Bookmark in the middle of a page?

Is there a way to set a bookmark in the middle of a very long web page?
There's a series of long articles that I'm reading, and it'd be nice to be able to mark where I am on the page and come back to it the next day.
(There are no convenient anchors, etc, on the pages)

Into the address bar, type:
javascript:alert(window.pageYOffset)
This pops up a window with the current scroll amount.
Then, to go back, type:
javascript:window.scrollTo(0,the_number);
Works fine. Glad I thought of it. Might make a nice add-on to Safari (way beyond my meager talents, though).

How do I create a link to the middle of a page with Inherit Zoom?

I keep going around and around on this. I am using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro and I'm trying to create an internal link in the PDF to go to the middle of the page somewhere else in the same document. I don't want to change the user's zoom level.
I can create a bookmark that does this by adding tags and having the bookmarks created from those tags (which is a ludicrious process, but at least a way). But links don't seem to attach to bookmarks or tags.
I can create a link that does exactly this by creating a document in MS Word, using styles and links to those styles and then saving it as a PDF. So I know the PDF itself can do this, I just can't figure out how to do it through Adobe.
Is there any way to create a link to a tag or to a bookmark? Setting a link to Page View always changes the zoom level, and then if I change the zoom back to Inherit Zoom the link just goes to the top of the page.
Any ideas?

Hrm, I feel like I'm just missing something obvious. Here are the exact steps I'm taking:
Have zoom level up high enough so you're only seeing part of a page.
Click "Add or Edit Link"
Draw a box around the text.
Link Appearance:
Link Type: Invisible Rectangle
Highlight Style: Invert
Link Action: Go to a page view
Click "Next"
Scroll down so I'm looking at the middle of the next page.
Click "Set Link".
Right-click on the link-box and click "Properties..."
Click "Actions" tab and then "Edit" and change the Zoom to "Inherit Zoom". "OK" back to the page.
Change zoom level, use the hand icon and click on the link.
I'm taken to the top of the correct page and my zoom level doesn't change. I am not taken to the middle of that page, though.
Do you experience different behaviour?

How do I get my google search bar back in the middle of my page insead of the Blank searh engine that is on my start up page now

Before I did the last upgrade with Firefox, I had the Google search bar in the middle of my start page. Now , after the upgrade, my Google search bar is up on a tool bar at top of the page and the when you type something in the large Firefox box in the middle of the page does nothing even though it has the Search box to the right of it. The restore last session is under that. I just have a large box in the middle of start page that does nothing. I wish that was my Google search box again.

What you are looking at on the web page is a '''search form''', not a search bar. Mozilla changed the default home page to '''about:home''' which is supposed to be faster because it is on your computer, but they piled on a few ornaments. There is a space which is essentially advertising space for Mozilla, or to tell you that you have a previous session available below the search form area.
You can replace that page with a real Google Search page http://www.google.com which like other Google pages has links at the top to other Google applications and tells you if you are logged into Google such as for GMail.

Then ask whoever sent it to you to remove it and create a new PDF.
There is one thing you can check first and that’s layers in the PDF. Perhaps whoever created it put that on a top layer and you can just turn it off.

Start with Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file delete the contents the following folder:
User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks, 10.9, go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.
If that doesn't help continue with:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

Please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Printer stops in the middle of a page

stops printing in the middle of a sheet of paper and error code 0xb981b005 165:hw_interupt-hwv2.c comes up. The printer still says it is printing, but won't cancel or turn off. This has happened over and over. We unplug it and sometimes it will start and print a few things left in memory and then stop in the middle of a paper. Now the error code is 0x8810a620. We really like this printer and will appreciate any help you can give us. Thank you.

Hi doc37324,
You don't indicate which printer that you have. Depending on the printer, there is a list of Ox error codes and documents for troubleshooting the associated codes. Most of the codes associate with an ink cartridge failure, but not always.
You could find your product support page for your product and input 0x in the search field. In some cases, two documents might show up. One of them walks you through how to reset your product. I've attached the link to that one here. I believe it is for most Officejets and Photosmart printers.

