Bios 3.1.1.2908 for px12-400r

Why is information about updating the BIOS hard to find? Link https://lenovo-na-en.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/31698
clearly indicated the possibility of updating, but technical support is making every effort that would not help with this issue. Very sad that the old forum was not transferred with all error messages and problems of this equipment. If this information would be more readily available, I would think twice before you order this equipment.

Hi AlexArt,
Have you already inserted the WD hard drives into the px12-400r and tried to boot with them? If the device boots with the WD drives, then the BIOS update is already applied.
If it does not boot, you will need to contact the support team in Russia/Europe to get the BIOS update link and then download it and apply it to your hard drives. You can contact support by clicking on the link below.

  • Reading SNMP OID for used storage on px12-400r

Hi, does anyone know how get the correct value for used disk space via snmp on the px12-400r nas?
All capacity is configured as one big cifs share. I want to monitor the usage of space with snmp.
If I do a snmpwalk (v3) I can pinout the filesystem /mnt/pools/A/A0 on OID 1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.3.38.
If I read the oid for StorageUsed I get a strange negative value: -1084997477
This value changes while data are written to the cifs share so it seems to be monitoring. But what to do with this negative value?
    Thanks for any help!
    /Anders

    Hello anders-px12-400
I recommend checking with rtrevino from his thread.   The unit's are different, but the firmware is bascially the same across all Lifeline devices

  • Minimum Firmware Version on PX12-400R for VMware ESXi 5.5

    Hi,
I'm planning on upgrading my VMware ESXi hosts from 5.0 to 5.5.
The hosts have VMware Datastores mounted on our Lenovo / IOmega PX12-400R NAS.
The PX12-400R is currently on firmware version 3.3.4.29700 - will this version work ok with ESXi 5.5?
    Thanks,
    Steve.

The PX12-400R is curriently up to Firmware Version 4.0.8.23976.  I would suggest updating your Firmware to latest which could fix many of the issues.

  • PX12-400r - deleting snapshots

Trying to remove snapshots. It is taking forever and is taking up all the systme resources on the PX12-400r. How long should it take to remove a snapshot?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello amcgill0517
Deleting a Snapshot usually will not take very long. However there some situations that could cause delay the deletion or prevent it.
    1. The unit is running at very high capacity, usually less that 10% remaining for the storage pool can slow the deletion.
    2. Having the Snapshot mounted and/or being accessing while the deletion is in progress can delay and could prevent the Snapshot from being deleted.  In some cases isolating the unit and direct connecting via ethernet may be needed to avoid this.
If none of the above seem to apply, please contact LenovoEMC Support to further troubleshoot and diagnose what is happening.

  • Px12-400r - HDDs and Bays

    Hi,
I have three questions about px12-400r:
    Question 1:
Is it possible to use 6, 8 or 10 HDD drive bays or a different ammount of 4 or 12 HDDs ? Or other qty different of 4 or 12 HDDs ?
    Question 2:
Is it possible to use 4 HDDs with 1TB and 8 HDDs with 6 TB using two different storage pool volumes ? Ex.: Pool A - 4 HDDs with 1 TB (RAID 5) and Pool B - 8 HDDs with 6 TB (RAID 5) ?
    Question 3:
The new HDDs WD Drives 6 TB WD60EFRX are compatible with px12-400r ?
    Best Regards,
    Luciano Cardoso
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello lutcardoso
It is possible to have an odd number of drives in the unit.  The amount of disks you have installed could affect which RAID options will be available.
As described in the user manual for the px12-400r under Storage Pool Management, you can create multiple storage pools with a minimum of one disk per pool.   If you do create multiple Storage Pools, you can assign different RAID types to each Storage Pool.  The storage pools can use different types of disks, but within each storage pool you should use matching disk model to help prevent array instability.  At the very least matching capacities should be used within a single storage pool.
At this time the WD60EFRX is not officially supported.   see here for the currently supported drive list for the px12-400r/450r

  • Does the px12-400r monitor share free space?

    Hello,
We are the proud owners of a LenovoEMC™ px12-400r and are uploading out database backups to it. via NFSv4. My question is wether or not the px12-400r monitors the available space on those shares. I've seen the px12-400r send events before, but nowhere to really see the triggers for the alarms.
Can we get monitoring of NFS shares?
    Thank you.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello bogd24
Here is a link for the email notication/alert list for the LifeLine OS Email/Alert List
There firmware does not specifcially monitor the shares and update you on the capacity,  however if the volume the shares are located in reaches a point where there is less than 10% free space, you will begin recieving alers/emails about that.  The shares automatically expand within the allotted space of the storage volume.
You can set user level quota values than can trigger alerts per user, see the user manual  and search for "quotas"
If you would like to officially submit a feature request, please contact LenovoEMC support to have an incident created and sent to engineering for consideration.

