BOE- General Implementation Questions

I recently joing a Medical Transportation Company which is currently using DB2 on AS400 and is in the process of moving to Mysql. The project that I'm incharge of is finding the right technology for web based report generation and making them accessible to end users to run their own reports on a day to day basis. Currently we have BOE on a very old computer with radom versions of Crystal software installed on 2-3 computers with out a report server.
I would appreciate if someone could suggest what I need in order for me to create a separate BOE server and what are the pre-req's in order to do that. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Please feel free to ask me questions if anything I asked is not clear
Thanks
Achett

What version of BOE do you have? Anyway, BOE comes with Web Intelligence which is an excellent web-based reporting tool. It is very easy to use and very easy to learn, as long as the back-end data-mart and the universes are set up correctly.
It depends on how many users the system is going to support, you should install it on a server. BusinessObjects is built for Windows first, and then extend to other Operating Systems later. Therefore, for optimizing performance and minimizing cost at the same time, you should use Windows Server. Windows servers are much cheaper to maintain than UNIX server, and Windows Admin are much cheaper in term of salary than UNIX Admin. So you do the math.
The installation is quite straight-forward. You should read the Getting Started and the Admin Guide documentation first before you proceed. If you are stuck, you can always contact Tech Support if you have purchased the support contract. Otherwise, feel free to drop by again for questions.
Hope this helps.

    Hi!
I have a window inheritance and implementation question. I'm using
    Forte 3.0.J.1.
I have a super (base) window with a PushButton on it. I want to
handle the Click event of the button in this super window therefore
    I create an event handler.
    <MyBtn> : PushButton
I create a sub window inheriting from the previous super window.
I put some data widgets on it and group all of them (the inherited
button as well) into a GridField. When I set the mapped type of the grid
the name of the inherited PushButton widget changes:
    <MainGrid.MyBtn> : PushButton
When I run the application I get a SystemException with the
    message:
Attempt to register an event on a NIL object (qqds_C_FieldWidget, 10).
    Traceback:
    SuperWindow.EH at line 0
    SubWindow.Display at line 5
    C++ Method(s)
    UserApp.Run at offset 105
It is quite understandable that in runtime there is no widget called
    <MyBtn>
and the event handler of the super class fails.
But what I don't know : after specifing a mapped type of a GridField why
    changes
the name of those widgets that haven't got mapped type e.g.: PushButton,
    PictureButton etc.
    How to solve this situation?
I made a sall example which i send in attachment.
Thanks for any help and advice in advance...

Changed my final code too because it seemed to always add the 10% whether YesWarranty was true or false, so made it
if (TrueWarranty==true) //There is a warranty, it returns the base price plus 10%
return (base+((base/100)*10));May have posted here too early if it does work, but there is another part so if ive trouble with that il be back :P

Changed base to double and used the *0.1 method

  • General dreamwevaer question

    hello dreamweavers.
im a newbie going to use dreamweaver from next week and beyond,so id like to ask the following:
should i design the website in photoshop and then import it into dreamwevaer,in order to code it?
is dreamwevaer flexible in design point of view,or is it mostly getting finished designs such as headers, footers, flash banners,
and then building up the site where things so and such.
    thank you.

    Hello Nancy.
seems like an informative website,i can see it is easy to understand the
    basics.

  • General BADi question:Call BADi in background job/batch input. Possible?

    Hi out there,
i'm using thoe following BADi: /SAPSLL/CTRL_SD0C_R3 (Global Trade Service).
But also, this question is a general question.
If we are calling on screen the transaction VF01, the BADi is called correctly.
But unfortunately it seemes that the BADi is NOT called (im not really sure, cause i can't debug the background task) when we are calling a batch input sequence wth f.e. form bdc_transaction VF01 nothing happens.
Maybe BADi cannot be called in a background task? If it's possible, how could it be monitored. Thare isw no spool entry or anything like that!
    Any answer can help.
    Thank you in advance!
    Regards,
    Timo

