BI7 report designer issue

Hi, Folks,
The Report designer is not functioning, received this message when attempting to insert a data provider:
Error while loading query metadata , Check the query and portal setting.
RSBOLAP 018 Java system error: call FM BICS_CONS_GET_VIEW_DEF_J_PROXY to ProgId NWPORTAL_PORTAL_NWP on host NWPORTAL with SSO not authorized: Authentication failed.
Pls give me a hand.
If it is basis issue, can you tell me which note do I need to check?

Report Designer - Issue in inserting the query

Hi
I'm facing problem when inserting the query in the Report Designer. Following is the steps I take to create new report in report designer.
1. Developed the query in Bex Analyzer.
2. Click on new in Report Desginer.
3. Click on 'Insert Data Provider'.
4. And at this point it self system throw a message saying that "Do you really want to delete this section? Query will be removed if it is not used in any other section.'
Has anybody come across thos type of issue.
Please advice if I'm going wrong any where.

because a query/workbook.query view created bt Bex abalyzer can't be a data taregt for report designer

I have an issue with bex report designer.
The thing is i have created a query in query designer and that is my data provider for report designer.
I am applying some formatting rules and executing it.
The problem is i am not geting any records except the fields.
Could anyone help in this regard.

There are different sections in a Report Designer. G0Header, G1 Header, Det, G1Footer, G0Footer
G0 Header: Contains only the labels of the feilds that is displayed on the top of every page.
G1 Header: is a level 1 header which is displayed Beneth the Group0 Header
Detail: will display the values of Query Elements(Key/Text) placed in this section.
G1 Footer: Will be displayed once for each G1 Header that is displayed. This Can have the totals.
G0 Header: Will be displayed at the end of the page. The footer can have page nuber or totals.
For Example:
To design a simple report having Distribution Channel and Sales Amount. The report can be designed as
G0 Header: [Distribution Channel].Key [Distribution Channel].Text [Sales Amount]
Detail: [Distribution Channel].Key [Distribution Channel].Text [Sales Amount].Val
G0 Header: [Result] [Sales Amount].Sum

Report Designer Issue

Hi,
I'm executing my query in report desiner but as per the requirement i need to delete some of the columns in the report designer of the selected query.
when i'm selecting the column and click on delete colum it is not deleting the column.
Please advice me to use this funcitonality.

Report Design issue

Hi,
I have two queries. We publish all our reports in portal.
I have a variable calmonth/year for the two queries.
My requirment is second report should be displayed just below the first one i.e. one and two should be attached.

2__
How can this be acheived.
I am required to insert a heading for the second report in the middle. heading at the top for the first one.
If i create a single query by involving all the objects of both the queries how do i insert heading in the middle.
How should i design the above report.

Hi Murali,
For this scenario, better create a WAD report where you can create two table analysis grid (one for each query) and navigation panes. In the General settings of the template you can check the option of "Display common variables Pop up once", so by doing this it is enough to enter the variable value only once and it will be populated to both the queries.
To have a title in the middle, use a Text element and assign the relevant query, and check the option of display query title, at the end you can select the option of "File>Publish>Portal", this should cater your requirement.

BW Query based Report - Design issue

Hi,
I have two BW queries. One fetching the details for sales of all the states over a period of time and another one fetching the sales forecast of all the states over a period of time. The users wishes to see both the sales and forecast in the same report. Can I have both the queries in my crystal report as we do in traditional dbs.

You may need to have 2 different Add-command and join those 2 and handle
have query1 in command1
have query2 in command2
link the 2 commands with common key (this applies for both universe driven and query driven)

Report design issue for discussion

I'm going to generete several reports using JSP--session EJB,session bean
retrieve database,return result to JSP and show in browser.
I like resultset,but resultset is not Serializable, so can't send one across
the wire.
if I turn the ResultSet into a Vector,send vector to JSP,I'll have to build
diffrent structure classes for each reports.I like the resultset becuse it
seems "consolidate" for diffrent tables
JDBC2.0 provides cachedrowset,but it seems only good for small set of
data,for report,I need to return alot of data
do you have any sugguestions

Suggestion:
Unless you have a good reason, don't use EJB for this.
1) It is non-transactional (probably)
2) It is not distributed (ejbs are probably local)
3) Were it distributed, it would suck (high cost of transmission with
report-scale data)
4) You are fighting something ... if it doesn't seem natural, it probably
aint.

