Best way to position h:message

Hi All,
I'm having real trouble getting my h:message components to display correctly.
I have an h:panelGrid with 2 columns, one for the field label and one for the field inputbox, and I would like to display the h:message directly beneath the invalid inputbox as soon as the request is submitted. Unfortunately, no matter what I try I can't get it to output correctly (at the correct location while keeping the relative position of all the other components).
So, I'm hoping to get some suggestions from all of you on where to position the h:message components? I also tried adding an additional column next to each component, but it didn't resize when displaying the h:message, meaning that the text was squased into this small space.
Thank you,
Ristretto

I use the DBMS_XMLDOM package to parse through XML Schemas (about 2Mb in text file terms, thousands of lines (never counted them)) on my desktop, and including all of the processing I do and storing all the information in database tables, the whole lot is processed in about 30 seconds. These are fairly large schemas with lots of included schemas. I imagine it's gonna be a helluva lot faster when we put it on our server, so I don't think DBMS_XMLDOM is a slow way of doing it. Guess the best thing to do is to try different ways and do some performance testing based on your own business requirements i.e. varying size of XML messages and frequency/amount of messages being received.

  • SAP PI/PO 7.31 - Single Stack - Best way of handling 'TBDL' messages

    Hi All,
I would like to know what is the best way of processing 'TBDL' messages that are shown in 7.31 message monitoring.
One way I know is to resend the messages but if the volume is huge (100k+), is there a strategy to reprocess them automatically by creating a Job? AFAIK, a job only picks NDLV messages for reprocessing.
Please share some information on handling such scenarios.
(PS: I've been through many links with TBDL issue but strategy wise, could not find any concrete responses. One of them suggested cancelling all using SQL command. I would like to know if there are some other ways.)
    Thanks,
    Abhishek

    Hi Abhishek,
    1. TBDL message are handled automatically by the system. Is there a specific time frame(or any setting) under which they start getting delivered automatically? Or it waits for resource/thread recovery?
    - TBDL is an intermediate message status. Depending on the number of queues/threads for this adapter type, you will also have 5/10 messages in Delivering status. Something is preventing these messages from being delivered and this results in the backlog of messages in TBDL status. Only when the messages in Delivering status are processed will the threads be released and then become available for the messages which are backed up in TBDL.
    2. If messages remain in TBDL for a longer time than expected(like 3-4 days), is there a way to resend them? Any job configuration that can do this?
    - There is no way to resend TBDL messages. As above, this is an intermediate status. The focus should be on the messages in Delivering status and why these are not reaching their target and thus freeing up the threads for the backlog.
    3. I would like to understand what factors on sender/receiver side can cause this to happen? Any supporting/clarifying documents? (1808554 is already analyzed and we are on a higher patch level)
    - It is very difficult to answer this. There could be many different factors which could cause this to happen. Receiver system may not be available, network issues, bugs on SAP side etc. It really depends on the individual case. Best practice here would be to ensure any timeout settings are configured for the relevant adapter types. This can help prevent issues.
    4. Changing message status at DB level is advisable or not? If yes, then setting them to NDLV and reprocessing using a job is suggested?
We do not advise to make any changes to message status at DB level. This option should only ever be used as an absolute last resort.
Ultimately the best way to get to the bottom of this is capture Java Thread dumps and create a support ticket with SAP.

  • Best way to parse XML Message ?

    Hi,
I have to implement in PL/SQL an interface which receives for example orders in xml format. Something like this:
    <order>
    <order_no>4711</order_no>
    <order_line>
    <skuid>10001</skuid>
    <qty>34</qty>
    </order_line>
    <order_line>
    <skuid>10002</skuid>
    <qty>35</qty>
    </order_line>
    </order>
I have to parse this xml and store it into an order_mast and order_detl table.
I'm uncertain which would be the best approach. I read in this document http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/xml/xdk_sample/xdksample_040602.pdf to do it with an XDK Sax Parser.
According to this document the performance is better when using SAX then DOM for large xml message.
But how "large" is large? In my case the xml message can have theoretically several thousand lines, is this already a performance issue for DOM ?
Are besides the performance any good reason to use DOM instead of SAX ?
Are there in Oracle 10g any even better possiblities to do this ?
I read about some DMBS_XML packages, but do know them really.
I really appreciate any hint or suggestion.
    Many Thanks!

Apple has really crappy NTFS read-only that does not always work. And it is probably a licensing issue.
Paragon Software is constantly being updated and supported with their NTFS for Mac OS X - they also have an HFS+ driver for Windows that works - Apple's HFS+ read-only driver for Boot Camp / Windows does not.
I keep seeing problems and lack of support for MacFUSE, that could change.

