Between clause in sql query???????

hello all,
following sql query is using for a report.
select trunc(m.spc_doc_date) prod_date,sum(nvl(d.req_qty,0)) order_qty,sum(nvl(d.spc_item_qty,0)) prod_qty
from spc_ppc_daily_m m, spc_ppc_daily_d d
where m.spc_doc_# in(select spc_doc_# from spc_ppc_daily_m )
--and d.blce_qty>0
and m.spc_locn_code=:locn_code
and m.spc_doc_date between :TO_date and :FROM_date
and m.spc_locn_code=d.spc_locn_code
and m.spc_doc_#=d.spc_doc_#
and (m.obu=:obu OR :OBU IS NULL)
and (m.customer=:customer OR :CUSTOMER IS NULL)
group by trunc(m.spc_doc_date)
order by trunc(m.spc_doc_date)
when i use to_date='22-feb-2012' from_date='22-feb-2012'
no data is fetching.(acually records are there on 22-feb-2012)
when i use to_date='22-feb-2012' from_date='23-feb-2012'
now data of 22-feb-2012 is showing.
i replace the between by >= & <=, result is same both case respectively.
why?
Thanks
yash

Hello yash,
what is the value of m.spc_doc_date in database ? is it date time ? also what is the format mask of to_date and from_date ?
Try this
select trunc(m.spc_doc_date) prod_date,sum(nvl(d.req_qty,0)) order_qty,sum(nvl(d.spc_item_qty,0)) prod_qty
from spc_ppc_daily_m m, spc_ppc_daily_d d
where m.spc_doc_# in(select spc_doc_# from spc_ppc_daily_m )
--and d.blce_qty>0
and m.spc_locn_code=:locn_code
and trunc(m.spc_doc_date) between :TO_date and :FROM_date
and m.spc_locn_code=d.spc_locn_code
and m.spc_doc_#=d.spc_doc_#
and (m.obu=:obu OR :OBU IS NULL)
and (m.customer=:customer OR :CUSTOMER IS NULL)
group by trunc(m.spc_doc_date)
order by trunc(m.spc_doc_date)Hopes this helps

  • With clause in SQL query data model

    Hello!
isn't it possible to use the with clause in sql query data models?
    for example following query:
    WITH
    a_test as (
    select dummy from dual
    select *
    from a_test
brings up a "XML Parsing Error: no element found"-error...
    BR Paul

I tried a slightly different query (see below) and the query worked fine and retrieved data.. I did not get any errors.
    WITH
    a_test as (
    select 'dummy' from dual
    select *
    from a_test
This works as well.. retrieving the value of the parameter
    WITH
    a_test as (
    select :Test_ID from dual
    select *
    from a_test
    thanks,

  • Between Clause in select query

In the selection screen, i enter April month i.e. 04. Now i have to go 5 months back i.e. November i.e. 11. Now from table T247, I want to select data from November to April. Ho do i do it.

    Hi,
If you want you can also use BETWEEN clause in select condition.
    Example :
DATA: LOW TYPE I VALUE '04',
               HIGH TYPE I VALUE '11.
    SELECT FIELDS.....
    FROM TABLE
    INTO TABLE ITAB
WHERE PARAMETER BETWEEN LOW AND HIGH.
    This will help you.
    Plz reward if useful.
    Thanks,

  • Help needed with IN Clause in SQL Query

    Hello,
I would like to know if it is possible to pass a value and a sql statement in the IN Clause
Eg., I want to query from a table as follows:
    Select Col1, Col2 from Table_A where Col2 in ('XYZ',(Select Col_A from Table_B))
So i want the result from Table_A where Col2 has values 'XYZ' along with all the values from Col_A of Table_B.
Is it possible to do so.. If not what other alternative is possible.. Because i have to pass a hard coded value along with the values from a Table in the IN statement.

