Beryl fried Xorg! It's fixed now, and I want to try again.

Those are the instructions I followed in my first attempt (in Arch) to install Beryl.  I ended up with a dead Xorg.  Commenting out the things I added to the config file and uninstalling the Beryl packages didn't fix it.  I even tried switching back to the open source "nv" driver.  Nothing worked.  I ended up having to redo my system.  I'd appreciate it if someone could post more specific instructions, and tell me exactly what to add to the config file.
I'm using the official nVidia driver with my Geforce 5500 FX (256 MB VRAM).  This is the one in the repositories, and I didn't have the unstable one uncommented at the time I installed it.  So, this is probably not the latest beta of the driver.  If I need to (this particular driver has worked fine with Beryl in other distros I've used), how do I install it without messing everything up again?

You will probably have to restore via Recovery Mode as suggested above. The passcode locked you out (I assume) and you can't bypass it in order to restore the conventional way. Read the instructions here.
