Boost build broken by update

After the recent update boost build does not work.
My ~/user-config.jam is empty.
main.cpp:
int main (void) { return 0; }
Jamroot:
exe main : main.cpp ;
Build:

To debug this problem, try the --debug-generators option.

IMHO, report a bug!
FYI, I can reproduce your problem with current boost 1.54.0-4 package. The Boost SVN's version of Boost.Build works like charm.

  • Flash Builder 4 standalone on win7 64bit is broken after update

Today Adobe Updater promted that there are updates for Adobe Flash Builder 4 and Photoshop CS5. The update downloaded and installed without any errors and Photoshop is still working fine for me. But when I open Flash Builder I get a bunch of error messages and can't use Flash Builder any more. Here are screenshots of what the errors looks like:
Sadly not only the Flash Builder perspective is affected but all other perspectives (SVN, Debugging, Profiling) are throwing errors too.
These are the steps I tried to fix these errors - without success:
    - switching back to my personal workspace (after the update another workspace was selected)
    - opening Flash Builder with the "-clean" parameter (this worked for me several times when plugins didn't want to install properly)
    - opening Flash Builder with administration rights
    - checking inside Flash Builder for any updates
None of these steps worked for me and I don't know how to fix this problem. Has anyone experienced the same errors after the 4.0.1.-update or are there any infos I missed?
    Any help would be appreciated!

  • SDK Build Broken

I was following the commit logs and saw that http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/SDK-18564 bug about the air updater framework being used with gumbo had been fixed.
I updated my trunk and tried to compile and got an error trying to compile the rsls. So I switched the i10 branch and now I have an error building the headless airupdater.

Am I missing something or did a checking fail?

  • How do I build a user update page

I am trying to build a user update page that only the user
can update if they have the correct username and password. I have
tried a number of ways, but haven't come anywhere near to acheiving
    it.
I am guessing I need to correctly construct the log in page,
and also have the recordset constructed correctly on the update
page to ensure that only the associated information to the
usermname and password are accessible to this page.
Can someone here supply me with a tutorial so I can figure
    out this dilema.
    Thanks.
    Mat

You could use a Table to set up your information in Pages 5.2, unfortunately it has a bug that makes the table moire or less unusable after a few pages.
Contacts stores all your Address Book information. NJust add all the name, telephone number, address etc and there is an additional field for birthdays, anniversaries etc. Anything else you can put in the notes:
    http://computers.tutsplus.com/tutorials/contacts-101-a-beginners-guide-to-contac ts-on-os-x--mac-51751
Calendar lets you run separate sets of dates in a desktop calendar, which can include birthdays, anniversaries or any single or recurring events. Any names you use here will be cross referenced to Contacts.

  • AcroForm FDF Template functionality broken by updates

We have many cases where we build an FDF file that went sent to the browser causes a PDF to be assembled (and form fields filled in) from multiple PDFs containing acroForm templates.  Each time an Acrobat patch is applied by my company, this functionality is broken.  While broken, the PDF is still assembled but all of the form fields are blank.  FDFs that do not rely on templates and simply fill in a standard acroForm work fine.  Also, the template based PDF technology still works if loaded into Acrobat OUTSIDE the browser, it is only broken in the browser.  This tells me that the FDF is constructed correctly.
To fix the problem we must run a repair from within Acrobat on each client machine to restore the functionality.  However, version 9.3.4 appears to be the nail in the coffin and a repair will no longer fix the problem.
Has Adobe dropped support for this functionality?  I know this is the 'old' way of doing things but it will be a massive task to update all of our forms.

    Was this issue ever resolved?
I see similar behaviour with an FDF I hand crank.
On my XP machine with Adobe Reader 9.4, the PDF opens empty.
On my other XP machine (also on a Vista box  and a Windows 7 box) with Adobe Reader 9.0, everything is good to go.
Is there a 'patch' available for 9.4?
Or am I missing something here?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    .......Cameron

  • Poor signal in our building after 4g update to city.

