Binding form data

Hello, everyone.
Tried googling this one and found no examples for this specific question.
Another developer that I work with has a form in which one of the CFSELECTs is dynamically populated by a query. The form also contains two CFINPUT type="text" fields that contain dates; 1/1/currentyear in one, and the current date in the other. The default dates are set at the top of the document and are used in the query that populate the CFSELECT.
What he is attempting to do is develop so that whenever one of the two date fields changes, the query is run with the new date and the CFSELECT repopulated, without reloading the page.
I am pretty sure this would be done with a bind attribute on both of the date CFINPUTs, but I'm very new to the whole bind parameter experience.
I'm also assuming that the query would have to be put inside a method in a CFC and invoked on page load, then accessed via the bind.
Can anyone please help me with this?

If the query depends on those dates, the first thing you will have to do is to ensure the user entered a valid date. The next thing would be to ensure that the dates are still in the expected order, and depending on the circumstances not to far apart. You probably want to do this with js.
Once your dates pass muster, you can use js to send the info to cf and get it back. There is more than one way to accomplish this. My choice would be with an inline frame and innerHTML, but that's because I can't use anything more modern than cf7.
The file in the iframe would have to be .cfm. Whether it has a cfquery tag or calls the query from a cfc depends on other circumstances.

Apperently in Adobe Form, the data for a variable field can be bound in 'object-binding tab' - Object can be a text field or a subform - Could someone please tell me whether it is a common practice to bind data at the subform level ? or It is better to create a text field in the subform then bind the data to it? and will there be any problem later on If I bind data directly to a subform? - I'm new to this and I cannot find answer anywhere - Thanks

Hi Liem,
Both the ways are correct. There is not any problem doing binding in both the ways. But binding to subform is more easier. In case of creating tables it is preferred to drag and drop the data node from the data view to the form, as it is more easier and error free.

Trying to bind XML data and form fields

I have a fairly simple PDF - and I am trying to bind XML data to he form fields.
In the designer I can bring up the data connection and
select Global - for the binding method - and as I understand it - this will link Form Fields and XML data fields with the same name - (sounds logical to me)
but all that happens is :
I see the name of the field in the form field rahter than seeing the actual data
should I select : None as the binding or normal ....
but Normal doesnt show Anything - even after i select it .
I can't quite seem to make this work -
Any help here would be appreciated

How to bind the data from my data source table to my jsp action form

I am doing one small application in that i need to bind my data to the database table, that means if i enter any data in my action form fields then it should get appended at database. I have done the binding but it is not appending to the database table. May be i didnt bind the data properly, can anyone help me out in solving this problem. Its very urgent because i have to submit this application today itself. Please help me out from this problem. please tell me from the basics and give me some example.

Is that possible there was the field ZDATE in your form interface/ context and now it is not? I guess some source has changed so the field in the form (binding to the not existing field) cannot be processed. Otto

Access the adobe form data in the workflow container for further processin

HI,
I am using HCM processes and Forms. I need to access the form data in the workflow container once the workflow kicks off.
I need to access these data as would need it for further processing in the workflow.
I know that TS17900110 allows to import form conatiner to
-> WF Container in the field name and value pair. But I need to access a lot more fields than what is in the task. Is there a standard task which allow to retrieve all the fields in the form in one task or do I need to develope a custom class to do that. If so could you please provide some clue as in how to code this specific requirement as i am somewhat new to OO ABAP.

in the livecycle designer under libary tab u have webdynpro tab--->choose submit to sap button and place it in the adobe form ur designing. u can use this button to trigger the code that u have written in webdynpro java.
for eg if u have
a value node details
and under that two value attr fname,lname
import the model (Insertdata---it has two import param fname and lname)u need for updating the data to r3 system.
in the ctrller have a method submit.Here write the code to insert fname and lname into the db.

LiveCycle Designer 8/ Acrobat Pro 8-form data

Not skilled in using the LiveCycle Designer included in Acrobat Pro 8, I have been struggling for a couple of weeks, trying to format a sample form and export data to a .csv file to read in Excel or notepad, once saved in .pdf and completed. I have the basics, but can't accomplish the more advanced. So far, I have used LiveCycle Deisgner to create a one page table form, with a header, 20 columns and 16 rows. The header cells are all text boxes labeling the columns below them. The rows have mostly text input cells/boxes, a few drop- down list boxes.
I can complete, in .pdf, a couple of sample lines with made-up names, other data as a test. It will save, the using manage form data>merge data files into a spreadsheet, I can create a .csv and view it in Excel.
Here's where the difficulty begins. I need the .csv to display every cell/box, even if blank, and in the correct row. The form data will be used by a genetics program's import module to import data and needs to be either a .txt or .csv tab, comma or other symbol (for example, @) delimited file, where blanks are represented by one extra delimiter (as a spacer) for each blank. The .csv data display is anything but that. The header runs across the first .csv row with names like :"form1[0].ID1[0]" while the only other row showing is all of the sample data from the .pdf's 2 completed sample data lines, all in one row, with some blank cells/boxes shown, and some not shown.
Since eventually, once the form is "up and running," it can collect 50+ rows, I was hoping not to have to manually edit the .csv to get it into the acceptable format for the other program's import module.
I am at a loss about how to set up the form in LiveCycle Designer so that the header row doesn't export to the .csv (I am unable to find the data binding controls for these text/header boxes to set them to "none."), the blank cells/boxes all register, rather than only some, and the row 1 data goes on the .csv's row 1 and the row 2 data to the .csv's row 2, etc., rather than an endlessly long single row.
I've already searched forum's, plus the help files for LiveCycle Designer and Acrobat, with no success.
Any ideas, solutions or places where I can check further would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
With LC Designer you can develop a form which has data connections to databases and/or web services.
The issues to consider are: what version of Acrobat will the user have; and if the user only has the Reader then how are you Reader Extending the form.
User has the fulll version of Acrobat:
user can open form;
fill it in;
print it;
data connections to databases and web services will work;
user can save the form.
User has the Reader (form not Reader Enabled)
user can open form;
fill it in;
print it;
data connections to databases and web services will NOT work;
user CANNOT save the form.
User has the Reader (form Reader Enabled using the full version of Acrobat before deployment. See licence restrictions)
user can open form;
fill it in;
print it;
data connections to databases and web services will NOT work;
user can save the form.
User has the Reader (form Reader Enabled using the full LC Enterprise Suite)
user can open form;
fill it in;
print it;

