Bold in Report paragraph body

This solution is for Oracle Report.
I create a letter where one part of the paragraph (v_meas)needs to be in bold only if the variable v_meas is not null. Below is my code for this paragraph.
Please, some body can tell me what I need to use.
Product Information:
Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.4.0 - 64bit Production
With the Partitioning, OLAP and Oracle Data Mining options
JServer Release 9.2.0.4.0 - Production
if(v_meas is null) then
v_body := '§ 10-33.02 - Community Small Business Enterprise Program Measure: ________' || CHR(10);
else
v_body := '§ 10-33.02 - Community Small Business Enterprise Program Measure: ' ||v_meas||CHR(10);
end if;

What I need to create is no label because the example that you give me are all fields.
Below is what I try to do in my report that create a letter (Oracle Report 9i)
I created a "Formula Column" for a paragraph in my letter and the ones that need to be on bold are ":advertised_date" field and the information after the word "Section:".
Thanks,
function CF_Responsible_Wages_BenefitsF return Char is
v_body varchar2(100):= NULL;
begin
--Heavy_Construction
if(:proj_heavy_construction_flag = 'Y') then
if(:advertised_date is not null)then
v_body := '§ 2-11.16 - Responsible Wages and Benefits Year: ' || :advertised_date || ' Section : ' || 'Heavy Const.' ||CHR(10);
else
v_body := '§ 2-11.16 - Responsible Wages and Benefits Year:________ ' ||'Heavy Const' ||CHR(10);
end if;
--Highway
elsif(:proj_highway_flag = 'Y') then
if(:advertised_date is not null)     then
v_body := '§ 2-11.16 - Responsible Wages and Benefits Year: '||to_char(:advertised_date, 'fmMM/DD/YYYY') || ' Section : ' || 'Highway'||CHR(10);
else
v_body := '§ 2-11.16 - Responsible Wages and Benefits Year:________ ' ||'Highway' ||CHR(10);
end if;
--Building
elsif(:proj_building_flag = 'Y') then
if(:advertised_date is not null)     then
v_body := '§ 2-11.16 - Responsible Wages and Benefits Year: ' || to_char(:advertised_date, 'fmMM/DD/YYYY') || ' Section : ' || 'Heavy Const.' ||CHR(10);
else
v_body := '§ 2-11.16 - Responsible Wages and Benefits Year:________ ' || ' Section : ' || 'Building' ||CHR(10);
end if;
else
v_body := '§ 2-11.16 - Responsible Wages and Benefits Year:________ Section:_______' ||CHR(10);

• RH8: Bold Text in Paragraph Appears Heavier in Firefox

Noticed recently that bolded text in a paragraph appears differently in Firefox than it does in IE and Chrome. In Firefox the bold text is heavier. We're creating webhelp output using RoboHelp 8 (8.0.2.208). Note that we have recently upgraded to Windows 7 and re-installed RoboHelp. We also upgraded to Firefox 9. We were not seeing this issue before the upgrades. See example below.
RoboHelp HTML:

Open Ports. Select to find hosts
with a particular open TCP or UDP port. Enter the port number in the field
provided. You may include up to 10 ports, separating each port with a
comma.

Appears like this in IE and Chrome (matches WYSIWYG and topic preview from RH):
Appears like this in Firefox (heavier bold font):
The paragraph style as defined in the CSS:
p {
font-size: 10pt;
margin-top: 3pt;
margin-bottom: 7.5pt;
font-family: Arial;
Any thoughts on why Firefox looks different? Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Hi,
Unless you have a style override somewhere where the font weight is set to 'bolder' or '900' or something, it is just the way Firefox renders it. You can use Firebug to check the CSS applied in Firefox. It may very well be that it's just a render thing as different browsers sometimes render things differently. Nothing to do about that.

• Emails appear in bold text (subject and body)

A few days after installing OS X Yosemite on my iMac, all of my Comcast emails appear in bold text (subject and body text). This makes it difficult to distinguish unread email from read email. I view email directly through the Comcast website (NOT with Outlook or Mail). This issue happens in Firefox and Safari. My email looks normal on other devices. I am working with Comcast to try to resolve the issue, but since it started a few days after upgrading to Yosemite, I thought I'd check here too.