Recently Verizon updated our town "Vincennes Indiana" to 4g coverage. After that date everyone in our office has had troubles getting any bars, that intern makes phone calls and text msgs imposable. We have had several people here call verizon and at first they always suggest that we upgrade their devices, but, it seems odd that it used to work...
They have suggested that we purchase a booster for our building. I feel that there are 10 unhappy customers in our building and a booster should be provided to keep your customers happy.
I don't see them ever providing us with one, so what are the best boosters out there? We have a very slow internet connection at our office, so I don't think that the SCS-2U01 would work for us, I have searched for bandwith usage information and can't find any. I don't want to put a device on our network that is going to choke our internet connection.
Is there a 4g/3g signal booster out there that just repeats the signal. We get good signal outside the building....?
Any help would be great.... a free signal booster or a free SCS-2U01 to test would be even better(verizon).
    Thanks,

    Hello Tom,
THere are indeed such signal boosters. I have been using this one below for about a year. After implementation, i jumped from barely 1 bar to 3-4 bars constantly, so it was definitely worth the purchase.
The signal booster I got is this wilson 4G LTE 700 that works on the 700MHz frequency used by Verizon's 4G service.
    http://www.quantum-wireless.com/wilson-801865-signal-booster.html
It seems that it is also available as a kit, including antennas and cables, that you would need anyway to set up the whole system. http://www.quantum-wireless.com/wilson-801865k1-qkit-signal-booster.html
They didn't have the kit when I purchased it, but they were very helpful explaining everything I needed to make this work.
This is just one example of 4G signal amplifiers available out there. But if you go with Wilson Electronics, Cellphone-Mate or Wi-Ex (i'm not sure Wi-ex have a 4G booster, though), you can't really go wrong.
Even though it may be cheaper, I wouldn't advise getting a signal booster from Amazon, simply because this type of system needs some tweaking based on your situation (the type of outdoor antenna you need, the indoor coverage you want, etc.).
    Anyway, hope this helps.
    All the best

    Hi Erez,
Could you please share us the WindowsUpdate.log file here?
From the information youposted, it seems to be Windows Update can't check for the updates, you may try to run Windows Update Troubleshooter first, it that didn't help, run the following command using the Windows 10 9926 ISO to repair:
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image
    /RestoreHealth /source:WIM:F:\sources\install.wim:1
    /LimitAccess
F: Drive stands for the mounted Windows 10 build 9926 ISO.
    Best regards

  • Multiseat with Lightdm broken after updating Mesa

    Hi,
I've been using a multiseat configuration for months now, and it was working almost perfectly (almost - multiseating is far from being really stable yet IMHO, but anyway).
I updated mesa-libgl a few days ago and confirmed packages replacement, but right after rebooting my second seat didn't work anymore. The display stays black and no login screen shows up, although I suppose a signal is still sent as the monitor doesn't go into sleep mode. The first seat on the other side is working as usual, no difference noted.
In the processes, I can only see one Xorg instance (used by the first seat), when I'm supposed to have tow instances, one for each seat and with different parameters. It's like the second seat is crashing, but I can see no trace of such crash in the logs (kernel.log or everything.log). Even the Xorg.1.log contains all the informations as if the display was running fine.
The day after updating Mesa, I also updated Lightdm but it didn't change anything (I had a brief hope for a moment).
My configuration is the following :
        - Nvidia GTX 760: used on seat0 as dual-head with Nouveau driver (Layout-Main in Xorg)
        - Intel GMA: used on seat1 on single-head with Intel driver (Layout-Aux in Xorg)
I'm using Lightdm with this configuration:
    [LightDM]
    minimum-vt=1
    run-directory=/run/lightdm
    [SeatDefaults]
    greeter-session=lightdm-gtk-greeter
    greeter-show-manual-login=true
    session-wrapper=/etc/lightdm/Xsession
    greeter-setup-script=/usr/bin/numlockx on
    [Seat:0]
    xserver-command=/usr/bin/X :0 -sharevts
    xserver-layout=Layout-Main
    [Seat:1]
    xserver-command=/usr/bin/X :1 -sharevts -novtswitch
    xserver-layout=Layout-Aux
The Xorg configuration for the seats is divided into two files:
    /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-serverlayout-main.conf

