Border around Flash content in Firefox 7.01

I notice that any Flash content I create inside a Dreamweaver,html page results in a dotted border around the flash object when clicked. I cannot be the only one seeing this. I also have Safari which the content shows up fine. I thought it may have benn my css page but I also imported a flash swf directly to an blank .html page and that is my result
Is this an html or Flash problem?
anyone?
rd

This is an html/css matter.  I think it involves setting an 'outline' style to '0' or 'none' though I can't rememebr for sure.  Try Googling "CSS remove outline"... here's one result from that search that looks like it includes a section for Flash.

  • Removing border around Flash content

    I really cant stand what adobe has done to the flash player.
    They totally messed it up.
    My question is how do I remove the box/boarder that the new
    flash player puts around flash content.
    Go to a site with flash content, once there hover your mouse
    over the content, you will notice a box/boarder around the content
    now.
    HOW DO I REMOVE THIS, so freaking annoying!
    Just leave Flash how it was Adobe.
    Good to see how you come and take over macromedia, and then
    you jack with thier software making it a total annoyance.
    Tell me how to turn this boarder crap off.

    You really are shooting off obviously without having read any
    of the
    hundreds of news reports on this in the last couple of months
    .. nor the
    hundreds of forum posts here. Do a little research before you
    start
    mouthing off about what adobe has done .. otherwise you are
    just looking
    very foolish.
    Adobe has done nothing here. Microsoft have been forced as a
    result of
    EOLAS suing them to change how IE works with all embedded
    ActiveX controls
    (including Flash).
    It is up to web site authors to change their HTML so the
    flash content
    doesn't need to be activated.
    There is nothing you can do about it, nor adobe, nor
    Microsoft.
    You can temporarily do something about it be going to MS site
    and
    downloading a patch that turns off this new behaviour for a
    month or two
    (its only a temporary fix).
    If you are a web site author, then see the many posts in the
    flash general
    discussion about what you should do .. in particular look at

  • Border around flash objects in Firefox

    Hello,
       I have a swf object inside a table, everything is perfect when I look at my work in IE but when I use Firefox, a white border apears around the swf object, this is annoying because this border breaks my graphos design for the webpage...
       I've already tried using padding, margin, border, outline set to 0 -or none- for both, the swf object and the table and the border doesn't go away... Also, I've tried changing the swf params for scale and wmode value and nothing happens :s
       This is the code (yes, is the one that dreamweaver writes when you add any flash object):
       <td height="295" class="noBorders"><object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="780" height="295" class="noBorders" id="FlashID" title="X">

          <param name="quality" value="high" />
          <param name="wmode" value="opaque" />
          <param name="swfversion" value="6.0.65.0" />
          <!-- This param tag prompts users with Flash Player 6.0 r65 and higher to download the latest version of Flash Player. Delete it if you don’t want users to see the prompt. -->

          <param name="BGCOLOR" value="#00FF00" />
          <param name="SCALE" value="exactfit" />
          <!-- Next object tag is for non-IE browsers. So hide it from IE using IECC. -->

            <param name="expressinstall" value="Scripts/expressInstall.swf" />
            <param name="BGCOLOR" value="#00FF00" />
            <param name="SCALE" value="exactfit" />

    If I erase the dreamweaver<object data...> code (the orange one) the problem solves but the swf object doesn't appears in IE...Obviously I don't want to erase any of this dreamweaver code because it's there for something
    I want my page to be looking good in any browser, what can I do? please help!!!!!
    Thanks

    Thanks...
       I don't think is the swf file because the issue only happens in Firefox :s
       Anyway, I think I've fixed the problem, instead of using a table for the two swf (the photo and the menu), i used 2 <div>s... I'm not sure is the correct way of designing it (mixin tables and divs) but its working now
       Thanks again