    Hi Kirby,
I attached the UltraMax Plus with a USB cable. The UltraMax powers the cable so power is not an issue. I can open other files. Also, there is 500GB of files on the drive so I cannot re-format it. Although, I noted I could import the entire Aperture Library. However, I do not want to create a duplicate on my machine because that would be defeating the purpose of the external drive.

  • What are the best ways (for best performance) in MII to process the incoming process messages from shop floor systems to SAP ECC 6.0 and vice versa?

    Hi All,
Can you please suggest to choose the best ways (for best performance) in MII (12.2 on NW 7.3), to process the incoming process messages from shop floor systems to SAP ECC 6.0 and vice versa?
    Thanks

    Hi Surya,
Best practices for flow of data from ECC --> SAP MII --> Shop floor & Vice verse:
    1. Send ECC data through IDOC's/RFC's as messages to SAP MII message listener and BSL transaction process data and update directly on shop floor database as if you configured in Data services or later send those data by web service to shop floor system (i.e. depends on Shop floor machines).
    From Shop floor:
shop floor --> SAP MII --> ECC
    1. Use either Web service or fetch data from DB and pass data to BAPI's  for sending to ECC through BLS transaction.

What is the best way to update a polygons position? I don't want to create a new one each time, and there is no setBounds method.

  • Best way to extract all images from Messages?

My iPad freaked out earlier today and unfortunately I had to do a recovery and restore (from iCloud backup).  I say unfortunately because I was 90% certain I was not backing up photos/video (and there was no way to check before doing the restore).  And indeed I had photo/video backup turned off.
I'm mostly back to normal now, except for all the lost photos/videos.  I've gone through some of Messages to Save ones I sent there.
What is the best way to extract all images from past Messages so I don't have to tediously load earlier messages?   I understand there are some programs that allow one to go through a local backup and go through messages.  But for this I suppose I'd first need to make a local backup of everything, no?  Are those programs able to extract just images I've sent or do they grab everything (i.e. images others have sent me?)
Related, before I did the initial restore could I have easily retrieved the photos/images on the device through some third-party solution?
Lastly, and semi-off topic.. What determines the image name for an image in Messages?   For example, I Copied a photo someone sent me via Messages and Pasted it three times back to her (all at the same time).   The image filenames are IMG_6447.jpg,  IMG_4820.jpg, IMG_0291.jpg.

Thanks Kirby.  I utilize Aperture 3 by reference instead of a compiled library.  So I have individual folder/projects stored on my laptop.  By exporting as a library, does Aperture bring these folders and related images "with it"?
What I don't want to lose is any post processing I do in the field which creates separate versions and/or .PSD files.
    Thanks for your continued assistance.

  • Best way to load messages - properties file or database?

    Hi Guys,
I have a debate with my colleague about best way to load/keep GUI messages.
As we known, all those messages are in properties file, web tier will handle the messages loading to GUI.
However, my colleague suggested, we could save all the messages in a database table, when application starts up, it will load all the messages from database.
Please help me figure out pros/cons for both ways? What's the best to deal with message loading?
    Thanks

    allemande wrote:
Please help me figure out pros/cons for both ways? There is no big difference with regard to performance and memory use. Both are after all cached in memory at any way. I wouldn't worry about it.
The biggest difference is in the maintainability and reusability. Propertiesfiles are just textbased files. You can just edit the messages using any text editor. It is only a bit harder to wrap it in a UI like thing, but you can achieve a lot using java.util.Properties API with its load() and store() methods. Another concern is that it cannot be used anymore if you switch from platform language (e.g. Java --> C# or so) without writing some custom tool to read Java style properties files at any way. Databases, on the other hand, require SQL knowledge or some UI tool to edit the contents. So you have to create a UI like thing at any way if you want to let someone with less knowledge edit the messages. This is more time consuming. But it can universally be used by any application/platform by just using SQL standard.

  • What is the best way to import a graphic? & How do I create a text frame for a figure caption?

