Black Bar Center Screen After Crack

what can you guys tell me about this iPhone4 CDMA destruction?
this is phone is registered to Verizon but not activated. as it's broken, my friend got her replacement and gave this to me to deal with if I so choose.
also curious if I can get it unlocked and flashed over to metroPCS. cost and whatnot.
thanks.

Just to clarify, I was at the Apple Store today and talked with someone at the Genius Bar and told him the above issue ended up being a battery problem and he replied it was most likely the EFI that was corrupt and with the new battery that was replaced.  They had done a diagnostic on the original battery when I took my iPhone in the first time and said it was fine.  He said that diagnosic unfortunately doesn't test the EFI.

  • 2 Vertical Black Bars Across Screen...

Anyone know about or experienced vertical black bars (2) across the monitor after returning from sleep or standby mode?
I'm just worried my computer will crap out on me when it's most inconvenient so I'm trying to guage what computer problems/elderly computer symptoms I'll be dealing with in it's decline. It's only from 2009, but it's heavily used and has lots of graphic design and media software on it.
Note: The SD card recently stopped working, and the Genius bar determined it was a mechanical failure. Also, the CD burn hasn't been working for a while.
Using a Macbook pro os x, leopard, purchased 2009.

It only happens for a split second, and before/while the computer is waking up so when I try to take a screen shot, it doesn't work because it's not fully on yet. However, I will take a pic with some other device so I do have a picture of it. And I FOR SURE have all my data backed up plus on a flash.
    Thanks for the advice.

  • Black bars on sides after exporting

I recently downloaded the trial version of Premiere Pro CC which I have never before. When exporting, my project has black bars on both sides and I'm not sure how to fix it. I know little about editing so I'm not sure how to fix this problem. I've tried multiple export setting and in each preview I see the black bars as well. Any help would be greaty appreciated. Thanks!

Your photo of the Sequence Settings tells only part of the story. The other parts:
your media: with a clip selected in the Project panel, go to the Info panel and report the frame dimensions.
your export settings: go File>Export>Media and post a screengrab of the Export Settings dialog with the Video tab visible. [btw, a screengrab will be easier for us to read than a photo of your screen...]
Since your source is NTSC DV (720x480 pixels at 0.9091 pixel aspect ratio), you should ideally pick an output preset that matches. For example, h.264/NTSC DV. [If you tell us how you plan to distribute the video, we can give more directed advice on which format to use.]

  • Black Bar on Screen with Text (accidental key combo, can't get rid of it)

In a mad typing dash 2 days ago, I accidentally hit a key combo that placed a black bar in the middle of my screen with the words "Gmail - friday - my email address" (I was in Gmail composing a message at the time). It's visible at all times, using all apps, and on my desktop. I've tried rebooting, quitting all apps, checking my system prefs, looking for answers online, all to no avail. I can't click on it, highlight it or drag it to the trash and I'm at a loss...any suggestions? Many thanks!

Were you able to fix this? I have it too..

  • IPod boots to black bar on screen, nothing else

I got back from the gym a few hours ago and went to plug my IPod (video) in to charge. Now when I boot it, the apple logo appears for a split-second, then disappears and a black bar covers the lower third of the screen. It doesnt show up on the computer at all when i plug in the USB. When I do the 'hold menu+select' trick to reset it, the same thing happens (apple logo then black bar), and I can't restore it because it doesnt show up on the computer. Is there anything I can do, or do I have a new, very expensive paperweight?

This is almost certainly an issue that requires service.

  • FaceTime has black bar on screen before call

When I launch FaceTime on my iPad 4 (retina), I get almost half the screen in portrait mode as a black bar. When I place the call, the screen is fine. This did not happen with iOS 7. Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks Bob for this, it has focused my efforts. It seems to be a bit 'random' to say the least, and my nearest Apple Store is a 100 mile round trip to get to. This is very much an iOS 8 issue, but it seems that dear old Yosemite has a problem as well which wasn't helping my diagnosis (no audio when call is initiated). I shall take my iPad in to my "local" store and see what the resident Geniuses make of it.
Once again, thanks for your input - as a developer it gets a bit lonely here, but when problems surface, it can become alarming!

