Behavior Question

I am creating a Web site using two frames (upper &
lower). The upper part will have navigation and form input
textfields and dropdown lists feed by SQL queries. The lower frame
will display data. There are five different branches that will
access this site to obtain statistical information. When a user of
a branch clicks on their correponding branch name I would like to
change the SQL queries in the Where statement ...branch = branch a
or whatever branch. Is there a way to use OnClick (branch name) to
change the where statement and refresh the output to the lower
frame? I am using Dreaweaver 8 / VBScript

- So long as everything is being launched by a user action
in a link or form - why not just use a target attribute? Select the
name of the frame you want in the target drop down menu in the
PROPERTIES pallette. (you will need to highlight your links first.
Then to change your SQL - bury a parameter the defines the
branch and pass it along to your Application. You will need to go
into the ADVANCED section of the recordset wizard. So you will need
two parameters in your querystring - the first is for the data they
request - and the second for the branch they selected.
You could also store their branch in a cookie, and use that
as one of your Query parameters as well.

Set Speed behavior question

I don't gedit... I've applied 2 Set Speed Behaviours of 50% to a clip: the 1st one to the first 18 frames and the 2nd one to the last 15 frames. The clip's original duration of 00:00:05:21 is unchanged after applying the set speed behaviours. I was expecting that the duration would increase by 33 frames (18 + 15). I have not used ease in or ease out (they are set to 0). I have not blended the frames or used Optical Flow. When I scrub through the clip frame by frame, I can see that Set Speed has duplicated each frame, which is what I expected. But if it's doubled the frames and not increased the overall duration, surely something must have been dropped? The clip ends at the same place.
The clip's original frame rate is 25fps and the format is HD Blackmagic 10 Bit, 1920 x 1080, progressive
Can anyone explain why there is no frame rate change please. I've spent a couple of days searching to try to find a discussion on the Set Speed behavior in Motion 3 but haven't found anything that goes into the frame rate implications.

Good question as I originally imported the clip as project to ensure I had the right settings. This did create a project duration of 00:00:05:21, so I changed it in the Project Properties dialogue to 00:00:10:00. I then applied the 2 Set Speed behaviours and RAM previewed all. After frame 00:00:05:21 the remaining frames are black - ie the clip still ends at 00:00:05:21 even though the project's duration is 00:00:10:00.

MDIFrame\Sheet behavior question

I'm using PB 11.5 and I've modernized the classic PB menus to appear more web-like in our applications. Instead of embedding the menu on the frame's menuname property. I have a user object on the Frame's workspace along with the MDIClient that calls each of the menu objects like popup menus.
We've had good response from this approach, however a user questioned the behavior of the sheets when clicking on the menuitems generated by the "mergeoption = windowmenu!" setting. These are provided by PB via the Menu Merge Options ( SyBooks Online )
When the menu is set on the frame via menuname and the user clicks on one of these menuitems to enlarge a minimize sheet, the sheet returns to it's previous pre-minimzed state.
When a popup menu is used and the user clicks on one of these menuitems to enlarge a minimize sheet, the sheet remains in it's minimized state.
In both cases if the windows are in any other state these menuitems work the same, the behavior only seems to differentiate when the sheets are minimized.
I've considered writing a workaround, however, each of the windows functions will not restore a sheet that is in a minimized state. Closing and re-opening seems like the only possibility and we are not considering this option.
Questions:
1. Any known reason for this behavior?
2. Any other options to consider as workarounds?
Any input would be useful.

Open Browser behavior question

Hi, does anyone know if its possible to control the placement
of the window that pops up using the open browser behavior. I'm
doing a catalogue, and I would like that when you press a thumbnail
the popup window pops up to a specified size to the left of the
thumbnail. Any suggestions? Thanks

The DW open browser doesn't have the option to positions
popups. You can use
our open browser window which does, and has more features as
well. It's

Combobox behavior question....

Hi,
I designed my own combobox here since I didn't like the look
of the combobox that ships with Flash and skinning didn't really
work for me as well... ;)
Now, everything works fine but there's one behavior that the
original component combobox has that I can't seem to set up for my
duplicate.
It is when u pressed the scroll down button and the combobox
shows the option menue and you then press outside of the combobox
(just somewhere else on the screen) that the combobox rolls back
up.
I can't seem to get this going for my own duplicate. What I
tried:
1. made an invisible button (as bis as my combobox) and
applied action script on(releaseOutside)... - did not work
2. applied the same action script simply on the movieclip
that my combobox duplicate is and it didn't work as well...
It's probably because I work with a few invisible buttons
inside the combobox and they have action script applied and that
probably interferes with the one on the big invisible button....
The only thing I need to know is how to check if there was a
click outside the combobox.
Any suggestions ?