Hello all! I've been working from the FM book for almost 2 hrs trying to figure this out, so now I need your help. I am almost to this point:
    Problem I: Importing a graphic
First of all, which is the best way?
-Insert an anchor frame and then import the graphic into the frame OR
-Just insert the graphic and get the anchor frame by default
Here’s my importing and sizing problem:
I hit ENTER to make a new paragraph line (side note: the book says make a new paragraph by hitting ENTER, import the graphic, and then ESC m+p to shrink wrap so that you can avoid the graphic overlapping the above text. I do exactly this (I believe), but my graphic still overlaps the above text when I shrink wrap. What the...?)
I insert an anchored frame with position Below Current Line and alignment CENTER (I chose to the insert anchor frame, since this way I have control over its alignment, correct?)
Anchor frame is selected when I import my image file
In the Imported Graphic Scaling box, what do I select if my file is HUGE (3072x2304)?
-Fit in selected rectangle (when I choose this the image imports small and fits in the anchored frame with lots of white space around it)
    -72 dpi
    -75 dpi
    -150 dpi
    -300 dpi
-Custom dpi: 96 (I’ve tried changing this to a smaller number (20) and I get a message that says “cannot handle a bitmap of that size.”)
I’ve had the best luck with selecting FIT IN SELECTED RECTANGLE, and then I just scale the image with my shift+click. If I choose 72 dpi or Custom, my image imports HUGE, and I just can’t manage it. I don’t have a method for resizing these images outside of FM.
Problem II: Creating a text frame for a caption
Once I have chosen FIT IN SELECTED RECTANGLE, I try to insert a text box underneath the image (and inside the anchor frame) to type a caption in it.
In Create New Text Frame box, the default is Number 1 and Gap 0.25. I click SET.
Next, I double-click inside the text frame to begin typing, but the cursor is OUTSIDE and UNDERNEATH the text frame! What the heck??? I’ve done this before and it has worked just fine. Then I had another problem where when I did get the text inside the text frame, I would select the text frame to move it, and it left the text behind! (I moved the frame but the text was separated from it and left behind.)
THANK YOU in advance for your help. I hope I wrote this out clearly enough. I appreciate those who respond. P.S. I'm in FM 10.

My favorite method is to use a one-cell table for graphics and captions.
Import the graphic by reference into the table cell. Create a "Caption"
paragraph tag and assign it to the table title. (The title can be set
for above or below the table cell. I prefer below.) Now, whenever you
insert this table, it will be ready for graphic and caption. Another
advantage of this method is that graphic and caption always stay
    together at page/column breaks.
When you create the table format above, assign it to have a -2.0 space
above. Then, create a paragraph tag, such as "TableAnchor" and assign it
-2.0 pt font size and -2.0 space below. (You can substitute a different
point size, but it must be the same in all three places. The TableAnchor
paragraph will hold the table and these settings let tables fit against
the top margin where necessary. Otherwise, they dip down a bit.
I wrote this from memory, so I hope I remembered all the steps!

  • Best way for LV app to communicate with Database/Website?

Hey all...I'm pretty experienced LabVIEW programmer but I'm in somewhat new territory here with communicating with a server/website.
We are going to have an online SQL database that stores all data that we record for our application.  That database is going to have a web-based front end that will allow users to add/edit records.
On the other end, we are going to have a LabVIEW application running on a PC that will allow its users to acquire/input data, and also add/edit records for the SQL database as well.  So basically a web-based client and a LV application client, which will most likely differ in functionality.
There are going to be multiple PCs running LabVIEW client
applications (let's assume upwards of 20 for now).  The idea would be
    that the user could:
Query the SQL database for an existing entry, and then view/edit that entry or add records to it.
    Create an entirely new record.
I have played around with the database connectivity toolkit and was able to communicate with the SQL databases online, no problem.  But, I'm not sure if that is the best way to do this yet because....
    Here are our challenges/constraints/specifications:
Well we need this to be as low bandwidth intensive as possible as each LV client will be using a GPRS(cell phone) data connection to the internet which is pay per use.  Here are my thoughts on this so far:
Having local copies of often accessed records on each machine with incremental updates to the server to minimize bandwidth for queries.
    Positives/Negatives?
Send data to the server in a tagged format (XML maybe?) and then have a server-side application that parses the data and updates it to the database.
    Postives/Negatives?
When updates are made using the website front-end...we would like at a minimum to be able to notify the LV client that an update has been made (like a Push data/notifier service).
    How to implement?
POP3 e-mail for each LV client might be an option but is there something better?
The data types that we are working with include all standard types (numeric, text, timestamps) and also includes images (jpg) and sound files (mp3) and potentially video in the future.
Thanks and I'm looking for any and all feedback.  Let me know if the problem is still fuzzy...I will try to describe in better detail.

Next question: Can the clients (easily) talk to each other -- if they can make a single file for updating the server, that could help, too.
In any case, my first thought would be to put the different priority data in different directories. Have another labview (or even a different software package) running in the background, looking for new data (more often in the high priority directories). When it sees something, copy it to the server. When the server confirms the file has arrived, delete the original one. On the server side, it would have to let the client know it received the file and then unzip it/translate it/whatever and insert it into the database.
    Sound good so far?

    Matt,
Sounds good so far.  Interesting idea of putting it in different directories, although I'd like to minimize file I/O as much as possible, especially between different VIs.  I'm also intrigued by using .zip files to cut down on file size.
No, the clients won't easily be able to talk to each other.  All messaging between clients will go through the server as well.
I guess I'm really looking for how to practically implement this as well.  Like what VIs (protocol) should I be using to get the data to the server?  TCP/UDP/SMTP/FTP/SQL connection/etc...I have little experience making apps communicate with a website/webserver.