    Hi,
you might have something like this
    Select Col1, Col2
    from Table_A
    where (Col2 = 'XYZ' or col2 in(Select Col_A from Table_B))Edited by: Sreekanth Munagala on Jan 7, 2009 1:37 AM

  • Where clause in sql query for updateable report

Why is the following not working as source for an updateable report ?
    select customer_name from temp_customers
    where customer_type = :my_field;
How can I make a filter for an updateable report that is based on a field on my page ?
    Greetings Bernd

    Howard,
The htmldb_item API package allows you to display column values in a report as HTML form fields. You have a choice of different types of form fields. In your example for instance you get a select list by using the function select_list_from_lov. But by simply placing form fields in an HTML page, you don't specify that those fields are actually supposed to update data in a database. You need an after submit process that is actually performing the update.
You can implement this type of process manually using your own PL/SQL code. Or you can have HTML DB do this for you. If for example you were using the tabular form wizard, you would get an updateable report, including the update process and even including checksum functionality to make sure that you don't overwrite another person's changes (lost update detection).
If you use the wizard, the report form items use the build-in display types. This means you don't have to do your own calls to htmldb_item as part of your query. It is generally advisable to use the build-in types as they are easier to work with and are only rendered for the rows actually shown as opposed to be rendered for the entire result set.
If you do choose to use htmldb_item, you'll have to code your own PL/SQL code to perform the updates and you should also include some logic for lost update detection. The HTML DB documentation provides information on how to manually process data from tabular forms.
Hope this clarifies your question about updateable reports,
    Regards,
    Marc

  • Clarification on using function in where clause of oracle sql query

I have an issue in regarding function using where clause of sql query..
We are facing performance issue while executing query, so in what ways to improve the performance of the query which i have posted below.
    select col ,case when my_function(parameter)
    from tab1 a ,tab2 b,tabl3 c
    where a.column1=b.column2
    and b.column3 =c.column6
    and my_function(parameter)>0
    Regards
    Dinesh
Edited by: wild fire on May 18, 2012 4:15 PM

    Dinesh,
remind that when you use a function in the where clause it normally will get started for each record in the table.
    So your answer is two-fold:
    1. make the function only start when needed by adding a function based index on the table (this will make inserts and updates slower)
    2. make the function faster by adding the DETERMINISTIC clause if possible. this will make Oracle "cache" the result of the function.

  • SQL between clause & index question

I currently have the below CTAS that uses between clause to identify the date range from the parameter table and then query a history table on a different database. The history table has index in the acct_date column. The below SQL is slow and takes a long time.
    create table temp1 as
    select acct_date,cust_ord_1,fin_fclty_2,cust_ord_ship_3,
    cust_ship_4,fin_item_5,sls_q,sls_tran_a
    from pgt.pg_orders@jtu where acct_date between
(select value from pgm_parameters where parameter='wk_minday') and
    (select value from pgm_parameters where parameter='wk_maxday');
Please advise of any changes that I can do to tune the script and make it execute faster. Thanks in advance.

  • Problem with SQL query region source containing OLAP clauses

    Hi team,
I believe I found a bug when HTMLDB validates the SQL Query in a report region.
My query includes an ORDER BY clause within a windowing function and HTMLDB refuses to accept the source owing to the presence of the ORDER BY and the column heading sort preference.
Clearly the order-by in a window function has little to do with the column heading sort, but this error prevents me from updating the conditional display item in the page definition.
Note also that the page was imported smoothly from the 1.5 version, so probably the region source is not checked at that time, but only when you update it "manually".
So, in the end, if I don't change anything the page works because the sql query is assumed to be correct but unfortunately I need to change the condition and I cannot.
The problem shows up in page 126 of app 21670, SQL query region.
    Bye,
    Flavio
PS: may be I can work around this by using the pl/sql function returning the sql query.

    Flavio,
We're aware of this problem. For now, your workaround is described in this thread:
HTMLDB 1.6 and "order by" in analytic functions

  • How do I modify the WHERE clause in my SQL query?

