Block users from Home Hub 3 wi-fi without them kno...

Is there any way on the homehub 3 to block users on the wifi without it giving them a notification?
When you use the parental lock down between certain times when the user opens a web page it says they've been locked down by the hub but I don't want them to get this notification just to be completly disconnected?

No, you cannot do that with the home hub 3.

  • Blocking users from syncing calendars and contacts from itunes

Is there a way to block users from syncing the corporate GAL and their Outlook calendars from their company computer?

Thanks for the answer Simon. That seems simple enough but there are some things which aren't clear.
If I create accounts on the server for the users independently (ie not ownership of the home folder) they're going to have different UID's. Surely this means that even with the same account name and password, they're going to be treated as unique users. Does that not affect who has write access? I don't know how the Calendar and Contact servers work so this may be irrelevant.
How do you "have the server host their calendar and contact details"? Copying the files for the existing local users to the new users on the server will leave them with invalid permissions.
I have read that using the Calendar and Contact components of Server.app is not a supported way of syncing across machines and that they're intended to be used for shared information rather than syncing. But maybe there is no way to avoid an "unsupported method" without moving the home folder. Is this a method you're using?
I'll do a bit of testing with this but would also be grateful for any additional hints.

  • How to Block user from Sending IM or Hide Presence of there user who is not in his department

    Hi All,
How to Block user from Sending IM or Hide Presence of there user who is not in his department.
    Thank you

    Hi Jp,
    Method 1:
You can use the Enhanced Privacy Mode in Lync 2013
    <section class="ocpSection">
    Enable Privacy Mode
By default, everyone except Blocked Contacts can see your presence status. To modify the privacy settings, you can do the following:
In the Lync main window, click the Options button.
In the Lync - Options dialog box, click Status, and then do one of the following:
Click I want everyone to be able to see my presence regardless of system settings (override default settings).
Click I want the system administrator to decide - currently everyone can see my presence but this could change in the future.
    </section>
    About Enhanced Privacy Mode
If your organization has enabled Enhanced Privacy Mode in Lync, you can choose whether to limit visibility of your presence information to only those people you’ve added to your Contacts list. You do that by selecting one of the following on the
    Options->Status window:
I want everyone to be able to see my presence
I only want people in my Contacts list to see my presence
    Method 2:
Using Privacy Relationship, you can block a particular user by adding him to blocked contacts

how to block user from saving certain files like Avi,mP3 , ... to their computers by GPO ?
    it is possible?

I do not think that you can go that by GPOs. However, this is feasible on File servers: http://www.petri.co.il/forums/showthread.php?t=45225
You might think about creating scheduled tasks that will run periodically and remove files with these extensions from the user profiles (...).

  • Block users from downloading from internet

I'm curious as to what everyone is using to block users from downloading certain file types (.exe, msi, zip, bat, etc) from the internet? We had websense, now barracuda for a web filter but have major issues with filtering downloads from the internet. The main issues is filtering SSL sites.

    Hello,
The WSA has a feature called Object Filtering which allows admin's to configure access policy parameters to block certain file types from being downloaded through the WSA. To apply the same settings to HTTPS requests the WSA would need to decrypt the request.
    I Hope this helps.

  • Block users from retrieving during manual calculation

    Hi Everyone,
I am wondering if anyone knows how to block users from retrieving or pulling in Essbase while a calculation is running manually in EAS. We have a currency conversion calculation that manipulates the data for several minutes. Users who pull the data see erroneous data for some time and it becomes an issue.
    Thanks,
    Mark

You would have to log them out, then disable connects while you run your script. You could execute maxl commands from EAS.

  • Blocking Users from Commenting

Is there a way to block users from posting comments on a blog? We have generic accounts for a labs and our students have figured out that they can login using the generic account and post a comment. Then another user can login sing the same generic account and read the comment even if it is not been moderated. They are using it like a chat system.
Simply put can we create a "blacklist" of users for the service which would prevent the students from posting as a user. They would still post as anonymous users.

    Hi Vittal,
use the user-exit described in note: 808971 (RSWUWFML2).
If you had several users changing dynamically I would create a z_ table for those users and select all in the exit.
The other way would be to allocate to the users a dummy email adress...but this is surely not so great.

  • Block users from downloading as streamed movie

    Hi there,
How do I block the ability to "save as source/quicktime movie" a streamed movie?
I have searched high and low on the net and found a technical note mentioning something about setting a nsav bit. But this seems a bit technical and im sure, as this is an Apple product, there is someeasy way to do this.
So step on up and show me the button if have overlooked. If there is no button. Any info is appreciated.
    --Nis.

