I bought a new mac. I registered it with my Apple ID. Nonetheless, Apple needs to lock up my iTunes account and send me this email?

C'mon guys, Steve has only been dead for a few weeks and you're slacking! This is totally un-mac-like. This is one Apple database not bothering to look in another Apple database.

    Maybe you have had this issue with other OS X upgrades, but I'm being prompted to log in twice to my MacBook Pro OS X Yosemite (2014 model).
    I've upgraded to Yosemite, from Mavericks, without any issues, until I noticed that after turning my computer on and logging in the first time, I see a progress bar load.....then the screen goes black, I hear the restart sound, then the same login screen appears for a second time.
    I then enter my credentials a second time, see the progress bar load (a little faster this time), them my desktop appears like normal.
    I've read some other, older, posts for older OS X builds but none of them addressed the issue completely.
    I've turned OFF filevault, to decrypt my HD, restarted and things seemed okay (1 log in request only). So I turned filevault back on, and the first time I logged in, it worked fine (1 log in request only). However, now, after powering off the computer, I'm back to where I started....2 log in requests before my desktop loads properly.
    I don't have the time out setting on "to request password after 60min". I don't have auto login enabled nor parental controls
    Filevault is on and my drive is encrypted. No special software loads, just the factory basics...
    Any insights or suggestions?

  • This is **bleep**ing stupid

    ok so heres the deal, i try to sign into skype the same old way automatically starting up when computer signs on that kinda stuff but it said it didnt recognize myy password for my skype username. so i try my password and it doesnt work, i figure out thats cool so i click recover password, and it takes me to some stupid **bleep**ing microsoft account, i didnt have one when i made my skype account. so i reset the password on my microsoft account. log into skype with that, try to connect it to my skype username, but it asks me for my password to do that which is what im trying to get in the first **bleep**ing place. so then i hit lost password from the connect exsisting username to skype account and it takes me back to the **bleep**ing recover microsoft account password page which i fill out again and it tells me ive recovered my account to many times and to enter the recovery code they sent me which i never got so im locked out of my account for 24 hours. why the **bleep** is it a merry go round of linking every account you have to a stupid microsoft account and having to go through forums and stupid next click "help" pages. Worst part i cant even find a phone number to call to get in touch with skype to sort it out . this is beyond stupid and frustrating can anyone do ANYTHING

  • Muse and the beyond annoying and awkward menus help with French titles with accents that don't work?

    I am doing a French/English site.  The only way I can do this is do two sites and then do creative linking.  That sucks.  Go Live allowed me to have as many pages as I wanted and Menu Machine worked pretty decently as it allowed me to have different menus so a bilingual site was a piece of cake.  Now I have to do two different sites and the problem is some of the page names in french have accents as needed in that language.  The village idiots at adobe did not take that into account and now of couse I have an issue and will need to create navigation for the french elsewhere and import as a graphic.  This is beyond stupid.  Anybody have a solution. Adobe told me too bad so sad the software is in its' infancy. Well then why the hell did they get rid of Golive which worked well for designers.  Because Muse is so dumbed down I am not able to do anything about the menus as the menus are dictated by the page names.  If you decide to do a manual menu you can not have just words with state changes as the bloody menus sytem will not allow that. The design requires just the words having state changes this is not abnormal.  REALLY.  I am beyond frustrated and pissed off and equally pissed off Adobe hangs us out to dry not even having phone contact just some dudes in Inia on the chat which sucked.  Any solutions? Anybody at Adobe actually understand this is a problem and might suggest it will be fixed in updates but in the meantime help me solve th eproblem easily.  I can live without stupid scrolling I would rather have solid software that is easy to use and some degree of fleixibility if you are a seasoned designer who does a lot of web. But dumbed down for the folks who just want to do a simple site.  Yikes this is frustrating. Any help would be appreciated.