    Hi,
generally BADIs are called in background mode. You can use the following trick to debug your BADI. You just need to create an infinite loop in your BADI implementation. Something like this.
    DATA: l_a TYPE c.
    WHILE l_a IS INITIAL.
    ENDWHILE.
Obviously when your BADI is called in background mode then program will get into infinite loop. You can easily connect and debug running programs from transaction SM50. You need to select your background process and go to Program/Session -> Program -> Debugging. You will jump directly into your BADI methos with infinite loop. Then you will just set value to l_a and you will start debugging your BADI. If you can not find any process then your BADI is not called in background mode.
    Cheers

  • Can I use coherence as follows? (General architecture question)

I'm working on creating a "web service" that will typically
    - Receive a request and log it.
    - Process
    - Reply to "client" and log it.
The idea is to put the logs into the grid and finally to SOR?
Of course the logs need to be parsed, searchable etc...
    Does the above make sense?
    And some general questions...
If coherence is configured as partitioned do you really need a SOR, can it replace the SOR?
Can I have coherence running on seperate machines and the web service on other servers?

    It makes perfect sense.
You can use a CacheStore to asynchronously ("write behind") to write your log entries to the system of record. You can implement a LogEntry class which would wrap the log messages, and expose getters for the attributes you wished to query by. You can configure an evication policy to determine how long LogEntry's should remain in Coherence.
So long as you have sufficient memory for the amount of data you wish to store (and backups, if necessary), yes Coherence can replace your SOR.
Yes, Coherence can run on different servers. Your web service layer can be configured as a "storage disabled" cluster member, or connect to the cache servers using Extend.

  • General OIM questions

    Hi All,
After reviewing the OIM Administrative and User Console, I have a few general questions below. Any answers or references to relevant documentation will appreciated.
    Regards,
    user10233157
    •     As far as constructing a delegated administration model is concerned, what functionality can be delegated? What is Oracle's rationale behind providing this capability?
    •     To what extent are bulk operations supported? Do bulk operations only apply to the search results for the simple and advanced user search?
    •     To what extent can the existing self-service functionality be customized based on the currently logged in user? Does it only depend on the "Menu Items" and authorization policy associated with a user's role?
    •     To what extent can the user interface be customized and enhanced with additional functionality? For example, can we easily add a password strength indicator or change the look-and-feel?
    •     How does OIM support/enforce segregation of duties (SoD)?
    •     Provide an overview of what can be achieved with custom approval workflows? Can the workflow be controlled by external configurations such as information stored in a role/resource catalogue?
    •     Can we leverage our current SOA infrastructure, i.e. can we use our existing Oracle Fusion Middleware solution to execute approval workflows?
    •     When it comes to resources, how are entitlements managed? Is it via roles? For example, a FTP server has two kinds of users: those that can only download files (read access) and those that can both download and upload files (read and write access). If this FTP server was added as a resource, how would entitlements be managed for the different kinds of users?
    •     Unpack the architecture of OIM to provide insight as to how various fusion components or capabilities are integrated/used.
    •     Can notifications be sent using external notification services, e.g. SMS? Can we create our own events to trigger notifications?
    •     Unpack the SPML webservice interface and format provider. What operations are supported? What are the limitations?
    •     How is the actual provisioning mechanism implemented? What if the provisioning process takes long to complete? How are many concurrent provisioning requests handled?
    •     By default, the OIM repository is a DB. Can it be a directory? Do we have other choices in this regard? To what extent can the existing schema be modified?
    •     Are all transactions (initiated via users, administrators, connectors, scheduled tasks, etc.) logged? If so, how can this information be accessed?

