Best approach to upgrade MaxDB AND move to new OS release

What would be the best approach to upgrade Contentserver MaxDB 7.5 on W2K server (32-Bit) to MaxDB 7.7 on Windows 2008 Server x64 (R2?)?
1. a) Upgrade MaxDB on the existing installation
     b) Create a complete backup
     c) Install latest release on new machine
     b) recover with backup from existing installation on new machine
2. a) Create a complete backup from existing installation
    b) Install same release on new machine
    c) recover with backup from existing installation on new machine
    d) upgrade to latest release on new machine
Both approaches share the problem that you have to run a OS/DB release constellation that is not released according to SAP PAM. The second approach has the advantage that the source system will not be touched and is still available in the original status if something fails. But the main issue is the compatibility question (7.5 not released for W2008, 7.7 not released for W2K)
Any suggestions?

I was a bit short, Chris, sorry. It is limited, what can be posted, when typing on an iPad.
Now I am back on my Mac. I meant the following: Batch Change the date for a large range of photos, that should have a date stepped in increments.
Select all Photos at once and use the command "Photos > Batch Change".
Then set the date for the first photo and select an increment, e.g. one minute.
Now all photos will get a new date assigned, incremented by one minute, in the sequence you have selected. So you will be able to sort them by date. This way it will be unnecessary to change the titles or filenames.

Export your HTML and then Just edit index.html with any text editor look for sentence <link rel="...................................>
Then delete all this sentence and copy this one

I usually copy the favicon.ico in the folder images so the sentence will be like this

Can we just upgrade BI_BASE and BI_WEBAPP to a higher release...

We hit a bug in our BI Portal which has been recently upgraded from SPS12 to SPS16 and as per one of the SAP note, the fix is to apply SP17 for BI_BASE and BI_WEBAPP. We applied it in our Sandbox and the error is no longer there, however I was wondering if it's allowed to just upgrade BI_BASE and BI_WEBAPP on the J2ee side without impacting or breaking any relationship amongst the components?

Yes, your basis guy is right. This activity will take time. This is not just the kernel upgrade, you have to do SPAU and SPDD. Also you need to do functional testing as well.
Whole process will take time and it is not just the basis work. Other teams will also be involved in testing, performing SPDD and SPAU etc.
Also, to upgrade to EHP1, kernel upgrade is mandatory and it will be performed by upgrade tool only during upgrade. I would suggest to read upgrade guide.

Best approach for layered drag and drop functionality

So here's the thing. I'm working on making a program with tabbed documents. Each tab has a JTextArea subclass in it.
Already each textArea has built-in functionality for accepting plain text in DnD. You drag some text over/within the textArea, and it'll move the cursor to where you're pointing all nicely.
But I ALSO want to have my program accept a dragged file. I tried two approaches:
1) Use the Frame's GlassPane and put a DropTarget on it. Problem with this is the GlassPane has to be visible to accept drops, and the problem with making it visible is that it breaks just about everything underneath it, including the text DnD functionality. I've made a rudimentary attempt at passing on all mouse events, but it still doesn't work quite right. For example, the cursor doesn't change to the little text bar when it is moved over a textArea.
2) I've tried putting individual DropTargets on the each textArea. But this seems to clobber whatever dropTargets were automatically installed for the purpose of handling text DnD. Why you can't have more than one dropTarget on a single component I have no freaking clue. But it seems like that's the way it is.
So how should I go about this? GlassPane initially seems a little more appealing to me, since I'd only have to install/create ONE dropTarget (or transferHandler) as opposed to installing one on each textArea. But what I'd really like is some function that could just pass on a mouse event automatically as though the glass pane weren't even there, so complicated things like mouseEntered() and mouseExit() on all the stuff beneath would work properly.
Okay, so all ramblings aside, how do I do this while duplicating the least amount of code? (I don't want to try and duplicate functionality if possible, since surely my implementation would miss something or behave slightly differently).
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

replace the default one. Your new transfer handler has to make sure
the logic of the default one is carried out.
Presumably your drop target will do something similar: paste the
text if the drop involves a String flavor , or open a file, grab the text and
paste that if the drop involves a File.

Best approach to monitoring 'status' and Time in BPEL/BAM?

I have a composite to handle 'Orders' which goes through various stages in the process. The process will change the status of the order as it goes through various activities, and the statuses include 'Submitted', 'Started Processing' and 'Processed'.
My question is, how would I monitor the average time that orders spend before they begin being processed i.e. the time difference between 'Submitted' status and 'Started Processing' status? Would it be using sensors (variable or activity) or feeding data through BAM adapter?
My Data Object in BAM is currently set to hold each different order and then I have columns to record the Time at which it reaches these statuses. Following these, I then have columns to hold the differences in Time between stages to see how long the order spends in these stages E.g difference between 'Submitted' and 'Started Processing' etc etc

