BO Edge R3 Infoview AD login?

Hey guys,
I have AD autentication setup in Edge R3 and I can log into the CMC fine. When I open up the infoview page I don't have a drop down to choose Active Directory? Am I missing something here. R2 had the drop down so you could pick enterprise or AD. Even the R3 CMC has it. Any idea why the infoview login is not giving me the option?

Hi Adam,
Until XI 3.0 we have always had the options to select false but the default was always true.
I haven't found an explanation as to why it was hidden in XI 3.x and I don';t think it would be very hard to escalate an issue to our product group explaining that this is causing problems. If you open a message with support you can always ask to get this escalated if its causing problems. We have created KB/notes on it as well from the SMP portal search for authentication.visible. You may want to escalate this for the system.visible option as well.
I think there are 2 ways of looking at this .
call generator - customers that wish to change CMS or authentication options have to do an extra (probably not documented as well as it could be) step
call generator 2 - customers login with the wrong auth type or CMS by accident (when they are visible by default)
Apparently a decision was made that #2 is more problematic. I don't agree (but that's just one engineers optinion)...

InfoView needs login information when dynamic parameters are included

Hi,
we've got a Crystal Reports Server 2008 and everything worked fine in the past, but then we had to reinstall the server and now we've got the following problem:
Although we saved the Login information of the report on the server, InfoView asks the user again when you he wants to open the report. But this only happens when the report has a dynamical parameter.
We really tried alot of things but we didn't find a solution and i'm very sure every setting is the same like before the new installation.
Do you have any idea how we can fix this problem?
Database connection is ODBC, but the settings of the connection wasn't changed and the reports are still the same, too. I think it has to be a problem of the server. When we create a new report everything works fine and the login informations are saved but as soon as we include a dynamical parameter, infoview wants the login information again. Btw: We're using Tomcat.

I'm sorry, but yes, parameter means prompt.
When I try Infoview I'm using the same login information as in CR, but we also tried different.
The User has definitely the right to open the report, because he can type in the information when he opens the report in InfoView, and the report and prompt works. The strange thing is, that the login information are already saved in the properties of the report and should'nt be asked again.
Still no solution for this problem... any other ideas?
Again, everything works fine before we made a new installation of the server and im very sure that every setting now is the same, but the port of the infoview has changed, is there a possibility that some ports need to be opened now or something like that?

BO EDGE 3.1 administration - login issue

We have recently configured BO edge 3.1. We installed the application on server A and the DB (application data not the reporting data) on server B. The problem arising today is our server B has creashed and not recoverable. then we are unable to login to the BO also. We have the DB BKP and we want it to restored to the server A itself. the problem is, where we need to change the login paths. earlier it connects to server B and now it is A itself. We highly appriciate if anyone respond to this tread ASAP. thanks

If you talking about restoring the system Database of the CMS on another Database server and point your CMS to it; that is certainly possible.
Restore the backup of your DB as you normally would on the new DB server.
After this you go into the Central configuration manager application on your XI server.
make sure SIA is stopped and right click on it to go into the properties
Go to configuration tab and click on the specify button to configure the CMS system database.
This is where you can point to whatever DB of your choice.

Display the login User ID on Header in Business Objects XI R3.1 Infoview

In XI R2 Infoview- the login user ID is displayed on header. However In XI R3.1 infoview- displayed Business Objects Logo on the same place of the Header. We noticed that In BO XI3.1 infoview the login user ID is displayed on header. However the Business Objects logo is displayed on top of the user ID so the user ID is hidden. while Setting the Infoview Application properties in CMC (CMC>Applications>Infoview Application Properties> check Do not display logo) then it will hide the logo and then next login displays the login user ID. Could someone please confirm is it the solution with this configuration or else please help us how to display the user ID on Infoview Header.

What you did is exactly correct.
Now you did on XI-R2 and 3.1 right??, whenever you got upgrade to next release of BO version again you have to do the same changing of properties. Which should not be dynamic based on your previous changes on earlier versions.

Blank Login Page after Upgrade from 4.0.2 to 4.1

Greetings,
I just upgraded one of my Apex environments from 4.0.2 to 4.1. After the upgrade, I tried to access the login url and I get a blank page. Nothing on it, just a white page. However, if I do a View Source, all the html code is there. I wonder if it somehow lost where the Image, CSS and Javascript files are located. I am using the Apex Listener running under Weblogic 10.3.3. The Apex Listener was just a standard install with the image location being '/i/'. I am not sure how to debug this. Any help would be appreciated. Here is a snippit of code from the View Source.

