BI Landscape doubt

Dear friends and experts,
in my company , right now we are not following proper landscape.
for example..
In my BI system landscape i have a few doubts.. please clarify mefriends..
right now we have
Dev--> production
we are going to have
SANDBOX | DEV --> QUALITY --> PRODUCTION.
so here my basis consultant is going to make a copy of production system for QULAITY.
if he do like that , whether can i get all the objects and cubes , dso , and Reports ?
once QUALITY(copy of production system) system gets ready , as a BI consultant what will be work?
is there any other work will it includes for me?
if my client asks how many MANDAYS to complete this task how can i proceed further?
please help me in this regard
thanks
Anand

Hi Anand,
When you do a client copy from production to quality all your modeling objects along with underlying data gets copied in the target system i.e. you can call quality system as pre-production and the main use of it is to do the Integration Testing and UAT in any general projects.
As you will have enough data to test many scenarios and your developement will move to production with flawless delivery.
Now when they do a client copy, basis team will run a transaction called BDLS to change all the systems references from production source system to quality source system. Once this activity is completed, as BI consultant your work will be to check the consistency of modeling objects just by doing sanity check.
You can execute some reports to do the data validation by comparing reports with production. And the main activity is extract data from new quality source system and run process chain.
You might face some RFC or connectivity issues. But generally this kind of activities are done.
Regards,
Durgesh.

  • Doubts in System Landscape Directory

    Hello All,
I got some basic doubts in SLD.
Why do we need to store the information about the installed products and to be installed products in software catalog?
And, what is this techncal system?
After reading few help sites, what I understand is the following:
For example SAP is a product and  CRM etc are the software components. We create the technical system for this product like for client 100 we create a technical system and for client 200 we create another technical system. And we give some logical names, called business sytems, to these technical systems.
My second question is, why do we need to create all these information(the information in SLD)? Why cant we directly create messages types, message interfaces etc and configure them in Integration directory without using the information in SLD like business system?
In Integration Directory, we say that the sender is one Business System and receiver is another business system. These business system are created based on some technical systems. These technical systems are based on some software components and product. This product and the software component might be a installed or non installed product. Then how do we can get the connection between the sender and the business system? Can you please explain me the idea behind considering the sender and reciever as business systems.
Can anybody please clear the above doubts?
    Priya

    Hi Priya,
    <u><b>SLD:</b></u>
The System Landscape Directory of SAP NetWeaver (SLD) serves as a central information repository for your system landscape. A system landscape consists of a number of hardware and software components that depend on each other with regard to installation, software updates, and demands on interfaces.
    - so talking about the working of an SLD, here if any information is required for the integration server regarding the systems(logical or physical) and the software (installed products) it refers to the SLD.
    - to tell you about the other features it has....it captures the dimensions of the system landscape like solution dimension, transport dimension and technical dimension.
    - putting it in short XI IS A CLIENT OF SLD
Also go thru this link and understand more about SLD <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/31/f0ff69551e4f259fdad799a229363e/frameset.htm">System Landscape Directory</a>
    <u>
    <b>SOFTWARE CATALOG:</b></u>
The SLD contains a Software Catalog of all installable SAP products and software components. The Software Catalog includes information about support packages and dependencies between the products and software components. This information is the basis for the description of the system landscape.
Also go thru this link and understand more about Software Catalog <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/a2/2999ef97ea2b4790165f9ca5c05c41/content.htm">Software Catalog</a>
<u><b>TECHNICAL SYSTEM, BUSINESS SYSTEMS, SOFTWARE PRODUCTS:</b></u>
Technical system correlates the software to the physical host on which it is installed
Or in other words Technical systems are application systems that are installed in your system landscape.
    - they are actually the basis for defining the business systems.
    - we assign a technical system to a business system to help the SLD make the appropriate association.
    - the software products used by the business system are got from the technical system definition.
    - to note 1 technical system can have more than one business system assigned to it....and as told the SLD make the appropriate association between them.
Also go thru this link and understand more about each of it:

