I have been trying to print a pdf document using 11. PC is running windows 7, I have uninstalled and reinstalled acrobat 11, printer canon mg2520, and all adobe products. Yet when I try to print it keeps trying to print using the lexmark 4200 printer which is no longer installed. Anyone got a fix???

According to this, i suspect that something is wrong with consolekit, are you using gdm? If not, check this http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Net … er_0.7#KDE
If everything else fails, hack this file it's under /etc/dbus-1/system.d/bluetooth.conf

Booting problems with systemd, lvm, linux-ck-corex
Hi everyone,
since Friday I got some complications while booting my system.
I use systemd, pulseaudio, bluez, network-manger, gnome and gdm as login manager.
Every partition (root, home) without the boot and crypted swap partition is within a lvm volume group.
Xserver with gdm starts but the login mask does not appear. (only the background, mousepointer, topbar with clock, energy etc. are shown)
Switching to the getty2 works, but after typing username and password, nothing happens.
Only some messages from systemd are poping up, saying it couldn't mount my home partition (timeout).
That explains why I couldn't login.
Shutting down the system via the powerkey works.
Starting via a system rescue disk, mounting everything (including my home partition) and chrooting works fine.
Journalctl shows that there are more problems.
The network-manager times out.
Gnome-shell with consolekit-daemon and Pulseaudio fails to communicate with bluez over the dbus.

If you're using an initrd, you may not have the appropriate modules installed. If you're not using an initrd, then the kernel probably needs LVM support compiled in (not as a module) and could be solved by fixing that. I have never used the ck-patchset, but this should give you an additional data point.
Also comment=systemd.automount will be deprecated soon as I understand it; if you have a need for automounting, x-systemd.automount should be used instead. -

Gnome 3.2 - Bluetooth - Magic Trackpad autoconnect problem
Hi everyone!
I recently bought an Apple Magic Trackpad and still am trying to get it working properly. Here is the thing. First of all: once it is working it does its job until I reboot. The functionality persists over suspending for several days.
But as soon as I have got to do a reboot everything is hard to get in place. At first I had problems connecting my trackpad at all after a reboot via blueman. Sometimes the whole machine would freeze after trying to connect my trackpad with my dongle. Often I have got to plug it out and back in to get it working several times and some wild clicking in blueman to connect to the input-service of the trackpad.
Now I found out something rather strange. When I keep the dongle out of my machine while booting and until I have my keyring unlocked and the plug it in, the trackpad connects within a second and everything is workin flawlessly. So what is the deal over here? Is there any way I can make my machine use the dongle right from start without having got to plug the dongle in and out at every weekly reboot?
I already tried the hints in the wiki for auto-connecting a device but this rendered my trackpad useless and the pc wasn't connecting at all.
Thanks in advance for any advice!Mm, I suppose it could be. I'm using

on this machine (lspci -v from my linux mint installation running gnome 2.*). it didn't have a problem with the open source drivers on gnome 3.0, nor fglrx on gnome 2.* and kde4 works great to. strange ...
i'll try out some stuff from testing.

I have been using Arch for a few years but I recently had to put Ubuntu on one of my computers because I bought some bluetooth speakers or headset as it is more commonly recognized by software. I googled around and found that I need to put 'Enable=Socket' in /etc/bluetooth/audio.conf. This gets me closer and allows me to pair, but the speakers never show up as an audio output in pavucontrol. Somehow this works in Ubuntu. If it works in Ubuntu, it has to be able to work in Arch. In blueman I right click and press audio sync and it tells me a failure message that i can't remember cuz i'm at work. If there are any logs that would be useful, let me know and i will post them. dmesg does not show anything useful. Any help is appreciated.
Hi, I have a set of Sony DR-BT21G headphones. It came with a bluetooth dongle which fits to the dock connector, which I no longer need to use since 3.0.
I find that just using the headphones the sound is great at first but after a using it for a while and say pausing playback and then restarting it the sound will splutter and break. Sometimes it will resume playback in silence.
Been using the 3.0 software since beta2 and it was doing the same even then. I hoped it would be fixed on the final release but this is not the case.
Anyone else having the same problem? -
How to set default browser in blueman?
Hi all,
I've managed to get my bluetooth phone working with blueman ok but when I try to browse a device I get:
Failed to launch "nautilus"
[Errno 2] No such file or directory
You can enter an alternate browser in service settings
I haven't been able to find any worthwhile reference to what the third line means - and not for want of trying. The blueman install only seems to provide ~/.config/blueman/bueman.conf - which is a binary. In fact, `file blueman.conf` returns "8086 relocatable (Microsoft)" which is something I've never come across before.
Does anyone know a solution to this? The Arch wiki describes blueman as "a full featured Bluetooth manager written in GTK and, as such, is recommended for GNOME or Xfce". It doesn't then follow on with "...but only if you install nautilus and a range of other unrelated crap including the whole Gnome Desktop".
Ideally I'd like the blueman browse function to lauch thunar (as would most people who run an Xfce desktop). If anyone could give me any ideas on this I'll be mightily grateful.