  • Losing HTTPS web UI access every day on PX12-400r - known issue?

I have two brand new PX12-400r units that are configured identically and connected to the same physical switch.
One of these units loses the ability to accept connections via the HTTPS web interface. I can still ping it and I can still access it via NFS, but in order to restore web UI connectivity someone has to logon to the console directly at the device and restart the software services.
This box is running the latest firmware available from the Lenovo website. Is this a known issue? Since I have two identical units, I suspect that this one may be defective, but before I ship this disappointing device back, I thought it would be worth checking with others first.

  • What BIOS version do I need for this processor?

I am going to be starting round two soon trying to install my new MSI 790FX-GD70 motherboard. I had to RMA the last one because I could not get it to work with anything I did. So my question is this, what BIOS version do I need for my processor to be recognized? I will be using the 790FX-GD70 motherboard with an AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 140W Quad-Core Processor.
And what version comes on the motherboards? I want to make sure I don't encounter problems again when trying to install it. If it requires a BIOS upgrade right out of the box, then I will take it to the local computer store and have them flash it with one of their lower end processors. Thanks in advance!
    - Jonathan

Is the CPU the 125W (1.5) or the 140W (1.3) version? The 125W is the newest and takes a later 1.5 BIOS. Look at the BIOS chip on the MB and write down the number on the sticker that's stuck on it. The last 3 digits = BIOS version, ie. 100 would be 1.0, 110 1.1
It's the chip just above bottom PCIe slot just to the right of N1996 number on the MB. (near the bottom center of MB) The thing is small so you need good young eyes or a magnifying glass to read it.

  • So what BIOS version is the best for K8N SLI Diamond?

And is there a BIOS which allows me to set the v-dimm to something higher than 2.85v? I mean 3.0v would be nice at least. Heck, my old Neo2 865PE did 3.3v right out of the box!

It's not that a BIOS would solve the problem as much as it is a design issue with the motherboard.   Works great for the specifications they designed it for, but the design doesn't allow for much higher vdimm amounts.
The only solution with this board is a do it yourself modification to the motherboard that "will" void your warranty.    By using a potentiometer on the correct traces, you can dial your own vdimm.   Since this does require decent soldering skills, and more importantly will void your warranty, I'll let you google the solution.
As to the number of PCI-E slots, they don't have more due to the limitations of the nForce4 SLI chipset.   The nForce4 SLI chipset only supports a total of 20 PCI-E lanes.
x16 are used for PCI-E slot 1 (or x8 in SLI mode).
x2 are used for PCI-e slot 2 (or x8 in SLI mode, but the other x2 lanes are not available when in this mode and are unused, possibly used in the swtching mechanism as this is the case for the competition as well).
x1 is used for the online Marvel Gigabit LAN, many competitors use a PCI chipset instead allowing an x1 slot instead of this feature.
x1 is used for the online SiI3132 PCI-E SATA II controller. Many competitors use the PCI 3114 SiI chipset allowing a free x1 lane for a slot.
Count these up and we add up to 20 lanes of PCI-E, so not additional slots are available.   As for the competition, using lower performing PCI parts allowed the addition of two x1 slots in addition to the two SLI slots.   Since most add-ons are going to be LAN or SATA, looks like you'll be all set anyways.
This will change with the use of nVIDIA's newer SLI x16 chipset as more lanes are available, allowing for two x16 PCI-E slots and several x1 slots in addition.

    Hello
Tecra A3 is pretty new unit and it will be interesting to know why you want to make BIOS update. Is there any problem with it?
Which BIOS update doesnt run, windows or traditional one? If you have no serious problem, dont do it at all.
The issue with your multidrive is a little bit confused for me. Which software you should install?

E-mail notification does not work. Test message fails, like everyone else. Is that possible? Someone else had this problem?

     Hello gusev67
Have you tried with/without custom email notification (SMTP) settings?
Have you checked if the defaut or custom SMTP port has been forwarded to your px12?
Have you checked if your ISP is blocking SMTP ports for your connection?

  • Px12-400r - trouble without my understanding

    Hi all.
When I open Emc web console -> System state -> Temperature at first time I see processor temperature eq. 60°C. And when i look at this situation then proc. temperature down to 48-49°C in short time. Is it normally? How I can explore logs? Already I had situation then I can't access in Web interface and I did reboot the system. I don't had another way. Can anybody help me.

    Hello Geobor
Temperatures below the 86C warning temperature on a px12 unit are normal and can fluctuate.  You can also check the internal/system fan speeds under System Status>Fans,  The 3x internal/system fans should stay above ~3300 RPM and peak at ~9900 RPM.
For the system event logs you can access them via the All Features>Event Log page