  • Color switches to a black and white screen after login

iMac 700MHZ Graphite 10.3.9 color issue. When I am logging in the screen is in color but after login when it switches to my desktop the color also switches to a black and white screen. The other user of this computer does not have any problem with the color on his desktop. Has anyone run into this problem before? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Black and green screen after water

Well I did this huge accident by dropping my iPhone 5 into the toilet, but it was only in there for 2sec. I dried the phone and it was still working, but after a while it turned itself off. As a reaction, I hurried starting it again to check if it still was working and it was. But after that, my friend told me to turn the phone off again as soon as possible.
When I got home, I placed the iphone in a bag of rice without any air in it, and waited over 24 hours to check it.
When I checked it(which I think I did too early)- it worked, and I was so happy! Everything, the sound was just fine, but after a while it didn't respond to my touches and suddenly the screen became black and green pixle-ish and grumsy, but I could still see something in the background.
I placed it back into the rice, but this time on my bathroom floor in a bag, because it's warmer there.
I don't dare take it out before I know that most of the water is gone, but at the same time I don't know what the problem with the screen was. Is it possible to fix it? I think I maybe can get some help from a friend, but it would be nice if anyone knew what i could do, or what the problem is.
I also read about people who got problem with black and green screen on their iPads. Everyone who read the thread had hit their iPads on the backside of the iPad and it got normal screen again.

Thanks, I will try that after a couple of days. I want to make sure that my iPhone is completely dry inside.
Anyone who knows how long it may take for an iPhone to dry inside after 2-3sec in water? Its in a bag of rice.

  • Black line across screen after sleep button pressed

    Hi,
When i press the sleep button, i have these black lines appearing across the screen of my ipod which fade away almost immediately. This only happens when i press the sleep button.
Does anyone know if this is a software or hardware issue and can it be fixed?
    thanks

    Okay, I've updated firmware.
Can you tell me, does this mean my iMac was one of
the first off the production line and could have all
    the usual Apple early problems...?
I think I should still take it back to shop and
change it for one of their new stock models in about
3 weeks time when they take delivery of latest stock,
    what do you think?
I'm only suspicious as I bought a first generation
iMac G5 and had fan noise and heat problems galour. I
don't want a repeat with an early Intel iMac.
From what I see other posters saying who have just received new ones directly by special order, they are having to do the firmware updates as well, so there is no way to tell how new yours is or isn't. If these resets do not solve the black screen problem now, I think you'll have to take it back anyway. Unless someone else can give you another idea.
    edit-
I understand what you're saying about the first models of anything, but I've looked at this as actually being the best of the G5 revisions combined with better, cooler running internal components. If yours is as quiet as mine, and if you resolve the black screen issue, my opinion is that it's not worth giving it up. I've been using an iMac Intel that was returned to Apple, I don't know why and don't really care because it works perfectly for me and cost less.

  • Black and white screens after updating On 5800XM

I've just finished updating my 5800XM to the latest software now I seem to have lost the colour on a lot of my screen.

my ipod touch wont turn on ive tried restoring it but every time i do it just says its waiting for the ipod to respond. meanwhile my ipod is no longer a black screen but the apple logo with a loading bar underneath that after leaving for 8 hours hasnt moved.

    Try:
    - Another cable
    - Another USB port
    - Reboot the computer
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Resolution, Aspect Ratio & Black Bars! How to stretch screen?

    Hi!
I have a HP HDX 9200 series laptop computer with an ATI 2600 HD XT and running latest Windows 7 Beta and I first noticed that my games didn't streched to full screen when they weren't using the native resolution on the LCD screen (1680*1050), so, let's say, when running one of them in 1024*768, I get two huge black bars at the side! Now, this didn't happen with previouses OSes (Vista). Then, I noticed that the same happened if I went to change the Windows resolution to 1024*768, I would get the same bars at the sides while being in Windows!
I tried downloading latest ATI W7 drivers to see if there was an option or something to stretch the image, but I couldn't find one.
Can you please let me know how to make the screen scale to the whole display, even if it isn't in the native resolution?
    Thanks in advance.

