Blank Captivate HTML Video in RH11

RoboHelp HTML 11, Captivate 7, Internet Explorer 11, Adobe Flash Player 15.0.0
We have a number of videos, each published as a separate Captivate project in HTML5 format. We then imported them (specifically their "index.html" files) into RoboHelp.
When I output the files as Responsive HTML, the videos appear correctly except there is no Play/Stop/Info bar below it.
When we View the topics, or if we output them as WebHelp, the videos simply don't appear.  The Play/Stop/Info bar does appear below where the video should be. In fact, the progress bar shows that the video is running.  However, clicking the Info button shows that we're using Captivate 4, when we're actually using version 7.
Can either of these issues be fixed? Thanks.

Hi there
If it's SWF, it's going to have essentially four files in possible use. Maybe even more, depending on what was done in the project.
The SWF, an HTML page to present it, a file named Standard.js and a css file.
If it's HTML 5 or responsive, you will have a fairly nested folder structure involved. Look at the image below for a reference.

  • Update on Captivate HTML 5 content playback issue in Google Chrome Browser

    Good night,

  • How to use HTML Video for iPad in iWeb

I agree with all the advantages of HTML Video. How do you use html video on your iweb site?
I want my iWeb site video to be viewable on iPads.
I have learned the technique to use the HTML Snippet tool in iWeb to successfully post Flash video. I created all of my animations using Kenote's keyframe ability and have exported them to Quicktime and then have converted them into flash with Vertical Moon's Video to SWF. Then simply upload the SWF file to a folder on your idisk, then use the Flash Video insert HTML Snippet and insert the idisk url of the SWF file and you are done. What is the technique for HTML Video?
I have found some HTML video encoders, here are the links:
http://www.projekktor.com/ the technique is not clear to me and appears complicated.
http://www.brightcove.com/en/ this one is way too expensive at $99 a month.
http://jilion.com/sublime/video this one looks great but is not yet available and I am guessing it is a converter that will make your iMovie Quicktime into HTML Video.
I have all of the i-Apps and Final Cut Express (2 revs out of date). Can I get the proper HTML video file from these programs, unless I am missing something I don't think so.
Most people do not believe I made my site completely with Keynote and iWeb but here it is. http//www.falcon-pacific.com
Thank You Very Much for considering my question. I will put the results on my iWeb site and the exact procedure and acknowledge all the sources of the solution.

I want my iWeb site video to be viewable on iPads.
Your videos ARE viewable on a iPad. No need for explicit HTML video coding.
If you export your movies to iPhone that's all there is to do. You can do it in QT Pro/iMovie
And HTML Video is a HTML code, not the movie itself :
    <video width="480" height="270" src="movie.m4v" controls></video>
I use the iPad simulator in the SDK :

  • Using trial version of Dreamweaver CS6, Blank page, HTML onlly 2 layouts

My students are starting out using a trial version of Dreamweaver CS6, but only get 2 different layout options when selecting a Blank Page, HTML. Can they add additional layout options somehow? This is making it hard for them to complete the assignment. Is there some way to get all of the layouts to show up?
    Thanks, Eliot

The new DW CC only comes with two layouts - HTML5: two columns and HTML5 Three columns.  Apparently there is no need for more because these two layouts are all you need.  I don't use the CC version so I don't know anything else apart from this.
With two column layout, you can move the sidebar easily by floating it either left or to the right; So this makes it three layouts!!!!!.  It should also have something called Fluid Grid Layout that is used to create "responsive" websites for mobile devices.
Did you have any other layouts in mind?

  • Captivate 3: Video Screen Capture Captivate

I'm trying to capture a video on my computer screen using captivate 3 - does captivate 3 have this capability?  The drop-down box for "Audio" only have two options (Line in and Microphone). Also, when I click "Record" it seems that captivate is unable to test my audio levels.
I just got an update on my sound card, so there should be more selections in that drop-down box unless captivate 3 does not support it.
I know there are other video capture software out there, but I wanted to see if captivate would work.  Any help is greatly appreciate -- if you can provide links to tuturials that would be great too; I could not find any online for captivate 3 video capturing.

    Hi there
I'd be totally shocked if Captivate recorded the video for you and you came back to report things were just peachy.
The bottom line here is that Captivate does an awful job of capturing video that way. What results will be herky jerky hit and miss.
As for the audio capture, keep in mind that you are always able to add audio later. You might use something like FreeCorder toolbar to capture the audio.

  • Why can I not embed html video into a Muse slideshow widget?

I have an existing slideshow widget in place and when I upload html video (click on image in slideshow, object, insert html) it puts the video in a seperate box un-linked to the slideshow. I can get the video in with a composition widget, but I need to use a slideshow widget. Site is here:Main_Mltipages and the video needs to be added to the main slideshow.

    Hello,
You can not insert Embedded codes in Slideshow widgets.
If you want to replace images with embedded HTML video , please use Presentation Composition and place them in Target.
You can find it from Object > Insert Widget > Composition > Presentation

  • Captivate 4 video stops when publishing into pdf

I have created a video with Captivate 4 and have published it into a pdf file.
The video/audio then freezes and stops half way through, almost as if when it was moving onto a new slide.
I have tried publishing to html instead, and it works fine.
Any suggestions on how to get the pdf up and running?
    Thanks!