When I disable the primary seat configuration in Xorg files (I just prevent the file from being loaded), and after I restart Lightm via
    # systemctl restart lightdm
the display shows up correctly on the secondary seat (and not on the primary, which is logical so far). So in the end it seems I just cannot have both seat running at the same time, but individually they work fine.
My logical assumption is that the recent upgrade of the Mesa packages somehow broke this configuration, but I cannot find why and how.
    FYI, here's what I tried:
    - play with Intel drivers options in Xorg (NoAccel, DRI, ...)
    - play with Xorg options on the command line of each seat (-sharevts, -novtswitch)
    - switch to Nvidia proprietary drivers (but here also, only the primary seat works, but that may be for a totally different reason, which is why I used Nouveau ever since I set up this configuration)
Here are the Xorg log files:

  • IGoogle (and perhaps others) broken after updating to 6.0.2 -- broken for ALL versions of Firefox now.

    Hi folks,
Note: I've found a way to post images... here they are...
    [http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j480/_Melk_/iGoogle_Firefox_broken2.png iGoogle Firefox Broken (same in version 5.x, 6.x & 7.x)]
[http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j480/_Melk_/iGoogle_IE9_Working.png iGoogle Firefox IE9 Working (was like this on FF too before last update)]
This is a good one so bear with me, I'll try to be as precise as I can.
I updated FF to 6.0.2 yesterday and since then iGoogle (and perhaps other pages.. not sure on this) does not display correctly anymore.
Most evident is the fact that the links "Advanced Search" and "Language Tools" shown (usually) on the right side of the search edit box, don't show up anymore.
Other changes are the graphics which are used by the gadgets. In IE9 & FF before the update, each gadget showed round corners, not anymore in FF after update. Also, if I try to change the theme, the buttons "Add This" don't show up in FF now.
Now, here's the kicker! I completely removed Firefox from my system, meaning uninstalled it using the remove settings as well. I also deleted my profile folder & the Mozilla Firefox folder after the uninstall. Then I reinstalled version FIVE (5.0) to see if I could revert to the why things were back then, and behold, same problem!! So now, I can't repair my firefox to work properly even if I return to older versions!? wow
Tried system restore to a few days ago, that didn't fix it.
Tried version 5.x, 6.x and even the beta 7.x (all from scratch after uninstalling and deleting the profile folder + program files(x86) Mozilla folder) --- still NO FIX! ack! ;)
Frankly, I'm at my wits end on this one. I usually can repair pretty much anything computer/OS related, but this one has me stumped.
Thanks in advance for ANY help provided.. much appreciated :)
    /cheers
P.S. I also tried safe mode (took the broken FF picture in Safe Mode), but it has the same issues. In other words, I'm now officially unable to have ANY version of Firefox display iGoogle correctly anymore (5.x, 6.x, even beta 7.x). Be it bare bone, with or without addons, etc etc. All this caused by updating to 6.0.2 from 6.0.1.
Note that I've done tons of updates before without any issues. Also been using FF for the last 6+ years I think (been a while ;) )

Turns out that it's iGoogle Styling that has changed! Not a Firefox bug (although there are bugs in the new iGoogle).
The changes to my homepage (iGoogle) happened just as I was updating 6.0.2. So this led me to believe it was a Firefox bug, and since IE9 still shows the OLD style on iGoogle, it reinforced this belief.
After reading up on it on the Google forums, and chatting with a great tech support on Mozilla tech, I realized it wasn't Firefox. So you can dismiss this as a human error ;)
    /cheers

