Bex formula shows empty cell (NULL)

Hi,
I have a bex formula that calculate a few fields.
sometime there is no value in it (NULL)  and effects bedly on other formulas in the query. (NULL also)
i have tried several ways  to solve it:
multiply with 1
IF condition
add and reduce 1
but still the column shows NULL (empty cell)
thanks a lot for helping me out
points will be granted
nir

Hi Nir:
  Nulls used in formulas give Nulls as results. So you need to deal with the Nulls since the first occurrence, replace the Nulls and use another value instead.
To evaluate if a null is present use the function "IS_INITIAL" in your formulas, this is a boolean function and therefore has the return values TRUE and FALSE.
Unfortunately the function "IS_INITIAL" is not available for BEx queries, you can use it on transformations while loading DataTargets.

Francisco Milán.

    Hi,
    We are developing quite a few excel worksheet reports.
    The reports dont show the cells if contain formulas ( when opened in iPad or ipod  ),
    Is there any good solutions .
    Thanks.

    There is no version of Excel for iPads.  iPads come with something that lets you view the contents of Excel files but it implements only the common easy features and there are (literally) hundreds of things you can do in Excel that it doesn't know how to show on the screen, including some functions.
    If you intend to work with spreadsheets on an iPad I suggest you buy Numbers for iPad
    http://www.apple.com/apps/iwork/numbers/
    which understands more (but still not 100%) of the things that Excel does.  It is so cheap that you can probably afford to buy a copy just to see whether it does what you want.
    If you are doing things with spreadsheets and intend to be primarily working on iPads then I suggest you actually use Numbers on a Mac as well, rather than using Excel at all.

  • Sum is showing up as an empty cell in Hyperion Financial Reporting

    Hi guys,
    I am using Financial Reporting 9.3.
    I have a cell which represents sum of three cells [d]= [a]+[c]+[e],
    [a] is an empty cell, though [c], [e] have values, [d] is showing up as an empty cell.
    Any ideas to fix this???

  • Dimension member values not showing (just empty cells)

    Hi,
    I have an organization dimension (Business > Business Unit> Department > Account) and a single fact (Dollars) on my test repository. When I add my fact and any dimension level to an answers report I can see for example two empty cells for each member at the "Business" level and the result of my fact calculation. I've tried many ways to attempt solving this issue from aggregating my data to compressing all the dimension in a single table and still haven't had success. I also turned on logging and found out that the physical layer SQL being generated returns the correct values when I run it in my query tool.
    Has anyone experienced similar behavior? I'm not sure if I skipped a step on my modeling or this is a bug in my OBIEE installation
    Thanks a lot!!
    -Ignacio

    Had this problem when source datatype was nvarchar and the field was coming over as varchar with a length of 0 in the physical layer. Check your physical table definitiion to see the length of the fields that are empty for you, may have to change it to an appropriate value

  • Dreamweaver Developer Toolbox - Show border on empty cell using Horizontal Looper Wizzard

    Hello,
    I just applied a horizontal looper, 3 columns, unlimited
    rows. Works nice. One question however. On the last row, my
    recordset does not have data for 3 columns, thus, the 2 cells on
    the right is empty, as it should be. But my table has a border, and
    because there is no data in the cells, including a " ",
    there is no border on that cell. Cosmetically is looks like a
    problem, even though all else is correct.
    How can I get a border on that last 2 empty cell, bottom
    right? I tried adding a "&nbsp" before almost all the
    "</td>", but still could not get the border on that empty
    cell.

  • Show Empty Data

    I hope there is anybody how could help me:
    I create a Bex Query on EA Data (Account with same Key Figures) the Query is its based on a BPC Cube. In rows a only the account and in the columns are the key figures. Now not on all Account are values in the cube. I say in Bex Query that they should show Master Data. In Analyzer there are all accounts also the account without values in the cube.
    In crystal I only see account with values. I use CR SP3 and integration Kit SP3. I set u201CShowEmptyDatau201D to True but nothing happened.
    As second solution I create a formula in Bex with the value 1, take it in the columns but nothing happened in crystal I only see accounts with values in the cube.
    I donu2019t know what I could do.
    Second I had problems with the general connection of Bex and Crystal.
    In the normal way I create a new report with the Sap Integration Kit Menue. What is the different between this way and the way with the crystal function new report and use a new MDX Connection. In booth ways with the same SAP System I get different connection parameters. Which way is the right way.
    In addion if i set Show Empty Data to True, i get ask for the query variables and after it show empty data is set to false automaticly

    Hello Ingo,
    really??????
    But in release notes of SAP Integration KIT XI 3.1 SP3  SAP shows it as one of the big new features. I couldn't believe that this is a fake?? Thats was the basement why we use it.
    Is it in BO 4.0 possible to use only Crystal Reports Designer (which Version?) and a BW System with the Integration KIT?? Like in XI3.1??
    We only use Crystal Reports Designer with Integration KIT and the Integration KIT in the BW System. Is there an Integration KIT of BO 4.0 with transports for the BW System?
    I couldn't believe that it is not possible in XI 3.1. I stay in contact with the SAP and then im really angry because in the documnentation there is the option listed.

