BI Server performance too slow
Hi experts,
I am facing an issue, my OBIEE sits on a Unix Platform. And many time the server performance is too slow, when I check the processes, Java under Orabi user is using more than 50% of the CPU utilization. I need to find the root cause behind it, as it is the production system and is affecting many users.
Thanks in advance.
MT
Thanks Prassu,
Yes the Server is performing too much calculations, but they are required as need to cache reports at daily level also,
I have an observation that the MAX_CACHE_ENTRY_SIZE [MAX_CACHE_ENTRY_SIZE = 1 MB;] parameter is set only for 1 MB, I can understand that if any query fetching more data than 1 MB will not be cached. But is there any chance that this will affect the server as well.
Thanks

Mail server is too slow to deliver the mail to internal domain
Hi,
My mail server faster enough to send the mails to other domains, but when i try to send mail to my own domain it too slow some time it take 30 t0 40 minutes to deliver the mail.
Please help
Thanks,
Gulab PashaYou should use statspack to check what are the main waits.
Some indicators to check :
- too many fts/excessive IO => check sql statements (missing index, wrong where clause)
- explain plan for most important queries : using cbo or rbo ? If cbo, statistics should be up to date. If rbo, check acces path.
-excessive logfile switch (> 5 per hour) : increase logfile or disable logging
- undo waits => not enough rollback segments (if you don't set AUM)
- data waits => alter initrans, pctfree, pctused
- too many chaining rows => rebuild set of datas or rebuild table
- too many levels in indexes => rebuild index
- excessive parsing : use bind variable or alter parameter cursor_sharing
- too many sort on disks => increase sort_area_size and create others temporary tablespace on separate disks
- too many blocks reads for a row => db_block_size too few or too many chaining rows
- too many lru contention => increase latches
- OS swapping/paging ?
Too improve performance :
- alter and tune some parameters : optimizer_mode, sort_area_size, shared_pool_size, optimizer_index_cost_adj, db_file_multiblock_read_count...
- keep most useful packages in memory
- gather regularly statistics (if using cbo)
How do your users access to the db ?

Performance too Slow on SQL Azure box
Hi,
Performance is too slow on SQL Azure box:
Below query returns 500,000 rows in 18 Min. on SQL Azure box (connected via SSMS)
SELECT * FROM TABLE_1
Whereas, on local server it returns 500,000 rows in (30 sec.)
SQL Azure configuration:
Service Tier/Performance Level : Premium/P1
DTU : 100
MAX DB Size : 500GB
Max Worker Threads : 200
Max Sessions : 2400
Benchmark Transaction Rate : 105 transactions per second
Predictability : Best
Thanks,Hello,

MDM with Lion Server is too Slow
Managing 500 iPads with an iMac Mini Server is a very time Consulting Job, because MDM is too Slow. The reason seems to be postgres database. Any Suggestionen?
There really isn't enough information here to solve your problem.
Fair enough, we get it's slow... but when you say "click the Finder icon it spends 10-20 seconds to open", are you talking about on the server itself? or over the network?
In addition, what do the server logs have to say?
What about activity monitor? What processes are busy? What about memory utilization?
There are all kinds of things that can contribute. Far too many to be able to pinpoint from the (lack of) information available.
All I can say is that reformatting/reinstalling is not likely to be your best option. -
I have oracle 9i database on sun solaris OS
IBM server.
2GB RAM
4 hard disk
45 users are login in to the system.
Its almost dead slow and some time user get out from the system. It is almost in hold sitution.
When ever we restart the server all the process clear and works properly. After some time its started slow and performance got detoriate.
gradualy its gets slow by the time and one point time it is dead slow and takes 30 min to commit transaction.which takes 20 sec at normal time. When i restart server it works normaly but gradually it gets slow again.
please write some procedure to checkup