It would be good if you attend some OIM training. ;-)
    • As far as constructing a delegated administration model is concerned, what functionality can be delegated? What is Oracle's rationale behind providing this capability?
Attribute Level. Few user can modify only few attributes.
    • To what extent are bulk operations supported? Do bulk operations only apply to the search results for the simple and advanced user search?
No. You should read about Bulk Orchestration. It may help.
    • To what extent can the existing self-service functionality be customized based on the currently logged in user? Does it only depend on the "Menu Items" and authorization policy associated with a user's role?
You mean Self Registration ? There's no limit defined by oracle for Customization. If you know ADF then you can create a new UI for yourself.
    • To what extent can the user interface be customized and enhanced with additional functionality? For example, can we easily add a password strength indicator or change the look-and-feel?
You mean Self Registration ? There's no limit defined by oracle for Customization. If you know ADF then you can create a new UI for yourself.
    • How does OIM support/enforce segregation of duties (SoD)?
It is same as we have in OIM 10g
    • Provide an overview of what can be achieved with custom approval workflows? Can the workflow be controlled by external configurations such as information stored in a role/resource catalogue?
    Yes
    • Can we leverage our current SOA infrastructure, i.e. can we use our existing Oracle Fusion Middleware solution to execute approval workflows?
    Currently No

If this FTP server was added as a resource, how would entitlements be managed for the different kinds of users?
It depends only upon the design which create for an Enterprise.
    • Unpack the architecture of OIM to provide insight as to how various fusion components or capabilities are integrated/used.
    • Can notifications be sent using external notification services, e.g. SMS? Can we create our own events to trigger notifications?
Yes if you are capable of doing that then you can integrate those with OIM.
    • Unpack the SPML webservice interface and format provider. What operations are supported? What are the limitations?
See the doc for operations supported. It is mentioned there
    • How is the actual provisioning mechanism implemented? What if the provisioning process takes long to complete? How are many concurrent provisioning requests handled?
Ask Oracle and Need to wait or find the root cause
    • By default, the OIM repository is a DB. Can it be a directory? Do we have other choices in this regard? To what extent can the existing schema be modified?
No DB is must. you can use OID
    • Are all transactions (initiated via users, administrators, connectors, scheduled tasks, etc.) logged? If so, how can this information be accessed?
Yes. OIM is used for Audit so these things are mandatory. Not sure what kind of information you need.

  • Some General iPhone Questions

As I consider buying an iPhone, I have a few general questions.
    1. What are some possible improvements that can be done to the iPhone by Apple via software updates? When do you think we will see these updates?
    2. What are some of the possible improvements that can only come from purchasing a second generation iPhone?
    3. I want to make this my ONLY phone and ditch a land line for the first time. Is the clarity any better than your average cell phone?
    4. I'm not hard of hearing, but some reports have said that the volume is low (for phone conversations) and difficult to hear when used as a traditional phone without headphones. Are there settings on the phone to raise the volume? Can this be a software update from Apple if this is indeed a problem?
    5. This would be my first time switching carriers. If I want to keep my current number (from Verizon) would I cancel my service there first or would registering the iPhone via iTunes do that for me?

done to the iPhone by Apple via software updates?

Since there have not yet been any updates, no one knows for sure. But any improvements in the apps and widgets would definitely be one possibility; also firmware upgrades
    2. What are some of the possible improvements that

Everything can be improved on an updated phone, particularly implementation of 3G.
    3. I want to make this my ONLY phone and ditch a land
line for the first time. Is the clarity any better
    than your average cell phone?
This is very subjective! I find it to be no worse nor no better then most phones I have owned.
    4. \Are there settings on the
    phone to raise the volume?
    Yes
    Can this be a software

    Unknown, but should be possible.

If you cancel service with Verizon first - you will LOSE that number!
I do not believe registering the old number with AT&T will automatically cancel your service although AT&T MAY do this.
It would be best to talk to AT&T as to the proper method prior to or at time of purchase.

