Best way to transfer Word files from imac to ipad2

I have certain Word for Mac files which I would like to transfer to my iPad2 so that I can read them when traveling. What's the best way to accomplish this?

You're gonna need an application called Pages (Apple's Word). It's around about 12 bucks on each iTunes Store.
Once you have the app on the iPad you use a feature called File Sharing. File sharing is found in the Apps section of the iPad if you scroll to the bottom.
When at the File Sharing section you should see Pages on the left. Click on Pages.
To the Right-hand side you should see to buttons. Add and Save To. Click on Add
Choose your file you want in the computer and then Ok.
Sync the iPad.
Once thats done there should be a little Arrow to the bottom of Pages which imports the documents to the app.

  • Best way to transfer old files from iBook to iMac?

About two years ago, my key lime iBook died. Since it was pretty well used, I bought a G5 iMac and didn't worry much about the old laptop. I now want to get files from my iBook to my G5. I replaced the power input board and got the machine to start without incident.
I purchased a firewire to use Target Disk mode to get the files I want, but I'm having trouble making the two machines talk. The iMac can see the iBook and can tell me how much memory is left, but I can not pull up any specific files. The cursor spins and the finder is useless until I give up and disconnect the iBook.
My iBook is still using 9.0.4 while my iMac has 10.4.8. I think this gap could be the problem, but I'm not sure what to do about it.
Is there something I'm missing about TDM? Thanks for the help!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Your iBook does not support Target Disk Mode:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58583
Probably you have to take apart your iBook (quite easy):
    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/50.0.0.html
Then you can put the HD in a external enclosure and back-up your stuff.
The HD will fit in any USB or FireWire 2.5 inch IDE (or ATA) enclosure.
All this seems difficult, but it is easy!
Hopefully this is helpfull or solved your problem.

  • Best way to transfer certain files from old iMac to new (have Time Machine)

Hey guys.  I'm going to be in the process of moving my data over from my old iMac to a new one.  I have been using Time Machine for a while w/ mostly Snow Leopard and Lion on my old iMac so everything is certinaly backed up via those means.  However, the new iMac will be on Mountain Lion and it's a fresh clean install that I really don't want to muck up with all the *crap* I've accumulated over the years.  So I've decided I only want to transfer the important files to me and I'll install any applications fresh later.  The files I really need are my extensive iTunes library, all my photos, all my documents.  My e-mail is on IMAP so I believe that will sync on its own.
Can the Time Machine migration assistant that pops up with a new computer at setup able to do these specific tasks without an all or none deal?  Or should I copy and paste out of Time Machine or maybe even the external drive itself.  I've had issues copying and pasting iTunes libraries in the past where it lost its entire architecture some how.
    Any advice appreciated

  • What is the best way to transfer my date from my old iMac to my new iMac?

what is the best way to transfer my date from my old iMac to my new iMac? I don't have a time capsule, so I cannot use time machine.
    thanks

Your best bet by far is to use Setup Assistant when the new Mac first starts up to transfer directly from the old one.
It's similar to Migration Assistant, but doing it that way will avoid having an extra user account.
Either way, you can connect them via FireWire, Thunderbolt, or your network, but avoid wireless if at all possible.  You can connect both to your netwrork via Ethernet, or put a single cable between the two.
See Using Setup Assistant on Mountain Lion or Lion for details.

Best way to transfer DVD videos from laptop to ipad air

presuming they're not copywriteed commercial dvd's, you can use a program like Handbrake to convert the dvd files to mp4's that you can then import into iTunes and sync to your device.
If they're copywritted commercial dvd's then you'd have to break the copywrite encoding to transcode the files and since that is illegal in the US no one here can help you with that.

  • Since I believe you can't create a Photo album (book) in Apperature, what is the best way to transfer my pictures from my Apperature Library to iPhoto without loosing any picture quality?

Since I believe you can't create a Photo Album (Book) in Apperature, what is the best way to transfer my pictures from my Apperature Library to iPhoto (in order to create my book) without loosing any picture quality ?

Since I believe you can't create a Photo Album (Book) in Apperature, what is the best way to transfer my pictures from my Apperature Library to iPhoto (in order to create my book) without loosing any picture quality ?
Why do you think that? You can create printed Books in Aperture with similar themes as in iPhoto, and with more options to create custom themes on your own.
See this page - http://www.apple.com/aperture/what-is.html - scroll down to see the example books.
But if you prefer the iPhoto themes and layout, you can open your Aperture library in iPhoto, if you have both the current version of iPhoto and Aperture. Simply use the command "File > Open Library in iPhoto" and you can create your book in iPhoto.
And switch back to Aperture by using the command "File > Open Library in  Aperture".

  • What is the best way to import word documents from a PC to the Ipad2

What is the best way to import word documents from a PC to the Ipad 2?

You first need an app on the iPad that supports word documents - the iPad doesn't have a file structure like a 'normal' computer, and every file/document needs to be associated with an app. If you don't have such an app then options include Apple's Pages app and third-party apps such as Documents To Go and QuickOffice HD. How you then get the documents on the iPad will depend upon the app that you have/get as different apps may use different methods e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc.

the commercial is deceiving to me. i am not the most techy person and i thought that you could share full song playlist which to me meant the songs also. that is all, it wasnt anything you had said but i am really thankful you enlightened me because i would still be racking my brain trying to figure out how to do it.
You can share songs, but if there is DRM protection on the song, it will not play on the other device unless you also transfer the rights to the other device. You are getting into the problem of music piracy.

  • Best way to transfer disk contents from dead Cube (G4) to new iMac (Intel)

Forgive me if this has been covered before - my search didn't find anything on this particular problem.
My (upgraded, but ancient) Cube finally bit the dust during a power surge/outage at the house. Actually, it was just the power brick that died, but I have ordered a new iMac to replace the Cube. My question is on the best way to transfer the data and info from my old hard drive to the new iMac when it arrives. I am thinking of buying a Firewire or USB enclosure for the Cube's disk (Western Digital 120 GB) and using it as an external drive at the new iMac. Since the Cube is effectively dead, I don't think I can use Migration Assistant, can I? And should this transfer be the first thing I do on the new iMac? I know that many of my apps won't run natively on the Intel iMac, but some will under emulation, so I want to save many of them (Cube was still a G4 PPC). I also want to be able to transfer my iTunes and iPhoto libraries, all my Office files, and other data without having to individually copy them all. Can someone suggest the best course of action?
    Thanks in advance,
    Joe Crabtree

    Hi Joe Crabtree;
Please remember that you are changing from PowerPC to Intel architecture so you will want to install all application on the new iMac and only migrate data files. Migrating applications from PowerPC to Intel is a known way to create problems with your new iMac.