Development server performance is slow [ Review the error and help me,]
Runtime Errors CONNE_IMPORT_WRONG_COMP_TYPE
Exception CX_SY_IMPORT_MISMATCH_ERROR
Date and Time 24.12.2007 07:02:58
Short text
Error when attempting to IMPORT object "HIST2".
What happened?
Error in the ABAP Application Program
The current ABAP program "RSORAT4M" had to be terminated because it has
come across a statement that unfortunately cannot be executed.
What can you do?
Note down which actions and inputs caused the error.
To process the problem further, contact you SAP system
administrator.
Using Transaction ST22 for ABAP Dump Analysis, you can look
at and manage termination messages, and you can also
keep them for a long time.
Error analysis
An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_IMPORT_MISMATCH_ERROR', was
not caught in
procedure "AKT_DAY_HIST2" "(FORM)", nor was it propagated by a RAISING clause.
Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
The reason for the exception is:
When importing the object "HIST2", the component no. 8 in the
dataset has a different type from the corresponding component
of the target object in the program "RSORAT4M".
The data type is "I" in the dataset, but "P" in the program.
How to correct the error
Try to find out why the type of the object should be different.
There are various possible options:
1. The type of the imported field has changed in the Data Dictionary.
Make sure that the type of the imported field matches the type
of the field in the Data Dictionary.
If the data cannot be restored from another source, the data must be
read by the 'old' structure, converted und again eported with the new
structure, so that future IMPORTs will always function with the new
structure.
2. A new program version is active, which no longer fits the dataset.
Try to solve the error generating the program "RSORAT4M" again. This
works as follows: Select transaction SE38 in the SAP system. Enter
the program name "RSORAT4M". Then activate the function 'Generate'.
If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to
find an interim solution in an SAP Note.
If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following
keywords:
"CONNE_IMPORT_WRONG_COMP_TYPE" "CX_SY_IMPORT_MISMATCH_ERROR"
"RSORAT4M" or "RSORAT4M"
"AKT_DAY_HIST2"
If you cannot solve the problem yourself and want to send an error
notification to SAP, include the following information:
1. The description of the current problem (short dump)
To save the description, choose "System->List->Save->Local File
(Unconverted)".
2. Corresponding system log
Display the system log by calling transaction SM21.
Restrict the time interval to 10 minutes before and five minutes
after the short dump. Then choose "System->List->Save->Local File
(Unconverted)".
3. If the problem occurs in a problem of your own or a modified SAP
program: The source code of the program
In the editor, choose "Utilities->More
Utilities->Upload/Download->Download".
4. Details about the conditions under which the error occurred or which
actions and input led to the error.
The exception must either be prevented, caught within proedure
"AKT_DAY_HIST2" "(FORM)", or its possible occurrence must be declared in the
RAISING clause of the procedure.
To prevent the exception, note the following:

166Hi,
Please apply the following correction manually.
1. Go to transaction ST03N
2. Change user from 'Administrator' to 'Expert Mode'.
3. Go to Collector and performance analysis -> Performance database
-> Monitoring database -> Contents
4. Search where further info contains the string "h/2"
like the following monikeys:
- 'days h/2'
- 'weeks h/2'
- 'months h/2'
5. Double click on each, so that they become red and show ** delete
6. Finally SAVE
This will remove the corresponding database related history up to the deletion date. It will accumulate anew afterwards.
How can I identify the monikey that has to be deleted?
When you load the text of the dump and then jump off to the break point of the debugger you may find the error break point look like:
"IMPORT HIST2 FROM DATABASE MONI(DB) ID MONIKEY".
To find the right monikey entry causing the dump you can search for the word 'MONIKEY' within the text of the dump. This can be 'days h/3' or
'tabgrowth 2'...
You can then go back to the procedure above and search where further info contains the monikey that you found in the text of the dump.

