  • Responses to Abuse reports

    Hello-
         I'm not a verizon customer, but over the past several months I've encountered numerous attempts to break into my home system via ssh using brute force password guessing.  I've traced back the offending ip addresses in each case to be owned by verizon.  I've reported the abuse to verizon during each incident (using the [email protected] addres listed in the whois database), but heve not once ever received any feedback from that address.  Can someone from verizon please at least confirm receipt of these incident logs and confirm that some action is being taken against the offenders?

    Thats rather the problem though, I'm not a verizon customer, and so their customer support number just dumps me to the sales department, who doesn't have the foggiest on how to help me.  I'm recording malicious traffic from verizon owned ip addresses and their abuse contact point is a black hole, in that it is unresponsive, so where is a non customer who has a problem with verizon owned network addresses to go?

  • Reporting Abuse

    Hi Guys!
    Sometimes, when you are broswing the boards here you might come across a thread or post that you are not sure of. Sometimes, it could be a post you find offensive, or a post that is directly offensive to you. Sometimes you may come across a post that you feel contains illegal material or links to illegal material. If you do find a post like this you can report it as abuse.
    This may be a feature you have seen and used before, on Nokia Discussions UK you can report any post as abuse. By reporting a post as abuse, all of the moderators and administrators get notified at once (there are quite a few of us ).
    You can report a post as abuse by clicking on the options button. Here you will see an option called 'Report as abuse to Moderator'. By cliking on this a small window will open that gives you an opportunity to enter a message explaining why you are reporting this as abuse. To send the abuse notification, just click on the 'Notify Moderator' button. Dont worry that it only says Moderator, all the mods and admins will see the message at the same time. Also, reporting abuse is totally anonymous, no one other than the mods and admins will see your abuse report.
    Abuse can be many things, it can include:
    -Abuse directed at you
    -Abusive behaviour/language
    -Possible illegal content
    -Bullying
    Do not feel afraid of reporting abuse to us.
    However, on a lighter and more positive note - you can always praise the boards on the Ideas and Feedback board you can also leave any comments you have on abuse reporting there.

    as suggested above, you can contact your local police to report such users.  Then your local police can contact Skype to request information that may possible help them in their investigation.

  • The Report Abuse Function

    Has anyone else had trouble with the Report Abuse function?
    Recently I attempted to write an abuse report, but received an error message upon submission.
    How does one report abuse in this forum?

    Questions usually remain unanswered if no one knows the answer. It would appear that you are the only person who has felt it necessary to use the Report Abuse button in this forum. If that's the case, no one can verify whether there's a problem.
    Thank you for responding, but I disagree with your suggested solution to the problem:
    This question can be easily answered by anyone, who might be inclined to seek a moderator's support either now or in the future.  They have merely to
    1) Click on the appropriate button.
    2) Enter a brief test message.
    3) Verify whether it is sent.
    4) Report their finding to this discussion.
    I have now tried to send three messages using the Report Abuse function.  Two of them failed outright, and the only test message sent went through unacknowledged.
    Before I register a formal complaint with Adobe I would like to gather evidence to support my case.

    Is that what you are referring to or do you expect this also to hide public messages posted by these users (which is not what it is currently designed to do).
    If you should spot content on the community that is violating our Community Guidelines please use the "Report inappropriate content" link from the "Post Options" menu next to the message. These abuse reports will then be reviewed by our moderation team.

  • Abuse Button should have more options

    After some months in the productive environment I suggest that the abuse categories should get a makeover. Not sure about you, but I use "General abuse" 99% of the time. There should be additional categories such as
    Link farm
    Meaningless subject
    Plagiarisation
    Did not search
    Asking for documents
    Offering or asking for points
    ...etc. according to forum rules
    There should also be a neutral "Moderator info" category that does not count towards "five reports and thread is gone", e.g. for reporting that an otherwise appropriate question should be move to the correct forum.
    I suggested something similar in the following thread, but it went unnoticed, so I try again.

    From my experience of handling the Abuse Reports, it is always best to catch them as early as possible. In the Console where mods can check the reports for their respective forums, there is already a possibility to obtain a quick overview of them by checking the category and the comments and some filters - but generally it is necessary to go to the forum thread and take a look at all of it (not just the post being reported) and some of the related posts before taking action.
    I agree that extending the range of the report categories to include the SDN specific ones (the current ones seem more geared to chat rooms like alt.politics and alt.xxx... :-). I suspect that can be done quite easily, but don't know.
    What is often most usefull (also for prioritizing) is to add a short text to the comment field to explain the reason. That is the first thing I look for.