    Solution:
    prerequisites: xorg-xev
    i) get the keyodes with dmesg | tail  {i used the eXX number, not the hex}
ii) test the scancode to keycode binding using
    setkeycodes [scancode_you_found] [keycode]
    and then
    xev
. You want your key to show up as "XF86KbdBrightnessUp/Down", my keycodes were 229 and 230
iii) make the change permanant by:
    creating a new service
    /etc/systemd/system/setkeycodes.service
    [Unit]
    Description=Change keycodes at boot
    [Service]
    Type=oneshot
    ExecStart=/usr/bin/setkeycodes [scancode] [keycode]
    ExecStart=/usr/bin/setkeycodes [scancode] [keycode]
    [Install]
    WantedBy=multi-user.target
    and enabling the service
    systemctl enable setkeycodes

  • Hyperlinks broken after updating to 9.3.4

Since updating Adobe Standard to 9.3.4, all our hyperlinks are broken.  It appears that if we put the linked document (Excel or Word) in the same path as the PDF (ie; both PDF and document are on the desktop) then the links work.  However, the way our files are set up, all the PDF's are in one directory and all the linked documents are in a different location.  They worked fine prior to the update; now none of them work.
I have tested this on two other computers.  Works fine prior to running the update.  Once the update is installed, none of the links work.

I am still having problems trying to open a wmv file. I put the wmv in the same folder as the pdf yet it still will not open for me.
I have a pdf in a root that links to a pdf \folder\folder\1.pdf then that links to a 2.pdf in the same folder. Then 2.pdf has a link to open a wmv that is in the same folder.
Help on this will be greatly appreciated.

  • Youtube broken after update!

I've updated to the latest OS (5.1) on my Apple TV 3.
YouTube, WSJ, MLB all have been broken since then.
I cannot login, search or watch any video on the Youtube app what-so-ever.
    Stragely, Vimeo is still working.
I also noticed that when I go to Settings->General->About, activation status is 'failed'.
Has anyone gotten a solution, or solutions, to these problem?

My AppleTV (3.0.1) can successfully login to youtube but did not show my favorites.
As a workaround, I went to youtube, logged in to my account and shared my favorites.
P.S. Might be that YouTube changed it's APIs... Perhaps a new AppleTV release (3.0.2?)
will use the documented YouTube Data API.

  • What PC to build? An update...

