BI 7 WAD - Copy function - Add data instead of overwrite

Hi,
We use copy function to copy data from one version to another. We need to add data to the second version. But when we execute the copy function, data in the second version is overwritten. Can anybody help how to do this in planning modeler on BI 7 (or WAD). This can be done in BPS0 but we would like to do the same in RSPLAN.

    thanks for the reply. the requirement is about copying data from one version to other in the same consolidation area.
    There are 2 option I am looking at
    1. Loading from loading from data stream / Loading data into totals cube 
    2. Using data collection task - COPY..
    Here the question is about the volume of the data, I am sure Copy function would do better than the data loading /Load from data stream.

  • Preserving Current Owner file permissions using the copy function

    I've been trying to use ARD 3's Copy function to overwrite a single user's Home folder in a classroom environment made up of a few Macs.
    This is done with the aim of refreshing the Home folder every time a class is concluded.
    However, although the Copy function works and succeeds in overwriting the Home folder, when the client is logged in locally, all the applications suffer from permission issues.
    I've tried both the; Inherit from destination folder and; (ii) Preseve current owner, file permissions in the "Set item ownership to" option of the Copy window but neither appear to work.
    I've also attempted to mirror the target user's account by creating the same account on the admin machine to push the Home folder over but the permissions remain a mess later.
    Is there a way to get around this without having to implement lengthy UNIX commands?
    I know of the existence of remote management apps, e.g. Deep Freeze (http://www.faronics.com/html/DFMac.asp), but under a budget constraint, such options are undesirable at the moment.

    As to too small - what is too small?  The pixel dimensions of the exported JPEG will be identical to the original TIFF - the file size is smaller because JPEGs are compressed - which of course reduces file size - which of course is the reason that JPEG exists

    The people at the Apple store gave me a long, tedious workaround which is open Pages and bring in logo.  Export it as a PDF.  Open the PDF in Review and then "Save As" a jpg to the desktop and drag and drop into the imovie.  Even with this process, the text will sometimes shift.  When it works, it looks good, the logo comes up, then the second line fades in under it as part of the build and then the third line completes the graphic.  It would something this easy and straight forward would be easy.

    I did the work around for the titles/jpg's in this short video. 
    I'll try your fix on the next one.  I have 22 short 3-5 minute videos to produce
    and I'm on number 5.  This should save me a bunch of time.

    Thank goodness for on-line forums.
    I already tried fixing them individually as you suggested,
      by going the crop/fit route.  However, even then,
      the second in the series had always shifted. 
    The first and the third images lined up, but not number 2.. 
    So  I brought in all the images, (1, 2 and 3).  
    and then the 2nd image again and put it in the third position
    in the sequence on the time line. I deleted the "original" 2nd image.
    So I had 1, 3, then 2.  Then I dragged and dropped the correct number two
    into position two and it worked.  So what happens is that the
    client logo appears, then that stays put and the next line dissolves in
      and then the third dissolves in.  They are three separate titles, but they
    are aligned perfectly so that they build as I dissolve between them.
    I think the problem with the edit copy route would be that while
    I could edit/copy the logo, I couldn't position text through the
    iMovie text function exactly as it only gives you middle or bottom third etc.
      Each title with the product name is positioned individually depending on
    length and number of lines. By going through Pages, I can position the logo
    and the text exactly.  Also, some logos are horizontal, while others
    are square etc., so text positioning is crucial.Anyhow,
    I'll try the global approach for the next one and see how that works.

  • File copy/paste adds " - Copy" - how to change to " - Copy" + date/time?

    Is there any way I can change the default file copied name from having " - Copy" at the end to " - Copy" plus the date and time?
    Before editing files I always make a copy of the existing file so I have a backup. I do this by clicking on the file I want to change in the list of files then do Ctrl C and Ctrl V which creates a copy of the file at the end of the list of times, with "- Copy" at the end of the name in the format "index - Copy.php". Is there any way I can get Dreamweaver to add the date and time to the name which would save me from editing the name and adding the date and time every time. Its a pain having to do this but I don't know any other way to ensure I know the date and time the file was copied. I know that there is a Modified date and time but changing a template for instance changes that and besides the file could also be edited but having the name reflect the copy date/time allows me to have the Modified date/time as a double check. I would like to have the file name in the format "index - Copy20110216 1621.php", the date being the international format and the time slotted on the end of it. This then puts the files in date/time order in the list.

