BEx 7.X + MS Excel 2007 - Max number of Rows

Hi,
I've been looking for some way to show more than 65k rows in Excel 2007 using BEx Analyzer 7.X.
I have a customer that has this issue. I know that use more than 65k rows is not a property of a BI report and reports with more than 65k rows would have problems with performance, but my customer has this issue.
Do you know some way to solve this problem? Can Excel 2007 + BEx Analyzer 7.X show more than 65k rows?
Thanks,
Best Regards,
Marco Muniz

Hi Marco,
as far as I know in Excel 2007 it is possible to show
1,048,576 rows by 16,384 columns

  • Max number of rows in a BEX structure

    Hi gurus,
we need to create a structure with 164 key figures, and before starting doing it, does anybody knows which is the max number of rows that can be created on a BEX structure?
I'm not asking about max number of rows on a query, i'm asking about the number of entries that you can manually create on a structure. Is there a maximum?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Migual,

  • Report created in SAP/ BEx 7.1 with Excel 2007 can't be opened by 2000/2003

    Hi
We're currently in the process of migrating to Office 2007 from both 2000 & 2003 and we're finding in testing that staff who use BEx Analyser with SAP 7.1 to create queries and send embedded in reports to others can not be opened by recipients who are still on Excel 2000 or 2003.    Staff who already using Excel 2007 can open the reports however not on earlier versions.  We are ensuring the excel file is saved as the file type .xls so there's no reason we can see why it shouldn't open successfully.
    Has anyone else experienced this?
    Many thanks

    Hi,
you can ask your Basis and Network Person to install these patches on your system. SAP patches can be downloaded from service market place / solman (these days). And rest will be available on Internet. You can also visit service.sap.com for more details (you need logon id for this).
    1. goto service.sap.com/bi
    2. expand "Product Information SAP NetWeaver 7.0 - BI"
    3. expand "BI Business Explorer"
    4. click on "MS Operating System & MS Office Compatibilities with BEx"
there you'll find details about MS Operating System & MS Office Compatibilities with BEx.

  • Max number of rows?

    Hi,
We have a new implementation of Enterprise X1 3.1 and are trying to determine what determines the maximum number of rows that can successfully be generated using Webi.  Is there a hard limit that Webi has (assuming the Universe max rows is deactivated)?
Also, is there a limit for Live Office extractions into Excel?  What are the main drivers for this limit?
Finally, all other factors being equal, are there different limits for the number of rows a query can return successfully in Webi vs Deski vs BEx?  How does the performance of these three tools compare to each other in terms of speed?
    Thanks!
    Darryl

Thanks for your reply!  I also got a response back from SAP / BObj that I'll share:
    Q) We have a new implementation of Enterprise X1 3.1 and are trying to determine what determines the maximum number of rows that can successfully be generated using Webi. Is there a hard limit that Webi has (assuming the Universe max rows are deactivated)?
=> There is a limit to the number of pages Web Intelligence reports can have. This is because there are a maximum number of pages (per report) the server can process. This number depends on the paper size chosen. Generally, it is approximately 590000 inches vertically by 590000 inches horizontally. Therefore, if you choose a smaller paper size, you get more pages but may not see all the pages of the report.
    Resolution:
To work around this behavior, you can either make each line smaller to get more records, or split your report into more than one report to see all your data.
    Q) Is there a limit for Live Office extractions into Excel? What are the main drivers for this limit?
=> By default its set to 512 rows and columns....however you can change this by modifying the Liveoffice_config.properties file...you can locate this file in /dswsbobje/lib/dsws_liveoffice_provider.jar.
    Q) Are there different limits for the number of rows a query can return successfully in Webi vs. Deski?
=> Although there is no official limit on the number of rows that can be handled by DeskI, it is really not meant to be used like a database, i.e. for returning millions of rows. The purpose of BusinessObjects reporting tools is to get useful information, which is not possible with millions of rows.
=> It has been observed that when the number of rows increases beyond 1.5 million approximately, it starts affecting the Desktop Intelligence performance. This behavior may vary from machine to machine depending upon the available resources and programs (processes) running in the background.
=> The limit is related to the number of rows those can actually be displayed in the report and not how many can be loaded into the data cube. All the rows get loaded in the cube however when it comes to rendering them in the report the problem may arise.
Example: Report A returns 2 million rows into the cube however due to the report design there are only 200 rows in the actual report page and can be run successfully. Report B tries to render all 2 million rows into the actual report page and can fail.
    Workaround:
Use filters in the report so that it will retrieve less number of rows and will also help to display useful data.