Form Data Order in XML

How can you organize form data exported via XML Email Submit button? I would expect this data to follow the order within the XDP object heirarcy, however the results jump from object to object on different pages. Forget about mapping this to a database...in this case I just want the raw data to be merged via Acrobat and into a .CSV
Is there something I'm missing? Would I need an XML Schema...thats seems like overkill. By the way I created this on Designer 11 but have tried it in Design 8.2 as well. I would expect this to function just like this feature did with AcroForms.

Figured it out. You veterans will probably laugh, but I don't do a lot of this. I found a pallette called "Binding" and noticed a list of the fields there. Two were missing and they happened to be the ones that were out of order. I compared them to the ones that were there and the missing ones were marked global while the others were marked normal. I changed those two to normal, they showed up in the binding pallatte in the right order and my test worked just fine.

You need to convert the binary data to characters, a String, before you can properly display it. You say that <i>System.err.println(rs.getBytes("MESSAGE").toString());</i> prints human unreadable stuff. Maybe you need to use another character encoding, like this
byte[] message = rs.getBytes("MESSAGE");
String s = new String(message, "UTF-8"); // or "ISO-8859-1"
It all depends on how the original email message, presumably text, was stored in the database. There's no general way to convert a byte[] to a String and vice versa.
BTW, if you populate your OutMailBean using <i>outMailBean.setMessages(request.getParameterValues("message"));</i> then you're actually saying an email can have several messages and OutMailBean contains a <i>String[] messages</i> attribute. Then, you call the <i>outMailBean.setMessage</i> method which implies an email has one message and according to you comment OutMailBean contains a <i>byte[] message</i> attribute. The question is of course how you convert the <i>String[] messages</i> attribute to the <i>byte[] message</i> attribute. In other words, what does <i>util.convertStringBufferToByteArr</i> exactly do? It doesn't even convert a <i>StringBuffer</i>, but a <i>String[]</i>. What you probably want to do is something like

Send form. data from standalone pdf to LC Forms

Hello,
I am new in Adobe LC ES platform and would like to ask for advice with following.
I need to provide user with a standalone pdf form, user should then be able to fill the form and send it to LiveCycle Forms server.
I originally thought that easiest way to implement it is via SOAP, but I have not been able to make some working HelloWorld example. I have red some articles that suggests some workarounds (pdf form -> webserver -> SOAP to LC server; or to use coldFusion).
Is there any tutorial or example which would describe posting of form to LiveCycle forms, when not using LC Workspace (not over mail or watched folders) ? Or what way would you suggest to deal with this ?
Do I need reader-enable form to make SOAP call to store form data by Reader?

It looks, that using web services may be after all most suitable for task needs.
Perhaps last problem I have is to properly bind pdf form to a process variable.
I need to send pdf form to some livecycle process, which would store form entries to database. I am trying it in this way:
- as a process start poin is defined [Set Value] service with execute action.
- there is defined input, process, required variable "form" of type xfaForm with associated template-url pointing to mentioned .pdf form
- in [Set Value] service it is only asserted some parts of "form" variable to another process variables
tests:
If I run process via wokbench (right-click on swim line + ivoke process), it returns job-id and values are stored in db (internal adobe table created for this process). But if I send (soaps) directly the pdf form and sniff the response packet, there is :

The input BLOB object should have attachmentID, remoteURL, or binaryData field specified.

... and nothing is stored to db.
Am I doing wrong mapping (wrong variable type? wrong assertion? ) or is this way bad completely.
I have searched some article about the process side of WS binding, but haven't found nothing for LC 8.2.

My form data is not being displayed when signing in to different websites such as Facebook.

I have tried clearing the history and form data, and I have tried deleting the specific sites that I've been having problems with and still has not fixed the problem.

Mutipart/form data in request

Hi to All,
I need to get the form bean object values in filter class from the request for doing some validation.
For get request there is no problem to get the data from the request. But for the 'multipart/form-data'
after reading the data in filter class , it is not able to retrieve in the action class. But I am using 'RequestWrapper'
then the normal request datas get losed. I need to get the data from both POST and GET.

In the InfoCube tree, choose the InfoCube that you want to fill > right click > Administrate.
Choose Reconstruct > Selection, and, using the selection options, determine the requests that you want to use to reconstruct the InfoCube.
Select the corresponding requests from the list, and choose Reconstruct.
<b>NOTE:</b>
This function is particularly useful, if you are loading deltas, that is, data that you cannot request again from the source system.

In my program I want to upload a file along with other details.
I've dowloaded org.apache.commons.fileupload.* jar files and everything works fine only if I give
