Blackberry Torch Network Signaling - ATT to Verizon

Hello!
I'm trying to find out whether or not my AT&T Blackberry Tourch can be converted to be used on Verizon's Network?  I'm with the understanding that AT&T utilizes GSM Network Signaling and that Verizon utilizes CDMA Network Signaling?  I purchased my Blackberry phone when I was living around metro Atlanta, now that I'm in Illinois the signal I get from AT&T where I live is so poor I can call my cell phone and it won't even ring. In addition that many of my friends and family are on Verizon's network.
I'm with the impression that many if not all Cell Phones are set up for both GSM or CDMA depending on how their software is programmed in the Cell Phone.
I've forwarded this information to a company that you can purchase "Unlock Codes" from and they weren't sure and indicated that I should contact the Phone Manufacturer.   I really don't want to spend the money to "Unlock" the phone if I can't move it to a Verizon's CDMA network.
Any information is greatly appreciated.
David

I think the current unlock rate is $6. However I was told you can't use an AT&T phone on VZW .
THE BITTERNESS OF POOR QUALITY, LINGERS LONG AFTER THE CHEAPNESS OF PRICE, IS SOON FORGOTTEN.

Will verizon get the blackberry torch? I am incredibly picky when it comes to phones and i have fallen in love with the blackberry torch but i do not want at&t service at all so I figured I would ask here hoping someone might have the answer.

Have a link? As mentioned, my research couldn't find anything about CDMA.
Would love to read an official statement. Thanks.
BTW, know what is listed at Shop BlackBerry, they never sell anything except GSM.

  • IPhone 5 network signal when lock and unlock goes to Searching--- No service--- ATT

    Hi All,
I am Bharat from Boise, ID. I have bought iPhone 5 few months ago and recently I am facing network signal issue with my iPhone 5. I have tried reset the network settings, Reset all settings, Removed SIM and installed. Still I face the same problem. When I lock the mobile and unlock its showing the signal as Searching then goes to No Service than gets ATT signal. Before I used iPhone 4 and there was no such issues. Would like to know is this issue in some products? So that can replace that might help. Please give your valuable suggestions that greatly helps in resolving the issue. Appreciate your help!!!!
    Thanks
    Bharat

I suggest that you stop by an AT&T corporate store, not a reseller, and see about replacing the SIM card for the phone. If this does not fix your issue, then you can make an appointment with the Genius Bar at the Apple store and have them check out the hardware.

  • Unlocked Blackberry Torch - Trying to get it to work on "Consumer Cellular"

I purcased a SIM card from "Consumer Cellular" yesterday and am trying to get my ATT BB Torch to work on their network.  It's a GSM phone and from what I understand "Consumer Cellular" is GSM and rides on the ATT network. I have just unlocked my BB 9800 Torch but still have NO network connections and the phone is indicating that I need to insert a SIM card even though I have the SIM card in the phone.  I've spoken to "Consumer Cellular" twice about this with no avail. (NOTE: I was able to get my "Unlock Code" from ATT so I beleive it should be valid and the phone indicated that the code WAS accepted, however now everything on the phone indicates "Its Disabled")
So, has anybody tried to get their ATT/GSM Blackberry Torch to work on "Consumer Cellular's" network?  I'd just like to be able to use my Blackberry again, I don't even care if the data doesn't work.
    ANY help is GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks,
    David

Never mind!  Got it working, re-installed the SIM card, called "Consumer Wireles" customer support and got it working.  Made calls and sent and received text messages.  My signal at home it not strong enough to test the DATA (surfing the net) application yet.

  • Blackberry torch 9800 wifi connected but no internet

hi i am using blackbery torch 9800.its giving error that wifi is connected but no internet connection.please help me

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
With a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Reboot
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support and to ensure that you are subscribed to a data plan from them that is adequate to use the services you desire (many services require a data plan, even if the method of access is only WiFi).
    Good luck!

