This isn't a Dreamweaver question, it's a basic HTML
question. The short
answer:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01
Transitional//EN"
http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
<html>
<head>
<title>Sample Page</title>
<style>
body {
background-color : #333333 ;
#myCenterDiv {
width : 680px ;
background-color : #dedede ;
margin : 0 auto ;
</style>
</head>
<body>
<div id="myCenterDiv">
<h1>Hello, World!</h1>
<p>Body content goes here. It will be in a box 680
pixels wide and
centered. If the browser viewport is wider than 680, dark
gray strips
will appear left and right. If the browser window is
narrower than
680, you will get a horizontal scroll bar.</p>
</div>
</body>
</html>
The slightly longer answer:
Get a basic HTML and CSS book. Sit down with it and a text
editor and
build a few pages by hand, until you are at least somewhat
familiar with
HTML and CSS. THEN use DW. I recommend Elizabeth Castro,
"HTML for the
World Wide Web, Fifth Edition with XHTML and CSS: Visual
QuickStart Guide"

    How can I make a decorative page border in Pages?

    Hi Janet,
    I suppose that you are asking how to include a decorative border of your design into a pages document. How you design that border is rather out of the range of these discussions. So, let's say that you have a graphic that approximates a picture frame and has the required dimensions to frame your content.
    If you want to have the graphic appear on every page, Drag or Insert > Choose, to incorporate your design in to the document. The position it as you want it, and then Arrange > Send to Background and Format > Advanced > Move Object to Section Master.
    If there is more than one section in your document, there may be more considerations, but if you do this at the outset in the creation of your document, the design of the first section will flow to subsequent sections.

    JimHess~  Many thanks.  In my short history with LR, it's amazing how many people I've seen ask this question.  I'm nearly embarrassed at how simple the fix was, but grateful that you didn't dismiss such a basic question.  You made my week.  And my friend's photo album...

    wrapping an A HREF tag around a flash .swf object will not
    work.
    the link has to be "in" the swf, back when it was an FLA file

  • How do I add color to a text box border in Pages app?

    Can't find it anywhere. And don't have time to keep looking. Wondering if you can do this in Pages (in Word, you insert text box, then under Format you get in drop down menu "Borders and Shading" and then you can add color just to the border).
    Can you do this in Pages app? I've looked everywhere.
    Thanks! You'll save me a boatload of time.

    Pages ’09 v4.3
    Inspector > Graphic > Stroke
    Pages v5.2.2
    Format > Style > Border
    In either case, the color well will appear.

  • Multiple page pdf created from illustrator - has white border on pages

    Hi - having trouble with a white border which appears around each page (have a colour background) in a multiple page pdf doc- created in illustrator (using page tiling) - anyone know the trick to get around this? Want the colour to go to the edges....see attached pdf

    I'm using CS4 but that's OK you can get it to work in CS2
    File: Print. Beside Media select Custom. Make the size really big. Then click done in lower right. Afterwards save your file.

  • Border around page...how?

    is there a way to put a stroke/frame/border around a page/slide? I know I could do it with a shape, but I was looking for a simpler way.
    thanks
    bob

    Unclear what you want to do, since it seems so simple to me.
    There is no "put a frame around this slide" command. So yes, if you want to put that on just 1 slide, you have to actually make it, using any number of methods, like 1 or more shapes, various picture frames, colors, and opacities, or whatever.
    If you want to put that frame on more than one slide, you can copy what you made and paste.
    If you want to put that frame on all your slides, you can apply the frame to your master.

    Is your document based on a Page Layout Template, or a Word Processing Template?
    I am not sure what border is showing. Try Menu > View > Hide Layout.

  • Border around page messing up my ruler

    Hi, I'm trying to use the ruler for exact placement of fields on the screen so that they print in the exact location on the form.  I can't because there is some kind of border around the page that impacts my ruler measurements.  Is there a way tell the ruler to ignore the border or get the rid of the border so that 1" from the left is really 1" from the left when it prints out. Thanks.

    Make sure you have defined your page the correct size (Format->Page). The border you see is determined by your page size.
    Also make sure you have the 'snap-to-grid' measurement set as preferred (View->Grid)

  • How to apply border to page???

    Has to be a simple way to do this. I have a 4 inch by 6 inch page and I want to apply a decorative border. I can do this by drawing a rectangle to fit the page size but that is a pain and I never get it quite right. Open to any and all suggestions.
    Thanks

    With the marquis tool select click anywhere in the document or paste board. when the dialog opens enter the dimensions 4x6 click ok. in the align panel or control panel with the selection tool selected and the rectangle selected click the artboard icon in the lower left and select from the drop down artboard then align to center horizontally and then vertically.
    So you can probably write a script to do this or make an action with stop for the dialog to enter the size and run the script or action. You can also give it a keyboard shortcut if you do this all the time.

  • Create border for page in Illustrator

    I have an old high resolution photo scan saved as an AI file. I want to create a black border around this photo or file. Any suggestions? Roger....

  • How do I keep border on Master Page on top?

    I have a page border and page numbers on my master page that I need to stay on top of all overlapping items.  However, I have several rotated images where the corner overlaps the border.  I've tried to send them to the back and bringing the border to front but nothing is working.  Any advice?

    In InDesign master objects are always behind live page objects on the same layer, so you essentially have two stacking hierarchies to deal with -- multiple layers and the order on the individual layers.

