2 Instances in Configtool and offlinecfgeditor after System Copy ABAP+Java
Hello,
I've done a system copy ABAP+JAVA of a XI3.0 (WAS 6.40) and after the system copy I've my system up & running.
The problem is:
After I have finished the System Copy (Export and Import) of the ABAP and Java part I'm doing the pre-steps for the Upgrade to PI 7.1.
Ok, following the note 1061649 on the point "Checking the Consistency Between Primary Application Server Instance ID and Box Number" when I check this point I'm in trouble because my Java ID (the same Java ID of the source system of the system copy) isn't the JAVA ID that the checks waits for my destination server.
The result of the check is:
java -cp instanceidcheck.jar com.sap.sdt.check.InstanceIdChecker ID84971 21 XIDDVEBMGS21sapxid
The calculated instance ID is ID2190439
WARNING!!! The source system ID that you provided (ID84971) is different than the one calculated (ID2190439)
You will have problems installing the shadow system and running the migration.
Then, I go to see in configtool my InstanceID and I see that I have 2 InstanceID's....the instanceID ID2190439 that is empty (no dispatcher and no server0) and the instanceID ID84971 that has dispatcher, server0 and is the instance which is starting when I type "startsap sapxid".
Can you tell me why is happening that ??

PI 7.1 system copy (abap+java)
Hello,
We need homogenous copy of PI 7.1 system to an existing system (newly installed PI 7.1). I would like to use database specific option (oracle).I was studying SAP guide for System copy of PI 7.1 and there are slight diff comparing to NW 7.0 double stacks.
Comparing to NW 7.0 double stacks I can't see here step for exporting central instance where application specific filesystem and SDM filesystem was archived (I know SDM is not present in 7.1 anymore). In addition I can see in guide for 7.1 new option for database refresh. However this section also does not describes any needs for taking special care of java filesystem content.Does it mean that I do not need to take special care for java filesytem content anymore on 7.1?
I am bit wondering if it is sufficient for 7.1 just to refresh DB (with restore method for oracle for example) and then perform just adaptation of java IDs in profiles as described in section for database refresh of system copy guide PI 7.1? Will be this way system consistent (consistent abap part and consistent java part)? On NW 7.0 after restore of DB only, java part would be not consistent, is this new in 7.1?
Thanks for your feedback in advanceHello -
Since you need the complete ABAP and JAVA databases, you will want to use the system copy tool on the installation CD. If you are using a Micrsoft SQL system, you will be able to save yourself some steps. Here is what we did for our MSSQL refresh:
Use sapinst to do a file system export on the source system.
Take back up of source system and use sapinst to restore it to target system.
Process
1. Detach the database files from the source system database or create a backup and copy the files
to the target system.
2. Attach the database files or restore the backup of the source database on the target database server.
3. Run SAPinst to install the target system by choosing the following on the Welcome screen:
<Your SAP system> Software Life-Cycle Options System Copy Target System <system variant>
<technical stack> .
Let me know if you have more questions or if you need more information. I can try and answer a few if you are trying to use ORACLE and UNIX / LINUX. Thanks! - Will S. -

Has anyone come accross thisHow did you do the system copy? Did you "export" the Java part prior to the copy?

Question concerning homogenous system copy abap+java
Hi,
I have the following question: we are running a SAP ERP2005 und Linux/Oracle.
We need a restore of the productive system form an early date, due to problem analysis. Because this system copy was not planed we didn't do the java SDM dump (as described in the manual). We do have a backup of database and the library files. Is it possible to use this files for the system copy and do some postactivities to get a consistent abap+java system?
Regards
Ulrike TubbesingHi,
You need to have the SDM folder backup and if to be more specific you need abckup of the sdmrepository.sdc file so the J2EE engine can function properly.