  • PL/SQL Ad-hoc Reporting Implementation Questions

Recently, I have been put on a development team that is developing a small reporting module for one of our applications.
I'm trying to mask the underlying structure from the application by having the application run PL/SQL procedures which return REF CURSORS to the client with the requested data. Right now I'm struggling with how to implement the PL/SQL in the best fashion.
Since this is a reporting tool the user has many combinations of selections. For example at a high level this application has a combination of multiple dropdowns (4-6), radio buttons, and check boxes. As you can see this results in a high amount of possible combinations that have to be sent to the database.
Basically, the user chooses the following:
    1. Columns to receive (ie different SELECT lists in the PL/SQL)
    2. Specific conditions (ie different WHERE clauses in the PL/SQL)
    3. Aggregate functions (SUMS, TOTALS, AVERAGES based on #1 and #2)
    4. Trends based on #3.
So... with that said I see two possibilities:
    1. Create a static query for each combination of parameters (in this case that would most likely result in at least 300 queries that would have to be written, possibly 600+).
The problem I see with this is that I will have to write a significant amount of queries. This is a lot of front end work that, while is tedious, could result in a better performing system because it would be a parse once, execute many scenario which is scalable.
The downside though is that if any of the underlying structure changes I have to go through and change tens of queries.
    2. Use DBMS_SQL and dynamically generate the queries based on input conditions.
This approach (possibly) sacrifices performance (parse once, execute once situation), but has increased maintainability because it is more likely that I'll have to make one change vice a number of changes in scenario 1.
A downside to this is that, it may be harder to debug (and hence maintain) because the SQL is generated on the fly.
    My questions to all is:
    1. Which is the approach that would best manage maintainability / performance?
    2. Is there any other approaches to using PL/SQL as a reporting tool that I am not thinking of?
The database is 10.2.0.3, and the 'application' is PHP 5.1 running on IIS 6.
If you need me to provide any additional information please let me know.
    Thanks!

Ref cursors are an ugly solution (different though in 11g).
You build a dynamic SQL. It must/should have bind variables. But a ref cursor does not allow you to dynamically bind values to bind variables. You need to code the actual bind variables into the code as part of the open cursor command. And at coding time you have no idea how many bind variables there will be in that dynamic SQL for the ref cursor.
The proper solution is DBMS_SQL as it allows exactly this. Also one of the reasons why APEX uses this for its report queries.
The only sensible way to implement this type of thing in PL/SQL is by not trying to make it generic (as one could with DBMS_SQL). Instead use polymorphisms and have each procedure construct the appropriate ref cursor with bind variables.
    E.g.
SQL> create or replace package query as
    2 procedure Emp( c in out sys_refcursor );
    3 procedure Emp( c in out sys_refcursor, nameLike varchar2 );
    4 procedure EMp( c in out sys_refcursor, deptID number );
    5 end;
    6 /
    Package created.
    SQL>
SQL> create or replace package body query as
    2
    3 procedure Emp( c in out sys_refcursor ) is
    4 begin
    5 open c for select * from emp order by 1;
    6 end;
    7
    8 procedure Emp( c in out sys_refcursor, nameLike varchar2 ) is
    9 begin
    10 open c for select * from emp where ename like nameLike order by 1;
    11 end;
    12
13 procedure EMp( c in out sys_refcursor, deptID number ) is
    14 begin
    15 open c for select * from emp where deptno = deptID order by sal;
    16 end;
    17 end;
    18 /
    Package body created.
    SQL>
    SQL> var c refcursor
    SQL> exec query.Emp( :c, 'S%' )
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL>
    SQL> print c
EMPNO ENAME JOB MGR HIREDATE SAL COMM DEPTNO

  • A few general agent questions

We've been asked some general questions by our agents that I have been unable to find answers for, (although 4 and 5 are likely working as designed). We are running IPCC Express 7.0(1)SR05_Build504 and these are all phone agents. We do not run the agent desktop client. Any assistance in answering these questions would be greatly appreciated.
    1. TransfertoVM softkey "grayed out" while on a CSQ call. Can it be enabled?
    2. While logged in to CSQ, is there a way to start dialing prior to
    lifting the receiver?
    3. Is it possible to handle more than one CSQ call at a time, e.g. put a call on hold and answer
    another CSQ call.
    4. Upon selecting Agent Login (single-button login), can the agent automatically be put into Ready?
    5. Upon Logout, can the phone be returned to the main screen, rather than getting the manual agent login screen?
Again, any assistance in answering these questions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Roger