    There's no way of customising a copied file name using DW that I'm aware of.
    Either rename it manually in DW or use a 3rd party file copy utlity outside DW.
    Is there a reason for keeping a hard copy of the last copied date that the Last Modified date in the operating system does not record?

  • COPY function on a Multiprovider - - Not saving data

    Hi,
    Im facing a wierd problem.
    Im tryin to run the COPY function on a Multiprovider.
    I've selected 2 fields as 'To be Changed' : 0INFOPROV and 0VTYPE. and 1 KF (ZACCINS) to be copied.
    I tried to run the PF through a Planning Sequence in 'Execute with Trace  Mode'. The result of which is shown below for 1 block.
    Series  Data  ChangeInd  ValueType ZACCINS Infoprovider
    1      Before      Unchanged 10           2,000.00  ZHR_R10
    1      After         Unchanged 10           2,000.00 ZHR_R10
    2      After          New          20           2,000.00 ZHR_R20
    3      Reference Data           10           2,000.00 ZHR_R10 .
    So far so good.
    Now I clicked on Save Plan data. Now when I try to view the Contents of the Target Cube (ZHR_R20), it does not display any data.
    Just to cross check, I have created a query on the Multiprovider and tried to call the same PF through the Analyzer. On click of the button, the system displays the "NEW" rows that were generated. Now, on clicking 'SAVE AREA', the newly generated rows disappear!!
    Again to cross check, I have deleted old requests in RSA1 for ZHR_R20 and tried to execute the function again wherein a new request was generated. On changing the Request to Green(Status OK),the  Added Records and TRANSFERED RECORDS are shown as 5.( the number of records in Source cube which im trying to copy = 5 in ZHR_R10).
    Have also checked the Fact table of ZHR_R20  but could not find any entries in the table... Not sure where the problem could be !!

    InfoProvider: Staff Costs Actual; Value Type for Reporting: Actual - From Change
    InfoProvider: Staff Costs Plan; Value Type for Reporting: Plan - To Change .
    Can you pls explain why do you think the function was not executed properly.. Iam absolutely clueless with this behaviour ... I have been tryin many number of times but in vain. The behaviour is the same. Each time I execute the PF, the Transferred records and Added records count keep on increasing .. but with no contents in the cube... .

  • No reference data for copy function between two infoproviders

    Hello,
    I am trying to copy data from an actuals cube into a plan cube. Both cubes are assigned to the same multi provider.
    The planning function is defined as follows:
    Characteristics to be changed: InfoProvider (from: Actual; to: Plan)
    Condistions: none
    To keep it simple I am using a filter with no entries.
    When I am executing the copy function with a trace I find that the function reads the entries from the Plan Cube (which I expected) but it does not generate the entries that are available in the Actuals Cube in the plan cube (which I hoped it would do). It seems that the function cannot find any reference values in the Actuals cube.
    The structure of the two cubes is different. Could this be the reason that the copy function does not work?
    I will appreciate any hints.

    Hi,
    The structure of the cubes being different is not a problem. Anyway, the records get aggregated depending on the characteristics you have included in the aggregation level on which the copy function is created. Because you say not even one record is getting copied from the actuals cube I feel there is some basic problem. Check the below things (some might sound very basic but I am just noting them)
    1) Actual cube has data in an active request with green status
    2) You have identified the characteristics and key figures properly in the multiprov (on which the aggregation level is built) from both the cubes.
    3) In the copy function, you have selected the desired KFs to be copied.

  • Copy-function: Where to select data-target?

    First, I worked on a cube for consolidation and created several input ready queries.
    Second, I have buid-up a second cube for disribution planning. (Because there are lots of additional dimensions being used; such as country, region, products[...]).
    Now, I want to copy planned turnover in distribution cube to consolidation cube. In other threads I've read, that it would be possible to copy data from cube to cube.
    The problem is that I don't find any properties defining the data-target.
    So. what needs to be done to reach my goals? Do I have to buid-up a multiprovider as well?

