Black or white nano?

I rodered a black nano and its supposed to ship in tomorrow or the enxt day. I can still cancel it. With all the stuff being said about how u can notice the scratched more on the black one Ive been thinkin about cancelling my order n ordering a white one
Any Suggestions??

I got a black nano, and my bro has a white nano.
They look great IMO. As for scratches, definitely get a case.
And DO NOT take out that stick that protects the front of your nano until you get a case. That way, your nano should be protected.
As for your question, keep the black one. Just don't take that sticker out that comes with the Nano until you get a case and you should be fine.

Trying to update and my nano screen goes from color to black and white...

Last time this happened I lost all of the information on my ipod.
I was trying to get my newly purchased music from itunes to my nano. I couldn't. The help sections told me to update my ipod. I'm currently trying to update with 2006-03-23 and the screen still says "initializing" and actually as I type this the screen that says initializing appears frozen (although I've learned apple stuff is weird because it appears frozen but it's not). How long should this take? Is there something I'm doing wrong? Why does my ipod screen go from color to black and white? Do I need to redo anything? Do I need to reset my nano?
Please help with the ******** mac user (I've always used Windows and I am lost in the mac world apparently when it comes to ipods)

Can you get the exact wording for that error? Is it can't mount iPod?
Also, make sure iTunes is up to date...

Black nano vs white nano

I'm about to get an iPod nano and i just cant decide w hich color to get...black or white. I also heard that one of the colors is better because scratches are less visible on it???Is this true???

With a back lit screen it's just beautiful. Everyone that got a glance of mine was astounded by the looks. I have no regrets getting a black nano.

I cant get the black and white apple screen off

every time its not being used or chraged, it goes to a black and white screen with an apple on it.
its not at hold and it is responding but how do i get it off of the screen?
its not working for me at all.
oh... and when ever i try to update my ipod, it never works.
only when i have the cd in there, and i redownload it.
is there any way to skip around any of these steps?
because i really dont want to go through the complicated prosses of downloading the softwear every time the softwear refuses to work.

80GB ipod only outputs in black and white

I just bought a new 80GB 5th Gen iPod and hooked it up to my TV and it only outputs the picture in Black and White. If I take my old 60GB 5th Gen iPod it will output a picture no problem in color with the same TV and the same cable hooked up the same way.
All TV out settings are the same:
TV Out: Ask (I turn to ON)
NTSC
Widescreen On
Cable: Apple's iPod AV Cable M9765G/A
The weird thing though is if I take my new 80GB 5th Gen iPod and hook it up to my "MyVu" headsup display, it displays in color. It just won't do it on my TV.
Why won't it display color on my TV?

Try a different Video file on the 80 GB;to see if any changes? Are there any other title;s Videos are Podcast,
TV Shows that will playback in color-- if so It's possible that your file format is not compatible.
Check to see how the video files are define by format, frame rate etc; that your using as a reference to playback on TV.
See if you have any other Video's on the 80GB that will play in color.
Make sure your 80GB is using Itunes Version 7.0 or higher

5G iPod - Black or White?

I'm looking for some pros and cons here... iPod is all sleek and shiny. Which color holds up better, black or white? I've had two white iPods and am now thinking black is the way to go. Aside from having a white iMac, white earbuds, dock and cables... why have a black iPod... other than the "coolness factor?" Thoughts, anyone?

Yes, a company called RadTech makes a product called Ice Cream, a polycarbonate/acrylic compound to remove surface scratches on iPods and other things like laptops, cell phones, PDAs, jewelry, etc. Here's the link:

Black o White?

Hey guys/girls.
I was wondering. I'm planning to get the new iPod video, but I can't decide whether to get the black or a white. Can yall help me please. So far I have the silver mini, and the White nano.

most of my guy friends prefer black. i dont no perhaps they think its more "bada**" hahah but i personally like the white because from wat ive heard, the scratches are less obvious.
but if u use an invisibleSHIELD scratches dont matter.
actaully i kinda like the black one but most of the accesories for the iPod come in white. For example, most USB cords and headphones and dock systems are white, therefor matching ur iPod.

