BO Live Office - Excel files no longer opening

Hi all,
I've been running into a problem and only encountered it when installing BO Live Office. On my old computer, I used to be able to click on an Excel file that was on my desktop, for example, and then Excel would automatically open up and open the file. Then when I downloaded Live Office, I was no longer able to do this. Now everytime I click on an Excel file (no matter where it is located), I keep getting an error. Excel opens, but it tells me "There was a problem sending the command to the program."
At first I thought it was just my computer messing up and or something else was going wrong, but now I'm not so sure. I just recently got a new computer and I tried out opening an Excel file (from my desktop, for example) and it worked. Then I went and installed Live Office with the latest FixPack, etc. Once I installed it, it would no longer let me open an Excel File by clicking on the file. I keep getting the same error - "There was a problem sending the command to the program."
On my old computer, I had Office 2003 w/Windows XP and now I have Office 2007 w/Windows 7. It doesn't seem to matter if I have the latest software or upgrades/fixpacks. This error still occurs. I've tried turning off/disabling the Live Office Plug-in, but this has not worked either. Has anyone run into this problem before? I'm not sure how to go about fixing it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Charlette

Hi,
I also had the same issue (from couple of months) after we upgraded and it was very very frustating until I saw this post.
Thanks a lot Tracy.
I added "%1" at the end in the field labeled u2018Application used to perform action:u2019
"......\Microsoft Office\Office12\EXCEL.EXE" "%1" /e
The excel files are now opening. But there is also a message along with it. It says as below.
>>>
Windows cannot find '<excel file name goes here>'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To searcg for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.
>>>
It's odd that the file is opening fine even though the above message shows up. This happens to every .XLS and .XLSX file. Atleast the file is opening now, which is great!
I am not sure how to fix the warning message.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks again.

    Hi Ingo,
Yes the same report can be accessed from Infoview and we don't have any issues but once we save the live office objects locally on desktop then trying to connect to LIVE OFFICE to refresh the reports then we are getting the message.
Authentication method in Live office is SAP and I didn't check "Enable windows active directorysingle sign on"
Authentication method in Universe is " Use Specified user name and Password"
Can you please help me what could be the reason for the issue and how to resolve that.

wat should be done to resolve it?

    Hi,
Can you download the attachment to local and open it? Does other types of attachment have this issue?
    Please check the following settings:
Go to File -> Options -> Trust Center -> Trust Center Settings -> Attachment Handling -> Make sure "Turn off attachment Preview" is not selected -> Click "Attachment and Document Previewers" button -> Make sure "Microsoft
Excel previewer" is selected -> OK -> OK -> OK.

I have two excel files I cannot open or delete from my desktop.  One is titled 6ACAD200 and the other file is titled 8D73A700.  How can I get these off of my computer?

From the names I'd guess they are temporary files. If excel is running, quit and try again. If they still won't move or delete reboot. If they still won't move or delete...kill a chicken at midnight under an oak tree?

  • Important Microsoft Office 2011 Excel File isn't opening Please Help!

    Hello everyone,
I'm having problems opening one single excel file. I've tried others and they open with no issue. This file I'm trying to open now opened 2 days ago as it's a project I've been working on and I desperately need to get back to working on it!
I'm running OS X 10.8.4 on a Macbook Pro with Microsoft Office 2011. When I open the workbook it loads the progress bar, then doesn't show anything from excel apart from the top bar with file/edit/view... etc
When I try and open it from this point it gives me a message
    'XXX.xlsx is already open.
Reopening will cause any changes you made to be discarded. Do you want to reopen XXX.xlsx
PLEASE HELP and don't hesistate to ask for anymore information if you need it. Thank you.

Such instances are examples of why one should maintain good backups.  I suggest you consider using Time Macnine backups.  It would allow you to go back in time to earlier versions of the file if a later one is corrupted or if you save unwanted changes by mistake.
You would need a $80 external disk drive for the Time Machine volume.  Your data is much more valuable than that $80 cost.  Disks can fail at any time, taking all of your data with them.

  • How to copy the table datas into an  open office excel file .

    Hello All ,
I have a form which contains several pages . Each page contains some tables in it . How can we copy each table datas into an open office execl files ??
I mean there will be several excel files each file corresponds to a particular table in the form. I am using LiveCycle Designer ES 2 . in Windows XP.
    Thanks
    Bibhu.