(Who's been with Arch for one week now - something of a seat-of-your-pants experience, but no less wonderful for that)Many thanks guys for both of your replies.
Yes, it seems the basic problem is lack of obex support in anything other than nautilus.
There's a little on the subject here too:
http://thunar.xfce.org/pwiki/documentat … -obex-send
I also have a need for reliable mobile broadband connectivity via a Huawei USB dongle, so in the short term I've gone back to the outsized Gnome + networkmanager. I'll tinker with Xfce on a separate small partition to see if I can get as I want it.
Arch, though, is brilliant. And this is a friendly, knowledgeable community. I'm having great fun! -
Bluetooth : Blueman dbus error
Hello dear archers,
I am facing a problem trying to setup bluetooth at my desktop pc. It is a USB Bluetooth donge.
I followed http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bluetooth but i cannot launch blueman-manager.
I get the following error :
Connection to BlueZ failed
Bluez daemon is not running, blueman-manager cannot continue.
Further in the wiki i tried
[razor@RAZPC-LIN ~]$ hcitool scan
Scanning ...
00:25:BC:65:D3:75 anna petraki's iMac
00:22:98:1E:E1:C7 1 mouni stin axladia
So the bluetooth device is actually working. Then i tried using the bluez-simple-agent:
dbus.exceptions.DBusException: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.bluez was not provided by any .service files
I have installed all the python packages for bluetooth ( dbus-python pygobject python-pybluez )
Do you have any idea what is going wrong?oh yes, sorry forgot to mention, both of them are started. here is my /etc/conf.d/bluetooth
[razor@RAZPC-LIN ~]$ cat /etc/conf.d/bluetooth
# Bluetooth configuraton file
# Bluetooth services (allowed values are "true" and "false")
# Run the bluetoothd daemon (default: true)
#DAEMON_ENABLE="false"
# Run hid2hci (default: false)

# Run the sdp daemon (default: false)
# If this is disabled, hcid's internal sdp daemon will be used

RFCOMM_CONFIG="/etc/bluetooth/rfcomm.conf"
# Options for hidd, dund and pand (default: none)

#PAND_OPTIONS=""
HAL and other services like Avahi which require dbus work as expected. Does this .service file lie anywhere so i can check if it exists or it is created dynamically uppon bluetooth daemon startup?
Thanks for your reply. -
I have the z-10 and I don't updated my software yet, my battery has been losing power at a very fast rate. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Any tips on how to conserve battery power?

The first thing to do is check for OS updates and install it.
Also read this... How can I extend battery life?
And... Battery Saving Mode is coming soon on OS 10.3.1

Strange bluetooth problem dell inspiron 1545 laptop
Hello friends, I've got a full working install of arch on my dell inspiron 1545 laptop. At first, bluetooth was working with the blueman-applet. After an upgrade to bluez(i suppose), it suddenly stopped working. The laptop bluetooth is on, the device is discoverable, it even successfully recognizes the phone I'm trying to pair. But earlier, it was showing the phones name but now it only shows the mac address in blueman and in "hcitool scan" output, it shows:

Network Manager, Blueman
Hi,
I've just started using Arch Linux and I've been able to work through most problems I've encountered up until I came across this one.
I'm trying to connect my phone by bluetooth and then access my phones' internet connection. I am using blueman to connect the phone, and this seems to work ok, I right click my phone in the device window and select network access point or one of the serial ports and they report being successful and the connection starts up on my phone.
I try to ping 209.85.229.106 (google.com) and the terminal says Network is unreachable.
I am using Networkmanager too and I've tried adding a Mobile Broadband connection (GSM) using my providers APN settings but this connection does not show up when I left click to connect to a network.
Any assistance would be gratefully received. I have tried many Wikis and HowTos.

According to this:
http://live.gnome.org/NetworkManager/MobileBroadband
NetworkManager won't support bluetooth DUN until 0.8.1. It says 'late 2009' so I guess it can't be long now.

There's a few things here, one is you probably need ck-launch, since pulseaudio depends on consolekit running.
Secondly, padevchooser is deprecated (read, avoid under all circumstances) upstream. Use pavucontrol instead. -
I am trying to implement some kind of a server listening for requests. The listener part of the app, is a daemon thread that listens for connections and instantiates a handling daemon thread once it gets some. However, my problem is that i must be able to kill the listening thread at the user's will (say via a sto button). I have done this via the Sun's proposed way, by testing a boolean flag in the loop, which is set to false when i wish to kill the thread. The problem with this thing is the following...
Once the thread starts excecuting, it will test the flag, find it true and enter the loop. At some point it will LOCK on the server socket waiting for connection. Unless some client actually connects, it will keep on listening indefinatelly whithought ever bothering to check for the flag again (no matter how many times you set the damn thing to false).
My question is this: Is there any real, non-theoretical, applied way to stop thread in java safely?
Thank you in advance,
LeftyThis was one solution from the socket programming forum, have you tried this??
public Thread MyThread extends Thread{
boolean active = true;
public void run(){
ss.setSoTimeout(90);
while (active){
try{
serverSocket = ss.accept();
catch (SocketTimeoutException ste){
// do nothing
// interrupt thread
public void deactivate(){
active = false;
// you gotta sleep for a time longer than the
// accept() timeout to make sure that timeout is finished.
try{
sleep(91);
}catch (InterruptedException ie){
interrupt();

}You can also try to provide a greater Priority to your player thread so that it gains the CPU time when ever it needs it and don't harm the playback.
However a loop in a Thread and that to an infinite loop is one kind of very bad programming, 'cuz the loop eats up most of your CPU time which in turn adds up more delays of the execution of other tasks (just as in your case it is the playback). By witting codes bit efficiently and planning out the architectural execution flow of the app before start writing the code helps solve these kind of issues.
You can go through [this simple tutorial|http://oreilly.com/catalog/expjava/excerpt/index.html] about Basics of Java and Threads to know more about threads.

N.B. And yes there are more articles and tutorials available but much of them targets the Java SE / EE, but if you want to read them here is [another great one straight from SUN|http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/essential/concurrency/index.html] .