  • Recommendation for maintaining pricing in CRM when R/3 is also in landscape

    Hi,
in out context we have already SAP R/3 in the landscape, all the pricing in done in R/3. lot of custom pricing routines are also written in r/3.
now we in the process of implementing CRM and plan to do Quotations in CRM and replicate in SAP R/3 . what is the recommendation for such a scenario.
do we replicate all pricing conditions/procedures in CRM? do we need to re-do all procedures in IPC?
can we re-determine pricing in R/3 so that we can avoid such work in CRM? we are using configurable products in R/3.
please share your thoughts/best practices and any document will be of help.
    thanks
    RH

    Hi Swaroop,
The Assignment of Buisness Partner classification from CRM to R3 is purely based on Classification
    so your initial Entry
I chose B as classification & Z001 as an account group which is a copy of 0001. System takes it.
    was taken by the system
now when you tried to make another Entry by the same Classification
chose B again & this time Z002 acc gp (copy of 0002), and system does not allow?
it checks for the Existing Classification and so does not allow the same
Delete the Previous Entry and then Try Entering the New Entry
    The System shall Take it
    Hope it Answered your Queries...

  • Music videos in landscape mode ever coming back???

Dear Apple, I doubt you'll read this or do anything but I guess it's worth a try.  It used to be that when you played a music video via the musof app on your iphone, it would display the video in landscape mode. Now, extermely inituitively, turning your phone to the side shows a selection of your album covers. No one wants that. I seriously can not think of one person. Looking in your own forums you have questions in 2013 asking to bring this back but no response has been given. That's called arrogance. This is not some big technical ask. It would take you little to no time so what gives? You say you care about the customer experience but between this and the iTunes library syncing issues I am beginning to question that.

  • CHARM Landscape implications!!

    Hi,
i have setup CHARM and have D11(DEV) , D12(DEV2) , Q11(Q11)          M11(maint) , P11(PRD) satellite systems added in SMSY and generated RFC's and created Logical components.now i created a maintenece project and wanna add these logical components. But i am struck with few doubts
My STMS of Satellite system involve all the above 5 systems, but in Help.SAP.Com i read only one development should be there for one production in Charm landscape of a project.
1.so shud i only have one dev one quality and one prd systems and configure the stms???
2.but i need all the systems to be in the STMS ,is it compliant with CHARM
3.if i remove the D12 and M11 form STMS, how to transport the Changes to these system Bcos we need allthe systems shud be in Sync
    rgds,
    Rajesh

    Hi Rajesh,
For multiple quality and production system,in the transport route define these systems in parallel with the actual systems.Once a TP is imported to one quality system you can use a report  /TMWFLOW/SCMA_BTCH_SYNC_TEST to import the request to parallel test systems and for parallel prodcution system you can use the report TMWFLOW/SCMA_BTCH_SYNC_UC.
But for parallel development system,if you need to synchronize, that has to be done manually.
    Hope this is helpfull,
    Regards,
    Avinash.

  • Can I split a landscape page in half to print as two portrait pages?

Re-posting: I originally posted this in the wrong forum. Sorry.
    Adobe Reader 8.x
    Windows XP, SP2
Im a complete novice, having only ever read documents, as PDFs, and not created them.
I have a PDF catalogue, where each landscape page consists of two of the catalogues portrait-shaped pages side by side, and would like to be able to split these pages, vertically, into separate, single catalogue pages for printing. I dont wish to create a new PDF of this catalogue, simply print each of the catalogues pages individually.
    Can I do this?
    Thanks for any help.

You can play this game with Acrobat (though a bit of a pain), but as far as I know you can do nothing in Reader. Maybe the folks in the Reader forum would have an idea, but I doubt it.