  • I'm looking for the "soft fuzzy border" that was in Pages 08 'Picture Frames'. I cannot find it in Pages 09.

    I use Pages 08 for creating different types of greeting cards.  One of my often used 'Picture Frames" is the 'soft fuzzy border".  I cannot find it on Pages 09 and therefore do not use it.  Any suggestions to create the 'soft fuzzy border' in Page 09.

    GateKeeper is set to only allow applications from the Mac App Store. You can change this to Mac App Store & identified developers or from anywhere in System Preferences > Security & Privacy. I have mine set to anywhere but that's not the best choice for most users.
    You can override GateKeeper on an individual file basis. Locate the installer in Finder & right-click or Control-click on it & choose Open from the contextual menu. You will get a warning but can choose to open the file.

  • How can I put a border around my page, or around text?

    I rarely use Pages. Only when Textedit won't do something.
    I want a frame (or box or border or whatever you want to call it) around my page. I haven't been able to figure it out from the Help. I found something about a "text box" but that seems to require creating the box first.
    Thanks a lot!
    Also, it seems that you don't have any control over where a text box is when you create it. There must be something I'm missing here.

    powermac g5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Hi:
    You don't say whether you've got Pages 1 or Pages 2.
    The techniques are a little bit different. But in either one, you might find it easier to follow this to begin by choosing "View / Show Layout from the menu.
    In Pages 1, you create a text box from the insert menu, choosing insert / text.
    In Pages 2, you can simply click on the T icon in the toolbar. Use View / Customise Toolbar if it's not there, and put it there.
    The text box will show on your page. Where it is doesn't matter: you can size and move it wherever you want - including outside the layout margins of your page. Just be aware that what you can print may depend on your printer. Some (mostly lasers nowadays) won't print to the edge of the page.
    To size and move your text box, you click on the margin outside it and then select / all (Command / a) to put handles on it. If this doesn't let you move it, or it springs back once you have, then go to the Arrange menu and send it back. This is because when forward it can be confined by other things on the page - even provision for a header or footer in the blank template, for example: so you might not necessarily see what's stopping it being moved.
    But Pages is a hands on program. It's always harder to describe what you do than it is to do it. Play around with it; get the hang of it. OK, so now you've got your text box. Now bring up an Inspector box, and choose the Object Inspector: the one with the square and the circle. That's where you put your borders in. Choose the line style, the colour, and point size you want, and there you are. You can do this with other text already entered: the box will hide it if the box is at the front, but if it's sent back text or other objects there when you started the box will show (and print) through it.
    You can border your page with shapes in much the same way, but a text box is maybe the simplest. And you can also overlay text boxes or other objects if you want multiple borders, special effects, or when you really get into it, line and border fonts you can get from 3rd party suppliers. A freeware example is "Borders" and you can search for it in Mac OsX downloads.
    Some printers will also allow you to surround your page with a border. If so, you'll find it simpler, but the border will go where the printer wants, and you'll only be able to set margins, which it will follow.
    Here's a tip: if you want objects you work with centred on the page sometimes, you can choose in Pages preferences to have guidelines originate from the centre of your object as you move it across the centre of your page. When you get two of them, your object is centred. But be careful if you've set up for facing pages with the margins different: there's one centre for a left page, and another for the right one.
    Too hard? Not if you use the program. You'll find out what's there, and use it easily. But Pages is not a toy, and it's not a mere text editor. Don't waste your money by letting it rot. Learn it, and you'll be astonished at what it can do.
    You can also do borders with other objects, like shapes, and the principles are much the same. Choose what best suits your project, once you know what's there. But Text Edit? You've got to be joking. It's like the old IBM/DOS one with fonts thrown in. Better learn Pages before it bores you to death!
    Cheers.

  • How do I move a page or delete a single page in CS6 indesign are keep format?

      I created a 75 page book in InDesign CS6. The template had double-sided right and left facing pages, each with a black border and page number in the center bottom of the page.
    As an experienced InDesign user, I had very few challenges putting the document together. Once completed, I edited the images and attempted to rearrange some. I traded some even numbered pages  with odd numbered ones. I added a few pages and deleted others. Then I discovered that many of the pages were not formatted correctly. Numbers were no longer in the center. Borders framed only 2/3 of pages, shifting right or left onto the pasteboard.
    After careful study, I discovered that everytime a single page was moved, all the subsequent pages were formatted incorrectly. If two successive pages were moved together, formatting remained appropriate.
    I called Adobe for support. I called over and over again. The first level of support required me to describe the problem. The low level support was repeatedly stumped.  After considerable time on the phone, they escalated the case and told me someone at the next level would call me back within 72 hours. This happened 3 times. I was never called back within 72 hours. I was called back a week after my third call when I was several hundred miles from my computer and the nearest WiFi. I was given yet another 72 hour window in which I was supposed to sit by my phone and wait for a call. Again no one called.
    I called again and again. I explained my problem over and over. At this point, after being cutoff three times this afternoon and once this morning, I have come to the conclusion that not only does Adobe have no way to solve this problem, they lack the courtesy to tell me so.
    I am using a Macbook Pro, previously with 10.7+ and now with system 10.8+. The error is clearly in the program. I have a clumpsy way to do what I want but I can only put in page numbers page by page.