  • Cannot use my email on blackberry torch 9869 no connexion

Hello After checking with my provider not an issue on their side, they say is issue with blackberry configuration of email account: i change my phone to a new one, torch, and saved my data on it, so my email is well configurated, but there is still no connexion (cannot send or receive mails) I tried to fix by recreating my email account (the same) but doesnt work.. And i only have 3 trials remaining now.. Do you know how i can first "" remove " my email account from this blackberry, and then re create it as a new one? Many thx for your help!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Well, given the way you have described things, there is some confusion in understanding your situation. For example, I've never seen a limit to how many attempts you can make to configure email (you saying you "have only 3 trials remaining")...I am not at all sure where you are seeing that...if you could provide a full description of the message that is giving this, then we might be able to understand better.
In any event, one thing to try is this...

  • BLACKBERRY TORCH - won't turn on and desktop manager won't recognise it - I can't get my contacts

    Hi all,
I'm new to this so please bare with me.
I'll try and be as brief as possible. Up until last week I had the Blackberry Torch 9800. I was due an upgrade and about two days before I went to contact my network provider my Torch battery died (it wasn't broken at this point, it just was drained and needed charged) so I went to charge it and it did that thing where the battery was so dead it wouldn't even switch on whilst charging.
I plugged it in and rather than charge like normal it was completely dead and the only activity it offered me was two red flashing lights as it 'charged'. From that moment on it has not turned on. Dead as can be. If I plug to charge (wall charger OR USB port) I get the two bright red flashing notification lights but it will not go on.
Anyway rather than send it to be repaired I opted for a new phone as I was due an upgrade anyway and intended on doing so whether the Torch was alive and kicking at this point or not. Cut a long story short I got my new blackberry (9360 curve) it is all set up with my e-mail etc, media card and same sim card swapped over but as Blackberry insist on your contact numbers being saved to the handset and not the sim my contacts are stuck in my Torch 9800.
When I go to plug the Torch in to Desktop manager to get the contacts saved to there and then sync over to my new handset the Torch is so dead that DManager won't even read/recognise it. My network say since this is not an issue with network etc they can't really help and gave me a number for Blackberry services in England somewhere (they are office hrs so can't phone until Monday morning).
Please can someone help? I have my new 9360 all up and running but my contacts are stuck in my Torch and that is the only place they are? DManager won't recognise the Torch because it is dead - except the two flashing lights - and therefore won't let me at the contacts that way.
ANY help would be appreciated - please not too techinal as not great with all of that side of things!
    Sorry for the long post.

  • Memory leak issue on Blackberry Torch 9860

I own a Blackberry Torch 9860 Os 7.0 Bundle 1465 for the last 5 months
Previously I had Blackberry Curve 9300 which I had upgraded to OS 6.0. It had memory leak issues wherein my application memory would gradually dropdown to merely KBs within a few days and I had to reboot it to restore the same.
When I purchased Torch 9860, I migrated my device settings from Curve to Torch using the Desktop Manager. I face the same memory leak issues in this new device as well. I have 3 email accounts configured on my device and some social networking applications which include facebook, twitter, and some messengers. I usually delete my emails and keep only a few useful mails for reference. Still I am facing this issue wherein I have to reboot my device to restore the application memory. It starts from 152 Mb and usually dropsdown to merely Kilobytes of memory. The phone freezes for around 1-2 minutes sometimes when I am on call, or accessing my contacts.
Also to let you know that I have a 8GB memory card on my phone which has around 1.6 GB free space. I have disabled Compression on my memory card as well.
Please advise as I am having a hard time using this time this way.

I have the almost same problem when i run the phone gap app on the 9800 torch OS 6 than this build of 1.2 MB takes the memory of 40 MB at run time and the device gives the low memory message and close the app forcefully.
In my app phone gap is using 3-4 html pages and java script .
And when i navigate on these pages it gives this message of memory low.
Please help me to out of this .
And please suggest if any professional help in this