  • Flash content makes Firefox to freeze/crash

    Hi Team,
    I have posted my problem a few days ago as a comment (an answer) to the "flash plugin" post from "cj_gadget". But I have got no answer, probably because the "flash plugin" post was labelled as "solved".
    So I now post my problem as a new question, and since I have a Macintosh configuration while "cj_gadget" (and many others) was using a Windows PC, the solution may be different!
    After a long period without using it, my iMac (running with Mac OS X 10.6.8) has been recently updated with the most recent versions of Firefox (25.0) and Flash Player & Plugin (11.9.900.117). The result is that Firefox crashes (freezes) on every page with Flash content. For other reasons, I have to stay with Mac OS 10.6.8 without upgrading to more recent OS versions. I have looked through Firefox and Adobe Flash Player help pages, as well as through many posts on this forum without finding an effective solution.
    Following some of these posts, I have unchecked (in Firefox > Preferences > Advanced) the use of hardware graphic accelerator. Many posts advise to do the same for Flash Player with a right click on the video frame, but this is NOT possible since Firefox freezes immediately as all Flash video start automatically when the page is loaded.
    I have also checked that a HTML5 video displays correctly as for : "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTl3U6aSd2w&html5=True" while "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTl3U6aSd2w" stucks Firefox. This Firefox freezing problem is general for all pages with Flash content (that is for a large fraction of the Web!) and NOT limited to Youtube which was just used here as an example.
    Some more information : RealPlayer was not present on this computer when the problem appeared. If I disable the Flash pluging in Firefox, it does nor freeze, but of course does not display the video. Safari (version 5.1.10 - ok for Apple software update) works fine with Flash content.
    I have sent many hours on this problem without progress and would strongly appreciate any help or even better a solution !

    Hi, jpdemers , and thanks for your advices.
    I have been travelling for some time and was not in position to make any new test for about two weeks (the affected machine is an iMac at home).
    Today I have uninstalled Firefox using AppCleaner, as well as Flash Player using Adobe uninstall_flash_player_osx.dmg ; and I have then installed both of them from scratch.
    Unfortunately the problem is still there :-(
    I just notice that I forgot to reboot the iMac (twice) as you said. I believe it may not be so important, but I will repeat the cycle with the reboots included (early next year now !).
    I will keep you updated on the issue, and I hope I will not have to reinstall the system. I have the install discs, but this may be an heavy burden...
    In the meanwhile, I wish you an happy new year !

  • Problems with loading flash content in firefox, chrome, and opera

    Salutations.  The past couple of days, I've been having trouble with loading flash content on many sites.  In particular, many flash games on sites like facebook will not load for me.  Sporadically on other sites, flash content will not load, either.
    I have no trouble with flash in IE9, but when I try to load these same pages in opera, chrome, and firefox i receive a "This Adobe flash plugin has crashed" error.  I do send a crash report each time I receive this error.  I've uninstalled flash and reinstalled it several times and it still performs this error.  Sometimes when i try to load certain flash games on Chrome a "the following plugin is unresponsive: shockwave flash.  would you like to stop it?" error and this makes the whole browser unresponsive.  I receive the same error in Opera.
    I have the following browsers and flash versions:
    Firefox:  6.0.2 with adobe flash 10.3.183.7
    Chrome: 13.0.782.220 with adobe flash 10.3.183.7
    Opera:  11.51 with adobe flash 10.3.183.7
    As for my system, I have Windows Vista Home Premium with service pack 2.
    Prior to upgrading to this new version of flash, everything worked fine in all of these browsers for me.
    As an afterthought, I figured that I should mention that I'm running adobe flash 10.3.183.5 with IE9, which is the main difference between that one browser and the other three.

    Thanks for the report.  Odd that IE is fine, though maybe something broke between .5 and .7.  Would you mind opening a new bug on this issue over at bugbase.adobe.com?  Here's a post that describes the information we'll need and instructions for generating a crash log:
    How to report a crash with Flash Player

  • Annoying dotted border around flash objects...

    Hey. In the past few months I've noticed every time I have a
    flash object on my browser, it's surrounded by a dotted border that
    causes me to have to first press on the flash object - and only
    then be able to use it.
    So, for example, if the flash object is a
    menu, I first have to click inside the flash object, and
    then the border goes off and the flash is "activated".
    Does anyone have any idea what causes this and how can I make
    it go away?
    Thank you! :)

  • Unwanted border around flash movie

    Though I found that this problem is quite common and can have
    different causes, I still couldn't resolve my own case.
    I have several flash animations embedded in a table and the
    one that has a rollover-action shows an unwanted border in Firefox
    and in Internet Explorer. The borders are all set to 0, the
    vertical and horizontal spacing of the <object>-tag is set to
    0, too but no matter what else I tried it just doesn't work. The
    animation does not show these borders when I test-compile it in
    Flash, so I guess it could have something to do with the way
    Dreamweaver embeds it in the HTML-file.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Is it possible to disable the dotted border around flash elements that show up when you interact with them? It looks horrible and it shows up everywhere.

