Best way to make EventDispatchThread wait for SwingWorker?

I have been scouring these forums looking for a simple solution, but can't find one. I want to use a SwingWorker to connect to a server an return some results, but I don't want the EventDispatchThread to continue on until the SwingWorker 's finished() method is done.
What is the easiest way to do this?
An example would be great!

I have a similar issue but in a different context.
In my application multiple tab pages are shown. There is an option to close All Tabs. When this is done, firstly it has to save the contents in both the tabs.Each tab contains a Report which contains multiple views.
For single Tab, the save operation is as follows.
1. Shows a JOptionPane to enter the Report name,
2. For each view present in report show a JOptionPane to enter the view name. (This is done on a different thread. (Not SwingWorker) )
For single Tab its fine.
If multiple tabs, then Firstly
1. JOptionPane to enter the Report name is shown.
2. Again the JOptionPane to enter the second Report name is shown. It should have been to complete saving of the first report with its views first then only it should start the second report.
I have a for loop . For each Tab i will be calling a save function. Save function firstly shows a JOptionPane to get the report name and new Thread is started which will save the complete view inside the report. I need this operation to complete first before proceeding with the next tab.
For loop is called from the EDT.
Any help on this?