    In Page Properties you can independently set the page name (used in menu widgets), the page title (displayed in the browser tab) and the file name for the .html file for the page.
    To create a menu where only the appearance of the text change across states:
    1) select a menu item
    2) select each state in the State panel and click the trash can to clear all pre-existing state-specific formating
    3) choose the Normal state and set all the text formatting that will be the same across all states
    4) select mouse down, roll over or active state
    4) set the text properties you want for that state in the Text Panel
    5) repeat for the other two states
    6) you may want to set the fill and stroke on the menu item Normal state to none, so only the text of the menu items is visible
    The automatic "All Pages" and "Top Level" pages menu functionality is currently limited to being site-wide, so for the multi-lingual site you describe your choices are to have one automatic and one manual menu, two manual menus, or create two sites. It depends on the size of your site, the complexity of your menu and your personal preference which is best for your case.
    If accents are not being preserved through your workflow, please share:
    1) URL for an example page that demonstrates mangled accents
    2) How you're uploading your site? Publish to BC? File > Upload to FTP Host? Export and external FTP client?
    3) If you're not hosting with Adobe (BC), who's your hosting provider.
    If accents are not being preserved that generally indicates a problem with how the files are being transferred to the server and/or a problem with how the server is configured. The output of Muse fully supports accented characters throughout the workflow.
    Many members of the user community are active here, along with the technical support team and several members of the development team, like myself. We generally respond most effectively to clear questions with screenshots, URLs of example page, etc.

  • How do i reset my Iphone 4 password without restoring to default?

    Recently I've been having problems with my roommates watching me enter my password which forced me to change it periodically.
    Only now I can't remember what I changed it to most recently and restoring it to factory settings isn't really an option considering the volume of the content on the device.
    I've been without access to my phone for the past week and it's getting almost aggravating having to call and talk to some lady about the issue I'm having, having her sound very empathetic and saying they could "assist me in resolving this today", only to have her say that I'd need to pay $30 just to have her tell me a few words.
    I don't have $30 right now and I think it's beyond stupid that they're 'unable to help' me because of this.
    In the Backups section of the Apple site I read:
    " If you protect your iPhone or iPod touch with a passcode, you will be prompted to enter the passcode when you connect to iTunes. Once you successfully enter the passcode, iTunes will recognize that device as authorized and you will not need your passcode to back up or sync (Which I've done). When restoring from an iOS 4 (or later) backup, if the device had a passcode set, iTunes will ask if you want to set a passcode (and remind you that you had protected your device with a passcode.) iTunes will not ask you to set a passcode when restoring from iOS 3.x and prior backups. "
    I've just tried restoring from a backup I created last week but my password is still enabled and I'm still unable to remember what I changed it to.
    I'm not sure if I misunderstood the bolded section but I was under the impression that restoring it from iOS 4 or later would remove/reset my current password and allow me to set a new one. That hasn't been the case.
    I'm not really sure where to go from here, so any and all help is appreciated.

  • ICal sync with Yahoo Calendar Beta ( 2 way) REDUX

    I'm bringing back an issue that was archived recently even though it was not resolved.
    Here it is: I (as well as many other people) am trying to sync iCal and Yahoo calendar. I followed the Yahoo instructions given here:

    But it only goes one way; when I add something to the Yahoo calendar it shows up in iCal, but when I add something to iCal it never shows up in Yahoo.
    People keep saying to just follow the instructions and it will go both ways but for me AND MANY OTHERS it simply does not.
    I've spent over an hour researching this, and this is a real live problem for a lot of people, going all the way back to 2008. I've seen dozens of different people saying they have this problem and I have yet to see a single solution aside from repeating the same instructions that do not work (for everybody).
    Some of the discussions focus on iCal's "Calendar" calendar vs. "Work" and "Home" calendars, claiming only the "Calendar" one will sync. If that's true then it is beyond stupid and is totally useless to me and thousands of others. But I doubt it's true because I have tested it; I've created events in "Calendar," "Work," and "Home," and none of them sync back to Yahoo.
    How can this be such a common problem and yet nobody has a solution? (At least not one that makes sense...)
    Any help on this would be greatly appreciated by me and many others!
    (Sorry if I sound a bit grumpy; this stuff can be really frustrating!)

    ...one more thing; in Yahoo calendar, on the left-hand side where the calendars are listed, it only lists my Yahoo calendar, plus US holidays and Canadian holidays. It seems to me that my iCal calendars should be there too. How do I get them there? (That seems to be at the heart of it.)
    There's an item to "subscribe to calendars" where you can enter an "iCal address," and the example they give is this:

    That's a yahoo address, not an iCal address. And regardless, how do I find the iCal address for my three iCal calendars? ("Calendar," "Home," and "Work"). And besides, is this for syncing, or just viewing some external calendar?

  • Help, I'm tired of Camera Raw opening all images over 100% view!

    How do I change to default setting for Camera Raw so that when I open images, they will only open at 100% and not 130% or 200% or 300%? What is the point of opening all images in Camera Raw over 100%, when I then have to zoom out to 100% for all images opened. This default is beyond stupid. I'm using Bridge CS6 w/Camera Raw 8.7.1 on a PC (ugh).