I had the same behavior using apache mod/plsql the solution is:
a) shutdown apache (opmnctl stop)
b) unzip the APEX install file in a directory on the machine where apache is installed
c) correct in the dads.conf the virtual dir /i/ to the "images" directory of the unzipped file
d) restart apache (opmnctl start)

Unable to kill infoview session using LogOnToken

Hi All,
I am not able to reuse the EnterpriseSession created in java.
I have a java webapp which displays a list of webi reports with hyper-link.
when user click on a hyper-link, the web app displays the report in infoview in a iframe element.
The problem is whenever user clicks on link a extra session is being created.
I am unable to figure out the problem, why infoview is creating a new session when i am passing a valid Token.
And if i do not pass token then infoview displays login page.
The problem is my webapplication don't have any reference of infoview session so that that i can clean the sessions on webapp log-out.
I am creating session in java and putting it in HttpSession along with logOnToken.

I have been a customer with Verizon since 2012. last year on my upgrade in May I switched 2 of my lines to the Verizon edge program. we got the galaxy note 3. my question is, when may comes around again and I am eligible to upgrade per the Verizon edge, but I decide to cancel my Verizon service instead. do I get charged any fees etc. and do I have to turn the phones back in or no?

Edge Server send RST packet to Client

I'm meeting an issue, please help me!
I'm setting up a testing LAB. After I deployed Edge Server, everything may be fine. But Client connects to Edge server, after TLS handshake, the server send RST packet to
Client. Please refer picture below.
I used CA built on Domain Controller server to assign Cert to internal and external interface of Edge server. I know I should use a public CA on Internet to assign Cert to external interface, but I'm setting LAB for testing, so I used internal CA. And my
domain internal and external are the same (e.g: internal is edge.sip96x2.com and external is access.sip96x2.com). From Client, I installed Root CA Cert downloaded from CA on Domain Controller. Client from external doesn't
have DNS server, instead of using Hosts file, the Host file includes:
"100.20.252.12 access.sip96x2.com"

To work with your Lync Client from External over the edge, the Lync Client has to reach
Access Edge, Audio/Video Edge and Web Edge IP.
To login to your Lync Edge you can use the lync Manual Configuration access.sip96x2.com:443.
You should use the host fqdn for internal Connection and the three needed External FQDN for the edge.
To use a private CA ist allways possible for a Lab.

Run a report as output format "MS Word" under Crystal Report Server 11 R2

May I confirm any patches I can download to fix the problem ?
The problem is if I set the output format as MS Word 2003/2007 instead of crystal report when "Schedule" a report in Crystal Report Server. I found a problem all reports cannot be show on the browser (with error message "Error on page." at the bottom of browser). I need quit the infoview and login again.

CMC Customization

Dear Team,
We are trying to provide a user access to CMC application with a restricted access (BO Version: XI 3.1 + SP3 + FP3.3). The operations he / she can do should be as below:
• Login to CMC application
• Able to see the user's and groups
• Able to see Folder / Universe / Connection
• Able to assign groups to the Folders / Universe / Connection
We want rest of the functionalities to either be not available or at most could be available as read only. Please can you advise if the above is possible have already searched for similar threads but not able to identify one.

CMC is purely admin purpose console.
User need not have any rights on the same.
you can however configure rights for the user in infoview portal.
Go through administrator guide to give specific rights for the requirements that you have.
For starters, to let user see all folders in infoview.
simply login with administrator.
go to CMC>folders
manage
top level settings
add principal ( user or user group that you want rights for )
assign View
save and close

Comodo certs

when I run through https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com and do the Lync test for logging in we get:
Couldn't sign in. Error: Error Message: A certificate chain processed, but terminated in a root certificate which is not trusted by the trust provider.
Error Type: TlsFailureException.
We use a mix of Comodo (wildcard certificate on reverse proxy) and Terena (san certificate on edge) certificates. Can login fine etc. just concerned that these checks are failing.
The autodiscovery test passes fine etc.
Can anyone advise please?

The Remote connectivity tool is a relatively old tool, the test failure by this tool doesn’t mean Lync client login will not work as expected.

BO Report Generation very slow

we have BO XI R2 running on windows 2003 enterprise ed (64 bit) with 8 GB ram and oracle 10g db. the report generation time for a simple statement takes about 40-50 minutes. what are the likely cause ? we have 5 named user licence and our branch personnels are accessing through infoview. the login is very fast.
further can we configure the infoview to generate reports directly in PDF format since we are currently generating the report and then again selecting the view in PDF mode to print. this also takes considerable time.

Yes you can change default view format to PDF in Infoview preferences page which you can find in top right corner of InfoView page.
Also you can try changing Array Fetch size and Array Bind Size in Universe parameters see if it makes some difference.

When apex starts up, the page has no visual objects rendered. Here's a portion of the page's source:

I've tried a number of corrections including rerunning apex_epg_config.sql, apexldimg.sql, adding an apex.images parameter to listener startup (just a shot in the dark), deleting and recreating apex.properties, adding and removing trailing /'s, \'s, //'s, \\'s, etc. I didn't have success with any of these approaches, so it may have been cumulative changes that resulted in the problem. I just list them as having tried (at least once).