  • Would like to know why my question was rejected

    I've just had an email to tell me my question on the 'CRM Webclient UI - Framework' forum has been rejected. This is the first time I've had an entry rejected and I have not got the faintest idea what the reason could be. This was my post:
    Subject: modify the appearance of the view title bar
    Can anyone tell me how to change the appearance of the title bar on a view ? In our standard Inbox Search, the result list has a blue banner incorporating the title. i'd like to replicate something like that on my own view and would like to change the title of the view dynamically at runtime. I haven't been able to find out how this is done in our Inbox Search. Can anyone help please ? thanks, Malcolm.

    Malcolm,
    I am probably lazier than you, but in this case lazy referred to your actions and not you personally.  Your post did not show any indication that you had done any research before asking the question.  So in order to prevent future misunderstanding I'm going to explain to you how I came to this decision
    1)  I read all the threads in that forum on a daily basis via mail subscription.  I will then keep in my incoming scn folder, the threads I think need moderation or I want to answer on that day
    2)  I then go back and read each thread and evaluate what to do.  Sometimes it just needs moved, and in other cases the post was out of the general context and nothing needs to be done
    3)  For each thread I think has an issue, I decide what to do.  I generally go with my gut feel.  In your case the thread was a question asked several times before.  I only know this because I have been participating the Webclient UI forum since the days of CRM 2007 forum and been participating in the CRM forums since 2005.
    4)  I used to just "delete" the message, now I use the abuse console and abuse reports to send out the notification.  When I first started I would send every OP a personal message explaining what they did wrong.  I have streamlined this, because I rather have some spare time to answer questions than always play the role of enforcer.
    5)  When you came back with why it was rejected, I spent my time looking at whether I made the right call.  I went ahead and searched for the topic at hand and found it only 15 minutes.  I figured that you could have found in 30 minutes.
    The search was simple and not complicated.  Go into the CRM webclient UI forum.  Enter the word "title bar" into the search box and then take the search screen you see and adjust the search timeframe to "ALL" and then look at the results.  I then looked at the first two results, and didn't see an answer and then found an aswer talking about your topic in the third result from 2008.  I don't know why this entry was not in the CRM wiki, but I will put that as a todo for myself.
    Now that I have explained this process. I will continue in another response here, asking you about resources you used.

  • Printing Problem with SmartFrom

    I'm using smartform to print a certificate .. I have correctly populatedthe data and transferred it to smartform ..
    For a single print, the alignment of the data comes proper ..
    But when I give 10 to 20 prints, for first 3-4 pages alignment of text remains proper but then the alignment starts going downwards and hence data loss occurs as there is no place to print some texts ..
    So just wanted to know what can be the problem or what can be the solution ?? .. I have fixed rthe places of tex still they are going downwards after 3-4 continuous prints !!

    be careful with your title. "smart form", "sapscript", etc. are not good titles. Abuse reported.
    You should have titled "printing of smart form top margin is changing" or "starting at 4th page, printing of smart form is lower and lower on page" or something like that.
    Did you test by printing 10 copies of the same form. Does it occur too?

  • Problem uploading, can't work out why

    Since last night (that was when I noticed it at least) I have been unable to upload files under certain circumstances.
    The only change to my config that I am aware of was the 2007-004 update that I installed yesterday morning.
    I tried to upload a photo via my pixelpost installation to the web. It timed out after a fair few minutes. The file was approx. 200kb.
    I have tried sending email attachments (in Mail), both text and photos, again timing out. I tried using a webmail program and that did the same. Both times I tried the 200kb photo or a 36kb word doc.
    I have, however, been able to upload photos to Flickr, considerably larger files in fact.
    I have contacted my webhost and there is no problem with the server at his end, but using my webmail hosted at my university pretty much ruled out it being a problem with my web host and his servers.
    I did traceroute to my webspace just in case, and apart from one or two asterisks (that seem to change each time I re-trace) nothing seemed out of place. I pinged the target and noticed I'm getting approx. 15% packet loss with 40 pings. I have no idea what this means - I'm completely new to this.
    I'm loathe to call my isp before I've exhausted all mac-based possibilities - mainly because of the extortionate call-rates and their methods of fobbing people off at the earliest possibility. Of course, it will probably come to this, but I want to know there is nothing at my end that could be causing this.
    I apologise if I've left out important info or don't sound very clear - I'm pretty new to all this diagnostic stuff. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