    What are the pixel dimensions of the images?
    What are the pixel dimensions of the monitor?
    Do you have any special display-scaling enabled?
    Are the images being zoomed to fill the ACR panel or are the filled to larger

  • Where do I download the Epson Printer Utility?

    I recently purchased a 24" iMac. Previous to that I had a PowerPC PowerBook. I used Migration Mgr. to port all of my files from my external HD back to my new iMac. Somehow, in all of that, my Epson Printer Utility vanished. It is not to be found anywhere on the external HD. I have no idea.
    Yesterday, I downloaded the new Intel Epson printer drivers form Apple. My Epson R2400 now prints as it should. However, my colors are off which tells me that my ink levels are low. But without the printer utility, I have no idea cartridges need replacing.
    I have searched without any success for Epson's Printer Utility. If anyone knows of a source for this I would be very grateful for the link.

    After reading your post I didn't know whether to scream or cry. I think you just solved this mystery. Not in a good way mind you, but at least I now understand these issues a lot better.
    To back up a bit: I did find a link for Epson drivers for my printer a few days back which I downloaded. And it is indeed the Gutenprint driver. This then explains how and why I spent all of today ******* in the wind trying to figure out why I could not -
    1. Get my existing Epson Printer Utility to launch to check my low ink cartridge levels and;
    2. Get my Epson Printer Utility 4 to launch.
    All of these issues were due to the fact that I was using the Gutenprint Epson driver. Just great. Guess I will have to use my old PowerBook to print out my business cards. I am sure there will be other obstacles ahead with this issue. IMO, all of this is beyond stupid. There must be some other way to check my ink levels.
    Anyway, because of your post, I now understand how all of this came about. Thank you for your very informative post.

  • How can I turn ALL notifications off at once?

    Before upgrading to iOS5, I could turn off ALL notifications with ONE swipe and all back on with one swipe... I do that when I go to sleep, because otherwise, my phone lighting up over & over wakes me up somestimes... and I don't want to be awakened by notifications.  But when I am awake, I want the notifications.
    But it looks like with the new iOS5, you have to turn EACH one off individually... then turn them all back on individually.  PLEASE someone tell me I'm wrong, that I'm missing something somewhere.  That is a MAJOR HASSLE!!!!  There HAS to be a way to turn ALL notifications off and back on in ONE step... PLEASE!
    If not, HOW can we BEG Apple to FIX this horrible mistake?  Because if this feature is gone, that's a MASSIVE error on Apple's part!!  WHY they would remove that option is beyond stupid!  So I really hope someone can tell me I'm missing something... I've searched and checked all over, but I don't see any way to turn ALL off at once, then turn ALL back on at once.  I don't want to spend 10-15 mins each night turning each one off... then 10-15 mins turning each one back on one at a time.  Major pain!
    So PLEASE tell me how to do this... or PLEASE Apple fix this!!

    Yeah, it's even worse than I thought.  I first turned off the Notification center on each app... STILL got notifications.  So then I changed the alert style to "NONE" instead of alerts or banners.  And last night I STILL got notifications!!  OMG how difficult is it to turn these things off???  So now I ALSO turned off "Badge App Icon" figuring that MUST be it.  Haven't gotten any yet, so I guess that's it.
    But REALLY??  For EACH and EVERY app we have to do THREE STEPS???  Really SIX steps... 3 to turn off, and then 3 to turn back on!!  ARE YOU KIDDING APPLE??
    Whoever designed this part of the upgrade should be FIRED for being SO INSANELY STUPID!!!  Why take something that was so simple and EASY to use and now make it more work, more difficult and all around ANNOYING!!  This is the WORST thing about IOS5 so far for me... although with something this bad, I am sure there will be more bugs found!  Guess I should have waited to upgrade!  :-(  But I thought your beta team would have figured out all the kinks & bugs BEFORE release!  Guess not!
    PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP and give us back a ONE step ON/OFF for ALL notifications!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hp/Palms Service Center is a joke!