  • Referring to empty cells

    I would like to refer (link to) an empty cell in a other sheet, but always get a "0". In my data, there are real 0 values, but there are also empty values (when a test has not been done at a specific date). How can a create a link to an empty cell in another sheet in a way that preserves the "emptiness" of the cell?

  • Treating empty cells as missing data in formulae in Numbers '09

    I'm working with numerical data where many cells are empty (missing data). My problem is that when I use formula to make calculations, Numbers treats empty cells as zeros, and won't let me search and replace an empty cell with a placeholder (like . in excel).
    Any ideas?

    When we don't want to display the result of a calculation on a certain condition, we can test for that condition and substitute a different output. In your case, you may have blank input cell and you don't want to display the negative result that would otherwise occur. There are at least two general approaches that you could use. The easiest would be to go ahead and make the calculation and then format all negative results to a font that wouldn't be visible, using Conditional Format. A slightly more complicated way, as Barry described above, would be to test for the blank cell condition and substitute a null string. Here's a graphic of the null string case.
    When you have learned a few basic tricks this will all seem easy to you.

  • BEX Formula not working

    Gurus,
    My formula in Bex is not giving me any results, here is what I defined
    Margin Price = Price 1 + price 2  - (price 3 * quantity_shipped)
    When I check the query for errors, it's saying Margin Price is not correctly defined. Can you please let me know how to define this correctly?
    I am able to display all pricing KF (Price 1, Price 2 and Price 3) columns correctly in the query but the formula is giving me an empty cell.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi Chris
    It seems to be your input keyfigures(price1,price2,price3) are coming with different dimensions or different currencys thats way it not working properly use nodim function.
    If thats not the case check weather your query properties are configured for -ve value are not logically it should display though its negative values but in some extreme cases there is possibility that the setting is made in such way that no negative value is displaying teh query out put level.
    Hope its clear a little..!

  • I need help creating a formula that looksup cell data and give a value.

    I want to have the table "At a glance"  show the total days a driver has worked, there total in sales and there total in milage. The table shown is a example of what I want to have happen. I want to input any name into cell B2,C2,D2,ect. that is found in the row C2:C17 of Checkpoint (Truck 1) and Checkpoint (Truck 2) and return the total amount of day the driver has driven both trucks, The total in sales the driver has collected (Truck 1 and 2) and How many miles the driver has driven (Truck 1 and 2). I realize that these tables are not labeled correct. If I enter a name into B2 and the driver associated with that name hasnt driven then I want "N/A' to show in cell B2 and so one. I assume that the formula that is created for cell B2 will be copied and pasted into cell C2, D2, ect..
    If someone could help me with this problem I'd really appreciate it.
    Thanks.

    Hi br,
    To show the number of days worked by a driver, you need to COUNT the number of times that driver's name appears in row 2 of both tables.
    To calculate his total sales and total mileage, you need to SUM the amounts he brought in each day and the distances he drove each day.
    Your functions for this are COUNTIF and SUMIF.
    Formulas in At a Glance:
    B2: =COUNTIF(Truck 1 :: $3:$3,B$1)+COUNTIF(Truck 2 :: 3:3,B$1)
    B3: =SUMIF(Truck 1 :: $3:$3,B$1,Truck 1 :: $5:$5)+SUMIF(Truck 2 :: $3:$3,B$1,Truck 2 :: $5:$5)
    B4: =SUMIF(Truck 1 :: $3:$3,B$1,Truck 1 :: $12:$12)+SUMIF(Truck 2 :: $3:$3,B$1,Truck 2 :: $12:$12)
    Fill all three formulas right to the last column of At a Glance.
    To put N/A in place of the 0 in Roger's column and the empty columns, wrap each of the formulas in an IF statement:
    Bn: =IF(AND(ISERROR(MATCH(B$1,Truck 1 :: $3:$3,0)),ISERROR(MATCH(B$1,Truck 2 :: $3:$3,0))),"N/A",formula)
    Where formula is the formula used in column B above.

  • How do I create a JTable with some empty cells in it?

    I have a three column JTable. The first column is a String showing description. The second column contains numbers (double) and the third column also contains numbers. In some cases not all cells in a row should contain data. So for instance, I could have row one showing only description (a String in the first column), and then row two showing description (a String in the first column) and a number (a double in the second column) in columns one and two respectively. My problem is that, the data gets copied from the cells with data to the cells which are supposed to be empty. So, how do I create a JTable with some empty cells in it.

