago on a (as far as I know) clean 3.2 level
    - anyone connecting to the dashboard from anywhere suffers from all these exceptions
    - the exception frequency reduces with the number of concurrent users of the dashboard - being the only one, everthing's nearly fine
    - at least while all CRs pause, there are no exceptions
    After all, there is just a single server for both BOBJ development and business application.
    I strongly agree to have a separate development and test server, but any progress on this may take some time. Thus I will examine the impact of the Crystal reports in more detail as soon as we have a clean FP level. The progress will be posted.
    Beside this: Am I right to take your tips stating there's presumably no rather simple cause?

  • 3D Reviewer - Configs Not Displayed in PDF

    Hi,
    I've been trialling the 3D Reviewer replacement for 3D Toolkit.
    Imported my CAD data (I-Deas Assembly) and then created 3 configurations showing closed, open & exploded positions. I Like the accuracy of the new move/rotate tool - good stuff. However on saving to PDF I've come across a show stopper, the configs come through listed as PDF views but the part orientations within the configs do not, all parts are in the same orientation as the default config. This is with the latest Acrobat Reader.
    Cheers
    Neil

    Hi Neil,
    Thank you for your feedback and appreciation of the product.
    There should be no problem with what you are trying to do.
    The only tip I can give you is the following: in 3D Reviewer, after you create the view desired with the correct exploded positions and camera orientation right click on the view and lock it.
    The way configurations work in 3D Reviewer is slightly different than in Acrobat/Reader 9. After you create a view in 3D Reviewer, the last state of the viewport when that view is selected will remain the persistent view and orientation for that view.
    Let me know if this helps, otherwise I will post a short video of the steps for creating configurations with exploded positions and exporting to PDF.

  • Persistence problems wit seam/hibernate and EntityHome

    This is the scenario(using JBoss Seam 2.2 and JBoss Application Server 5.1.0.):
    I've got TestCases and TestSteps. One TestCase has multiple TestSteps. I have a table that displays the steps and actions like "addStep" and "deleteStep".
    I use rich:inplaceInput to edit existing steps. This works perfectly.
    Adding or deleting a step however does not. When adding, I create an "empty" step which is displayed in the table and the user can then edit it.

    Hello gimbal2,
    yes, I initialized the collection by myself now and it works better.
    But I think there is a general Problem in the order-Example. The Example isn't implemented as described in the written part of the tutorial and has several other
    bugs with persistence in this example.
    I've installed the turorial with Update Tool. Is it possible that the samples in the update contain a newer/older version than the code that is described in the PDF?
    Thanks,

  • Sort ToyStore ShoppingCart rows?

    Is it possible to specify an order by clause in a view object made up of only transient attributes that uses the pending state mgmt facility ?

    Hi Sung,
    Thanks for responding.
    I’ve reviewed your in-memory / 2nd VO code, and I may end up using this approach. Thanks.
    QUESTION: can an ‘all transient attribute VO’ (with ‘Enable Passivation’ and ‘For All Transient Attributes’ checked) be sorted ?
    The 'pending state mgmt facility’ I mentioned is described in BC4J ToyStore doc.
    Experimenting with State Management and Failover Support
    This failover capability works because the BC4J framework offers automatic database-backed state management for pending data in your application. In the BC4J Toy Store application, the pending shopping cart information is not stored in the HTTP session state the way most applications do. Instead, with a declarative checkbox on the ShoppingCart component at design time, we indicate that we'd like this component's pending data to be managed for us. And the framework takes care of the rest.
    The ShoppingCart VO has all transient attributes, and has a special connection, ‘toystore_statemgmt’ to handle this functionality.
    PROBLEM: returns an empty VO when trying to sort, but is fine without sorting.
    This problem occurs only with Transient view attributes VOs - Persistent view attributes VOs work fine.
    Whether using the in-the-jsp DataTag / WebBean approach:
    <jsp:useBean id="sbCart" class="coco.controller.wcsb.sbShoppingCart" scope="request" >
    <% sbCart.initialize(pageContext); %>
    </jsp:useBean>
    <jbo:DataSource id="ds" appid="CocoService"
    viewobject="ShoppingCart"
    orderbyclause="<%= sbCart.getOrderByClause() %>" />
    OR
    the Struts Action jbo interface call
    ViewObject cart = am.findViewObject(“ShoppingCart”);
    cart.setOrderByClause(“vendor”);
    the problem is the same: returns an empty VO when trying to sort, but is fine without sorting.
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks,
    David

  • Transient  variable

    hi....
    i want to add a transient variable in EO and VO..but i dont know when i have add a transient variable in EO and when i have add a transient variable in EO and in VO.after that i want to give some java code in that transient variable..please tell me where i have to give the code setter or getter..but am getting values for transient values from entity object attributes only.