System Copy abap+java PRD to DEV
Hi,
we want to do a Systemcopy from our productiv system to develop (abap+java / Maxdb / NW 7.0).
Normaly this is my way.
-Backup Maxdb
-Export Java with sapinst
-deinstall DEV system
-install DEV system by choose the last Backup an the Java export
This works fine !
So is it possible to do this a little bit faster.
For example only restore the last Backup from productiv system
to develop an recreate/reinstall the Java by another way ?
Thanks
StevenHi,
You should not choose other way because that will not be supported. Since for Java most of things lies in the file system, so, you have to export As Java to do the system copy.
Thanks

System copy : As Java : Non-unicode kernel Option not available
Dear All,
we are performing AS Java system copy to create a new system , same SID , same HOST and same Configuration except OS is upgraded.
Susle Linux OS - 11 SP3
As Java Nw 701
kernel version -
NW701 - Kernel 721_Ext - Non_unicode - 201 patch level
We have successfully completed export and now we are importing the same export in new server, now while performing taget installation we are not getting option to install NON UNICODE kernel , except it is only asking for UC Kernel 7.20/7.21.
Current version of system is non-unicode and we will like to keep it that way.
May I know is non-unicode system copy option is not available? is it removed ?
and if we want to install non-unicode then how we can perform that ?
Can we install target system using UC kernel and later just perform NON-unicode kernel upgrade, will this work?
Has anyone faced such concern?
Guidance will be appreciated.
Regards,
BondThanks for update RB.
We have tried this method as in we stop SAP and sync file systems and perform DB/Backup restore method. This method works but unfortunately I am not able to find any SAP relevant document to support this method for so called "java" systems.
SAP only suggest to perform system copy for "java" hence we are trying via export import. Currently I am looking into options of using old master installation software.
although, can i request you if you any SAP relevant note or kba or any other in which SAP support/suggest we can perform file system copy and db restore for "Java" systems then it will be just a thing which I need to go ahead with method you suggested.
Thanks , kindly update.

System Refresh: Abap+Java stack
Have a few questions about CRM refresh I'm working on. Done many refreshes over the years and the new process has me shaking my head in disbelief.
Performed a normal system refresh, by restoring online backup of production system onto mirror system. The mirror system exactly matches my production sytem (Oracle 10g, SuSE Linux 64 bit, UNICODE).
Now my system is running from Abap stack perspective, however Java components fail to load.
Now from reading the documentation (System Copy for SAP, Based on SAP Netweaver 2004s Abap+Java) it appears that I have to use sapinst and no longer use online database backups for system refreshes.
Is this the case? Has the investment my organization made into online backups now worthless?
Is there a way to take the java schema in this online copied database and bring it online after converting it to work on the mirror landscape?
Or should I throw out our system methodology and start newThank you for the reply.
Reading SAP's documentation seems to imply that I need to extract out the java schema from my production source and then re-install on my QA target to make a refresh of the java stack possible.
However, if I have a complete copy of my source system database working on the target, why is the extract necessary?
At least, I should be able to extract out the contents from the source as if it was the target, thereby eliminating any sort of production outages (we have many constraints about shutting down production from fuctional perspective).
I'll do some research around the other tools mentioned to see if they can lend a hand fixing the issue, -
Java Add-in System Copy - same Java Support Package levels ?
Hi,
I'm looking at performing a standard SAP Netweaver 04 SAP Web Application Server system "refresh" procedure. I plan to copy the production system ( SAP WAS 640 ABAP+Java addin )to an already installed QA system that was installed originally exactly the same as Prod. Both have the same components installed and the ABAP stack Support package levels are identical. What I've found is that the Java Add-in Support package levels vary. Is it possible to perform the system copy "refresh" if the Java components differ. ( Prod J2EE is 640 SP13, QA is SP14 and Adobe & ESS/MSS components differ ).
I've looked through the system copy guides and the NW04 SR1 system copy OSS note 785848, but can't find anything about this situation.
Hopefully someone else out there can tell me if it's possible, without first patching Production to the same levels as the QA system being overwritten.
Regards,
Brian.Hello,
u can do that w/o applying the patch ..but after doing system copy u have latest SP13 as of u r PRD server instead of SP14 in QA....if required then u can apply it again in QA....SP14.
So if u not got my point then tell me...
thanks..