MBP fan behavior question

Hi,
Looking to (finally) upgrade my Powerbook G4. This is a very quiet machine, and the fans only kick in when editing video, playing games, etc. So I am wondering...
Is it true that the new Macbook Pro fans are on all the time? Are there any models which don't run fans constantly?

Logicboard failure may be more due to people not understanding how the cable ports are right on the logicboard.
Blame it on user behavior? Hmmm. Given the discussion about all the heat the MBP can potentially produce, I'd be more inclined to think along the terms of it being a heat issue. One of the problems with the G5 logic board was a problem where an area of the board (solder connection?) became damaged from repeated expansion due to heating up and cooling down. (Multiple users confirmed this issue and even demonstrated how heating the area up with a hair dryer would temporarily restore the connection.)
If there is a problem, I would put my money on the logic board not being built hardy enough to withstand the extreme conditions of life in a laptop computer (rapid heating and cooling cycles).
But anyway, AFAIK, that's all speculation in regards to recent MBP models. I'd be curious to see some links to discussions regarding problems people may be having with logic boards in these computers.

Show-hide behavior question

We have used the show hide layer behavior on this image map
and it works on most browsers except IE7. Can anyone tell me if we
can make it work on IE7. If you click on the little yellow marker
on the bottom of the page a graph will open. The students will be
making better visual marker later. I just would like this to work
in IE7 if possible.

7344 blending behavior question

I've noticed sometimes when doing a series of blended moves the first move in a sequence will have some (seemingly) random velocity, usually slow, and the rest will all be correct. Before the first flex_load_vs_position() and flex_blend() is called, all parameters are setup for the blending using:
flex_config_vect_spc()
flex_load_acceleration()
flex_load_velocity()
flex_set_op_mode()
flex_load_blend_fact()
with the velocity/acceleration/blend factor (-1)/etc that is desired. As mentioned, all the vectors AFTER the first one always work correctly, it is the initial move that sometimes is the wrong velocity. I'm thinking that this has something to do with calling flex_blend() for the first move, as some examples i have seen call flex_s
tart() for the first move. I have tried this, but same random first velocity behavior results. Must be some kind of buffer that is not flushed out properly for the trajectory math to work or something?

It sounds odd that with Start at the beginning will give you the same behaviour. Please check the example name 'Sequence of One-Axis Moves' that is shipped with the software for CVI or LabVIEW. It is going to be in the ...\samples\ directory of CVI or \examples\ directory in the case of LabVIEW.
You can also start with a simple move example, using start, and then include one Blend sequence afterwards to see if you can reproduce the issue, it might be possible that you are calling other routines at the same time or one that is overwriting the Velocity and Acceleration values. In the order of functions call the Blend Factor after configuring the Vector Space, then set the operation mode, and finally load Accel/Deccel and Velocity parameters.

Load Trait behavior question

Hi all,
I've been working with OSMF for a few months now and I've recently noticed some interesting behavior regarding the trait process. It seems that with a live stream, the getTraitOrThrow() method get's fired every MediaPlayer.currentTimeUpdateInterval with traitType of "load". I understand the reason for it being that it's trying to calculate bytesLoaded. bytesLoaded however is always 0, as is bytesTotal. Therefore it seems to me like the load trait should be removed. Is this a feasible operation or will it affect a player in an adverse way?
In MediaPlayer.onBytesLoadedTimer(), would it be acceptable to add this line at the very end?
updateTraitListeners(MediaTraitType.LOAD, false);
I tried it and it seemed to work, however i very limited insight as to the implications of this.
Thoughts anyone?

The LoadTrait is used for most than just the byte counts, it's also used for loading and unloading the media. If we were to remove it, then any attempt to unload the media would fail. (Unloading isn't explicitly exposed by the MediaPlayer, but you can call unload() directly on the LoadTrait.)
Note that bytesLoaded/bytesTotal will only have non-zero values for media that have bytes to transfer, where the byte transfer may need to be communicated to the user (e.g. display download progress in the scrub bar). For some media types (like streaming video), such a display wouldn't be useful/necessary.