    Hi
    1) Isn't that an IPMA softkey? Never tried it, but whilst it's not in the 'unsupported' list, I wouldn't expect using any IPMA features in conjunction with CAD would get you good results. If it doesn't cause you stuck/ghost calls, I would expect erroneous reports...
    2) Being logged into a CSQ doesn't affect the way the phone works.
    - You can dial the number then either lift the handset or hit dial (for speakerphone)
    - You can press speakerphone or headset then dial
I guess what you are referring to is if you are using the IP Phone Agent in conjunction with a headset? If you are, then the IPPA usually obscures the 'new call' and 'end call' softkeys that you might use if you leave the headset button lit. I guess this isn't the case, as you refer to lifting the receiver? Unless you have motorized lifters.. If that's what you have, you can try getting users to either :
    - Manage their onhook/offhook state using the headset key as if it was the speakerphone key (i.e. press it to hang up or pickup)
    - Use a headset/phone combination that supports HHC
    - Switch to CAD, or CAD-BE if you can't install PC software for some reason.
    3) No. The system is designed specifically so that this should never happen.
    4) No.
    5) Again, no... you can't customize the BIPPA service... If you use CAD or CAD-BE this wouldn't be an issue.

  • Workflow and General Use Questions

    Hello,
I'll apologize right off the bat for these novice question because I'm sure the information is probably somewhere in the forum, I just haven't been able to find it. I just purchased Aperture after completing the demo as my library is getting too large to manage using standard file folders. I'm now trying to figure out the best practices for workflow and general use before I invest some serious time into importing and keywording all my pictures.
    1) Store files in the there current location, or in the Aperture Library? It seems to me that once they are moved to the Aperture library, you can only access them from within Aperture. I'm thinking I would be better off leaving them in their current location. For one, if I want to quickly grab a picture as an attachment to an email or something it seems easier to grab it from the standard folders. Second (and more important) I do not have room to keep all my pictures on my Macbook, thus most of them are stored on the Time Capsule.
So... Keeping photos in their current location appears to be the best choice for me even though it adds an additional step every time I bring in new photos from my camera. Does this sound right?
    2) Is there a way to mark the photos that I have uploaded to my website (Smugmug)? Ideally, I would like to badge photos that have already been uploaded so I can quickly recognize them and ensure I'm not duplicating. I've considered using the rating, or keywords to indicate that a photo has been uploaded but both methods have disadvantages.
    3) Any suggestions for general workflow and organization resources (tutorials, books, websites, etc.)? I've looked at the videos on Apple's site but they obviously didn't get that detailed.
Thanks for the help, sorry for the length.

I recommend to Manage by Reference with Master image files stored on external hard drives (note that Aperture defaults to a Managed-Library configuration rather than a Referenced-Masters Library). Especially important for iMacs and laptops with a single internal drive. The workflow as described below in an earlier post of mine uses a Referenced-Masters Library.
I feel pretty strongly that card-to-Aperture or camera-to-Aperture handling of original images puts originals at unnecessary risk. I suggest this workflow, first using the Finder (not Aperture) to copy images from CF card to computer hard drive:
    • Remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into a memory card reader. Faster readers and faster cards are preferable.
    • Finder-copy images from memory card to a labeled folder on the intended permanent Masters location hard drive.
    • Eject memory card.
    • Burn backup hard drive or DVD copies of the original images (optional strongly recommended recommended backup step).
    • Eject backup hard drive(s) or DVDs.
    • From within Aperture, import images from the hard drive folder into Aperture selecting "Store files in their current location." This is called "referenced images." During import is the best time to also add keywords, but that is another discussion.
    • Review pix for completeness (e.g. a 500-pic shoot has 500 valid images showing in Aperture).
    • Reformat memory card in camera, and archive originals off site on hard drives and/or on DVDs.
Note that the "eject" steps above are important in order to avoid mistakenly working on removable media/backups.
Also note with a Referenced-Masters Library that use of the "Vault" backup routine backs up the Library only, not the Masters. Masters should be separately backed up, IMO a good thing from a workflow and data security standpoint.
Max out RAM in your MB and keep the internal drive less than 70% full.
    Good luck!