    Hi there
Not that it will actually help anything, but if you can supply me with one of the Camtasia AVI files, I'll be happy to test for you on my end. I do have Captivate 1, 2, 3 and 4 all on the same machine.
Also, I wasn't suggesting that Camtasia could automatically accomplish this. What I was suggesting was that you could open the video in Camtasia and use it as you would Captivate. You could split the video yourself. Pare away some, publish it as a smaller segment that you would drop into Captivate. Rinse and repeat as needed. Assuming, of course, that your goal is to get this into Captivate.

  • Captivate 6 video files not loading on share point 2013

    Hello,
I use Adobe Captivate 6 and have courses that I'm loading to a share point site for learners to access. I worked off of my C: drive, then copied the published folders on a shared drive. I then linked the html URL to play the course.
When the courses were built, some simulations were recorded in video mode. I noticed that in the published folder, Captivate creates mp4 files. For some reason, when the course plays on share point, it does not play these files and the course clocks until you advance to the next slide. Everything else works fine, no issues.
I'm looking to see if anyone else has encountered this same issue and am curious what was done to fix it.
    Thanks! Marissa

Thanks for the reply Ron! I checked with my share point admin and she said that share point 2013 (our version) can play mp4 files, so there shouldn't be an issue there.
She's not familiar with Captivate so it's kind of difficult getting to the root of the problem, but somewhere along the line, when the course link is accessed, Captivate is looking for that mp4 file to play it, and it cannot find the file.
I thought then maybe I would take the mp4 file in the published folder and try to embed the video directly into the course, but I haven't tried that.
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks, Marissa

  • Captivate 7 - Video Demo Function

Hi,  I am a brand new user to captivate and i am wanting to make use of the video demo option to record a training session on Microsoft Office Applications.  This requires me to record both the screens that i am using and my voice (using a headset).  I am currently fumbling around with this because i cannot seem to find any help material or tutorials on how to use it  - is there anything available?  Also, just one really simple question, how do i pause the demo and then re-start it?  I can currently only end the project using the End key.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi there,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums!
For detailed information on recording in Captivate you can launch the online help of Captivate : http://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/topics.html# then check the recording section.
If you are recording in Video Demo, then you cannot Pause the recording, Puase works in case of recording software simulation.
We can only record one screen at a time in Captivate, voice can be recorded during recording the screen.
To edit the recording Preferences, please go to Edit > Preferences > Recording.
However, after ending the video demo recording you can record additional slides (insert > video recording), after recording all the slides, you can edit the slides (Split, Pan and zoom, and Trim).
    Thanks.

  • Captivate 7 Video Demo using excessive bandwidth

When I create a video using the Video Demo mode, Captivate allows me to select bitrate settings.  Because we have very limited bandwidth at some of our locations, I tried selecting the lowest possible bitrate of 0.19 Mbps as the Target and Maximum bitrate.
I inserted the finished MP4 file as a Progressive video into a .cptx Captivate file.  I published the result as a flash file - basically using the flash file as a player for the MP4 file.  When I tested it at one of our locations, it did not download at the 0.19 speed, it consumed the entire bandwidth available.
What did I do wrong?  Am I missing the ability to transcode to a selected speed?  Is Captivate just encoding the MP4, but not transcoding it to control the bandwidth consumption?
This is way more than I know - I'm used to encoding a video and then uploading it to a service that transcodes it to the maximum bitrate of the encoded video.  However, I cannot use streaming video for this project.
Can anyone help me on this?

  • Publishing the swf file in Captivate 8: videos unable to load

This is my first time using Captivate. I am still using the free version of Captivate 8 from a Mac. I have created an online module for my college e-Learning course but, I can't get it to upload right anywhere! I am trying to upload the swf. file to Google Sites but the videos display a connection error message and never play. I have read everything I could online but nothing is working for me. I tried uploading a SCORM zip file to Coursesites and got an error message as well. I am not sure what I'm doing wrong...

I have not upgraded at this time, but I can if that will fix the issues I'm having with the published files.
To clarify, my project is NOT a responsive project. I'm just selecting HTML5 on the publish. And I am testing it locally, on our company server, and online. The drag and drop does not work in any instance of the index.html any of these locations.

  • HTML video works but not when publishing in MUSE

I threw this together without using MUSE - Just a test video that I made in Dreamweaver.  The reason why I'm posting this in MUSE as well as DW forum is because maybe I'm not doing the "5" code correctly.  anyway --:
    http://designerandpublisher.com/html5/video.html
the HTML5 video above plays great on my desktop as well as on my mobile device.
So now, I opened up MUSE and made a test phone web page.  I embedded the necessary HTML5 code.  The video plays fine on my desktop but will not play at all on my mobile device (Galaxy Note ii).  It seems to start, then freezes, then craps out.  Here it is:
    http://designerandpublisher.com/hawaii/mobile/
What I can't understand is why am I am all of a sudden having problems with MUSE playing video files made for mobile when the original DW test I made works perfectly?
    Please advise.

the OGV and WEBM files work fine in the first test.  those files are also present in the 2nd test, so why isn't the 2nd playing like like the first one?  as for the FLV that's something i can do for mozilla but my main concern is the playback issue with the MUSE test - all works fine in the first example but not in the second.

  • Using Captivate 5 videos won't load

I am publishing to the Flash format using Captivate 5.5. I've tried publishing with and without the skin, and either way, the videos won't load when I try to open them with a link to the website where they are posted. They do open if I double-click on the htm in a network file folder.  I do not have this problem with older Captivate videos I created with Captivate 3. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why they won't open?

I found the answer to why my movie wouldn't play after publising.
Some smart user named nsukumar stated that if you used text animations it causes problems.
Sure enough, when I removed the text animation the finished results worked perfectly!
Thank you nsukumar where ever you are!