Slow start up since wire got removed accidentally...imac perform too slow
hi am sajith ...i am facing a slow in start up n using my mac from the time since, the wire got unplug accidentally ...it ws very fast before ..please help me out?
Open Disk Utility (in the Utilities folder of the Application folder). Select your startup volume from the list on the left side & click the "Verify Disk" button. If it finds any problems follow the instructions to restart your computer from another volume (varies by the OS version you are using) & repair the drive.
If & when any errors are fixed, run the Permissions repair.
Note: If you fill in the model & OS version info in your user profile, that will help us provide more detailed advice. -
Connection to Server is too slow!
Ok, I have a bit of a problem here. I have a server set up with 4 users connected. It takes forever to even load all the folder icons when you connect to the server and open the window. I looked at the AFP information pane in the Server Admin program and it reads that we are getting less than 1MB/Sec. Is there another way for us to connect directly to the server so we can get better speeds or is something not set up correctly?
For what it's worth, I seem to be having the same problem. I don't have any detailed troubleshooting info to relay yet (forgot to enable error logging, ooops). I've just brought a 10.5.1 AFP only file server (XServe quad Xeon via Gigabit) online this morning for 20-30 users following a week of testing with a limited user base (3-5). The server is hosting 12 share points from four SCSI RAID arrays via Apple's SCSI card. CPU usage is at about 10%, spiking at 40-50% on occasion. Throughput has averaged around 12MB/s. Didn't have any issues while I was in testing (save the Kerberos ticket expiration problem, which I fixed by disabling Kerberos login).
For what it's worth the 10.4.10 Server (G4, 1.4GHz) sharing the same volumes never had a hiccup like this. -
Hi all,
I have 3 dimensions: TIMES, PRODUCTS, STORES
The hierarchy of TIMES, is in the order: year, quarter, month, week, day
The hierarchy of Products is in the order: sector, family, sub-family, product
The hierarchy of STORES is in the order: area, department, store
each hierarchy is mapped with a data set and the size is
730 lines (days) for the TIMES dimension
282 lines (products) for the PRODUCTS dimension
237 lines (stores) for the STORES dimension
With these dimensions, I create a cube and 2 measures: QUANTITY, BENEFIT
My measures used all 3 dimensions : TIMES, PRODUCTS, STORES.
I mapped in the end my cube with a dataset contains: store, day, product, quantity, benefit
This data set has 3921 lines.
I chosed the rule to aggregate all dimensions is SUM.
So when I do "maintain cube...", AWM takes much time to do it! (approximately 2h to maintain my cube)
Some one knows why it's long?
How can I do to accelerate it?
Due I modify the parameters in AWM or in my cube?
Thanks in advance!thanks all for your reply!
I done maintain cube already in following your advice. I increased the rollback and tmp space and changed "NUMBER to DECIMAL" as type of data of cube.
But I have other question. I hope you can help me!
1. What's the effect of the option "Choose the regions of the cube to be presummarized and stored in the analytic workspace" in the table "Summarize To" when you create a cube? If I check this option for all hierarchy level, the next time, when I do the request,
the time of calcul will be optimize so fastest?
(I check this option in creating my cube but when I make a request for level of a particular hierarchy, it's so long to have the result. I use a software this can connect and do request from Oracle Olap DataBase.)
2. I done maintain cube last week. Today I created a new cube and added more data set. But I cant maintain cube again. This is the message error. Can you explain to me why?
( I increase already the rollback and tmp space. To know how and what I done, view this thread please!

Database is performing to slow
Hi all,
I have oracle 8i database with only 5GB data. My database is performing too slow. Cal any one tell me step by step which poction and where i have to look for increse the performance. Plz provide me some steps which i should follow.
Thanks & RegardsMy database is performing too slowA very generic statement which is actually misleading.
There could be a particular application/module which is performing slow, in turn slowing down the whole system. There could be some SQL that some user has fired, taking up all resources on database server (f.ex. cartesian join on seven tables as the developer thought that was a simple SQL before he could submit a more "complex" SQL).
If you dont know where to start then you need to setup statspack in first place and get the snaps running at say 15 minutes interval. Then analyze the statspack reports to get a better picture of the database performance.
If you know that after plugging in a particular module, your database is going down in terms of performance, then you can take it out, review the same, trace it, debug it and fix it.
At the end I would go in for reviewing the instance parameters and tune them. If even after tuning the instance parameters, you are facing the performance problem, then I would review the hardware.
That, in short, would be my plan of action.