  • General JSP Questions

    Hi,
I work at a marketing company and here we still use Classic ASP, and now we're starting to learn and implement JSP on our projects.
We managed to get things working just like we do in ASP, however with just that I don't see any advantage at all, it's just that we currently are doing exactly the same thing we do with ASP, a form sends the user input to a code-page, we get all the parameters, insert/delete/update the DB, and return the user to another page. Everything's the same, except the language syntax that changed.
So this is what I'd like to ask, what are some common "best practices" of using the JSP technology?
As someone who's just started on JSP from ASP, what are the practical advantages?
(One of the advantages - or actually the only one I can think that really saves some time are the Beans)
    Any sources/tutorials are welcome.
    Thanks,
    Daniel

    DanCoelho wrote:

(One of the advantages - or actually the only one I can think that really saves some time are the Beans)None. JSP on its own is pretty useless.
The real power lies in the fact that you have a JVM available to you - in other words you can write and execute Java code. The trick is learning how to do this efficiently so that the web part isn't a bother, and that is where JSPs partly come into play.
The simplest of the simplest form of Java web development that is at least somewhat of a clean design is to combine Servlet and JSP technology. Servlets are simple java classes that can serve HTTP requests - generally you will use them to handle the business logic side of a request. Database queries, complex calculations and any other kind of data manipulation is done at this point - generally you'll write specific classes to actually do all the work, and you use those classes in your servlets.
What you do not want to do in Servlets is generate the view - the content sent back to the browser that the user will actually see. Generally this is HTML or XHTML content, but it could be something else entirely. JSPs, in combination with for example JSTL, are far better suited to fulfill this task. JSPs represent simple templates to massage data into page content, and the rule of thumb is that they are only correct when they contain absolutely no java code at all.
So the general flow of this is:
    - user goes to your website or clicks on a link or a button. This will trigger a servlet.
    - the servlet handles all the business logic that is required
    - when the servlet is done, it forwards control to a JSP
    - the JSP generates the view, based on data that was generated in the servlet
This may seem like a lot of work, but it really isn't once you get the hang of it. And there are still plenty of ways to make your life even easier still, using specific frameworks that exist such as Spring MVC or JavaServer faces.
Whatever choices you make, there is one thing that is true for all of them: before you can do anything in the Java web development world, you'll need to know core Java. Intimately.

  • New Portal Implementation Questions?

    Hi,
We've just started a Portal Implementation in our company. Our environment is as follow:
    - EP 6.0 SP9 (NW04 SR1 version)
    - SAP 4.6C System (WPPI installed)
    - Lotus Notes/Domino (we are using Domino LDAP)
    My Questions are as follow:
    1. Can we integrate Domino LDAP with portal? If not how can we access domino user database in this environment?Because all company users exist in domino database but small subset of company users have SAP user.
    2. Currently I've created a system for 46C r3 system in system landscape and set it to use UIDPW for user management. I've mapped one of portal user with a SAP user and created iviews to run with wingui and webgui. All worked successfully. My question is that if there is any wey to enable SAP users to logon Portal without mapping? Online Docs. says that it is not possible to use R3 systems other than based on 620 WAS as a datasource for UME.
    Regards

    Hi Huseyin,
You need to create system in EP.
    System administration>System Configuration>system landscape-->
    1) create one folder like "system"
    2) create system in the above folder
    3) Enter all the details of R/3 System
    4) create Iview and link to the R/3 system
you could allways look at the manual:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/0d/17df3d2cae445ae10000000a11405a/frameset.htm
    hope it helps,