  • T61 - Widescreen - My display has rotated 90 degress - How do I return this to normal landscape

    Hi,
I'm such a noob, please help
I don't know how or what I've done but my widescreen normal landscape view has somehow rotated itself (no doubt by me) 90 degtees left e.g. I now have to turn the laptop on its side to read the screen which is now in portrait view.
I thought it a simple change on display>settings. If it is I can't manage it
Thanks to anyone who can rescue me
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

My bet is you have Intel graphics and you have accidentally hit a <CTRL><ALT>Arrow hotkey combination.  If that's the case the fix is just a quick <CTRL><ALT>Up.  If that doesn't do you'll find a rotate display somewhere in the advanced display properties screens.

  • INTERFACE DETERMINATION AND RECEIVER DETERMINATION DOUBTS???

    Hi Team
I am having doubts regarding the Interafce Determination and the receiver determination. In pur landscape in our objects, some times i am seeing a Condition is being defined in the Interafce Determination  and sometimes  am seeing a Condition is being defined in the receiver determination . could you please let me know the differences between the above two.
    thanx in advance.

    Hi Nabhinav,
Condtions in receiver determination - These conditions are evaluated and executed to determine the receivers for this incoming message.
Condtions in Interface determination - These conditions are evaluated and ececuted to determine the Interface mapping to be called in order to map the source message to the target message.

  • SAP Three-System Landscape

    Hi All,
I have a very basic doubt - I have read umpteen times that the SAP recommendation is to use a 3-system landscape for performance reasons. One system for the developement, one for quality assurance and one for the production environment.
However, I want more clarity on what a 'system' is. Does it mean I purchase 3 mySAP ERP licenses for my implementation and then implement DEV, QAS and PRD in each of them? But would that not multiple my costs 3 times if I decide to move from legacy system to an SAP implementation?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Vidya.

    Srividya D. wrote:>
    > Yes, all clients in a single SAP software get affected if any client-independent customizing. So do you mean by having different hardware systems for the different logical systems (DEV, QAS, PRD) client-independent customizing in one client in one hardware system does not affect another client in another hardware system? But I don't quite understand this since the concept of a client is per SAP system and not hardware system.
Yes. exactly if the system are different then any config/changes will not going to affect another system until unless you move any transport. Client is a buisness unit to identify the Buisness data, It is system specific.
    > By an instance if you mean an SAP Application Server, though there are multiple application servers on multiple hardware systems, the underlying Repository (nothing but database) and client-independent data should still be common right? Or do you mean that if I implement 3 instances of the SAP ERP system over 3 hardware systems, each instance or application server then has its own client space which do not interfere with the clients in the other hardware system?
I mean to say you required 3 Hardware, for 3 Database, and 3 SAP instance, 1:1 concept. everything will be seperate and will not interfare with any other system.

  • Doubts in XI basics..help me with some practical examples

    hi friends,
I am new to SAP XI have some basic doubts. Answer my questions with some practical examples.
      1. what is meant by "Business System" and what is difference between client, customer,Business partner,3rd party
2.If a small company already using some systems like Oracle or peopleSoft,if it wants to use SAP products then what steps it has to follow.
    3. SAP system means a SERVER?
    4.SAPWebAs means a server software?
5.R/3 system comes under SAP system?
6.XI is also one of the SAP  module..how it relates to other modules.
7.In one organization which is using SAP modules, each module will be load in separate servers?
8.PO(purchase order) means just looks like one HTML file..customer will fill the form and give it.like this,Combination of many files like this is one SAP module. Is it right assumption..?if so,then what is speciality SAP?
I have an theoretical knowledge about IR and ID and SLD.what are general business transactions happens in any business ?(like who will send cotation,PO)  give some practical example for what actually happens in business?..who will do what?and what XI will do?