HERE'S THE SOLUTION TO THE ATI BLACK BARS PROBLEM
It took months for me to find this on the web, so I thought I would share it here, the first hit for 'ATI Black Bars windows 7' on Google.
    1) Open Catalyst Control Center
    2) Use the drop down box at the top to click on Desktops and Displays
    3) At the very bottom where your monitors are displayed, click on the little black arrow and click "Configure".  Note that if configure does not appear, you are clicking on the wrong black triangle (you must use the one in the very bottom section).
    4) This will bring up properties for that display.  Choose "Full Screen" or "Maintain aspect ratio", whatever your preference.  If you are getting black bars on all sides, you are likely on "Centered".
    5) IF THE OPTIONS ARE GREYED OUT, as they were when I first tried this, the workaround is to lower your display resolution before attempting the above.  Once you have changed the setting, you can return your display resolution back to whatever you like and the setting will remain as your display changes (movies, games, etc).
    Hope that helps!!
This DOES NOT WORK for DirectX9-based ATI graphics devices on Windows 7.  In fact, there is currently NO SOLUTION to this problem if you are using a DX9-based ATI graphics device on Windows 7.
ATI has refused to release any proper Windows 7 drivers for their DX9-based devices, so if you are running Windows 7 with such a device, then your only choice is to install the "legacy" Vista driver onto Windows 7.
If your computer is a laptop, this situation is made even more convoluted by the fact that ATI's driver packages refuse to install on laptops unless you use a third-party utility called "ATI Mobility Modder" to first modify ATI's driver package.   Apparently ATI wants you to get the driver from your laptop manufacturer, but since most laptop manufacturers have not bothered to release newer video drivers that really isn't a reasonable expectation on ATI's part.
There is a bug in ATI's "legacy" Vista drivers on Windows 7 which hides the scaling/stretching options that should be present.  Normally you would find these options under the "Notebook Panel Properties" node of the treeview in the Catalyst Control Center.  They show up there fine using the same driver on Vista on the same hardware, but they are mysteriously absent when using the same driver on the same hardware on Windows 7.
It looks increasingly unlikely that ATI will EVER update their "legacy" drivers for their DX9-based graphics devices.  It looks even more unlikely that they will ever develop proper Windws 7 drivers for these devices.  Instead they are focusing all their efforts on their newer DX10-based devices and drivers.
This leaves users of laptops with DX9-based ATI graphics in a particularly frustrating and stupid situation.  DirectX 9 graphics devices are perfectly adequate for running Windows 7, and therefore they should have proper Windows 7 drivers released for them by the manufacturer (ATI).  I shouldn't have to buy an entirely new laptop just so I can get a DX10-based video device just so I can get the stretching/scaling options in Windows 7.  If this were a desktop PC, I could just swap out the video card, but that's not an option on a laptop.
Therefore, it falls on Microsoft to either (1) put pressure on ATI to fix their broken "legacy" Vista DX9 drivers to add back the scaling/stretching options when running on Windows 7, or (2) add an OS-level user option (independent of drivers) that can be used to control the resolution scaling/stretching.
    My specific situation:
I have an HP Compaq 6910p laptop with the ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 graphics chipset (DX9-based).  I am running Windows 7 x64 RTM.  Neither ATI nor HP supply an official Windows 7 driver for this graphics chipset, and the driver supplied by Microsoft is bare-bones (no advanced options/settings like ATI's Catalyst Control Center offers).  So I installed the latest (9.11) ATI "legacy" Vista x64 CCC package (after using ATI Mobility Modder to modify it so it will actually install on the laptop).
I run a lot of classic video game emulators and older games that use old 4:3 resolution modes like 800x600 or 1024x768. When they switch into these modes, I get huge black borders around all edges of the screen (top/bottom/left/right) and a tiny little viewable area right in the center of the screen.  I have to squint to see anything.  What I want -- and I don't think it's an unreasonable expectation at all -- is for the image to be stretched to fill the screen WITHOUT being distorted to change the aspect ratio.  In other words, when I switch to any 4:3 mode (like 800x600) I expect the image to completely fill my screen vertically (all the way to the top and bottom edges) but with black bars along the left/right edges so that the aspect ratio is still truly 4:3.  This is how I was able to make it work with Vista on this same laptop before, so I expect to be able to do the same thing using Windows 7.  Unfortunately there is currently no way to do that, which completely destroys my abillity to use lower resolution modes comfortably on this laptop at all.
Well you can work past that actualy, but the option is annoying to do everytime since when i go to a lower resolution everything becomes blurry and so on.
Heres what you do when you use a dx9 graphics card.
    1. lower you resolution one step down. I use 1680x1050 so i went to 1600x1024.
You should have the black bars lower bottom on the side different to everyone.
    2. Since CCC dosnt give the scaeling option under "Notebook & Panel Properties" in Advanced View
you change to basic and do it under Quick Settings.
    3. take "Notebook & Panel Properties" on the right side in the box click on " Resize the desktop to fit the display panel" and click go change it to "Resize to fit the display panel"
NOTE.  the trick is that it changes back automaticaly to "Do not resize" when you have your maximum resolution that is recommended by W7 thats why you need to take some other resolution.
I know its annoying to change it all the time but its the best there is right now and atleast you got the games fit to the screen and you can change the resolution back each time but then you got to do the resize with CCC again when you want to play some games.
Hope it was a help to you.