• Separating paragraph body text from level 3, 4 & 5 headings in the TOC

Hi,
Could anyone help me know how the paragraph body text is separated from level 3, 4, or 5 headings in heading styles?
The APA Manual, 6th edition says that these level headings are immediately followed by the paragraph body text; but if I do that
and put the headings in word styles, the text is also added! How do I separate them?
Thanks.

If you have been using an old APA template (there is one setup for Word 2003, for example), or you have started from an old document set up for APA styling, then the chances are tht the Heading styles are set up wrongly. In those days you had to do all that
stuff with hidden paragraph marks etc. You should not have to do that in Word 2010.
In the old templates, the Heading styles were set up as "Paragraph" styles. You can find out which sort yours are by opening the document you are struggling with, finding the relevant Heading style name in the Home tab, Styles group, right clicking on it
and selecting "Modify...". For the new type of Heading style, you should see Style Type "Linked (paragraph and character)". In an older template, you will just see "Paragraph".
In the latter case, when you select the part of the paragraph text that you want to be in the ToC and apply the Heading style, the style wil be applied to the whole paragraph. That's why you used to have to split the paragraph into two, and hide the paragraph
mark that follows the heading part. But with the correct style definitions, it should work the way I described.
Another possibility is that you have the correct "linked" styles but they have been disabled. If you click in the box at the bottom right of the Home->Styles group, you should see the list of styles, and there is a box at the bottom that controls that
behaviour.
If you are using an old template, then my suggestion is that you start with a new one document o template designed for Word 2010. I'll have a look, but you may have your own sources for that.

• Ssrs 2008 r2 writingmode=rotate270 font is bold on report server

In a ssrs 2008 r2 report, I am using writingmode=rotate270 to change the direction of header columns for detailed data on the SSRS report. The font in visual studio is 'light'. However when the report is deployed to the report server, the font weight is
bold.
Thus can you tell me if there is a workaround to make the font not bold when it is executed on the report server? If so, can you tell me how to solve the font problem so the font is not bold when writingmode=rotate270 when executed on the report server?

Hi Wendy,
I am able to reproduce the issue in both SQL Server 2008 R2 RTM Reporting Services and the latest version of SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services (SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 CU10, Build number 10.50.4297). In addition, based on my test, it is fixed in SQL Server
2012 SP1 Reporting Services.
To work around this issue, you can place images in the column header cells and make the rotation of the text in the images. Besides, I would suggest you submitting a wish at

• Embedding report into body of email

Hi all,
We use CR2008 as well as Crystal Server 2008. Can I create a report which I can then import to Crystal Server which when it is generated, it sends it as the body of the email?
All reports we currently schedule through Crystal Server are attachments (Excel or PDF) in an email. What we want is for the report to be seen in the email so that the recipients view the resultant data without having to open an attachment, it is just there when they open the email.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
There is no tool "out of the box" that will allow you to embed Crystal Report in email body.
You will need to use third party tool to achieve this.
General Workflow where I have seem people used in the past
Export the RPT to PDF then manually save the PDF as image (Oleobject/jpeg).
You may want to check the SAP BO SDK forum for help on writing the script.
But be warn of embedding as email body, if you have multiple pages in your Crystal report, you will get a very long email body or in this case a big image.

• Report by email with whole report as body and attached file

Hello,
I try to send my Reports by mail and have to attach a file to the report.
But this filename is't a static one. Is there a work-around to attach a dynamic file to my e-mail.
Here is a part of my destination.xml file:
<foreach>
<mail id="DEST1" to="&<address>" subject="&<subject>">

<include src="mainSection"/>

<attach srcType="file">
<include src="/coup_cache/&<filename>"/>
</attach>
</mail>
</foreach>

Is it possible to create my own xml tag to solve this problem?
something like <myAttach file="xyz"/>
and something build up the necessary tag.
<attach srcType="file">
<include src="xyz"/>
</attach>
I don't know much about xml. I read something about xsl to do that?
Any ideas?
looking forward to read your hints

• Is there any way to schedule the webi report as body of the mail

Hi All,
I have a bit different requirement. I need to schedule the webi reports to BlackBerry Mobile .
The report should be displayed not as an attachment or URL but should be the body of the mail.
Is there any Trick or Tip to do that.
Thanks in Advance

You could schedule the reports to run as an Excel or PDF document and the destination as a folder on a server. Then after the reports are sent to the destination, you could use the Program Job Server to run a script which parses the files line-by-line and creates an email. It's not the most elegant solution but in theory it should work.