Grow/Shrink Behavior question

Hello,
I am trying to use the Grow/Shrink behavior on some title in motion so that the text appears to be slowly coming and growing towards the viewer. My issue is that the text only grows towards the right hand side only, it does not grow in all directions (i.e., if the text is placed in the middle of my screen and the behavior is applied, the text grows but only to the right side of the screen).
What should I do so that the text grows in all directions proportionately?

I'm not sure what your issue is. The grow behavior simply changes the scale of your layer. The whole layer.
However, the scale is calculated from the anchor point of the layer, which for a text layer is either left, right or center justified.
Change your alignment to center if you want it to scale from the middle.

UITableViewCell Behavior Question

I have a UITableView with two sections. In the second section I have set the cell editing style to UITableViewCellEditingStyleNone in order to use my own image (which I set in cellForRowAtIndexPath). I was surprised to then see my image appear, not to the left of the table section where the + or - images would show, but inside the cell. And despite this, this table section is indented slightly on the left.
If I make that table section non-editable (with canEditRowAtIndexPath), then it is no longer indented (the desired behavior) but then setting UITableViewCellAccessoryDisclosureIndicator no longer works - the indicator (which I require) does not appear.
On a completely different table, making it editable or not has no effect whatsoever on the table. (?!)
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Vibrating behavior question

I am using the "light valve" filter over a montage with the opactiy turned way down and the speed all the way up. The light moves up and down over the image, but I want to make it not as smooth, and have it vibrate left to right and up and down. Is there a behavior for this effect? Or will I have to apply keyframes at each frame to acheive this rattling effect?

You can use parameter behaviors, in general, to do what you want - identify the object you want to move, right-click on the parameter (eg, y-axis position, and choose random or wiggle, and adjust to taste.

Spin Behavior Question

Greetings,
I have a concept which requires a still photograph to spin and move from a distance landing full-frame and starting a scene in a documentary. I have tried the spin behavior, and it seems to want to start it's spinning from the beginning of the Motion timeline and at the end of it's life, the object is at an unpredictable location.
How do I reverse this and tell spin to land the object at a desired location -- full frame , dead center.
Thanks much for any clue. I do see that the move behavior allows me to change the direction to or from the end point.

And I guess, to be accurate, you just set values in the inspector.
However...
When applying the spin behavior, I try to define where I want the landing place to be at a point in the time line and the inspector is not letting me set the x,y, and z coordinates. The numbers just stay the same or change a little.
The object has two size (or scale) key frames, the first makes it start small, the second brings it to 100%. Maybe this is causing problems with the spin behavior. Comments?

Another behavior question

I managed to get a browser window to open with an "onClick" behavior but it won't work with a mouseOver. Wonder why.
Also I couldn't seem to limit the behavior to one word, only the entire line.

Behaviors are applied to the opening tag of an HTML element. The nearest HTML element in your code is a <font> tag, which is where the behavior has been applied:

Using the <font> tag to apply the behavior explains why it applies to the whole line. <font> tags are purely presentational, so that probably explains why it won't work on mouseover.
The correct way to apply this, would be to create a link on the word you want to act as trigger. You can make it a dummy link by entering javascript:; in the Link field in the property inspector. Place your cursor inside the link, and then apply the behavior.

Basic behavior question

I created a slice and a simple behavior that onrollover to add a pop-up menu. How do you next add another behavior that indicates onroll off to make the menu disappear?

Video behavior question

I have a video player behavior in place that when the video completes, the screen closes and returns to the "home" screen of the app ( Navigate(Homepage, ScreenTransition!UnCover) ). It works flawlessly when the video player is in a non-maximized
state. If the user maximizes the video, the behavior doesn't work at all. Can some help point em in the right direction as to how I can modify the behavior I have ? any help would be great. Thanks!
slowly getting my mind around .NET...

OK. I think this needs to be reported as a bug. What I found is it actually does navigate to the next screen, but you see the full screen video player there, not the actual screen you are on.
put a video player on screen1, and set OnEnd to Navigate(Screen2,"").
If I play the video in Full Screen, at the end of the video, I'm just looking at a black screen.
If I right click, I can see that I am indeed on Screen2, even though it doesn't look like it.
As a workaround, I put the OnClick event to Navigate(Screen2,""), where I put a video player that takes up the entire screen (but not full screen mode!). I set the Data to the same properties as the first video player, and everything works fine.
I don't know if that will fulfill your requirements or not though.
