Bonjour error updating itunes

I get a message saying there is a new version of ITunes which I try to install.  Before the installation has completed I get an error saying it can't find bonjour msi file and I can't find it either, but is this required? Is there a workaround or an easy fix that does not involve uninstalling itunes and starting over?

(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Error Updating itunes

When trying to update iTunes from 7.02 to 8 I keep getting an error message: Could not access network location iTunes\.
I get this same error when trying to remove iTunes as well. I have updated everything I can on Windows xp as well as followed all the trouble shooting options that apple provides.
Can anyone out there help. Thank you.

    For emrhenter
When you get this kind of message about not being able to access a network location, it usually means you need to do an installer cleanup with the Microsoft Installer cleanup utility.
I have given a method for full removal of iTunes and related programs with cleanup, but you might get away with just doing the iTunes bits.
    == uninstall with cleanup ==
Download a fresh copy of iTunes and the stand alone version of Quicktime (the one without iTunes)
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program.
To run the program – All Programs>>Windows Install Cleanup
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
Now use the following method to remove iTunes and its components:
    XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    Vista
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
*If you hit a problem with one of the uninstalls don't worry*, carry on with the deleting of files and folders as directed in the method.
When you get to deleting Quicktime files in the system32 folder as advised in the method, you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.
    Restart your PC.
Run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. (Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up)
Remove any references you find to the programs you removed - strictly speaking you only need to worry about those programs where the uninstall failed.
If you don’t see an entry for one of the programs that did not uninstall, look out for blank entries or numeric entries that look like version numbers e.g. 7.x for Quicktime or 1.x for Bonjour.
    restart your PC
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check that it works.
    If it does, install iTunes.

  • Error Updating iTunes On Windows

Sorry I can't seem to find where to start a new topic...
For the last few months my Dell Studio is asking me to update iTunes/Quicktime but each time I try it gives an error and then backs out of the update. When I connect my iTouch it also tells me I need to update and I get the same issues. Why can't I update any more? It was working fine prior to Sept/Oct.
I am running Windows 7 64 bit system.
I've asked questions here before but never get a reply. For the money I paid for the iTouch they should offer a basic support instead of charging you as soon as the warranty runs out in a few months.
Thanx for any help you can provide.
    <Edited by Host>

    As close as I can recall the error was;
    Error getting file security
    Quicktime 7.66.????(not sure exact #'s)
    Get last error;5
I tried to unistall Quicktime and all others associated with it (ie, Bonjour, Apple applications, etc)but it would give that same error then stop the uninstall process.
    Thanx for the quick reply

  • Multiple errors updating iTunes.  Initially solved but now worse...

    Hello,
I'm on Windows 7 64 bit and I was trying to update my itunes from 6.0 to 6.1  Initally I was getting this problem trying to upgrade: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3589490?start=0&tstart=0
The solution posted there seemed to work.  The fix program worked on itunes and everything was uninstalled fine.  I downloaded and installed 6.1 now and when it boots I get the message:  unknown error occured -42408.  Moreover, it no longer recognizes my phone (8g 4 verizon cdma) and is asking me to restore it.  Searches for this error message haven't yeilded posts as helpful as I found with my first problem.
Can anyone give me any tips on what to do about this?

okay it says i need to configure my IPOD. So i've already downloaded the most recent ipod updater.
When i connect my ipod to my CPU my entire computer freezes.
What do i do? please help guys/girls!

  • Error update itunes

    Hi all,
I hope someone can help me with the following issue. Please note that I am not a genius when it comes to Macs or computers, so you'll have to explain me what to do in simple words ;-)
Whenever there's a new update for Itunes, my iMac gives the following 'error': it says (translated into English): please shut down the following programme before continuing installation: Itunes.
But my itunes is not open. The download never finishes no matter how many times I try again, or how long I wait. Something goes wrong every time I try and it's starting to annoy me. I am unable to get new downloads.
    What do I do?

  • Error updating iTunes to 11.1

I click check for update. Then a prompt comes up asking do I want to update to 11.1. It starts downloading than it says "Erroe downloading if this happens again do it manually by clicking on tools > download only itunes." Help (This is Windows 7)

Did the same... Checked for updates then used the /Tools menu to download.  That silently downloaded a new set of .msi installers to...
         C:\Users\{usename}\AppData\Local\Apple\Apple Software Update
....that I was able to use to manually update to 11.1.

I checked my Services console and Bonjour was started. I can also stop and start it without issue. I searched for these errors, but most of what I found was trouble getting the Bonjour service to start and as you can see, this is not my issue.
I have also tried to update iTunes with Bonjour stopped and disabled and with my Eset NOD32 Antivirus software disabled, but neither of these steps made any difference. I do not have a third-party firewall on my PC, but I am using Windows firewall. I have also tried disabling the Windows firewall, but this made no difference.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • When I try to update iTunes 10.3, Insufficient Privileges error. C:\programData\{429CAD59-35B1-4DBC-BB6D-1DB24-6563521}\x86\DIFxAPI.dll

When I try to update iTunes 10.3, the installer finishes downloading but then this message appears "errors occured while installing updates. If the problem persist, select Tools, "just download" and instal them manually"
so I go and do that, select Tools and then just download. Then when it finishes loading it goes back to the Apple Software Updater and pups up another window at this location C:\Users\brandsmart\AppData\Local\Apple\Apple Software Update
there I find AppleApplicationSupport, AppleMobileDeviceSupport, Bonjour, iTunes, QuickTime and SetupAdmin. So when I select iTunes it starts downloading it again, but this time as if it was the first time (not an update)..
It takes me to "Welcome to the iTunes Installer" I click next, I accept the terms and conditions and click next, takes me to the "Installations Options" I check and click "Install" then click "accept" then "accept" again, so it starts to download but then when it finishes downloading this meassage appears "the installer has insuffisient privileges to modify this file: C:\ProgramData\{429CAD59=35B1-4DBC-BB6D-1DB24-6563521}\x86\DIFxAPI.dll.
and there are three options- "Abort, Retry and Ignore." If I "ignore", nothing happens, just closes and pups right back up. If I click "retry," just the same, closes and opens right back up with the same options. If I "abort" it asks me if I'm sure to cancel, so I click "yes" so it says "rolling back action." when it's done it just closes everything and if I try to update, it's the same story all over again.
If I go to the "Advanced Security Settings for iTunes" I can see my name and two more options, all of them say "allow and full control" so I'm guessing that's not the problem but I don't really know.
Please somebody help me!! I don't know what to do.

the installer has insuffisient privileges to modify this file: C:\ProgramData\{429CAD59=35B1-4DBC-BB6D-1DB24-6563521}\x86\DIFxAPI.dll.
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • HT6001 I have tried numerous time to update iTunes to Version 11.1.4.  Each time it has failed. I get the message of "This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found".  Also I get a message of "Error 7". Advise please.

I have tried numerous time to update iTunes to version 11.1.4.  It has failed every time.  Now I can't even get into iTunes on my PC.  The message I get is "This application has failed to start because MSVCR60.dll was not found.  Re-installing the application may fix the problem."  Okay. Which application?  What steps are needed for this process?
Also, I get this message "iTunes was not installed correctly.  Please reinstall iTunes.  Error 7 (Windows error 126)"  Could someone please assist me in the steps necessary to remedy this issue.  Thanks.

For many users at this point in time (iTunes 11.1.4.62) uninstalling iTunes alone is not enough and they may need to undertake further steps...
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.