• Timing of Report (function body returning sql) w/ pagination

Hey -
Wondered if someone can provide some insight here...
I have a report that is dynamically created by calling a function that returns sql. Since it may return a few hundred results I have pagination turned on allowing the user to choose rows per page, and am showing X-Y with next/prev links.
Before displaying the report the user has to choose some criteria to narrow down the result set - I'm finding something that I think is a bit strange in that it takes more time for the page to render when zero results are found vs. 100's of results. If I run the function and take the sql it creates, I can return 0 rows in .2 seconds and 508 rows in .5 seconds so I think the sql itself is fine. Other than debugging timings, how can I find out what is taking so long?
Debug for 0 results:
0.07: Region: Program Forecast (viewing SAVED values)
5.14: show report
5.15: determine column headings
5.15: parse query as: ####
5.15: print column headings
5.15: rows loop: 15 row(s)
10.32: Computation point: AFTER_BOX_BODY
Debug for 508 results (in chunks of 15):
0.07: Region: Program Forecast (viewing SAVED values)
2.76: show report
2.76: determine column headings
2.77: parse query as: ####
2.94: print column headings
2.94: rows loop: 15 row(s)
6.52: Computation point: AFTER_BOX_BODY
So it took only 6.5 seconds to pull 508 rows, look at my pagination and pull the first x rows, but 10.32 seconds to pull 0 rows and show me the no data found message. Even stranger is that in the 0 rows result it looped and took 5 seconds before it hit the next point (5 seconds doing what??)
Any ideas? I'm a little baffled here...I guess the next step is to trace it but I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas in the interim.

Where is the embarrassed icon?
After painstakingly copying over each item to a new page to test, I figured out performance starting sucking big time once I put a button out there that apparently had a less than optimal exists clause in it.

• 6D flash sync problem; flash not reporting to body? Firmware glitch? User error?

I was shooting my 6D today at the aviary. I believe I was in TV mode. Had my Canon 320EX speedlite on. I had been shooting with the flash off but turned it on. The shutter was set at 1/400th. The ISO was, I know, still set from the last room I was in, which was dark, so it is at ISO 3200.
All the birds depicted were actually whole animals; no half-birds were anywhere to be seen.
Anyway, the camera failed to reduce the shutter to the camera's max sync speed (1/180) like you expect it to do. As a result, the flash was clearly out of sync with the shutter.
Also, the metadata says "flash did not fire". But obviously it did fire.
Could this be a firmware glitch? Bad camera? Some obvious user error I am overlooking?

Assuming the flash & camera are 100% compatible (newer models of bodies aren't always happy with older strobes) AND based on some problems I've had with my 1Ds2 & 580 EX it may be that the flash isn't as far forward into the hot shoe as possible, or even if it is it's not making PERFECT connections on all 5 terminals. I've had that problem a few times & now check for it. If I don't get the result I expect on my test shots (to check exposure) I wiggle & re adjust until I do get the right result.

• Report Painter-To Bold a Text

Hi,
Can we make a Text as Bold in Report Painters I have tried with formatting through colours but it is not working. Can anyone guide me.
Regards
Sunil

Are you working with Microsoft Excel Integration? In that case, you can have formatted texts.
If you'd like to have a line in bold, just go to the Upper Menu -> Formatting -> Report Layout
Make sure that in the Tab Page/Control the Standard Colors Flag is NOT activated and in the Tab Rows, activate the Flag Mark Totals
Hope this will help!

• Applying paragraph style makes it BOLD

I have lots of nice paragraph styles, and NONE of them specify bold in their definitions. Yet, every time I apply one of these styles, the paragraph is bold. I don't know what's going on. Do you?

I've looked at your file, and basically it's what SRiegle has said, but I'm going to go into more detail to try to help you understand what's happening.
If you look at the Character Style panel with no text selected you'll see the Bold style highlighted. This means it is set to the default and all new text you enter will have the Bold style. You want to change this to [None].
Because the text all has Bold applied, at some point the font weight was changed manually on the paragraphs to Regular. This becomes an override of the character style and if you click in the text you'll see the character style change to Bold+. The paragraph style shows no plus sign because character styles are not considered overrides.
Now the tricky part. When you change the paragraph style, the local override on the character style is removed, but not the Bold style itself, so the new paragraph style is applied along with the Bold character style.
Is that making any sense?