    Here's a little story about my bad experiences with HP/Palm.
    I have not been able to use my HP TouchPad since January.
    I have to say I've sent my HP Touchpad in for Repair over 6 or 7 times.
    The first time I ever sent in my Touchpad was only to fix the Vibration Motor which no longer worked. Ever since then, they have been returning my TouchPad back with new problems.
    The Volume Button was very loose and sunk into the tablet (not sticking out) Would have to press hard to make it work and when you shake that tablet a little bit. The Volume buttons would be hitting against the tablet, making a rattling noise.
    I probaly had to send in my tablet about 4 or 5 times because of that same issue that they never seem to be able to fix.
    Also I noticed that upper left corner of my screen would be slightly sticking out. HP/Palm's service center never fixed that problem either.
    The second last time I recieved my TouchPad back from the service center. There was noticable damage to the (Rubber Gasket) that sits between the Screen and the Outter Shell of the Tablet. and parts of the screen weren't locked in place and on the left side of the screen there was a glow when the screen was black, very noticable LCD Bleed. So once again like always I go back to request another repair. I send my unit back again for like the 7th time, and when I get it back, theres a paper in the box that says;
    We're Sorry that we couldn't get this back to you as good as new. The device that was returned to us is not repairable. This may mean that the device has suffered water damage or physical abuse, or it is otherwise damaged beyong a repairable state. It is now being returned to you in an unrepairbale state. You will be issued a refund if a repair fee was processed. Please contact Support if you have any question.
    This is BS. After my unit being through the repair facility more than 7 times, they now say it's unrepairable. After all the 7 times my unit has been "REPAIRED" they made it worse everytime. Now I have A unit with an LCD screen detaching on certain parts and not seated correctly, LCD had Bleeds on it with glowing spots when the screen is black, and the rubber gasket/edge is damage from them attempting to repair it. And now they claim I have done Physical Damage that they aren't willing to repair it anymore. They have done this damage and they blame me.
    Note that I have always been requesting to have the Unit replaced, not repaired because apparently these guys in Texas do not know what they are doing. All they do is either recieve it, clean the screen with a rag, pack it back up and send it back or they do something that makes it worse than it was before. They never are willing to replace it.
    I hope someone in the admin team can see this and help me solve this issue once and for all and get a **bleep** working unit. 6 months without using my HP TouchPad. The Service center is a joke, I'm very fed up with Hp/PALM. Please Help.

    The two piece charger and cord is standard for most devices these days.  While you may feel it is a "stupid" idea, it may be due to the fact you don't understand the design - the micro USB cable serves double-duty.  It can charge the device, and be removed to connect to a computer!
    If you had problems with the charger/cord, why did you send the touchpad in?  There was a bad batch of cords shipped, and HP would have replaced it had you asked...
    Now I'm off to try and answer the rest of your posts.. BTW, HP touchpads sell for much more than $65 on ebay, but it's your money. You should see what it can do with Android on it! ;-)

  • Bleeding data

    Now, well into my first month as a Verizon customer, I have seen my data usage double in the first 2 weeks of service. I have a 1 GB plan and a new IPhone 5 and have used well over 2GB of data.
    This is compared to my AT&T IPhone 4 account where I never used my 2 GB of data in 2 years.
    I have been forced to shut off my cellular browsing and install a data compression application (Onavo) to conserve data.
    This is a learning experience I really didn`t need to experience.
    I`ve been in touch with Verizon without any resolution to this problem.
    What`s next?? I don`t know but I was wondering who else might have any solutions or maybe just rath to vent??

    Happened to me also. I was on a 2gb a month for my computer. It worked fine for about 4 months, then in November I used the computer for a few days and got a warning of over usage. From the 17th (my reset date to about the 21st I had already used my entire allotment. I only use my computer at work as we are not allowed to use company computers for personal finance or any non business use. I couldnt figure out what was going on. Called tech support and asked how my usage could go up so drastically as I had not changed my usage habits. After Thanksgiving holiday I used my computer at my desk while working and my account was registered another  2 gigs inone 4 hour session. Happened two more times. I finally called and cancelled my account. I will cancel my phone lines as soon as plan expires.
    First tech said Verizon was having a problem and it would be worked out. I asked for a confirm # & was told my phone call would be on record. One tech tried to tell me that since I had Yahoo running straight for 4 hours that I was down loading all the pop-up commercials. Beyond stupid. Next tech was so rude that I cancelled my account on the spot. He tried to tell me that there would be an early cancellation fee of 300$ or something dumb. I was not on a contract so they could not charge me that. All in all a very bad experience with Verizon. I will have to pay the 50 $ overage charge of have my credit report ruined. They hold all the markers. If I had Verizon stock I would sell that to.

  • Why Can't I Access Old Photos for Wallpaper Anymore?

    Because of the new switch in photo organization on ios8 I can't access photos that are on my phone to set wallpapers. The photos exist, just not in any photo album as only "Recently Added" appear. When I go into the Photos app I can access them via Photos (and all the dumb "collections" and "moments" subgroups) instead of Albums, but when setting Wallpaper via the Settings menu, you're only given options to choose photos on your phone that are in the newly created albums instead of having access to all that exist. This is beyond stupid. I'm not looking for community help as much as saying how stupid this is and that NOBODY had a problem with the good old Camera Roll. What stupid regressive designing.