  • Black screen after login while on battery with graphics switching enabled

Getting a black screen after entering my password while logging into my account while on battery with graphics switching enabled. Everything is up and running, I just can't see it.
I can log into the guest account on battery
I can log into my account while plugged into power
I can log into my account on battery if graphics switching is disabled
I believe something that is starting up in my account is causing the system to switch from integrated to discrete graphics on login, and that switch isn't working correctly on battery power.
As a work around for now, I can run with graphics switching disabled, but I'd like to solve this so I get longer battery life.
    MacBook Pro Retina 15"
    Mountain Lion
    All updates applied

I had the same issue and managed to reslove it.
    Shut down your machine.
Power it back on while holding the 'shift' key (left or right, doesn't matter)
You will see a greay progress bar go across the screen while you boot in to 'safe boot'
Once booted, login, and go to Energy Saver and turn on 'Automatic Graphics Switching'.
Reboot back in to normal mode, and you should be able to log back in and see again.
I did this without being plugged into AC power.
    Hope it helps!
    Cheers!

  • I get every time after rendering four black bars around the video, I would like to fix this because it is not really professional.

sorry for my poor english, I have a problem with adobe premiere elements 12 when I render I get a video black bars on all sides of the screen, which makes the video smaller. How do I fix this?

    Bram Bakker
Are you OK with translating the language English to Dutch? Have you been using the Translate button at the bottom right of the posts to translate what is written in English to Nederlands (Dutch)? Is the major problem that you cannot find the locations that I point to in Premiere Elements?
    1. What are the properties of the video that you are putting on the Timeline? The quick way to find this
information is knowing brand/model/settings of the camera that recorded the video on the Timeline.
From this question I am trying to find out what the properties are for your video - video compression, audio compression, frame size, interlaced or progressive, file extension, pixel aspect ratio. I was hoping that you could tell me the brand/model/settings of the camera recording the video so that I could find the information myself.
    2. What are you setting (manually) or the project (automatically) as the project preset that will match
the properties of the video that you are importing? If you do not know, then tell us what you see under
Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and the readouts for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size, and Pixel
Aspect Ratio, even if the fields look grayed out.
Besides knowing the properties of your video, it is just as important to know the project settings. Are you setting them yourself or just dragging the video to the Timeline and letting the project set the project preset automatically? If you are doing nothing, then the answer is that the project is doing the setting automatically.
Either way, you can find out what is being set by going to Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and looking for the reading that you see in the following screenshot.
    3. The next big question is "What do you mean by rendering?"
Do you see these black borders after you render the Timeline content in the Edit area to get the best
possible preview of what you are seeing in the Edit area monitor?
    or
Do you see these black borders after you go to Publish+Share/ and export the Timeline video?
If your "rendering" refers to the export of the Timeline, please tell us Publish+Share/and then what?
This question 3 should not need a screenshot. The question is where are you seeing the black border in your video.
    a. When you are in the Edit Area of the program and you press the Enter key of the computer main keyboard or the Render
    button above the Timeline.
    or
    b. After you have exported your Timeline using Publish+Share/ and one of the export paths.
Please see if any of the above helps. If it does not, then let us try this. In Dutch if you want, describe in your own words
what you are doing in much more detail and post screenshots of the areas involved on your Premiere Elements 12.
Then I will deal with interpreting what you wrote.
We want you to succeed. So whatever way works, that is the way to go.
The answers are in the details.
    Thank you.