    Hi Bibhu,
Here is a screenshot of exporting the form data to XML:
I have not imported XML into Excel, but I know that Excel 2007 has tools for this in the Developer tab. I don't have Excel 2007 on this machine, so I can't get screenshots. However using Acrobat you can merge the XML file into a spreadsheet, using the same menu Forms > Manage Form Data > Merge Data Files into Spreadsheet.
In addition you can set up a data connection to the spreadsheet. However this will only work in a Windows environment and you need to share the OLEDB data connection with all users. In addition if you Reader Enable the form with Acrobat, the data connection will not work.
So on balance if you want to get data to a spreadsheet I would recommend export XML.
    Hope that helps,
    Niall

  • How to create a excel file which will open in every version of MS Office?

For excel file handling we are using Measurement Studio 8.0 for VS .NET 2003. Now we are save the excel file into.xls file using this format "CNiExcelWorkbook::FileFormatExcel9795" . it will save the file. Now the problem is If that PC has MS Office 2003 or lesser version, then its working fine. But if the PC has MS Office 2007, it will giving problem. So my question is how to save  excel file which will support any version of MS Office?

reply me @:  [email protected] or [email protected]

    In your code, write this:
    DATA my_path type string.
GET PARAMETER ID 'ZPATH' FIELD my_path. "or any other name you choose
double click on ZPATH, choose create. You will have created a new parameter. You can use any names starting with Z or Y.
Go to SU01, and set this parameter there (ZPATH)..I hope this doesn't need further clarification.
In parameter value, put the path to the file..
After executing the GET statement, the value will be available in the variable my_path. Pass this to GUI_UPLOAD/DOWNLOAD functions, and it should work fine.

    Hi,
i have the same issue now where i need to populate the xport file name as report name. can you send me your solution please.

  • 20 mb excel file are not open in excel 2013

    Dear Microsoft,
We are facing the  problen in excel 2014. When i open my  20 mb excel sheet ....it goes hang & showing the error..that Microsoft excel stop working .Please provide a setting solve this Issue.?

    Hi,
Did the issue only occur with the 20MB Excel file or all the Excel file? Which file format are you using? XLS or XLSX? Did the file has some formula or macro?
If only the special file encounter the issue, it may be caused by the file itself. We may try to clean the hidden options.
    Steps: Home tab>Find & Select>Go to> Object> Delete.
If the file has some formulas or macros with large data, the issue may be related to the PC's performance. The machine cannot do the calculation/operation at the moment.
If all the file has the issue, please refer to the following method and check if they are helpful:
Method 1: Verify/install the latest updates
Method 2: Start Excel in safe mode
Method 3: Investigate possible issues with add-ins
Method 4: Check whether your antivirus software is up to date or is conflicting with Excel
Method 5: Make sure that Excel is not being used by another process
Method 6: Check whether your file is being generated by a third party
Method 7: Test by using a new local or network profile
Method 8: Perform a selective startup to determine whether a program, process, or service conflicts with Excel
Method 9: Repair or reinstall your Office program

  • Office 365 files do not open

I recently loaded Office 365 on my Windows 7 desktop.  I cannot open any file created in Excel by doubleclicking on the file.  I have used the repair function many times, uninstalled the previous version of Office -- no good.  I cannot open
Word documents by doubleclicking on the file, but I can open them by opening Word first, then browsing for the file.
If I try to open an Excel file by doubleclicking it, nothing happens.  If I try to open it after opening Excel, the file will briefly flash on the screen and then the program crashes.  I could open Excel files created in Office 365 by opening Excel
2007, then opening the file from Excel 2007.  That's not an option now, as I have uninstalled Excel 2007.
I have tried to run Excel/exe/regserver, and get the error message "Windows cannot find 'Excel.exe/regserver.'  Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."
I see that this seems to be a fairly common issue, but I can't find any solution that lets me open Excel files.  Hoping that you have a better solution.

    Hi,
When uninstalling an Office version while leaving another version installed on the computer, you should repair the version of Office remaining after the uninstallation process, to make sure that file type associations will work correctly.
If you choose to re-register the application, as Diane mentioned above, please note the space in the command.