This seems like such a straight-forward part of the report design, but I'm fairly new to Crystal Reports and I only have experience with modifying reports someone else has already written.  In this particular case, I just need to modify the WHERE clause of the SQL query.  I can select Show SQL Query and see what statement is being used to select data, but I can't find where to modify it since it's grayed out.  I see how to change the selection criteria, parameters, grouping, etc...just not the WHERE clause.  The report is linked to a database used for reporting with a table created and populated by a stored procedure.  I don't need to modify the stored procedure because the data I want to filter by is currently in the table--I just don't know how to filter by what I need.  Here's part of the query:
    SELECT "rpt_dist"."startdate", "rpt_dist"."transtype", "rpt_dist"."laborcode", "rpt_dist"."crewid", "rpt_dist"."regularhrs" FROM   "Reporting"."dbo"."rpt_dist" "rpt_dist"
    WHERE  (rpt_dist."transtype" <> 'WORK' AND rpt_dist."transtype" <> 'WMATL') AND rpt_dist."laborcode" LIKE 'S%' AND (rpt_dist."crewid" = 'HOUS' OR rpt_dist."crewid" = 'HOUS2' ...
I would like to add another crewid to the WHERE clause.  Thanks for any input.

1.Open the report in the crystal designer
2.Go to the field explorer(if hidden go to view menu->field explorer)
3.Rt. click on the database fields->choose database expert
4.Now you will see 2 columns-Available DataSource  and Selected Tables
5.Rt. click on the object(ex.command) available in the Selected Tables column->Choose Edit command
6.A new Modify Command window will appear, here you can edit your SQL Query
I get to step 4 and I see the two columns including my database and the report table, but there is no command object available.  If I right-click on my table, I can just view the Properties. ??
As for the other tip to modify the record selection:  I don't see anywhere the other crewid values are set and if I add the one I'm missing, it doesn't modify the existing SQL Query and when I preview the report it throws off the results so that no data displays??
I'm using Crystal Reports 11.5 if that makes a difference.  Thanks again.

  • How to dynamically update columns in a where clause to a SQL query in OSB?

    Hi Gurus,
I have a requirement where in we need to dynamically update a where clause to a SQL query in OSB(11.1.1.6.0).
    For example:
If the JCA sql string is "select * from emp where emp_id = 100 and emp_status ='Permanent'" now i want to change this where clause and the new query has to be like "select * from emp where emp_name like 'S%' and emp_dept like 'IT' ". basically we need to change the where clause dynamically.
We can also use "fn-bea:execute-sql()" in a xquery but I don't want to use this function as creates a new connection.
I have done some home work and found out --> as per the DOC "http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/dev.1111/e15866/jca.htm#OSBDV943" section: "25.5.2 JCA Transport Configuration for Proxy and Business Services", when a business service is created by using JCA, we can see Interaction Spec Properties under JCA Transport Tab. This will have a property "SqlString' and we can over ride it. But I am unable to figure out how to over ride the value. I have tried by using Transport Headers activity but no luck. Please guide me how to achieve this?
    Thanks in advance
    Surya

    I solved my problem.
In my header renderer, I simply added a line to set the text to the object value "label.setText( (String) value );" (where label is an instance of a JLabel.
Thank you to who took some time to think about it.
    Marc

  • Visual Web - How to 'setObject' for an SQL query with an IN  ? clause

Hello, I am relatively new to visual web pack. I am stuck at writing the java code for passing parameters to the SQL query. In a normal scenario, where we need to check if some variable is present in a column (= ?), we would pass the parameter as :
    setObject(1, whatevervalue);
How do we pass parameters if we need to check for more than one variable? The query editor in VWP has the option IN, which allows us to check for more than one match in a column. The IN clause is supposed to allow the format ('ex1', 'ex2' ...). I tried using an array as a parameter, like, setObject(1, somearray). It gives me a null exception. I even tried sending a variable in ('ex1', 'ex2' ...) format; doesn't like it either.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