  • Max number of rows to display in a pivot table

I have a pivot table with two row levels and I need to fix the max amount of rows to display at the second level to five. Can I do that on excel 2013?
    Example
    Row Levels
    Machine A
    Part 1 (to be displayed)
    Part 2 (to be displayed)
    Part 3 (to be displayed)
    Part 4 (to be displayed)
    Part 5 (to be displayed)
    Part 6 (not displayed)
    Machine B
    Part 1 (to be displayed)
    Part 2 (to be displayed)
    Part 3 (to be displayed)
    Part 4 (to be displayed)
    Part 5 (to be displayed)
    Part 6 (not displayed)
     and so go on.

    Hello,
you can use a filter to display only the top 5 items of the second level, based on their value. To do that, right-click on a label in the second level, then select Filter > Top 10.  Change the 10 to a 5 in the next dialog.
You can also create a label filter, but it only takes one filter condition.
Another way is to select the rows you don't want to be shown, then use right-click > Filter > Hide Selected Items

  • Open new Excel sheet when number of rows is too big

    Hi again,
I'm using ActiveX to write some data to Excel. It is common that the amount of data that I want to write to Excel takes more than the 65536 rows of a sheet, so every time this number of rows is reached I wanted to open a new sheet and write data to it and so one. The writting part is alrigth (I adapted the Write Table to XL.vi), I can see the row current row number I am writting data to and I now how to open the new sheet and write to it. The problem is that I don't seem to find a way to open the new sheet only once after the row nº is greater than 65536...  I don't know where to test the row number...I join my code if you have some time to look at it, any suggestion would be of great help.
I hope you understand my problem...
    Best regards,
    Isabel

Here is the change that I suggested.  I use the modulus for simplicity to wrap the 65535 back to 0.  A new sheet is added only when the row and column indexes are both at 0.  The shift registers are used to hold the current value of the Sheet reference.
I also correct several bugs in your code with comments on why.
The nested for loops used is the Example code is only suitable for a small amount of data.  The proper way to transfer a large array to Excel is with a Block Write.  Your data array would need to be broken into worksheet-sized chunks and written with a single Range->Value write using the double indexed data.

  • How to set max. number of rows in a table?

    Hi,
I'm working on a SCADA interface. In this application there are different tables with vertical scroll bar.
I prefer to make visible only the initialized rows (I've initialized 40 blank rows of a table with a string array). Since the window not contain all 40 rows but only 20 rows, I set the rows number of "table properties window" to 20; so I added a vertical scroll bar.
Now, when a user scroll the scroll-bar, he can view not only the 40 rows initializated, but an undefined number of rows.
There's a way to visualize only a limited number of rows?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Table's max number of rows

    Hi,
I am a newbie to Oracle and I would like to get you comment of the following questions:
    1. What it the maximun number of rows that a table should have in order to be adequately handled in the sense of Create, Read, Update and Delete?
    2. To be more specific , let say I have the following table:
    file_id (INT)
    senetence_id (INT)
    sentence (CLOB)
    Primary key (file_id, senetence_id)
The queries I would like to do are:
select - select all sentences for a certain file_id
insert - insert a new sentence (for a specific file_id)
    delete - delete a sentence for a specific file_id.
search - get all sentences that contain a specifc string
The table's size is going to growth and could get to millions and even more.
Could i get into a point where I couldn't "work" with the table.
Thank you in advance for your assitance

    Hi,
    Welcome to forums.oracle.com
I am not sure of what you are looking for, DB itself used for storing information irrespective of Size of data (as its going to increased day by day).
The queries I would like to do are:
select - select all sentences for a certain file_id
    select *
    from <table_name>
    where file_id = <specific_fileid>
insert - insert a new sentence (for a specific file_id)
    insert into <table_name>
    select <specific file_id>, <sentence>,EMPTY_CLOB()
    from dual
    or
    insert into <table_name> values (<specific file_id>, <sentence>,EMPTY_CLOB())
    delete - delete a sentence for a specific file_id.
    delete from <table_name> where file_id = <specific file_id>
search - get all sentences that contain a specifc string
    select from <table_name> where file_id = <specific file_id>
I could not able to understand further, are you looking specific to CLOB in your table. ??