  • My music files no longer open...

The icon next to each music file has changed colour ( black on white to white on blue symbol) & iTunes no longer opens files with the blue & white symbol, Any ideas please??

I'm having a similar problem, if you could help me out.
I just barely installed Office 2011 on my Mac (10.5.8) and now I can't access any of my old word documents.
When I try to open them, it says it is "blocked from opening in this version".
when I open it from word (file-open), it says that it's locked for editing by another user, and I can only open it read-only. When I click read only, it says
"word cannot open this document. the document might be in use, the document might not be a valid word document, or the file name might contain invalid characters."
just an hour ago, when i had the old version of word installed on my computer I could access all of these files, but now I can't open any of them. Any ideas?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you! Merry Christmas!

  • Excel file can't open via email after upgrading to OSX 10.9.2

After upgrading to OSX 10.9.2, my Excel files are not readable when sent by email. My version for Excel is 2008 for Mac V12.3.6.
I have no trouble opening Excel on my computer but cannot seem to send Excel files via email.

Thanks. Tried that and it works but I had found another alternative.
Didn't realise but my Excel file had the extension missing even though it was saved as xlsx. To solve the problem, I just clicked on 'Append the File Extension' when I 'Saved As' and it worked. Thanks for the alternative help anyway.

  • Cp4 - project (.cp) files no longer open

    Hello folks,
Since upgrading to Windows 7 64bit, I can no longer rely on the integrity of Cp4's project files. Again, I have another three .cp files that will no longer open in Captivate 4. When I attempt to open them, absolutely nothing happens... that means no error message, nothing...
But I know the files are not actually 'bad' because they will all open successfully in Captivate 5.5 beta. Unfortunately, neither 5.0 nor 5.5 offer backwards compatibility in Export or Save As.
I have also tried opening the .bak file (renamed) and previous backups. It seems to have become corrupted during the last major change.
I have encountered this problem far too many times. Perhaps it is time to finally upgrade to Cp 5?
Has anyone else encountered similar difficulties?

You could try creating a new Captivate 4 file (Keep the same dimensions)
Then try importing the slides, File / Import / Slides/Objects and select the 'corrupt' file and see if the slides are appearing there to import . I've had issues in the past and this normally gets round it.
If all else fails feel free to send a copy up to yousendit.com (or another similar site) and PM me the link, i'll take a look at it for you
On my laptop I cant open a particular Captivate 4 file (Think memory issues) yet it opens fine on my desktop PC.  The file 'opens' but theres no slides or anything, the toolbar says the name of the Captivate 4 file but theres no slides.
    Cheers
    Paul

  • Non-encrypted excel file will not open in numbers

I opened the xlsx file just fine on a friends pc excel program with out a password or anything. I then saved it and tried to open it on my macbook but it keeps saying it is encyrpted...help please!

    Hi sabdulmeseh,
In Finder, right click (or control click) on the document and Open With > Preview.
I tried this with an Excel document and it opened with Tabs (Sheets) just like Excel.
    For each Sheet:
    click on the Tab
    click in the Sheet
    Edit > Select All
    Edit > Copy.
Paste into a blank Table in Numbers.
This is painfully slow, but I hope this is a workaround for you.
    Regards,
    Ian.

  • Encrypted excel file will not open

I am tyring to open an excel file from NEEC.  It is an energy compliance form used to evaluate energy usage in buildings.  It opens easily in excel, without mention of encryption.  But when I try opening in numbers all i get is the error message, "document encrypted and can't be opened"
    Anyone passed this hurdle before?

    Hi
I can not comment specifically on NEEC, but:
I too have Excel files that are password protected to open and modify.
When I transfer this file from a PC (or a Mac) to another Mac, it does not open when i click on it, and gives the same message in this thread about encryption.
I solved it by going to Finder
    Highlight/Select (don't double-click) the document in Finder
Go to "file" on finder menu bar
Go to "get info" on the drop-down list
    Click on "open with"
Change the default from "Numbers" to "Microsoft Excel"
    Click on your document
    And you are away
You will of course have to have the relevant passwords
And I suspect, you can save back to Numbers
I hope this is useful to you
    Thanks
    Joe