What PC to build, updated January 2012
A question often asked is what system to build for NLE.
The previous article about this topic dates back to March 2010, so it was due an update because there were so many new developments in the past two years, including CS5.5
Basically you can think along three roads, a budget PC, an economical PC and the warrior PC. Notice that MAC is not mentioned here. There are three reasons for that, one is I'm not qualified to really advise on MAC's, two is that they are way overpriced and three they are severely limited in component choices. So this is all about PC.
Whether you want to have a budget, economical or warrior PC, there are a number of common components that you will always need, a case, a PSU, CPU cooler, monitor, keyboard, mouse, DVD/BR burner and stuff like that so I'm not going into those components, with the exception of case, PSU and CPU cooler.
    CASE:
While the case of your choice is often determined by looks and what appeals to you (or your CFO, the wife), I want to stress that for all categories, budget, economical or warrior, it is better to use a BIG tower, instead of a mid tower.
Why, you may wonder. Actually there are a lot of reasons. Mid towers can limit your choices in CPU coolers, because the case is not wide enough to install certain CPU coolers. The height of the cooler does not fit in the case. They can limit your choice of video card, because these have grown in length significantly and mid towers often do not allow the installation of certain video cards due to the limited depth or prevent you from installing hard disks in certain slots. Mid towers will limit your expansion capabilities (less drive cages), make installation of components more difficult, have limited cable management features, have limited airflow and tend to become hotter than big towers and thus more noisy (the fans need to run at higher speed) and limit overclockabilty.
A BIG tower is the (only) way to go.
    PSU:
The PSU is one of the most crucial components in any system but also the one component most often overlooked. A good PSU will give you years of reliable work on your PC, a suboptimal or mediocre PSU will give you tremendous headaches and unexplainable crashes, hangs or errors, causing you to miss deadlines.
Go to eXtreme Power Supply Calculator Pro v2.5 and get the Pro version. Enter all your components, including planned expansions, set the Motherboard to High End - Desktop, set the CPU Utilization (TDP) to 100%, set System Load to 100% and Capacitor Aging to 30% and press the Calculate button. Add 10 - 15% to this Wattage for safety and note the required amperage on the various rails (+3.3V, +5V and +12V). Based on these figures, select a good GOLD label PSU, that meets the total wattage and the amperage on each rail. It is your best guarantee for long and reliable, troublefree editing.
    Budget, economical or warrior system
Before going into these three systems, you can consider them to be a rough 'Best-buying Guide', let me remind you of the basic practical system requirements for CS5.5 and consider your own workflow to interpret these charts.
    It starts with the codec:
Since DSLR is getting so popular, let me remind you that this is ranked under the 'Difficult' codecs and P2 is an 'Easy' codec. The more difficult the codec you use, the higher the system requirements. See:
For the full article, see Adobe Forums: System requirements for CS5
As a rough translation from 'Easy', 'Intermediate' and 'Difficult' to the kind of system you want to build, you could say that 'Easy' can be handled quite well with a 'Budget' system, 'Intermediate' is best handled by an 'Economical' or better system and 'Difficult' requires an 'Economical' or better system. A 'Budget' system may struggle with the load of such 'Difficult' codecs.
Note that in the following table, I have mentioned components in each category. These are just examples of what could fit in each category, they are not necessarily a combination of components that I would build per se.
Also note that I have not chosen the fastest CPU in each category, but only unlocked CPU's. Each can be overclocked for optimal results and then will deliver a better Bang-For-The-Buck (BFTB) than the highest clocked CPU in that range. Finally, note that the budget system can benefit from increasing memory to 4 x 4 GB for only € 38 extra. That is the weakest link in the budget system.
Prices mentioned are current day prices in the Netherlands (01-11-2012) including 19% VAT.
    Here are my suggestions:
The main difference in comparison to the previous guide, is that the i7-3930K appears to be faster and better affordable than a dual Xeon X5680 system.
Anyway, I hope this helps people comtemplating a new system to get the right components in an affordable system.

If not care to post your findings?
Since you have done extensive testing I am sure you have

I realize our testing isn’t very extensive so please enlighten us

  • NOT FOUND WCE2013 (update 5 or 11) Platform builder and Embedded App Builder in VS2013 update 4

    Hi MS MVP,
    I installed WCE2013 update 5 on VS2013 update 4 in Windows 7 Ultimate x64 successfully.
However, Open VS2013, I cannot found BSP builder and App builder.
I guess .net updates in Windows update causes the PROBLEM.
    I trialed some test case:
    - Install WCE2013 update5 on Win8.1 x64, VS2013 update2 : only see BSP builder in new project templates, BUT App builder missing. After upgrading VS2013 to update 4, BSP builder disappears in new project templates.
    - Install WCE2013 update5 on Win7 x64: not thing changes in VS2013 update4. Downgrade VS2013 to update2 gets similar failure.
    Please HELP!

I didn't answered my question, but I got it to work without having to re-install.
Delete all these files and folders from the eclipse/plugins and eclipse/features folder of your Flash Builder installation folder
    com.adobe.cslib
    com.adobe.inverurie
    com.adobe.xmp
Open the CS Extension Builder plugin package
Copy all .jar files from the plugin directory and paste them into the eclipse/plugins folder of the Flash Builder installation
Copy all .jar files from the features directory and paste them into the eclipse/features folder of the Flash Builder installation
Extract every jar (ex: com.adobe.cside.feature_2.0.0.4-33034.jar file is extracted into a com.adobe.cside.feature_2.0.0.4-33034 folder)
    Delete the .jar files
    Restart Flash Builder
Everything works fine so far. There is a small glitch where the "CS Extension Builder Start Page" seems to miss its stylesheet, but the panel is working anyway. At this point, it's fine by me. And I'm still not able to uninstall the plugin with the "Installed Software" window (the button is grayed out).
So much for being lazy. And for wanting to repair my mistakes, of course.