    Hi Murali,
    <u><b> 1.Business System</b></u>
Business systems are logical systems that function as senders or receivers  within the SAP Exchange Infrastructure(XI).
Before starting with any XI interface, the Business systems involved has to be configured in SLD(The SLD acts as the central information provider for all installed system components in your system landscape.)
business system and technical system in XI
    <u><b>2.Third Party</b></u>
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/09/6beb170d324216aaf1fe2feb8ed374/frameset.htm
eg.For the SAP system a  Bank would be a third-party which would be involved in interfaces involving exchange of data(Bill Payment by customer).
    <u><b>3.XI(Exchange Infrastructure)</b></u>
It enables you to connect systems from different vendors (non-SAP and SAP) in different versions and implemented in different programming languages (Java, ABAP, and so on) to each other.
Eg.If an interface involves Purchase Order sent from SAP system to the vendor(Non-SAP system)then, the vendor might expect a file. But the Data is in the IDOC(intermediate document) form with the SAP system. Here XI does the work of mapping the IDOC fields and the File fields and sends it to the vendor in the form of a file.
In short, always the scene is Sender-XI-Receiver.
The Sender and the Receiver depends upon the Business you are dealing with.
    <u><b>4.Business Partner</b></u>
A person, organization, group of persons, or group of organizations in which a company has a business interest.
This can also be a person, organization or group within this company.
    Examples:
    Mrs. Lisa Miller
    Maier Electricals Inc.
Purchasing department of Maier Electricals Inc.

  • Change Request Flow In a Three System Landscape --- PLZ DO REPLY

    Hi Experts,
    I am new to SAP and have this doubt;
Suppose we have a three system landscape with DEV, QTY and PRD systems in it.
Say we create a new change request in DEV system. So to transport it to QTY we will release that request from DEV using T code se01 .
Now the request will come in QTY systems queue and we will login to the appropriate QTY client and import this request into the QTY system.
<b>No my basic doubt is, after the testing in QTY how do we move this request to PRD system ?</b>
Do we again release this request from QTY system using se01 or we need to go at the OS level in the QTY system and manually add this change request in the PRD system buffer ? ( Please send if any reference link is there)
I will really appreciate any info in this regard.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Mandeep

    Hai Mandeep,
        First Thing,
-->If you are maintaining a common transport directory, the released change
request will be exported in that common transport directory..
--->Now you just enter in to the server(which is Transport Domain
            Controller).
--->In that go to Import Overview, now your QA server has one import req.
you just click the req. and import that req..
    >Now if you want to import the same req int o PRD.,Enter in to PRD
server.Go to tcode STMS_IMPORT, In the top go to
Extras>Other req.>add..click this and add that particular
req.that you want to import in to PRD server..
--->select that req and import that req...

  • SAP Landscape for ECC,EP,BW,XI, DMS and TREX

    Hi all,
I am in the role of SAP Basis Consultant for an IT organisation. One of their client require to install SAP ECC ( FI-CO,MM,PS,HR,REM,PM), EP, BW, XI, DMS and TREX. Their plan is to use ECC 6.0 ( Netweaver 7.0 SR2) with EP 7.0 and all others are latest version. The Dev setup in WIndows-Oracle and production will be AIX-Oralce. In the Dev setup, install all the components in separate servers and in production it is to be combined as follows ERP+ SRM(later) in one server, EPXI in another server, BW in one server and DMSTREX in last one.
Here my doubt is, this installation plan will have any issue?.
Second, the data export from DEV ( windowsoracle) Production ( unix-AIXoracle) will have any issue?
Please reply with details. As the project is in the planning phase.
    regards,
    Siby Syriac.P

    Hi Siby,
If your client need such a broad installation (SAP ECC ( FI-CO,MM,PS,HR,REM,PM), EP, BW, XI, DMS and TREX), I'm sure that they hired a Senior Project Manager together with a team of senior consultants in each of the areas to look after the implementation. Also i presume they have look into hardware requirements to ensure the landscape will deliver the adecuate performance to the target amount of concurrent users.
As far as i can see from the 10 lines you wrote, I can't see a QA environment been considered... which I think is a mistake (thats only my own opinion). I can't see any issues having DEV runnning Windows and PRD running AIX (As long that youre confortable working in both environments). About the installation plan is very difficult to tell by your 10 lines but I'll try avoid having two big systems in the same box as ECC and SRM.
    Thats my 2 cents
    Regards
    Juan