  • Metro Ethernet implementation questions

I am planning a Metro Ethernet upgrade for a network I manage. This is the first time I’ve implemented Metro on any network. I’m looking for some suggestions and answers to a couple questions regarding this upgrade.
The current network is Hub and spoke connected by copper lines to 17 different locations from a DS3 @ our HQ. HQ also has a DS3 to the internet which the branch locations go out for internet. At our branches we have a private and public network on different subnets. Each branch location has either a T1 or bonded T1 connected to a Cisco 2801 router then to Netgear PoE managed switch(s).
The upgrade of the DS3 for internet is going to 100 meg. The data side will also be 100meg at HQ, 10meg to our small locations and 100meg to the large.
My question is what do I need to be aware of on our existing network that must change to get this working?
    1)      Will I simply go from the layer2 Metro Switch to our router?
    2)      Should I remove the router and go directly to the Netgear switch?
    3)      Do I need to VLAN the private and public networks?
    4)      Do I need to change routing tables?
    Thoughts and/or suggestions welcome.
Let me know if more information is required to assist in answers.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I think it would be better to include Cisco Account Manager/SE for this upgrade, they can guide you better and can come up with LLD for this upgrade, otherwise upgrading your 17 sites without proper planning can cause you serious issues.

  • XI Implementation Questions

    Hi All,
Suppose a customer wants to use XI.
What all questions should we ask them so that we can give them a estimate like What all applications they wud integrate. If they have XI or not....
Is there any standard template or standard set of questions for the same.
    Cheers,
    Sumit

    Hi Sumit,
The following are some of the questions:
    1. About Database from which u want to take the data,
push the data & on which XI should be there.
    2. How frequently data will be pushed by the sender
       systems.
    3. Do sender systems have the facility to push the data
      (Do they support XML).
    4. What will be the R/3 version.
    5. What will be Service Pack Level for XI Server.
    6. What kind of error handling is expected.
    7. What is the mode of all the interfaces (i.e.
       asynchronous or synchronous.
I hope these questions should be known before XI Implementation.

  • JCO Server implementation questions

    Hi experts,
I want to try to create a JCO Server with the JCO 3 library.
I'm kinda lost in all the links I've found since there is still a lot of things from the JCO 2 on the internet and I don't understand everything I'm doing.
Please note that there is already a working Java JCO server with old IBM tools and we need to migrate to JCO 3.
So here are my questions :
What do I have to do exactly in the sm59 transaction ?
Here is what I get in the RSGWLST transaction http://i.imgur.com/IRgAyO8.png http://i.imgur.com/YyfDQbt.png (Loic-PC is my machine so I guess my java jco server is up.) Is everything ok ?
I have followed this link (Java Program for Creating a Server Connection - Components of SAP Communication Technology - SAP Library) to create my java jco server. What exactly are ServerDataProvider.JCO_GWHOST, ServerDataProvider.JCO_GWSERV and above all ServerDataProvider.JCO_PROGID)
How do I testmy Java JCO server ? I understood that I have to call STFC_TRANSACTION in se37 where I put my jco destination (previously set up in sm59 ?) and a string but I have a dump when I'm tying that.
I hope someone can help me, everything is still really blurry to me.
    Regards
Here is the code I use to try to connect :
        static String SERVER_NAME1 = "JCO_SERVER";

        static String DESTINATION_NAME2 = "ABAP_AS_WITH_POOL";

    Hi Loic.
The properties GWHost is Gateway Host and GWSERV stands for Gateway Server.
Please look at this link to get more details:
Possible Parameters (SAP Library - Components of SAP Communication Technology)
Could you please put your full code for this class?
I'm saying this because the code you have wrote only creates the propreties file that JCO uses to configure the server but you have to run your server through the main statement.
You have to do something like that on your StfcConnectionHandler class.
    public static void main(String[] args) {

    See my example:
