The iWork '05 Missing Manual is the only 3rd party book I know of for iWork. It's quite good too.

  • Album art download spotty at best, what best 3rd party tool works well?

    I have hundreds of Gb of music and probably 40% of that - no cover art.  Running this feature in iTunes does nothing - comes up telling me I have over 5,000 album art covers not able tgo be downloaded.  Tried various other 3rd party tools, not that many work well.
    Can anyone recommend one that works well?   I'm not sure why this feature works so unreliably.  I can find most of these albums on Amazon and can apply the art manually.    It should use some kind of fuzzy logic to guestimate the darn title and bring it down I would think.
    Thanks

  • Best 3rd Party Ram for MB Pro

    Hello folks,
    I've been running a MB Pro for the last 7 months and it's been doing ok, aside from the battery crappying out on me all of a sudden (my iBook Snow battery lasted like 3 years before it acted up).
    Ah anyway I brought a stock MB Pro with 512 ram. I want to max the ram, but I was wondering if anyone had recommendations on 3rd party ram. On my last mac I used crucial ram with no problems. Is their stuff still any good?
    TIA!
    -jlmcb
    Macbook Pro 2.0 GHZ / 512 MB   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   In Japan 'Airmac = Airport'

    Apple supply Samsung, Hynix, Nanya and Micron (which is Crucial) as standard. So any of these should be as supplied by Apple.
    Crucial.com had some 1gb sodimms for $60 or so, which is dirt cheap. Newegg.com had the same chips for $65 or so also. Last year they were $120.
    You want 1gb DDR2 667MHz PC5300 Sodimms
    So yes, Crucial is fine. If you see Samsung you want M470T2953CZ3-CE6.
    Best of luck.

  • What is the best 3rd party print API available with rich print capabilities

    Hi
    Our SWING based application is 6 years old and we have been using a third party print API that was available at that time.
    As it is a very old API, all the print features are not available and it provides just a minimal print features. Now we are thinking of migrating to a best available print API.
    What is the best third party print API available with robust print capabilities? OUR COMPANY IS READY TO SPEND SOME BUCKS TO BUY ANY ROBUST THIRD PARTY PRINT API.
    Thanks

    I just put this into my client class (removed the stuff i had that weren't needed):
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.Scanner;
    public class ListClient
         public static void main (String [] args) throws IOException
             Friend[] friend = new Friend [20];
             List myPals = new List();
             Scanner s = null;
            try {
                s = new Scanner(new BufferedReader(new FileReader("myFriends.dat")));
                while (s.hasNext()) {
                    System.out.println(s.next());
            } finally {
                if (s != null) {
                    s.close();
    }my file (called myFriends.dat, in the same file this program is in) has 3 names listed in a column with their birthdays right next to each and phone numbers right next to the bdays.
    when i right click on the listClient class and "tell it to work", it does nothing... did i do it completely wrong? lol

  • What is the best 3rd party dvd software

    I want to have video files as well as downloadable content like mp3's and pdf files. I may need to burn a two sided disk

    Hi
    Then there is no option to iDVD for not really big Pro Companies. Really.
    Roxio Toast are a great tool
    DVD-Studio Pro (if You can obtain a second handed one - and LEARN to master it)
    If there is no iDVD on Your Mac (and it's not on newer Macs as Apple discarded it) then You need a program that can do this.
    Your Mac can burn CDs and DVDs - BUT DVD as Data-DVDs not as Video-DVDs - they need a program to be encoded and STRUCTURED as such.
    • iDVD is part of the boxed version of iLife'11 and can only be bought outside Apple as on Amazon and e-bay
    • DVD Studio pro - Part of FinalCut Studio Pro bundle - this to has expired and can only be bought second handed. (High price and tough learning Curve - but best ever done.)
    • Roxio Toast™ - Not as elegant as iDVD - but has many other positive additions (I like it as 10-Pro incl BD-component) (now version 11)
    • Burn - only free alternative I know of on internet. Very simple - Just for doing a plain Video-DVD
    Burn http://www.digital-digest.com/software/Burn.html
    Fairly good resulting Video-DVD
    • Free DVD Creator.app - free from Apple Store
    (very simple - Quality ?? not sure - looked problematic reg. Interlacing)
    • FinalCut Pro-X which also can burn to DVD but without any nice themes.
    AppleMan1958
    You can also buy Compressor from Apple for $50 US. It will also create DVD and BluRay but without the nice themes.
    Yours Bengt W

  • How do you transfer songs from my iPod Classic to my new computer? The only songs that transfer are those that I purchased on iTunes. Is there a 3rd party website or something?

    I am trying to transfer 3000 songs from my iPod Classic to my new computer. The only songs that transfer are those that I have purchased on iTunes (242 songs). All of the music from my CD collection that I have on my iPod Classic will not transfer. What (if any) is the best 3rd party website that will assist?

    See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

  • Best practice / configuring SAP for hosting 3rd party users

    We're trying to understand what the best approach is for supporting a 3rd party using our SAP instance.
    Our company has always operated with the expectation we're the only users using and putting data into the system.
    Now we're required to support (consider it to be application hosting) another organization's use of SAP.
    The two options we've been considering are:
    1. Separating the data via role assignment / authorization objects
    or
    2. Creating a separate SAP client to support the 3rd party.
    Is there a best / recommended practice to accomplish this goal? We have some of our team in each camp and don't want to re-invent the wheel as others must have already crossed this bridge.
    We're in a 4.7 environment.

  • Best Practices Invoice communication to 3rd party

    Hi All,
    I am looking for some pointer on best practices for 3rd party invoice communication for FMCG.
    Background: Inhouse printing, wrapping in envelope and posting to customer is an expensive option to client, compared to sending invocie data to 3rd party and 3rd party doing above activities of printing, enveloping and posting to customer.
    Currently a text file is sent to 3rd party which is enriched with logo etc and merged into a template to prepare final invoice document. This is then printed by 3P and sent to customer.
    Possible Solution: We can continue similar apporach where ECC sends IDOC to PI and PI converts data in text format to 3rd party for enrichment and printing. However this requires development both in ECC and PI and testing at ECC, PI and 3P. Is the suggested approach the best industry practice?
    Would appreciate if you can share your thoughts around the topic on best practice adopted in FMCG for third party communication?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Namish

    Best possible solution for your requirement is that you must maintain customer master  data with their Email adresses in customer general data tab. Take help from your ABAPER and BASIS guy to activate email sending. Maintain output type for email same like you are using for printing. You must have a smart form for your invoice with company logo and all other information. When you will create invoice a soft copy of that invoice in PDF format will be sent automatically to that particular customer.
    For this you need to do some configuration for out put type. ABAPER will help you to convert invoice into PDF and BASIS guy will activate email sending. You can also search the forum for more help. Email output type in PDF format have been many time discussed.
    Hope it will help you in your requirement.

  • What is the best way to match back 3rd party vendor data to our SQL Server Database?

    So we have this 3rd party data that we need to match back to our database. We have determined that the "ID" column that the 3rd party is sending us back data is a concatenated key of our member's SSN, Gender, and CCYYMMDD Birthdate. In 90% of the
    cases, we can match back on this. However, the other 10% we have to try a couple of different ways...using our Member #, using what is called a HFCA #.
    We are talking about 10s and 20s of data here...NOT thousands.
    What is the best way to handle this via SSIS? A SQL Server Stored Procedure to cursor through the 3rd party data or multiple INSERT-SELECT statements trying to marry back the data? My thought process was to cursor through each record, try and match on our
    90% match, and then determine if we have a match or not, and then if we do not, then try our other means. Should I SELECT 1 to see which matching criteria to go with? So in other words, for the first match...
    IF EXISTS(SELECT 1 FROM TableName WHERE ColumnName1 = .....) BEGIN....ELSE...Blah Blah Blah
    or simply continue doing INSERT-SELECTS...
    I guess I am asking about the efficiency of using a cursor within a SQL Server Stored Procedure here.
    Thanks for your review and am hopeful for a reply.

    You are asking a SSIS question but posted in tsql - which is it?  But before you go further, which matching logic should have priority?  Member # or the SSN/gender/birthdate? Note that the priority does not depend on matching success percentage.
    In other words, you may prefer to match on member # first (even though it has a lower success ratio but a higher confidence ratio), followed by ssn..., followed by whatever.
    In any case, this sounds much more like a SSIS logic issue.  Your questions regarding cursors and stored procedures seem premature at this point. OTOH it may depend on what you are actually trying to accomplish.

  • 3rd Party Application Vulnerability Patching-Automating and Best Practices-HELP!

    Using Kaspersky Security Center Version 10.1.249I have been tasked to come up with a process to manage our Microsoft workstations and Servers to patch 3rd party Vulnerabilities (WSUS is managing the Microsoft side).New to the KSC interface since i have inherited the install but was wondering if i could request some remedial assistance almost to the point of step by step on how I can automate the approval, download and install of "Critical" Vulnerabilites.I understand that everything is a "task" in KSC but I am not finding anything online and i Prefer the assistance of my spiceworks colleagues over calling support.I was playing around today with individual pc's in our IT group but it only worked after I MANUALLY approved the critical severity (kl)update under software updates.Requirements:Currently we scan for vulnerabilities once a...

    I recommend finding out exactly why they would need administrative privileges and find GPO settings that would work for your organization. If they only need to install Drivers lets say, then only give them privileges to do that.
    I personally work in the IT Department (Army of two) in an environment that has hundreds of users. They program, manufacture, and design various products and we are not flooded with requests. No user has administrative privileges aside from the us two in
    the IT Department. This allows us to better control the environment.
    By allowing your users to have administrative privileges, they will always have the capabilities to "Override" your policies for at least the computers they have administrative privileges.
    Of course, each environment is different and should be considered differently when setting up users rights and privileges. To perform their daily functions, ask yourself what administrative privileges do they need? Maybe only allow them those privileges
    through GPO.

  • Best levels for going into plugins (Logics or 3rd party)

    What are your preferred levels to go into plugins?
    I personally record at +4dbu = 0 VU = -18 dbFS, to get a bit of headroom in my 24 Bit System-Setup. But I realy would like to know if there´s an ideal level hiting some kind of plugins? I´m feeling that e.g. the UAD plugins are set up at a Pro-Level of +4dbu = 0VU, as they are emulations of vintage outboard Gear. What´s your expierience and feeling about that? Any "best levels" in your setup to hit some plugins (Logics or any 3rd party developers), like EQs, Compressors and so on?

    tlester wrote:
    I think by keeping 0 = -18dBFS, you are doing well. If that's how you are tracking, then you should be pretty close to coming into your plugs at 0VU (-18dBFS), which imho is ideal. My strategy is to treat "yellow as the new red". If you are peaking around -18, you should be solid.
