Blue Hyperlinks... no!

Well, in the JEditorPane when setting a page url it always displays the links blue even though the page includes html code to display them in another color.
How do you get rid of the blue crap?

When setting the page in the editor pane.
Example:
try {
                              thePane.setPage(theFile.toURL());
                         catch (Exception ex) {
                              System.out.println("" + ex);
}Even if "theFile" contains html codes to display links in some color, when it is displayed in the editor pane it will always be blue.

  • How do I set the default colour of hyperlinks to blue?

    Hi,
In Pages 5.2.2, I've noticed that my new hyperlinks for web pages and email addresses are black.
Apart from changing them to blue for each individual link, is there a way to make blue the default color?
    Thanks,
    Richard

Select the word that is linked. Press Command+T to launch the Font Tool. The left drop-down button on that toolbar is for underlined text. Choose color from this menu. Pick your hyperlink color, and it will change in your document.
Now, while the hyperlinked word with its new color is still selected, you can update the existing Link character style, or press + to create a new one from your selected text. Change the name to Blue Link, press return, and you are done. The next time you need a blue hyperlink after you have added one, select the hyperlinked word, and choose the Blue Link character style. Also useful, if you just want a blue underlined word that is not a hyperlink.
To make the hyperlink color default to blue, you will have to create a template that has the Character Style Link changed to blue. There is no setting you can change otherwise.

  • Microsoft Access Reports to PDF - preserving hyperlinks

Can someone help me figure out how to preserve hyperlinks from an Access report? I've built an application that stores project information along with embedded hyperlinks to source files on our shared server. Although I've been successful with preserving links in Word documents when converting to PDF, when I try to print or convert from the Access report, the links are no longer active in the PDF (although they show up as the familiar blue hyperlink text.)
    Thanks,
    Jeff

Generally you would use the create PDF icon (what is called PDF Maker) on the toolbar. You can set the properties in the Acrobat (or Adobe PDF, depending on versions) menu on the Access menu bar. PDF Maker allows for adding links and such to the PDF. If you print to the Adobe PDF printer, you will simply get something that looks identical, but will have no bookmarks, links, or related items. Basically PDF Maker is a preprocessor for the printer that adds PDF Marks that are required for creating the links from ACCESS. Otherwise, the links that you see in the PDF are the best guess of Acrobat or Reader when it sees what appears to be a URL.

  • How to turn off hyperlinking of hostnames in Snow Leopard Mail

I think this started after the 10.6.1 upgrade, but Mail is now transforming anything that looks like a hostname into a blue hyperlink. I realize this is probably a problem for very few people, but for me, who receives a lot of email containing syslog output, it's highly irritating. The hyperlinks are extremely distracting when trying to quickly scan through a bunch of syslogs.
I don't know if this is due to a change in Mail, or in the URL handling framework. Does anyone know of a way to turn this off?

  • White background, blue and black text only

Had the same problem several weeks ago and it went away when I re-set the proxy setting. Problem now resurfaced.
First bit - 'untrusted site' keeps popping up. Got one for Google . / Firefox help. Can now only use Chrome to get to Firefox help (thus I'm unable to provide the 'troubleshooting info')
Then I get to a site - e.g. Mozilla Support and the background is white and the only text is black or blue hyperlinks.
I have: - Reset / reloaded Firefox, deleted the 'cert8.db' file. The clock is fine.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you,

Looks that you are blocking CSS files.
You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

  • Breaking Hyperlinks in mail

When I place a long hyperlink in an e-mail message it "breaks" when received by the recipient thought it looks perfect when I send it. For instance:
It looks like this when I place a hyperlink in an e-mail message:
    http://discussions.apple.com/post!default.jspa?forumID=960
When received by the recipient it looks like this:
    http://discussions.apple.com/post!
    default.jspa?forumID=960
Only the first line is a "blue hyperlink" so the result is that by clicking on the link the don't get anywhere. This happens ALL THE TIME no matter who the recipient is and it only happens with longer links.
The frustration is I have to put a disclaimer explaining that this can happen and to "please copy and past the whole link in your browser, ..."
I received a reply as follows from .mac help:
Quote -I understand that when you include a web address in messages that you send, the link is often broken when it is received by the recipient.
The reason this is happening is because most email clients see a web address as one long word and break the URL into a second line. Because of this, only part of the address appears as a link which may be clicked on. - end Quote
They suggested I call Apple Care, which I did. Apple Care basically explained that this is a glitch and that MAIL will always automatically break long links/words after around 60 or so characters.
So the answer from Apple is there is nothing to be done about it. The guy I spoke with said this was the first he has heard of the problem so I am questioning his (lack of ) answer and seeking a second opinion, YOU!
Am I the only one who is having this problem?
I tried the option of turning a couple words (like "click here") into the hyperlink (open mail, then "new message", "Edit", "Add Hyperlink". etc and the hyperlink looks perfect to me but again, after being received there is no hyperlink, just two black words "click here" that don't take you anywhere.
    Any ideas?