Yes, I did specify a full path rather than /i/. I think I had originally started with /i/ but didn't understand where /i/ maps to a folder path, so I reinstalled and specified the path with similar results.
I'll test reset_image_prefix.sql and post results.
I'm confused about the EPSQL gateway v. APEX listener. I just tried to follow the documentation which offered multiple options. I am not familiar with either of them, so I can't defend a choice.

Universe export - data changes not reflecting in Report

The changes and the latest updates in the database are not reflecting in reports,
even if i export the universe again.
and i have refreshed the reports, that even not reflecting.
i did Edit query and Run query this action also not bringing the latest data to reports

Symptom
You make changes a local Universe in Designer.
When refreshing the report, in Desktop Intelligence, the results do not reflect Universe update.
It used to be enough to simply refresh report's data, for Dataprovider to show object changes from the Semantic layer.
Change of behaviour in SP3 codeline: the DeskI Query Panel does not automatically pick up the latest modifications made to the local Universe.
Reproducing the Issue
Using BusinessObjects Desktop Intelligence XIR2 SP3:
Using your universe (eFashion), create and refresh a simple Desktop Intelligence report (.rep).
Make a simple change to the universe (like renaming a field/ object name) and save these changes.
Go back to the open DeskI report and try to refresh the data provider using: 'Data/Refresh Data'.
This will not show the latest changes.
However, if you follow the same workflow using XIR2 SP2, the universe update will be immediately visible (in the report) simply after refresh.
Cause
This is not a product regression, but intentional change in application's code delivered with FixPack3.1.
Fix Request ADAPT00818520 changed the application's behaviour: << When a restricted user is logged on to view a Desktop Intelligence document, prompt windows may be slow to open. >>
Resolution
In Desktop Intelligence menu, go to: Tools > Universes
Click 'Refresh'
Select and 'Import' your universe
Next, go to toolbar menu: Data > Edit Data Provider
In Query Panel, click 'Run' to regenerate the Query and interrogate the updated universe.
Only after following these actions will the .unv ammendments be visible in the report.

i) Import Island Resort Marketing
ii) Go to Universe Parameter >> SQL
ii)Uncheck Allow Selection of Multiple Context
2. Create a new Desktop Intelligence(Deski) Report based on Island Resort Marketing
i) Drag the object Country in the Result's Pane
ii) Save and Export the report to the repository.
3. In Designer Change the Object Country under Resort from Resort_Country.country to
i) Resort_Country.country+'ddd'
Note: Uncheck Allow Selection of Multiple Context
ii) Save and Export the Universe
4. Log in to InfoView
i) View the report
ii) Refresh the report
iii) Changes to the object taken place i.e Country is concatenated with ddd
5. In the Universe Designer, change the Object Country under Resort from Resort_Country.country to

This is by Design as the 'Allow selection of multiple Contexts' forces selection of the context, which is not possible in Infoview, so that in Infoview it is assumed the Context is already selected and no SQL regeneration is required.
Resolution
Problem Description: Changes to object made in the Universe is not affected when refreshed from InfoView if we check 'Allow selection of multiple Contexts' in Universe Designer
Explanation:
If we modify an object and selects also the option 'Allow selection of multiple Contexts', it means that potentially there is more than one SQL that can be generated with the use of that object. Hence if a report is created in Deski, run and exported to enterprise, that means, one particular context (SQL) has been selected.
If you then update one or more of the objects again, the SQL will have to be regenerated in Deski for the right context to be selected for that particular report.
Therefore, if this option is used, for the objects to be updated, the SQL of the report will have to be regenerated in Deski, run and export it back to repository, then refresh the report in InfoView.
For Deski reports viewed in InfoView, it is not possible to evaluate the context on refresh. The report will always use the context stored with the report and same for the SQL. Therefore the Deski report will need to be imported locally, refresh it and then export it back to repository for the changes to take place.
Problem description: Desktop Intelligence (Deski) still prompts for selection of contexts even if 'Allow selection of contexts' is unchecked for Universe
Explanation:
The option 'Allow selection of Multiple Contexts' in Designer is not to disable the prompt. It will prompt you to select context if the object used is associated with context. The option is just to allow Deski to select multiple contexts at a time if in case the object used is associated with multiple contexts and accordingly generates the SQL.
However if we uncheck the option even if there are multiple contexts associated with the object used, it will allow selection of only one context at a time.
Problem Description: Issue with Row level Restriction when refreshed from InfoView with 'Allow selection of multiple Contexts' checked for the Universe.
Explanation:
We first have to regenerate the SQL in Deski, then export it to repository and refresh from InfoView for the changes to take place correctly. The explanation above applies.