Hi All,
Our BW server is too slow after the refresh of the testing server.I will explain the problem in detail below.
here are the activities we undertook after basis handed the system back to us post refresh. I can't comment on any of the activites they(basis team) did as part of their process.
1. De-scheduled all the process chains in BT1
2. Checked the monitor (RSPCM) to see if any process chains had kicked off (at this point I was worried live source-system deltas were being extracted)
3. The system showed 4-6 process chains that had kicked off.
4. Quickly consulted with Basis - I was worried that the live source systems (RS1 and FS1) 'saw' the now refreshed BT1 system as 'BS1' (the live BW system)
5. Agreed that the best step would to remove RS1 and FS1 as source systems to BT1. Going forward, we wouldn't want them connected anyway.
6. I deleted both RS1 and FS1 as source systems to BT1 in the admin workbench (RSA1)
7. This left the 'started' process chains in a yellow status and unfortunately removed the partner profile information from both FS1 and RS1 and no data loads were possible
8. Basis corrected this error by 'Restoring' the source systems in RSA1
9. Loads now possible from both source systems
Our current problem is:
RSPCM hangs (left for over 4 hours) when run for 'Today'
Support are unable to reschedule the 'hung' process chains - I believe this is caused by the fact that they cannot turn the process chains red from RSMO - the system just hangs.
We believe the problem is isolated to loads from FS1.We have two source systems.FS1 and RS1.The loads from RS1 is Now the server is too slow and we are unable to turn the amber loads to red. When trying to do so the system hangs.Pls help us on this.
Regards,
SupriyaHi,
When I give date range in rsmo as 11.12.2007 to 19.12.2007,I can see lots of data loads are in yellow status. When I try to turn the amber loads to red the system hangs. These loads are from FS1(R/3 production). So I have checked in R/3 sm37 and I couldn't find any job which has started on 11th and still running. What could be the problem? How to turn these amber loads to red?Without doing this I cannot start any new deltas. Now the performance of the system is ok.Only problem we are facing is unable to reschedule 3 process chains and unable to kill the jobs which are running for a long time.I think by killling these jobs will help us to reschedule the process chains.Pls help us on this issue.
Thanks in advance

Select Data from aufm too slow
Hi experts,
I have a query in my report but its performance too slow.
is there any proper way or any way to improve the performance of below query.
SELECT * FROM aufm into table i_aufm " collecting input material document numbers
WHERE mblnr GE '4900000000'
AND mjahr GE '2008'
AND zeile GT '0'
AND matnr EQ matnr_101-matnr
AND werks IN p_werks
AND charg EQ matnr_101-charg
AND bwart = '101'.Hi,
1 .Dont use * from any table.
2. Create a internal table that u want to retrieve the data from that table. (Structure).
Eg:
types : begin of str_ekko,
ebeln type ekko-ebeln,
bsart type ekko-bsart,
aedat type ekko-aedat,
endof str_ekko.
data : itab type table of str_ekko,
wa_itab type str_ekko.
In the above u want to take care that while creating the structure u want to look the sequence of fields in the table. in the same sequence u want to create the structure.
3 . The Select-options fields also wants be in the same field sequence of the table.
eg : select ebeln bsart aedat from ekko into table itab where ebeln in so_ebeln and
bsart in so_bsart and
aedat in so_aedat.
4. If the above things are not working just look the indexes of that table. Just create a secondary index with ur requirement. -

My pages hosted by an CMS (content managment server), open too slow when passing trought the ace. Any ideas?
Regard's,
Miguel Amaral2 GB is the minimum memory configuration to run Yosemite at all. Given that limitation you will constantly need to be mindful of the programs you're running.
ESET will only place additional demands on that Mac's limited system resources. Uninstall it. It is capable of nothing beneficial and your Mac cannot operate properly with it installed.
Back up your Mac prior to making any changes to its file system. To learn how to use Time Machine read Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac - Apple Support.
ESET offers no obvious way to uninstall it. To do that you must use the "Eset Cyber Security Pro Setup Wizard" included with its installation package.
Use the Uninstall icon:
Disregard the blatantly fraudulent "Warning!" that appears:
Lie about the reason in the following step, which cannot be bypassed. ESET's developer is disingenuous and expects the same of its users:
ESET's uninstaller leaves components behind but it is sufficiently effective to render this piece of trash inert. -
The servers gets too slow with JMS Messages
Hi all,
Look, Im usin JMS services, with MDB, and work good. Also i kepp a Queue to wronly messages (basiclly for comunications between R3 and Portal). Thats messages have seted a "Time to Live" equals to one day, so, they dissapair when this time are completed. But for some reasson, my server gets too slow and show exeptions of Time Out. Maybe the messages are not "killed" really, and consume memory from the server or some like that.
The think are, that im deleting manually the Queue from the Visual Administration, later than this, the process back to keep the execution time and gets faster.
If some know some or had this same trouble, please help me...
Thanks in advance,
Jorge.I see. Thanks for your advice
I always had this setting on my previous devices (Sony Xperia X10 pro, Samsung Galaxy Slll) and thought it wouldn't do anything. It just got slow when it actually was updating.
Now I turned that setting off, the wifi worked quite long again (10min) but then it was gone. Unfortunately.