Yes, your data approach is correct.
You can use BAM adapter to feed information from the composite level e.g. mediator to BAM
and either Monitor Express ( 1-click as one response below pointed out and our recommended approach) or Sensors depending on your preference.
You can send timestamps for various status from composite to BAM.
Let BAM do the calculations for you.
The order booking sample on BAM OTN under samples and tutorials will be a good sample to refer to.
Also there are samples on Monitor Express, BPEL-BAM ( highlights BAM adapter at composite level)

What's best approach to handle - Sales and Delivery on account without INV

Hello Experts,
How to handle this situation in SAP B1 8.8 or 8.81 pleasse.
1. Customer walks in to the counter for sale on account.
2. He/She receives the item from inventory and is given a Delivery or sometiype of confirmation printout without price on it. It is not the Invoice - Idea being, delivery pickers need not know the price paid for the item etc.
3. Eventually Customer company will pay the accumulated sales.

For this process, you still need all sales documents. You can create delivery directly for printing without price showed. Then you can copy the delivery to A/R invoice later.
A better way is to create sales order and then delivery to keep all records in consistent manner.

OIM: Disable User and Move to New OU

I'm trying to figure out how to add an additional event when I disable a user. I want to be able to do as the title says. When I disable a user through OIM, move them to a specific OU within Active Directory. Has anyone done this before?

There is a number of ways to trigger tasks based on an OIM USER disable event.
Kiran's suggestion should work fine as long as you include logic that checks that the user actually has an AD resource object that can be moved.
Another option is to use the "application effect disable" on the task (you find it on the general tab of the task) for triggering. In that case the task will only fire if the specific AD resource object is present in the resource profile of the user.
One thing to look out for is that MS has implemented move in AD as a copy and delete. If the AD system owners doesn't want to give your service account delete rights you will not be able to implement moving functionality.
I recommend making sure that the system owners tells you everything they want you to do to the AD account. It is very easy to miss a small but important details. Also make sure that you know if you need to support re enablement of the AD account.
We actually built this specific functionality for a customer earlier this year.

Best way to migrate iTunes and iPod to new hard drive

Currently, my iTunes Library is referencing music files that sit on my music data drive (E:drive). My Library is actually on another data drive (D: drive), while my OS and apps are on the C: drive. I also have a networked Network Attached Storage (NAS) drive that has a duplicate copy of all of my music files.
One of the reasons I have the NAS is to have 24/7 access to my music files through a Sonos Zone Player system (highly recommend this) hooked up to my stereo. The Sonos player is able to pickup all of my playlists but because iTunes creates the plalists thinking that all of the songs reside on my E:drive, they are broken links as far as Sonos is concerned.
So my quesion is, what is the best way to redirect my iTunes Library so that it pulls the songs from the NAS rather than my internal E:drive? Since the NAS is always on, I don't care that when I want to play songs on my computer, it pulls them off of the NAS. In "migrating" the music file links, I'd like to maintain all of my rankings, play counts, and playlists. Is this possible?
If not, then at a minimum, I'll be swapping out my E:drive for a larger one and need to know the best way to migrate the music files. It would be simple to just take out my current music file drive, swap in the new drive, and copy the files from the NAS drive onto the new drive. Do I need to de-authorize my computer at the start so iTunes doesn't think I'm giving permission to a new computer? Will my play counts, ratings, and playlists still show up? Regarding the latter, I'm guessing yes since the Music Library isn't being touched (on the D: drive).

How to transfer selected apps and movies to new iPad?

I just received my iPad 3, and I would like to transfer some, but not all, of my apps and videos from my iPad 1.
I'm pretty confused as to the meaning of the Apps tab in iTunes. There is a list of apps to the left. Is this a list of all the apps that are "stored" in iTunes, whether or not they are on my iPad (or iPhone)? As far as I can tell, all those that are checked are also on my iPad. But there are some that are unchecked that are on my iPad.
Then there are "screenshots" of the pages of an iPad to the right. Generally, the layout of the apps on these screens match those on my iPad, but there is one app on the screenshot that's not on my iPad.
If I were to plug my new iPad in now and restore from this backup, what apps would move to the new iPad? How can I control those? Basically I would like to delete a lot of unsued apps from my iPad without losing them forever.

The apps that have checkmarks next to the names are the apps that are selected to sync.
Those screenshots that you see are all of the home screens on the iPad and why you see an app on the screenshot that is not on the iPad does not make sense. If you see it on one of those screenshots - it should be on the iPad.
Anyway - simply select all of the items that you want to sync to the new iPad. Click on the boxes next to the names to select them. Deselect apps the same way - click on the boxes to remove the checkmarks.
You can pick and choose all of the content in each tab in iTunes - apps, music, photos. books - whatever - you can control what it syncs by selecting and selecting. Videos included. All of these apps that have checkmarks next the boxes will sync to my iPad.
This is how you select the movies that you want to sync.
All of the content that is checked in iTunes is what would sync - but that is not what would be restored from the backup. The backup contains all of your app data and app settings, the device settings, safari history and bookmarks, contacts, calendar entries, camera roll - and so on. The backup does not contain your media - you still have to sync that from iTunes.