    I have tried empty strings for those values, but it did not work. My table puts objects in an arraylist called reconciliation. The arraylist takes different objects with the same super class. The code below explains. Are you suggesting I pass null to my constructor?
    JTable table = new JTable(new ReconTableModel());The method below is from the table model
    protected  List<Reconciliation> reconciliation = new ArrayList<Reconciliation>();
    protected void fillModel(){
          reconciliation.add(new CashBook("Cash Book Report"," "," "));
          reconciliation.add(new CheckingBankAccount("Checking Bank Account"," "," "));
          reconciliation.add(new BankBalance("Bank Balance As Per Bank Statement",500," "));
          reconciliation.add(new PaymentVouchers("Payment Voucher Receipt",300," "));
          reconciliation.add(new DepositVoucher("Deposit Voucher Receipt",1000," "));
          reconciliation.add(new ReconciledBalance("Reconcilied Bank Balance",1200," "));
          reconciliation.add(new BalanceAt("Bank Balance At",800," "));
          reconciliation.add(new Difference("Difference",400," "));
          Collections.sort( reconciliation, new Comparator<Reconciliation>(){
          public int compare( Reconciliation a, Reconciliation b) {
            return a.getTransactionName().compareTo( b.getTransactionName());
      }

  • How to get an empty cell when SUM cells are empty?

    When doing a SUM, I want the result to be blank if there are no numbers yet. In Excel, if you have =SUM(A6:A30) with empty cells, the result is an empty cell.
    In Numbers, it's a zero.
    I know you can use =IF(SUM(A6:A30)>0,SUM(A6:A30),"") to put an empty string in the cell if there's nothing to add, but this doesn't work for negative numbers.
    I tried =SUMIF(A6:A30,"count(A6:A30)>0") and it puts a zero there even if all the cells are blank, and I don't think it's correct anyway.
    =IF(SUM(A6:A30)>0,SUM(A6:A30),(IF(SUM(A6:A30)<0,SUM(A6:A30),"")))
    works, but it seems rather cumbersome.
    Is there a better way?
    Ideas?

    Hello
    The best way I found to solve your problem is:
    =IF(COUNT(A6:A30),SUM(A6:A30),"")
    Which reads:
    if at least one cell of the range (A6:A30) contains a numeric value returns SUM(A6:A30)
    else
    returns a blank cell.
    Of course, if the sum is nil the displayed [thanks you Barry ;-)] value will be a zero.
    Maybe it's what schubladenschrank was offering but I don't read Deutsch.
    Just for info, your formula may be shorten as:
    =IF(SUM(A6:A30)=0,"",SUM(A6:A30))

  • How to use rounded values in BEx Formulas

    Hello,
    I have the following question. Is it possible to use rounded values up to a certain # of decimal points in BEx Formulas?
    I have the following problem.
    Consider this:
    keyfigure val 1 = 0.416666667
    keyfigure val 2 = 72
    val 3 (BEx Formula)  = val 2 / val 1 = 172.799999862
    However, what I need to do is this.
    val 1 & val 3 should rounded up to 2 decimal points. So, I really need the report to show this:
    val1 = 0.42
    val2 - 72
    val 3 = val 2 /val 1 = 171.43
    I changed the number of decimal places on val 1 and val3 to be 0.00. However, it appears that these rounded values are not taken into account in  the Formulas, as if the OLAP still uses the original values from the backend with 9 decimal points. So, no matter how many decimal points I use on the Display tab for a key figure, my val3 or result of my formula is always taking into account the 9 digit decimal values, not rounded values that I want. So in the example above, my val 3 comes to 172.80, which it should be 171.43 instead of you use the rounded values in the calculation.
    Please let me know if there is any workaround where I could force my BEx Formula to utilize the rounded values and not actual values from the backend DSO. Or any other solution.
    Thank you

    If you create a Formula in BEx Query Designer like the one below, it works:
    val3 = val2 / ( TRUNC ( ( val1 * 100 + 0.5 ) ) / 100 )
    The TRUNC function (among other things) actually ensures that your formula takes into account the rounded values that you want.

  • How to fill an empty cell with the value above

    Hello,
    Please help me on the following issue related to BEx query and it's output in BEx analyzer as well as on Web.
    I am trying to modify a query output where the empty cells are to be filled with the value in the above cell.
    e.g. there is a column for transaction number, and this transaction number is the same for three rows, so it turns out to be two empty cells and only appears as if the transaction number applies to the first row only.
    not sure how to paste screenshot or attach document but would love to provide more information if the above isn't suffice.
    Please advise on what and where to modify in BEx designer.
    Thank you for your help!

    Thanks a lot...yes, now it works in BEx Analyzer but for some reason doesn't work in the Web view.
    Any ideas why is that?
    Thanks again for your prompt help.