  • Doubt in System creation

Hi I got a doubt on creating the system in process of implementing the ESS for ECC 6.0 .
In setting the system landscape the doc described the following two lines.
      a.      Set up a system on the Portal J2EE server on which the business package is installed. Assign the alias SAP_WebDynpro_XSS to this system.
Is it mentioning to create system alias FOR  the Portal J2EE server or ON the Portal J2EE server?
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi.
I suggest reading [Configuring the Business Package for Employee Self-Service (ESS) u2013 mySAP ERP 2004|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/21eb036a-0a01-0010-25a3-b2224432640a]. Of course it's about previous versions both of Portal and ESS, however it still can be helpful how to guide.

  • Adding one more ECC to Duet Enterprise landscape

    Hi Experts,
i have a Duet Enterprise landscape configured where i have one SCL system and one ECC system. As of now, Reporting and Workflow scenarios are configured on the ECC system.
Now i would like to add another ECC (say ECC_2) system into the landscape where i can work with Starter Services.
Please clarify following doubts regarding the same.
    1. Can i add this ECC_2 using installation wizard using just "Connect to SAP system" step or do i need to run all the steps in the installation wizard?
    2. While running this step, do i need to specify 1 in the textbox or 2 (which indicates number of SAP systems). If i specify 1 and go ahead with the ECC_2 details, will it over-write the configurations done earlier for ECC ??
    3. Is it possible to change the source system for "Reporting" / "Workflow" after the installation ? (i mean later as per my preference)
    ~ Ramanath.

    Hi,
yes, adding a second system is no problem. That is actually one of the great "features" of Duet Enterprise: you can easily connect multiple system and expose (even aggregated) data to SharePoint.
    1. Can i add this ECC_2 using installation wizard using just "Connect to SAP system" step or do i need to run all the steps in the installation wizard?
Yes, you can do that. Just de-select all but the "Connect to SAP System". When executing this step, the required RFC destinations (both on the SCL and the backend system) will be created, as well as required trusts will be established (e.g. exchange PSE certificates for Web Service Trust / SAP Logon Ticket and Trusted System connections for RFC based communication)
    2. While running this step, do i need to specify 1 in the textbox or 2 (which indicates number of SAP systems). If i specify 1 and go ahead with the ECC_2 details, will it over-write the configurations done earlier for ECC ??
Leave the 1 in the textbox. This is just a number of how many system you want to connect.
    3. Is it possible to change the source system for "Reporting" / "Workflow" after the installation ? (i mean later as per my preference)
Yes, that is also possible. If you take a look at the IMG (SIMGH -> Service Consumption Layer Administration -> General Settings -> Manage Business Object Groups) that's where the "applications" are stored. These Business Object Groups represent the different applications that you see and use in SharePoint. So for example you see the Business Object Group "SPI_WORKFLOW" (if you used the default BC set configuration) which contains the Business Object "IW_WF_TASK".
Now if you take a look at the "Assign SAP System Aliases" (just select "SPI_WORKFLOW" and double click on "Assign SAP System Aliases") you can see to which server this Business Object Group / scenario is assigned. If the "User Role" is empty this means that all users on the SCL are assigned to this system. Via this table you could assign different roles to different backend system.
This "System Alias" is -- as the name says -- just an alias for the real RFC destination that points to your backend system. If you want to see what backend system this is, you have to go to SIMGH -> Service Consumption Layer Administration -> Connection Settings -> SCL to SAP System -> Manage SAP System Aliases  here you can see which System Alias points to which RFC destination.
So in your case -- if you want to switch the backend systems -- you can either change the RFC destination that is assigned to a system alias here, or you create a new system alias (with the RFC destination that points to your new backend system) and assign this System alias to the Business Object Group.
I know it might sound confusing the first time you do it, but it all makes sense and is pretty logic if you get used to it.
    Regards,
    Holger.