    I'd imagine you're trying to zoom out on a photo. I think there's a problem with scaling if the dimensions of the photo are not fit to wallpaper size.
    The workaround is in the photo app itself, select the photo you wish to use. Resize it to what you want the wallpaper to look like. Take a screenshot (press the home button and sleep button at the same time).
    Set the screenshot as wallpaper. That should fit nicely.

    I ordered a MuVo V00 player - a refurb - and it is in great shape...but the **bleep** thing didn't come with the cd I need to set it up. Can anyone tell me what to do here? It's my first mp3 player and I am really disappointed.

    Hi,
    For this player you won't need a CD. The device will appear automatically as a removable disk in windows explorer when you plug it in. You can then just drag and drop MP3 music across to it.
    If you need to convert your audio cd's you can use Microsoft Windows Media Player. Windows media player comes with your operating system and there is a new version (v ) available free of the MS site.
    If this is your first player then on our site click the support menu option and then tutorials. You'll find some of the basic information there.

  • Cannot activate iPhone 3GS iOS6, it wants SIM

    I just upgraded my old iPhone 3GS to iOS6.
    Now it wants a valid SIM (which I do not have) in order to work.   I already did a restore, no success.
    It also wants to join wifi, otherwise it will not work, which I can do.  However, it will simply not go past the SIM stage.
    Must be related to iOS6. Is it some stupid thing Apple came up with?
    There were no such problems in iOS5.

    I do not have another working SIM (all my active phones have microsim).  I tried to insert the micro in a regular SIM frame but I do not have the right tool to carve it out.
    Anyway, this has naver been a problem. If it is an iOS6 "feature" than it is unfortunately beyond stupid.

  • Optical output doesn't work unless the HDMI is connected to a TV?

    I'm running ATV input an amp using the optical output.  When I stream music, nothing happens until I turn the TV on, and then the optical output then starts to work and music plays out over the optical output.
    Is this by design, or is this an issue thats being addressed?

    Winston believes he's serving some kind of useful purpose by arguing nonsense in threads on the 4.4.x audio issue, when all he's doing is diluting them and hindering people who are looking for solutions. I've pointed out to him multiple times that the documentation doesn't say anything about electrical extension cords, so by his "reasoning", you can't expect them to work, either. He's never acknowledged the silliness of that line of "thinking". The main thing he doesn't understand is that the documentation for the ATV is not a NASA specification or something, and it is not surprising it does not try to exhaustively describe everything relevant to its use in thousands of mind-numbing pages. Documentation is always supplemented by things like support documents (e.g. the Apple documents that mention fixing the audio output bug when the TV is off, and the use of DVI, his other nonsense issue I'm aware of) and user experience based on sensible expectations. I would have been surprised if Apple had documented the TV-less use of the ATV even in the specifications, because then they'd have to document that you still need a TV to set it up and make configuration changes as necessary, because it doesn't provide a browser interface. It's just easier to ignore the capability, because its availability is implicit in the design of any device that provides the digital audio port in addition to the HDMI port, and people who want to use the ATV without a TV can figure it out for themselves. It would be beyond stupid for it not to work, because that would mean you couldn't use the ATV for audio with a stereo system that lacks HDMI inputs, without always having a TV connected and turned on. The ATV is documented as an Airplay device for streaming iTunes audio from devices like the iPhone, iPod Touch, and PCs, and for that, there's no reason to have a TV connected and turned on. It's a common sense expectation that it should work with the TV off or without a TV. It goes without saying.
    FYI, Winston also believes that using the ATV with a DVI device can't be expected to work even when the DVI device supports HDCP and 720p, because the ATV manual doesn't mention DVI. He will assert this wrong thing every time someone asks about it, and he will reject refutation via Apple support documentation and the hdmi.org FAQ every time it's presented to him. He will imply that HDMI to HDMI is guaranteed because it's documented, ignoring the hundreds of messages written by people with HDMI problems. He seems to be incapable of understanding that the jack on the target device is irrelevant to how well the ATV and the device follow HDMI and HDCP standards, which is the factor which determines whether or not they work together. I must have explained this to him a dozen times over the last few months, and the audio issue, too, but nothing has ever penetrated.
    Anyway, I hope you've found this Winston documentation useful. It's a waste of time trying to talk with him on the audio and DVI subjects, and you can refer to my posts over the last few months for numerous examples of the futility.