Here is part of an article I found on the web. I think it may be what you are looking for. At the very end I have also included a link to the whole article.
--- Begin article clip below ---
    2. How to save a QuickTime movie (in some cases) even if the movie does not allow saving
There are a couple of ways in which a movie can be protected from copying. First, if the movie is embeded in a web page, the author can set KIOSKMODE=True in the EMBED tag. If QuickTime plug-in sees this setting, it will disable the save options, even if QuickTime Pro is installed. However, in such cases one can view the source of the web page (as described above) and use the browser's "Save as…" function to save the movie.
However, some movies are saved in such a way that even if you manage to save the movie to you hard drive, if you then make any changes to the movie, QuickTime Player will not allow you to save the edited movie. An error message will appear that reads: "This movie does not allow saving."
Video editing programs like Cleaner allow authors to save movies in such a way that further changes to the movie are disallowed. When the author saves the movie, he simply enables the "disallow saving" check box. Some filmmakers chose to do this to prevent others from altering their work. Others chose this option to discourage users from making local copies of movies viewed online.
There are many reasons why an author might wish to control the use of his work in this way, but there are also valid Fair Use rights that must be weighed against such controls. There are practical reasons that it may be necessary to alter a movie. For example, some QuickTime movies that contain multiple tracks in addition to the video and audio track do not play smoothly on older computers because of the added computing power required to process the additional tracks. With the extra tracks removed, such movies play more smoothly. As an added benefit, they also occupy less space on disk.
A good example of this is the movie trailer for The Two Towers. The full screen version of this movie trailer, entitled (TheTwoTowers_fs.l.mov) contains eight different tracks. If you download the movie to you hard disk and open it in the QuickTime Player, you can see the list of tracks by choosing "Show movie properties" from the Movie menu. This particular file includes a border on the top and bottom, splash screens for the beginning and end of the movie, and other tracks ("sprite" and "tween" tracks for a fade-in/out effect, a customized progress bar and customized start and exit controls).
QuickTime requires extra CPU cycles to display these tracks. On slower machines, this can often make the difference between a good viewing experience and a bad one. The only two tracks that are essential for this particular movie are the video and audio tracks. Deleting the other six tracks makes the movie play much more smoothly ("Delete Tracks…" in the Edit menu).
The slimmed-down version of the movie still contains the full 640x272 resolution video, and plays much more smoothly on older machines. Unfortunately, because the creator of this movie turned on the "disallow saving" option, it is not possible to save the movie after deleting these six tracks.
The "disallow saving" option is stored as a flag in the QuickTime movie file itself. The QuickTime player honors this flag and disables options like saving and copying when a movie file with this option enabled is open. It should be obvoious that for such movies, it makes no difference whether QuickTime Pro is installed - it will not be possible to use QuickTime Player to save them.
The best way to circumvent this problem would be to determine the structure of the disallow saving flag. Once the flag's structure is known, it would be possible to write a program to change the value of the flag in a QuickTime movie. I am not aware of any program that will perform this function. Until such a program is available, it will not be possible to save a movie with the disallow saving flag enabled.
If you're only interested in viewing the video an audio content of a QuickTime movie, see the topic on VideoLAN Client, below.

  • Blocking User from accessing wrong customer code in VA01

    Hi SAP SD GURU,
my finance user uses rebate recipent in sales order creation for rebate settlement.
my operation user uses one-time customer code in sales order for sales.
Both type of customer codes can be used in sales order creation under different order type.
The problem arises when operation staff uses rebate recipent code to create sales order and then billing.
My finance User want this to stop.
How can I block the operation User from continuing the sales entry when they select the rebate recipent in a sales order entry?
Is there any available setting in the customer master that allow me to do so?
Is there any setting in the SPRO that can control this?

    Hi Colin,
Well you need to control these through the user profile & roles
you can do this in SU01 which a Basis person can help you out with .....
now as said User X wants authorisation to va01  ( Rebate)
User Y wants Authorisation to va01 ( One time)
since here we are not restricting any user for VA01 auth , the Basis person can define the role only till the transaction level not beyond that in standard SAP transaction and here you want to restrict user to not use different customer code
as per my knowledge i dont think that is possible but still have a check with the Basis team
    Hope this helps
    Cheers

  • Devices Missing from Home Hub 2 List

I have seen many entries on various forums about people connecting device and not seeing them on the network list.
I had this problem and went through all the suggestions and finally did a reset to factory defaults. This cured the problem temporarily but it returned the following day.
After lots of analysis it seems that the HH2 can only display 10 devices at any one time, so when I added the 11th device to my network – it does not seem to matter weather its wireless or not, it is not in the list – delete an existing entry and refresh and the new device appears.
Is this normal behaviour or is my HH2 faulty?

    marcelaj1 wrote:
I know they are connected as I first noticed the issue when the P.C. I was logged onto interface with was not in the list.
From what you are saying this is normal for these things.
Its much the same on the home hub 1. Sometimes devices do not show as connected, even though they exist in the main device list. I get the impression that the web display only updates if the device has been active for a while.
There is nothing in the firmware to trigger anything, when a device status changes.
If I log into the telnet interface on the HH1, and use the command "hostmgr list", the device is shown on the list.
Telnet is not available on the HH2.
I would not rely too much on the device list. If you really want to see if a device is present, then simply "ping" it.
I actually use static addresses on my network, as it makes it easier to detect if a device is active.

  • Chirping noise from Home Hub 3!

Sorry about the rather vague subject title, but since a reboot early this morning (following a local BT exchange problem yesterday) my new Home Hub 3 keep making small 'chirruping' noises!
A bit like the sound Nokia mobile phones make when their batteries are getting low, but quieter than that... I probably only hear it because it is about a metre or so away from me!
I have certainly never heard it before, and wondered anything to be concerned about, or is it some sort of resynchronisation procedure perhaps?
Has anyone else noticed anything similar?

    Montala wrote:
    Hi,
Sorry for not having replied on here before,
Had a chuckle at some of the comments, but things seem to have quietened down a bit now, so perhaps the baby birds have finally flown the nest!
My Home Hub seems to be working well at present anyway, so all I want now is for BT to lay about 3 miles of fibre optic cable from our nearest exchange to the cabinet immediately outside my house, and I shall be a very happy bunny!
    Hi Montala,
Glad you took it in good heart, but you can see we couldn't miss the oportunity.