    Santhosh,
    not sure what your comment was meant to point out.
    Suganya,
    good question.
    Entity-derived view attributes are view attributes which map to a transient entity attribute. In a particular view row, entity-derived view attributes (like persistent view attributes) will never store values directly. Instead, they store pointers to values in the entity cache. Like persistent view attributes, entity-derived view attributes take advantage of Oracle ADF entity caching, which can aid in maintaining a consistent view and may save memory. These attributes are best used for temporary calculation and storage. Entity-derived attributes, unlike persistent attributes, can derive their values from complex SQL expressions, or use no SQL at all in their calculations. Bottom line, you use entity attributes if calculation of transient attributes is an expensive operation so that you want to avoid doing this over-and-over again and to leverage the entity cache for better performance or to share a transient attribute value between different View Object views. Also entity based transient attributes are updateable.

  • Issues in persisting dynamic entity and view objects using MDS

    Hi All,
    I'm trying to create dynamic entity and view objects per user session and to persist these objects throughout the session, I'm trying to use MDS configurations(either file or Database) in adf-config.xml.
    I'm facing following two errors while trying to run the app module:
    1. MDS error (MetadataNotFoundException): MDS-00013: no metadata found for metadata object "/model/DynamicEntityGenModuleOperations.xml"
    2. oracle.mds.exception.ReadOnlyStoreException: MDS-01273: The operation on the resource /sessiondef/dynamic/DynamicDeptEntityDef.xml failed because source metadata store mapped to the namespace / DEFAULT is read only.
    I've gone through the following links which talks about the cause of the issue, but still can't figure out the issue in the code or the config file. Please help if, someone has faced a similar issue.

    Hi Frank,
    I m trying to save entity and view object xml by calling writeXMLContents() and saveXMLContents() so that these objects can be retrieved using the xmls later on.
    These methods internally use MDS configuration in adf-config.xml, which is creating the issue.
    Please share your thoughts on resolving this or if, there is any other way of creating dynamic entity/view objects for db tables created at runtime.

  • Force persistent layout / initial view

    Hello @all,
    I can set the layout of a pdf document by the doc properties methods, f.e.:
    this.layout = "TwoColumnLeft";
    But after saving the active pdf document these settings are lost. :-/
    I need a way to make these settings persistent.
    Manuelly this works with the menu "File > Properties > ..."
    I think I have to use the app (and not doc) properties. But what is the correct way to define this persistent inital view of the pdf document by JavaScript?
    Best wishes
    Jessica

    Hi Jessica,
    I had a similar problem recently. I wanted to make every document open to full page view, and save that setting into the file.
    The way I solved it was to create a script that inserts a document Javascript into the PDF.
    So, to solve your problem, try:
    this.addScript("TwoColumnLeft", "this.layout = "TwoColumnLeft";);
    You could incorporate this into a batch sequence.
    I do not like batch sequences, so the way I did it was to create a button in the toolbar that does the following to a PDF when clicked:
    1. Inserts some metadata into the PDF (title, copyright, author, etc)
    2. Inserts the document Javascript
    this.addScript("Page", "this.zoomType = zoomtype.fitP;");
    3. Locks the document
    I hope this helps
    Michael

  • Grtting error Attempt to access dead view row of persistent id 1

    Hi,
    I have created one custom method which takes two object:
    Method is:
    public void testDeprtment(DepartmentsViewRowImpl department,CountriesViewRowImpl Country){
    try{
    ViewObjectImpl departmentView = getDepartmentsView1();
    ViewObjectImpl countryView= getCountriesView1();
    departmentView.insertRow(department);
    countryView.insertRow(Country);
    }catch(Exception e){
    e.printStackTrace();
    In my application I have connected the Depatment with Employee and Country with Location table.
    Now I am passing the values for the Department Object(Values for both Department and Employee) and Country Object(Values for both Countries and Location)
    It is inserting the records on all the four tables but it is giving me the error after inserting.
    Error: Attempt to access dead view row of persistent id 1
    I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.5
    Thanks,
    Vicky

    Is this in an Application Module method that you call from a backing bean? If this is the case, try using CreateInsert instead of Create so you can avoid calling this method just to insert the rows.