After giving user name & password in report designer screen, nothing happens & it get disconnected after some time. They are facing this issue in whole BW landscape.

Font issue between Reports Designer and Report Output

Hi.
I've succesfully migrated several reports from 6i to 10g (10.1.2.0.2) with and without parameter form. However, I have the following font issue:
- When report is run from Reports Designer, font is kept.
- When report is run from a forms module (through rwserver on the same machine, that is not really from an application server, but using Oracle BC4J or Developer Suite enviroment) the report output is different. In this case a bigger font is displayed and occasional truncation happens for some fields.
The question is: How can i avoid this difference in font behaviour?. Is it font.ali related?. How come this happen on the same machine(Windows XP)? These reports are to be deployed on Linux, where reasonably, and font machine is expected to happen.

this might be an issue with the printer that is associated also, and the permissions to the printer that you might have..
login to the application server machine and restart the reports server as an admin..try running the reports via the URL..i have a feeling that this issue might be somethiing to do with the permission(s) to the printer from your AS machine

Report Designer Locking issue

Hi,
We have found locking issue while accessing same report(Created in Report Designer) by multi users at a time .
Has anyone face this issue and How to fix it. It's major concern because same report can be accessed by multiusers at same time

Siva,
only one person at a time has permission to open the report in the Report designer - just like with Queries in the query designer. This should not have any effect on you actually executing the report in the portal - multiple people can do it then.
this is a security issue that other software vendors use as well - just like you cannot open any MS Office files on the network for editing that someone has opened already.

Please share experience with Report Designer in BI7

I am looking for people to share their hands on experience with Report Designer in BI 7.0.
I have seen the video, blogs, sap documentation, and the marketing materials. I have also test driven it myself. I have found not found it very useful for complex formatting. While I know there will be lots of opinions, I am looking for real life, hands on experiences you have had with the tool and if some of the complex things you have been able to do with it.
Here are some of challenges we are faced with:
1. Need ability to combine data from multiple queries into a single report. For example, one query has statistics and the other has amounts. We need to be able to create averages combining the data from both queries into a SINGLE result area.
2. We have need to be able to create a report where GL Accounts with activity over threshold amount are shown with a line for each account. Any accounts with amounts less than threshold, should be grouped on a line called 'other'. Again, this needs to be combined into a single result area.
When I say, single result area, I mean to be able to calculate amounts using data from both queries into a single result area. Displaying each query separately side by side is not an issue.

Have been playing around with Report Designer and I found it useful for basic formatting but not for the one's you had mentioned in your post.
SAPs suggests you do all the data manipulation in the Query Designer or Infocube and use Report Designer for just formatting the data. In the past we had issues where we could not certain calculation in query designer and have used Crystal Reports along with BI data for similar kind of things which you had mentioned in your post (using sub reports and report level data manipulation). Report Designer unfortunately does not provide any of these functionalities.
I have seen comments from SAP saying Report Designer will be developed further, not sure of any specific functionality whichis coming in. I think it is SAPs first step in the formatted reporting area and may be in the future we will have a tool which can handle much more complex scenarios!

Check if your InfoProvider is in Active status. Also check if you can see data for that in LISTCUBE.

Report designer Query Transport issue!

Hello ALL,
Iu2019ve created a formatted report in Report designer the basis of which is a query developed in Query designer. Now the issue is Iu2019ve captured the query developed in Query designer by going to RSA1Transport connectionQuery Elements, but Iu2019m unable to capture the report designer query i.e when I try to search with this RD query name it says query does not exit.
Can someone please help, how I can transport this Query developed by Query designer.

PDF Print issue in Report designer

Hi All,
I am using Report Designer for formatting group of reports. The issue I face in all is the that when I open the print version of the output in PDF, the words break, for eg: "Department of Biochemistry" will be displayed as "Department of bioc
hemistry". I want to set up in such a way that if the whole word can't fit in one line, then the whole word should go to the next line and not break itself. I see that issue only in Print version whereas when I display the output, that issue doesnot come.
Can anyone let me know what setting I need to do to fix this?