    I understand that this is somehow related to accessability of the web but shouldn't it be an option in the preference panel?
    No other browsers behaves like this.

    It did this and it worked for me. It requires the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/stylish/ Stylish extension].
    Create a new rule with this:
    @namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);
    object, embed {
    outline: none !important;
    Links still have outlines around them, but thankfully Flash objects no longer do! Hurray!

    if you go to www.brokenflash.com in a firefox browser and
    click on any of the three buttons in the top right, or any of the
    buttons at the bottom of the page, you get a white box once you
    click. It still navigates on a single click, it just shows up right
    after you click. I don't seem to have the problem in IE or Google

    I am not sure I quite follow you. You don't -- by any chance
    -- mean the
    mouse over state (shown when the mouse pointer is above the
    button) of
    those buttons, do you? I see no white boxes having clicked on
    any of the
    buttons (because the site loads a different page then).
    Wait -- are you using Internet Explorer to view web pages?

  • Flash content gets obscured by other tabs in Firefox

    I've had this problem for a while where when I'm viewing flash content in Firefox, changing to another tab and back again causes the content to be obscured by the previous tab, like this:
    (click for full size)
    I'm using flashplugin 11.2.202.336-1 from the official pacman repositories and Firefox 27.0.1, also from the official pacman repositories. It doesn't happen all the time, and refreshing the page fixes it, but it's annoying especially when returning to a long video after checking another tab.
    Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, is there any way I can fix this?
    Thanks!

  • [FP 11.4 & FF 14.0.1] Firefox hang on every page with flash-content

    Hi at all
    I have a problem with the new Flash Player, let me explain it:
    We have a windows-domain with software distribution via GPO.
    Since update to 11.4 via the msi package (11.3 was previously installed) we have in the meanwhile 3 PCs (all Win7 x32 with FF 14.0.1 and Flash 11.4) with this problem:
    - While loading a page with Flash content, the Firefox simply freezes and have to be killed together with plugin-container in order to work again.
    If this happens, ff and plugin-container have 0% cpu-usage. It freezes and does nothing...
    If I remove Flash: Web-pages are working, but without flash.
    What I've tried:
    reinstall using flash-uninstaller
    Using "normal" end-user web-installer
    Uninstall via Uninstaller and tried 11.3 again
    reinstall Firefox, both 14 and 13
    Nothing helped to bring Flash-support back.
    This happens only on FF, Internet Explorer is working fine...
    Can someone give me a hint?

    Chris Campbell wrote:
    The key here will be to determine what is different between the machines that work and those that hang.  Of all the systems that fail, they are all Windows 7 32bit?
    Yep, this issue only happens on Windows 7 32-bit machines, currently 6.
    Do you have any 32bit systems that don't fail?
    Yep, the most Windows 7 32-bit machines wont fail.
    What about hardware, are there similarities here?  Attached devices/drivers?  Software that is running at the time?
    These machines are all from DELL. They all have normal hardware, nothing special. Other machines from same type does not affected. Software: All have standard software distributed via Software-distribution (GPO). Only some PCs have special software, but it is not running. No special drives, too.
    Maybe try booting Windows in safe mode to see if it still hangs?
    Good idea, indeed - I will try this.
    We're definitely interested in what's going on.  I'll ask our security and Mozilla folks to see if they have additional clues.
    Thanks!
    EDIT:
    Safe mode: Flash is working! (without disabled Protected Mode!)
    I've set msconfig now to: Custom system start and deselected the boxes to load systemservices and system start elements.
    So, now windows does a non-safe mode boot but no service or element was loaded except the drivers (right?). Flash is not working with this config!
    So, whats the difference between safe mode and normal boot with minimal configuration (see attached picture).
    Only drivers will be loaded, right? If so, I can exclude the network and graphics driver as source: graphics driver are updated right now and network was working in safe-mode.
    Any new ideas?