It's all non-MAC using recipients, using every type of email viewer.
Your comment "If the receiver is seeing messages in plain text, that's probably the way it works...." Brings up the point that I'm SENDING in plain text (at the suggestion of Apple Care).
I did a couple of tests just now to my friend, a PC user. Sent long links in plain and rich text and guess what? They break in plain text but are intact in rich text. Same goes for the second part of my question regarding turning words like "click here" into a hyperlink. Does not work in plain text but it works just fine in rich text.
    Genius Kenichi Watanabe!
I brought up the topic of plain vs rich text with the Apple Care guy when addressing this issue. He knew I was using Plain text, I even asked if that had anything to do with it!?!?! Frustrating!
Still a bit confused about Plain vs Rich. This article helped a bit:

  • Blue Arrow on linked objects

Is there a way to remove the blue arrows that appear on objects I've created as hyperlinks? I created my own navigation menu and have some jpeg images that are all hyperlinks to other pages on my iweb website, but I don't want those little arrows in the blue circles to be on them - they cover part of my self-made naviagtion menu.
Or do those little arrows only appear while you're building the site and then disappear when you publish it?
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

You guessed right — once you've published your site and view it in a web browser, those little blue hyperlink icons will not be visible.

  • Hyperlink woes?

So in the footer of my document, I want to have the URL of the website for my class. The text therefore looks like a URL. It is "http://www.svhsvp.org/"
I don't want this to actually be a hyperlink since I just want to print this document. I also want to make the text slightly gray so it doesn't take that much attention. But Pages insists on making it a blue hyperlink no matter what. When I select it and go to the Hyperlink pane and disable it, it goes away, but as soon as I click to another part of my document, Pages automatically re-enables it!
    What should I do?

Try Preferences > Auto-Correction > "Automatically detect email and web addresses".
Seems to work fine here. No link indication; can change text color, etc.

  • Droid 2 Global Text Hyperlink??

Hello all,As I was texting today I accidentally created a blue live Hyperlink in my message??Now that I know this is possible I cannot seem to re-create this action?? I have tried everything I can think of like typing www. or http, or just typing anything.com or .net,which is how it seemed to happen when I did it the 1st time it worked??  the link i created was a mistake i was typing the term  "Figures as in it figures....so it was like this   Figures then i ended with a period and was writing the next part which was to begin with im ... and what came up was a live blue hyperlink that said  "Fugures.im"     ???   So can anyone tell me how I did this and how to insert hyperlinks at will in a text message?? I cant find any info on how to do this but it is definitely possible!!   Thank you!!

Hi! Welcome to the community forum!
To answer your question, I tried to create a hyperlink on my text messaging on the Android device.  It did not create the hyperlink until I sent it and it showed in the conversation thread.  Please try to type out a hyperlink like you normally would, like www.google.com, then hit SEND.  This should then create the hyperlink.
    Hope this helps!

  • Blue-Unformatted search results

I've asked this question before, but hope that maybe someone has some new ideas/thoughts on the subject for me.
All WebHelp Pro projects that me or any other tech writer publish to the RH 8 Server (using RH 8) have one thing in common...
the search results are small, NEVER formatted, and appear in bright hyperlink-blue. If we were to publish them as regular WebHelp to our local machines the search results appear nicely formatted, in larger white font. The bright blue hyperlinks are near unreadable and we cannot find any solutions for our issue. Any help would be much appreciated. Any server settings that would cause this to happen??

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
    Thank you.

    Hi Alex,
The trick to this whole thing is to scroll to the bottom of the message. There should be a dashed line at the bottom of the email message with text underneath it that says, "This message was downloaded as plain text." Underneath that it should say (in blue hyperlink text) "Download full message". Select that hyperlink, and the Excel file should download completely. You should then be able to select the document and have it open correctly.
I have had the same concern regardless of file format that is sent, so I do not believe your issue is with file format. Hope this helps.
I've seen the same thing happen with images, which it displays in a corrupted form. It's fixed by downloading the full message.
There's a more serious side effect of this, which I've now seen with several types of files. If one FORWARDS the email to someone else, the attached files it sends them are CORRUPTED and unopenable too. In the case of a Word files I looked at, it had dropped the last two bytes of the file.
The workaround for that is to download the full message before forwarding.
I'm seeing this happening with so many types of attachments that I'm assuming it affects them all. Please everyone report this to Apple feedback (http://www.apple.com/feedback/). It's one thing not being able to open a file on your device, it's another to have files corrupted permanently just by forwarding.

I want to add a link to an external page on the navigation bar, but when I right click or use inspector nothing looks useful. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Open the Inspector and then click on Hyperlink to create any link to an internal or external page. It is the second from the end and has the blue hyperlink symbol and yes, take time to look at what is in the Inspector - they are all 'useful' at some time!!
