BO XI 3.0 Installation AD Kerberose Authentication Error
I have installed BO XI 3.0 and everything works great, except I cannot logon with my AD account. I have followed all the steps in Administrator Guid and I get an error when I run the kinit.exe:

Do I need to open any specific ports? I have a side-by-side installation of BO XI R1 that authenticates using NTLM without a problem.
kinit uses the JDK and 2 files (bsclogin and krb5) By the message we have found the bsclogin but the krb5 is missing the KDC or it is improperly formatted.
the KDC should be a fqdn of a DC in your domain (local DC if possible)
Ususually you can find the DC by running set at the command prompt and looking up your login server. Then ping it or ping -a to get the FQDN. Type this value in your krb5 (ALL CAPS) as your KDC.

I checked the log file and it says it is encountered an authentication error. I'm wondering which user name and password it is referring and where shall I set the correct values. During the app server connection, I have entered the proper value for oc4jadmin/password.

I tried once again to install a fresh instance of Oracle soa suite 10.1.3.0 and upgraded it to 10.1.3.4 successfully. I did all the JDeveloper 11g installation and configure SOA process all successfully. I can create a connection to OC4J using 12401 RMI port successfully but none of my applications are deployed to server.
This message is repeatedly displaying in messages tab:

The default OC4J RMI port is 23791 but in my installation it is set to 12401 when I checked the Runtime Port option of Oracle Application Server and the connection is fine with this port but applications can not be deployed with this configuration.
I can deploy applications on separate standalone OC4J instance successfully but not able to do it with my SOA application server.
Any comments will be appreciated.

Oracle bi authentication error

You are probably encountering 2 different issues.
For BI Publisher:
With a default OBI installation the BI Publisher security model is set to "Oracle BI Server". So to log into BI Publisher the BI Server has to be up. It can also be the case that you created a new repository. Then you probably have not created and granted the right roles to the OBI user (i.e. XMLP_ADMIN etc. see the default paint.rpd or samplesales.rpd for those roles).
You can turn off the OBI authentication. For that you have to go the Admin tab, security configuration and use another security model (i.e. BI Publisher security).
For the iBot:
Did you follow all configuration steps as stated in the configuration guide? One step is to add the user, which you configured with the job manager, to the credential store. I think you missed that step.

"Authentication error", making disk image
I'm trying to make a disk image of my OS X boot disk, as an emergency backup. I'm booting from the Installation CD that came with my Mac Pro, and using Disk Utility. I select my boot drive, click New Image, and tell it to save to an external firewire drive, compressed and encrypted. It starts and quickly errors out, with "Authentication error." What does this mean?
I've used 250 GB of the 500 GB on my boot drive, and my external drive is 120 GB. I'd rather tell it to skip some files to save space, but it doesn't give me the option to do that. Will "compress" get it to be small enough? Is this why I'm getting an error? I've repaired permissions before booting from the CD.I don't know about the authentication error; however, to make a disk image of 250 GB source drive to a 120 GB target is an exercise in futility. There's not enough room. 250 GB? What are storing? A complete music store, the movies of Hollywood, or the pictures in an art gallery?
If you want an emergency backup of your 500 GB HD, then you'll need an external at least as big. BTW, making disk images for this purpose is fraught with danger since you can't ensure that it's good until you restore it to a bootable HD. I strongly recommend something like Carbon Copy Cloner, SuperDuper!, etc. instead. BTW, you can just drag & drop any data files from one HD to another. There's no need to put them in a disk image and certainly no need to encrypt things. If you decide to go the bootable backup route, move the data files to root-level and don't back those up. That should make your emergency backup a lot smaller. -
Authentication error while logging in through WEBLOGIC user

I have installed OBIEE 11.1.1.5 on my system having Windows 7 (32bit). The installation went thru without any errors.
I am able to login to Enterprise manager and Console with user weblogic/oracle123 but am not able to login to Analytics. its giving Authentication error.
Can somebody lease help.