White box in the middle of my page??

'm using Dreamweaver CS4. When I design my page, I have changed the background settings to black. However, in EVERY browser I have tested the site in, the page shows up with black on the left and right sides of the page but all of my content is in a big white box in the middle. How do I change that part, or get rid of it? I've got the coding for the black background in the page properties under CSS and HTML.

Code? Page link? Can't help unless we see what's going on. It might just be that your container table/div has a white background assigned to it.

I'm sorry that your file didn't convert as expected. Please try the conversion from within Reader, and disable OCR by following the instructions in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (OCR) when converting PDF to Word or Excel. Disabling OCR can solve some conversion issues (but note that if your original PDF contains images with text, that text won't be selectable/searchable) in Word.

Firefox is taking a long time to open. When it does open, I get a pop up box with "Script not running". Bookmarks on my tool bar don't load. Scrolling is unreliable--it will stop in the middle of a page

First off I need a little more information to help with troubleshooting. You say that an error occurs when you "try to re-open the same problem app before the old session completely exits". Does the error have an error code or dialog display? It may also be possible to receive an error log. Here is a knowledge base that explains how to retrieve error logs.

Is it possible to execute a Bookmarked query the first time a page is rende

We are in the process of creating certain dashboards for our product using Endeca.
We have defined some metrics in the Metric Bar component, and want some useful information to be visible to the user the first time the user comes to this page.
As of now, these metrics look to be very generic in nature, but give useful information once the user starts searching. Some examples of these Metrics are - Supplier Count, Category count, etc. These won't make much sense to the end user without a context. Hence, we want this context to be present the very first time the user comes to this page.
The easiest solution seems to be creating a Bookmark, and being able to execute that the first time the page renders.
Is this possible to do? If yes, how?
Also, are there any other ways to achieve this result, other than using the Bookmark component?

Is this possible to do? If yes, how?To achieve this option, first create the bookmark and then under action within the bookmark portel click on Create Link. Copy everything after the question mark. Next go to manage package and paste the copied text into the Query String text box.
Also, are there any other ways to achieve this result, other than using the Bookmark component?Option two would be to utilize deep linking method to access the page.

don't want the over all dimensions of my page to change so I want
to have a window within my page that will have a scroll bar
allowing the visitor to scroll throught the text without having to
scroll down the whole page.

JEditorPane - Determining whether it is in the middle of a page load or not

I would like to ask if it is possible (and how) one would go about determining whether a JEditorPane has finished its loading sequence of an HTML page.
At the moment I implement a property change listener (which works fine, as when I load a page, the status bar changes and does the rest) what I want now is (as I have implemented tabbed browsing) is to determine whether a page is a)Loaded or b)Loading and set the status bar to reflect this whenever I change tabs.
The only problem I seem to have is I can't seem to find a method which returns (I would imagine) a boolean saying 'True or False' to a page load.

Your listener should receive a second, "page" property change event when the document has finished loading (the first is a "document" property change event). If you have received a document property change but not a page property change, then the document is still loading. Look at the javadoc for JEditorPane.setPage(URL) for details...

My favorite browser Safari (5.1.5 ) has stopped working. Yes I know is on a PC. But is been very good to me for a long time, untill about two months ago. I keep getting a pop up message saying "Safari has stopped working" I will close the pop up message and continue working but within a few minute, the message will pop up again. The browser opens up fast as always and runs fine but the message is a pain and annoying. I'm running Firefox now , but I want my Safari back . Please help.

I generated the problem report similar to the above screen shot " by way of IE 9 " but will not let me copy and paste the contents as a screen shot in reply to your post here . Copy to clipboard did not work either. I might be doing something wrong. Oh well.
By the way , the only difference is- The Problem Event Name of mine is not BEX. but rather : APPCRASH. Fault Module Name : JavaScriptCore.dll. Fault Module Version: 7534.55.2.1.