  • BEx 7.0 - Save EXCEL 2007 workbooks in .XLS - format

    Hi there,
I am currently creating some workbooks with BEx 7.0 .
I am using Excel2007, so the workbooks are saved as .XLSM files. However, it should be possible to open them with an Excel 2003 installation as well, so I tried to safe the workbooks as .XLS files.
I tried to proceed according to SAP OSS note 1052761 (changing the default format in which workbooks are saved to Excel 97 - 2003), but this did not work (the note also only aplies to BEX 3.5).
(I tried saving an old workbook under a new name as well as creating a new workbook from scratch. In both cases, .XLSM files where created and EXCEL 2003 users received error messages when trying to open the workbook).
Does anyone have a piece of advice for me?
    Thanks in advance.

I do now see that you are correct: there is a difference between Excel 2007 and Excel 2010. Your particular usage is somewhat unusual and there probably isn't anything you can do, except to recognise that you are a beneficiary
of it (although others may be less fortunate).
The type of protection that you are applying protects the workbook against certain types of change; it does not prevent people opening it, and they do not need a password to open it, so, in a sense, it does not need to be
encrypted. In Excel 2007 (and Excel 2003 before it), the workbook was, nonetheless, encrypted, and in Excel 2010 it isn't.
This change means that someone can remove the protection outside Excel (just by deleting that single line of XML), something that couldn't be done before so it is a loss of security.
I'm a Word person, rather than Excel, and I don't know all the details of the different types of 'protection' that can be applied to Workbooks and Sheets.
I have, however, not seen anything about this before and will ask some Excel friends if they know anything. Beyond that I don't think I can help any more.
    Enjoy,

  • Report Painter/Writer: Excel 2007 Integration

    Hi All,
I'm facing an issue with some reports I've prepared in Report Painter that are intergrated with Microsoft Excel. When I create a Report with more than 256 columns and execute it with Excel Integration it's giving an error: Run-time error '1004' .
When I debugged Visual Basic, it seems that the standard number of columns of Microsoft Excel is less than the number I required, this was OK for Microsoft Office 2003 version. However, with Microsoft Excel 2007 the number of available columns has increased to 16384. Hence it should work, but it's not!
Has anyone face this problem? Is this a suitable bug to report to SAP? Any idea or suggestions on how to deal with this?
    Thanks!

  • Number of rows returned for a report

I want to create reports on serveral tables, the number of rows in these tables varies a lot (5, 5000, and the other one can have 10000+ rows).
In the Reports Attributes page, is there a way to set the max number of rows return to the number of rows of the table? For example, for a table that has 10000 rows now, may grow to 20000 rows in the near future. If I specify the "Max Row Count" to 20000, the number may be outgrown yet again soon. If I can specify "Max Row Count" to "Current number of rows in the table" then this problem will not happen. Can it be done?

that "Max Row Count" attribute is used to limit the number of rows returned by a htmldb report region. in your case it sounds as if you want to show all available rows all the time. in that case you'd be fine to just put a very large number into that field like 4million. that way you'd always show all your rows.
    hope this helps,
    raj

  • BEX and Excel 2007

    Hi experts,
I want to know if BW BEX can use the 1million row capability of Excel 2007.
When I am exporting data to excel, it is giving a warning 'Maximum number of rows (65535) exceeded. Result is incomplete.'
This is the limit of excel 2003 version.
Any inputs to this will be highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Uday.

    Hello,
In order to keep the backward compatibility with other Excel versions, BEx Analyzer still have such limitation.
Here is a detailed explanation from SAP Development in this matter:
"Besides the further testing need, we also consider that there are still lots of customers who have not begun using Excel 2007. If there is no such restriction in Analyzer, there might be problem when they have a large number of data to be displayed in Excel 2002/2003.
Furthermore, BEx Analyzer is not a tool for the mass extraction of data, but a viewer/navigator tool for data. And due to the .NET Framework memory utilization limitation, there would be no more than 750,000 cells displayed in Analyzer. Please refer to note 1040454. If we consider the currently existing limitation of 65536 rows, this would mean something around 11 columns. Even when more rows are supported, the maximum number of cells that the .Net process can handle would not increase, which means the displayed columns would be very limited and not practical either.
If you have to display so many rows, you can consider executing the report in the Java Web. This would be a workaround.
We regret to say we could not provide more positive solutions. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused."
    Kind Regards,
    Marcio