AnkitWhenever you want to login to OBIEE 11g - First Start--Go to all programs --Oracle Business Intelligence- Stop BI services. Stop the BI services first.
You may try this -->
Go to Run, Type odbccp32.cpl
go to System DSN - Select Coreapplication.....
Configure ->Say OK-> Uncheck Clustered DSN option. -> OK.
Start the OBI services.
Note : Before starting the OBIEE 11g services - first of all STOP the bi services.
After you press start BI service - wait for 10 min to finish the process - a blank page will open by itself - wait again for 2 minutes and then just refresh the page -

Authentication error with shell=/usr/bin/bash
Hello there,
I'm comfortable with linux, but new with Arch Linux. Recently I completed an installation with success but I ran into a strange authentication error at login.
Before adding a user I verified the path of the bash shell and 'which bash' returned /usr/bin/bash.
So I added a user with shell /usr/bin/bash and the line in /etc/passwd reads similar to:
newuser:x:1000:100:His name:/home/newuser:/usr/bin/bash
With this line I get an authentication error from login
And when I change the shell to /bin/bash, the user is able to login with success.
I have found similar problem reports, but not this solution.
I hope to get some help with understanding this issue, to me it seems wrong to point the shell in /etc/passwd to a symbolic link.Thank you very much, falconindy.
My first reaction is "But what if /usr becomes inaccessible", also /bin/sh is a symlink.
But I guess with rescue options from initramfs or live CD/usb, this is not a big issue anymore.
I have added /usr/bin/bash to /etc/shells.

Subject host OS: windows 8 pro.
I've turned os feater hyper-v on, restarted copmuter. In hyper-v manager added empty virtual machine. After double clikcing on my newly created machine windows with "virtual michine connection appeered". I turned button "power on" and
console has dropped error:
"remote desktop connection": "An authentication error has occurred. The supplied handle is invalid."
on the tiny image on the left bottom picture a can see quest console.
1) How can i install OS on my guest, where is default console for virtual machine?

By saying the default console for Virtual machine, do you mean the Hyper-V manager?
The error might indicate that there is no VM available to connect. After we installed a OS, then we could connect it with the right-click in Hyper-V manager， see:
Connect to a Virtual Machine
The RDP connections is used to connect the VM in Windows 8, and for Windows 8.1, there are great improvements including what's called Enhanced Session Mode, more information, please see:

Creating Sparse Image: Authentication Error
I created an encrypted sparse image in DU and then deleted it (by highlighting in DU and pressing "delete") because I thought I had made an error in sizing and location. Now, trying to create a new one, when I press "create" it begins a progress bar of creating the file (without asking for a new password creation) and then fails with:"cannot create sparse.dmg: authentication error".
I eliminated the original password(for the first sparse.dmg)in my keychain, ran "repair disk permissions" for my HD, and also logged out and restarted, but still get the same error message.
Any help appreciated!

Looks like you did right, you can trash them if everything is fine now, new ones were made on use or reboot, I suspect the keychain one myself.
My other question is that if I eject the new formed sparse drive and then remount it by double clicking the sparse image, it does not request the password.
Did you choose to save the password in the Keychain? It'd automatically open it with the stored Keychain password.
in trying to keep this "vintage" imac G5 (non intel) machine going is it worthwhile or recommended to purchase OS 10.5 Leopard or am I looking at further trouble?
Leopard should be just fine, how much RAM do you have?

APEX 3.2 Installation - 500 Internal Server Error

I am trying to get APEX 3.2 working on a 10.2.0.5 database, using Embedded PL/SQL Gateway. I have followed the steps from here.
The installation is successful (no errors in install log). However, when I try to access the APEX admin page (http://host:port/apex/apex_admin) for the first time after installation, I get "500 Internal Server Error".
Can somebody help me to figure out what is the issue ?

Remote Desktop Connection - Authentication error
Hello,
I wish to connect to my work PC from my laptop. The remote desktop connection was working fine till yesterday, but today i receive the following error when i try to connect -
"An authentication error has occurred. The Local Security Authority cannot be contacted. Remote Computer: <name>."
I have Win 7 ultimate installed on my 32 bit system, and have tried solutions proposed in the other threads. I do not require a NLA check for connection, i have always used the remote desktop with this option unchecked. Could anyone help me with this please?

It could be as easy as you need to change your password on your domain accout.
Are both computers connected to the same domian or is your work computer connected to a domain and your laptop connected to a workgroup?
If your password has expired, this error can occur, so I would start to check that since it stoped working over night.

Query: Authentication Error while consuming a web service
Hi All,
I've generted a WSDL file by using the following steps.
1.Created a RFC enabled ABAP pgm
2.Created a web service out of it (using webservice creation wizard - default virtual host. so my port is 8100)3.Released the web service (WSCONFIG)
4.Generated the WSDL file (WSADMIN + CTRL F1).
Then I wanted to consume it from a .Net program. But am getting authentication error in .Net.
Do I need to configure anything for Authentication (username and password) from R/3 side?..
How Do I pass the credential info from .Net?.
Should I take care of any setup other than what I've specified?.