    Hi Martin,
    copy function can only copy from a char value to another value. It can not copy between key figures.
    For this you need a fox formula.
    Copy functions in BI IP will always overwrite the values that were in the target before it is run.
    Fox functions usually will also overwrite the values that were there before the function is run. If you want to do it different, your fox code would have to include some checks and so on.
    if you do not change other characteristics, you take only the 0Info_prov into the fields to be changed and make a formula like:
    {keyfigtarget, infoprovtarget} = {keyfigsource, infoprovsource}.
    when including the function button into a web template you can choose:
    planning function simple - you will need a data provider type filter or query to fill info the selection binding
    planning function - you can choose you "filter" by naming each individual char that has to be restricted while running the function
    planning sequence - aggrlevel, filter and function are fixed in the sequence
    I usually prefer sequences (I trust them more than the selections for individual functions)

    Hello Basrai,
    The service entry sheet (SES) is always posted with teh PO price. No new price determination is carried out in the SES.
    That's why the field ESSR-LBLDT cannot be changed in ML81N.
    You can make use of the user exit EXIT_SAPLMLSR_010 to change this behaviour. See the function module documentation for more info.

    from sales quote.Where do i have to write it in VOFM?
    Is it in copying requirements or data transfer.
    Actually according to the business all the line items from the sales quote are copied
    into the maintainence quote and additional line items are added into maintainence quote
    and the line items copied from the source document are linked to the two newly added
    line items.
    Please advise.

    First of all you have to have a link between the sales documents. You can check it in Tcode: VTAA. if not, talk to your functional people. Try to make this equal to quote to order but instead make it quote to quote.
    You need to put break point in copy requirement as well as in data transfers and check for your requirement.
    Well, the code you want to put in will be the requirement
    I am not sure if you can add 2 line items runtime into quote. this has to go through different checks and i dont think it is possible.

  • Copy Function with Single selection of row

    I want to copy necessary Planning items in my Input ready query from period 1 to remaining periods based on variable entries.  To achieve this I have created a copy planning function to copy amount entered in period 1 (variable) to range of posting period variable entries (e.g. 2 -12 or 6-12).
    I have created structure for GL accounts and I want to copy from period 1 to 2 - 12 for one row at a time.
    I have created WAD template, I selected in behavior section of Analysis item, single with command option and assigned Planning sequence (consisting of copy function) as command.
    On execution of WAD, I select single row in my input ready query and instead of one row getting copied over to the range of posting period, all rows consisting of Planning Items with amount are getting copied over, which I am not expecting with single selection option.
    How can I have only one row getting copied over?
    Am I am missing something?

    Command: Execute a Planning Function -> In Data Binding -> Selection Binding -> Characteristic -> Planning Item -> Binding Type -> Item Characteristic -> Web Item Selection -> Item Binding -> Query (Analysis Item) -> Characteristic -> Planning item.
    For Variable I have defined nothing.
    Do you think my settings are correct?

    Hi.
    It is expected result if you use range in Calmonth.
    You have to map one-to-one if you want correct result.
    Just add 2 additional rows in copy function for Calmonth (in toal you should have 3 rows for Calmonth) and in each row map monthes accordingly (01.2006 to 01.2007 etc).

  • Copy function errors when defining a range of fiscalyear/periods in variabl

    Hey Gurus,
    I'm trying to execute the copy function using two variables to copy from one fiscal year/period to another fiscal year/period.
    Two variables were created 'XXXXXX' = 001/2006 to 006/2006
    and 'YYYYYY' = 001/2007 to 006/2007.
    So in trying to copy plan data from  'XXXXXX' to 'YYYYYY', these variables are then defined in the paramter group. I get an error message stating that the variables can only be defined with single values.
    This has forced us to enter each fiscal year/period one by one in the parameter group.
    Has anyone come across this before, and can recommend a way around it instead of defining each fiscal year/period individually in the parameter group.

    Hello Ehab,
    In your example, you were copying say 001/2006-007/2006 to 001/2007-007/2007.
    Using the above assumption, we observe that the periods are fixed but the years are not.
    We can therefore pass the from period as 001, to period as 007. From year as 2006 and to year as 2007.
    We are therefore passing only single values for each variable.
    In our foxcode, we can loop through each period and generate the new set of records for 2007.