White Nano and Scratching

Hey everybody
I just love the new Nano and was thinking about getting one soon but the discussion about the scratching made me hesitate. So far I have only read about black Nanos being scratched easily. Is it only because you can see scratches easier on the black surface or is the white one made from stronger fabrics?
Does anyone of you owners of white Nanos have problems with scratches and the readability of the screen etc.?
Would like to hear about your experiences.

yes...my white nano has problems with scratches...all over the unit (including the screen). i have stopped using it until i receive the icleaner that i ordered (scratch remover) and the invisible shield that i ordered (to protect it from further damage). thanks, apple
my sony psp never scratched as bad as my white nano.
other than that....its a great little mp3 player and i cant wait get to get it cleaned up and protected so i can start using it again.

Scratches are OK, but who will scratch less: black or white?

Yes, we all get scratches, and my white 30 Gig iPod looks fine, even with minor scratches. But will scratches show up more on a black nano surface when compared with a white nano, or is this a moot point?

Deffinitaly the Black nanos. the white doesnt show up really at all unless from certain angles, where as black is plain as day even in the dark.. my advice if your going to get one.. white. black is cool but when it comes down to it.. do you want scratches that look like crap? or the just fine white that looks normal

White nano click wheel(quick question)

im just wondering if the click wheel is supposed to be a little loose on the white nano.... my white touch pad is a little loose, but not too loose, when a black nano seems to be in place a little more... just today i held an Ipod video(white) and the wheel was as loose as mine, as my friends black Ipod video acted the same as a black nano.. why is this, or is it a defect of somesort.....

I think I know what you are talking about and I don't think it's specific to any particular color. I believe sometimes when it's exposed to certain conditions the plastic may have been shaped slightly differently or possibly later very minorly warped. Nothing to worry about though unless I misunderstand you.

Playback on TV is only is only black and white, any idea what setting is causing this. It is played back via a Denon asd-11r.

I have hooked my nano up to a Denon ASD-11R to play back thru my home system. Audio is GREAT, video is only playing back in Black and White. Anyone have ideas what setting is wrong fro video playback?

RAW capture includes color information. The b/w is just a camera setting like white balance that does not change the actual capture of "RAW" image data (which is why we can easily change exposure, WB etc. during post processing edits of RAW captures).
Your solution is to shoot RAW + JPEG capture. The JPEGs will have the camera mods like b/w; or the RAWs can be converted to b/w using Aperture or an image editor like GIMP or Pixelmator.
In the past if pix remained b/w upon import it was because you were seeing the camera JPEGs, not RAW.

I bought three colors of the zCover case, black, blue and ice clear.
I am most impressed with the look of the ice clear case, as I believe that it mantains the classic iPod look.
The blue one is for my wife, and it looks pretty nice.
The black case looks dirty all the time because the dust it attracts really shows up.
Overall the sheath and lanyard style cases are very nice in feel, fit and features.
Using the scroll wheel will take a little bit of tactile adjustment, as it does require that you apply a slight bit more pressure for it to respond.
I especially like two features, that include the hard screen protector and the flip open bottom on the lanyard style case.
I would like to see the flip open bottom feature also applied to the sheath style case, because the Nano will not fit into the Nano dock with a case on it.

I just pruchased a DVI to Video adapter and unfortunately, it doesn't work (the display on my TV is black and white).
I use a S-Video cable.
I tried restarting and using other displays.

How can I print with the black and white cartridge only?

I am trying to print using the black and white cartridge only because magenta is out of ink but I'm getting the following error message in HP Photosmart C7200 series print dialog:
The printer is out of ink.
The following ink cartridges are empty: Magenta. Replace these ink cartridges to resume printing.
How can I print with the black and white cartridge only?

I am absolutely disgusted by this; clearly a scam from HP to make more money by selling extra ink cartridges!! I will make sure to never buy any products from the shoddy rip off merchants at HP ever again!!

Check the printer itself. Some printers you need to set the color & B&W settings on the printer itself instead of the Mac. If that is not the case w/your printer, contact HP tech support and/or post in their forums if they have one.