  • BlackBerry Torch 9800 V.S. iPhone 4G: which is better for playing DVD/Video

Though BlackBerry continue to be extremely popular, it's no secret that RIM needed to step up its game and really work on improving and advancing its operating system. And over the past few months, the company has given us previews of a refreshed OS. The RIM BlackBerry Torch 9800 is the first device to ship running BlackBerry OS 6 and will be available starting August 12 for US$199.99 with a two-year contract. The slider phone--a first for RIM--brings together a touchscreen and physical keyboard into a solid, compact design. The new OS brings some much-needed and welcome additions, including a better browser, an enhanced multimedia experience, and improved user interface. Sure, in the grand scheme of things, none of this is new but at least it puts RIM back on track. So we thought it might be a good idea to compare BlackBerry Torch 9800 with the iPhone 4G to find out, which one is a better smartphone. In this article, we have compared some of the key features available on the new BlackBerry smartphone with Apple's iPhone 4G.

Which carrier did you use in India with the Blackberry 9800?? As Tmobile only work with GSM network.
Now you said you swtich from IPHONE back to the Blackberry 9800. Do you have a Blackberry DATA plan now on tmobile? No just the regular data plan. As regular data plan does not work with Blackberry.

  • HT1689 which ipad is good for Panama att or verizon

which ipad is good for Panama att or verizon ?

    AT&T by far.
GSM dominates the overall worldwide market by a significant margin.
Check AT&T's website for how many GSM network "partners" they have throughout the world compared to Verizon.
    Copied from AT&T's website.
Stay connected while traveling to more than 220 countries and on more than 140 cruise ships, and access email and the Internet in more than 195 countries.
I believe Verizon has 35 countries.

  • Blackberry Torch

Will Verizon offer the Blackberry Torch.  If so, when?

So the pictures are in device storage, not on media card? If that is the case, the answer, practically speaking, is that you need the device to turn on and boot up.
Try the following: Try your battery in a known good BlackBerry that uses the same type battery to see if your battery is functional. And try a known good battery in your device to see if your device will boot with a battery that you know is good.
Another troubleshooting step is to plug your device in on a wall charger, leave it for a couple of hours, then remove the battery and put it back all while the device is still plugged in. Do that and see if the device boots. If it doesn't, leave it another two hours. If it does boot, leave it for the battery to charge to. 100%.

  • WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER - BLACKBERRY TORCH 9800 ?

Okay TUNE IN RADIO just responded to my email.  This is the response:  "They use a windows media video stream, only audio streams are supported."
Can Windows Media Player be downloaded into the Blackberry Torch.  Can the Blackberry Torch handle Adobe Flash Player.
How are we able to see YOU TUBE videos and not other streams??
I am told by AT&T that I have a "computer" in my hand with my Blackberry, however, as I said earlier, I had gone in to purchase a completely different phone and was talked into this and Yes, I blame myself.  HOWEVER, what is Blackberry doing to compete with the other "smart phones?"

Regardless of how long it's been ongoing, those apps you're asking about are not available on the BlackBerry.

Any chance you can be a little bit more specific? What exactly do you attempt? What exactly happens when you attempt it? Are any error messages presented? If so, what is the exact and complete content of them?

  • Buying a Blackberry Torch 9810?

    Hi
I am seriously thinking about buying a Blackberry torch 9810 but I have a few questions before I do.
Can anyone tell me if Blackberry are developing a replacement for this phone. I want a proper key board and also a larger touch screen which enables me to see properly as I'm getting old now. It seems no other phone has these features.
The problem I have is that Orange do not supply this phone directly anymore and that means I can't get the signal boast software for this phone which they include if I get the phone from any other supplier.
If Blackberry are going to upgrade the phone in the next few months then I can wait and then get one then.

    http://ca.blackberry.com/smartphones/blackberrytorch/#!phone-specifications
(Sorry, I misread your reply; I thought you wanted specs on the 9810, which I've supplied.  Specs on the new BB 10 phones are sketchy at present.  It's very unlike any major manufacturer to release pre-release specs for a phone.  Anything you would have heard until now would be speculation at best.)
OS 7 phones from BlackBerry really are remarkable phones.  The Torch 9860 is the 5th BlackBerry phone I've owned and it's by far the best one yet.  You really can't go wrong with the new BlackBerry phones.
I hope I've helped you.  Please post back if you need more information.