Delete JAVA Stack in system with ABAP+JAVA
Hello,
A few days ago I installed a SAP ERP 6.0 SR3 with both stack: ABAP+JAVA.
But now due some things, I want to know if it is possible to delete the JAVA stack! Yesterday I did a search how to do this, how it is possible to do this, and I found a document/presentation "SAP NetWeaver 7.0 - Deinstalling Java Add-In" on the following link:
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/608b079f-d0f2-2c10-62ac-a00f1b6d536f
The database of this system is a MS SQL Server 2008 (R2) and the operation system a Windows Server 2008... and as you can read in this document, it is more focused on Oracle databases, so I would ask you if this document is correct (it is official?) and if it is possible to do this in SQL Server environment, and if you know which are the manuals post installation activities for SQL Server, because all that manual post installation steps in this document is for Oracle DB!
Thank you in advance.
Kind regards,
Joao Dimas - PortugalHello Subhash.Chandra
I did the deinstallation of SAP Java Add-In, for this I followed that document which I described above. After deinstallation through sapinst, I also eliminated some directories as it is mentioned in that document, like the following directories:
DIR_GLOBAL\security\data
DIR_INSTANCE\SDM
DIR_INSTANCE\j2ee
I also delete all Java parameters in default and instance profile (like j2ee*).
So, after all, I started the ABAP instance... the system was starts, but I unfortunately the SAP MMC console show a yellow semaphore which is related with a problem disp+work.EXE, it have the following status:
Running, Message Server connection ok, Dialog Queue time: 0.00 sec, J2EE status info unavailable.
I already restarted the sap system but even so that error is shown!
I checked the dev_disp:

Homogeneous system copy ABAP with Oracle
Hi!
I'm doing a homog. sys. copy with a CRM 7.0, unicode, on Oracle 10.2 and Windows 2008 64-bit.
I'm doing this copy to the same server as the system was one previously, because the system was not installed correctly.
I have uninstalled the instance the old system and have now started the system copy - target system - central instance and have choosen to restore with database backup.
I've run into some problems with the step Create Instance_oradim.
I get the following error in the SAPinstGui
An error occurred while processing option SAP CRM 7.0 Support Release 1 > Software Life-Cycle Options > System Copy > Oracle > Target System Installation > Central System > Based on AS ABAP > Central System( Last error reported by the step :TypeError: rowPar has no properties (in script NW_ABAP_OneHost|ind|ind|ind|ind, line 61644: ???)). You can now:
u2022 Choose Retry to repeat the current step.
u2022 Choose View Log to get more information about the error.
u2022 Stop the option and continue with it later.
Log files are written to C:\Program Files/sapinst_instdir/CRM70/LM/COPY/ORA/SYSTEM/CENTRAL/AS-ABAP/.
I've retried, but it didn't work
When I look in the sapinst file in C:\Program Files/sapinst_instdir/CRM70/LM/COPY/ORA/SYSTEM/CENTRAL/AS-ABAP I found this error.
|NW_ABAP_OneHost|ind|ind|ind|ind|0|0|NW_Onehost_System|ind|ind|ind|ind|1|0|NW_CreateDBandLoad|ind|ind|ind|ind|10|0|NW_CreateDB|ind|ind|ind|ind|0|0|NW_OraDBCheck|ind|ind|ind|ind|0|0|NW_OraDBMain|ind|ind|ind|ind|0|0|NW_OraDBOBR|ind|ind|ind|ind|1|0|NW_OraOBR|ind|ind|ind|ind|5|0|createInstance_oradim was executed with status ERROR ( Last error reported by the step :TypeError: rowPar has no properties (in script NW_ABAP_OneHost|ind|ind|ind|ind, line 61644: ???)).
I also found something that might be an authorization error

Homgeneous System Copy with Java and DB2 with database tools.
Hello,
we have an single java stack (netweaver 2004s) and tried a system copy with database tools.
Source System: DP2, dp2adm, db2dp2, sapdp2db
Target System: SP2, sp2adm, db2sp2, ???
We followed the documentation "System copy for SAP systems based on sap netweaver 2004s SR1 JAVA. We exported the SDM on the source system made a redirected restore with db tools and tried to install a new target system.
During the import in the target system using sapinst we get in the
phase run java migration tool kit the following error message.
Caused by:
com.sap.engine.frame.core.configuration.ConfigurationException: Error
while connecting to DB.
at
com.sap.engine.core.configuration.bootstrap.ConfigurationManagerBootstrapImpl.(ConfigurationManagerBootstrapImpl.java:49)
... 14 more
Caused by: com.ibm.db2.jcc.a.SqlException: Connection authorization
failure occurred. Reason: userid revoked.
What I didn't understand is, that in the documenation it is mentioned, that you have to use the same java database connect user. But during the installation of the target system (SP2) I cannot change the java database connect user to sapdp2db. I'm only allow to enter sapsp2db. That might then cause the connection problem.

Alexander Türk
IHi Alexander
yes , give it a try , but see note
