Border with padding for object styles

     Hi,
I am trying to apply a universal object style in my Indesign CC 14 document. I'd like each image (object, non text) to have a a border with padding. Currently, I know how to apply the border (object styles > stroke > outer fill) and I can get rounded corners and all real nice. But I need that padding between the image and the border.
As i understand it, I apply the margin through the text style, but how to apply the padding for the border?
thanks
matt

For text frames you use Inset Spacing in Text Frame Options. For images you can make a custom stroke style like this and apply it to the image frame. Here the stroke is from 0 to 25% and the gap is from 25 to 100%. I've applied a 20pt stroke outside aligned, so the stroke is 5 pts and the gap or padding is 15pts. You can then color the gap or leave it transparent:

  • [JS CS3] JS method for Object Styles Break Link to Style

    I have pages full of objects that are assigned the pesky "Basic Graphics Frame" object style. I need to do the equivalent of choosing "Break Link to Style" in the Object Styles panel on all the objects in many files.
    I haven't been able to find anything equivalent to the "Break Link to Style" functionality in looking through the Object Browser. Finding all objects with [Basic Graphics Frame] object style and applying an object style of [None] doesn't do the same result. Any ideas?

    Hello experts,
    I have a MM requirement where the user attaches some document in ME22n or ME23n via services for object functionality to a particular PO. Here the user wants to attach this document during sending of mail with ME9F to the vendor. First of all is it possible with the standard functionality of ME9F? or Requires some Zdevelopment. Anyone can guide me how to extract the attachment and send it with mail, does it require some configuration from functional side? I searched the forums but did not find the ways to extract.
    Thanks in advance

  • How to link Employee-Trip with "Services for Object" Attachment.

    Hello SAPients.
    This is the scenario: I enter the TCode TRIP, enter a personnel number and hit enter, then click on the 'Subsequent Activities' link, then click on the button 'Services for Object', then click on the 'Attachment List' button, I see a list of attachments for the object.
    The question is, does anybody knows the table relations to get from 'Employee-Trip' to this attachment list? I know that some of the information I need of the attachment list is stored in table SOOD. But I can't find a way to link from 'Employee-Trip' to the attachment list in SOOD.

  • Map XML tag to an object style

    Hi everyone!
    I am not sure this is the correct place to post it, but i didn't find any "tagging" department of the forums.
    I do import some XML into ID document.
    Text nodes of my XML are imported properly, and i can map any tag of XML to one of the paragraph or table styles.
    But, when i import any images (or another ID documents) with <... href="..." />, how can i map that tag to an object style?
    ///////////// It would be very helpful for example when i'm going to set the stroke of 1pt to all of inline images of text frame.
    Please any feedback would be helpful.
    Alex.

    I will try to give an example, just to give a kick start ........... you need little bit of tweaking to meet your actual requirement:
    suppose you have an xml element "tag" having an attribute "@href" with object style name defined as  it's value.
    <tag href="object_style_name">
    "object_style_name" is a object style and should exist in your document. To map the tag with the corresponding object style value you can use XMLRules in JS:
    //NOTE: NOT TESTED, BUT SHOULD WORK
    #include "glue code.jsx"
    main();
    function main(){
    if (app.documents.length != 0){
    var myDoc = app.activeDocument;
    var myRuleSet = new Array (
    new findObjAttribute("//*[@href]")
    with(myDoc){
    var elements = xmlElements;
    __processRuleSet(elements.item(0), myRuleSet);
    else{
    alert("You have no document open!");
    exit();
    function findObjAttribute(XPATH){
    this.name = "findObjAttribute";
    this.xpath = XPATH;
    this.apply = function(myElement, myRuleProcessor)
    //Just to check whether the collect element is selected
    var elmName=myElement.markupTag.name;
    var styleName=myElement.xmlAttributes.itemByName("href").value;
    with(myElement){
    try {
    applyObjectStyle(myDoc.objectStyles.item(styleName), true);
         } catch(e){};
    return true;

  • How to find un used Object styles in a indesign document?

    hi,
    I need to remove unUsed Objects Styles.
    How do i find out?
    How to remove it?
    by,
    Subha

    As far as I can tell, you need to get an array of all the styles you are using, then compare it to the available styles and remove those that don't match up. I did something similar for swatches and changed it for object styles, but I am curious if there is a better way now or in the future. The following code compares and removes used and available styles based on the indexes, ignoring default styles in brackets... but hopefully someone has a more efficient way.<br /><br />jerrod<br /><br />//try this<br />var usedStyles = new Array();<br />for(var x=0;x<yourDoc.allPageItems.length;x++){<br />  usedStyles.push(yourDoc.allPageItems[x].appliedObjectStyle.index);<br /><br />}<br /><br />usedStyles.sort(compareNumbers);<br />var currentIndex = yourDoc.objectStyles.length-1;<br />for(x=usedStyles.length-1;x>-1;x--){<br />  while(currentIndex>usedStyles[x]){<br />    try{<br />      if(yourDoc.objectStyles[currentIndex].name.charAt(0)!="["){<br />        yourDoc.objectStyles[currentIndex].remove();<br />      }<br />    }finally{<br />      currentIndex--;<br />    }<br />  }<br />  currentIndex=usedStyles[x]-1;<br />}<br /><br />function compareNumbers(a, b) {<br />  return a - b<br />}

  • Unhide "Services for object" tab (MM02, MIRO, ...)

    Hi, everybody!
    I'm in trouble with "Services for object" tab. I need it in transactions: MM02 and MIRO, but it is hidden.
    I'm not sure about it, but I guess this could be solved with the right authorization. Just don't know which one.
    Could anyone help me?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    I guess BADI GOS_SRV_SELECT could solve the problem. You may disable the change button and other functions (perhaps using authorizations as a trigger).
    *Structure IS_LPOR contains
    *INSTID * Obkey := keyfields of Business Object
    *TYPEID * i.e. BOR TYPE 'ZDGF_DG'
    *CATID * i.e. 'BO' for BOR
    Be carefull - It is used for all kind of objects - so add CASES for combinatons of CATID/TYPID and call an own function/method for each.
    Kind regards,

  • XML and object styles

    Two things :

  • Attachment not shown in MIRO (service for objects)

    We have a problem with services for object in MIRO transaction.
    There's no "service for objects" icon in MIRO transaction, and through menu ("System=>Services for objets") we get this message:
    "No service available".
    But there's an entry with that object ID (invoice number) in table TOA01 with object type BUS2081 (Incoming invoice), which means there's A link for that object ID.
    We checked customizing and compared it to other systems where it's fine and seems ok.
    Can't understand why it doesn't work. Something missing in MM?
    I'd really appreciate any clue.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    J

    Thanks for answering.
    Well, we have same archivelink customizing in another systemo for MIRO transaction and it works fine.
    There's a development, of course. There's a job that executes a program and attaches the pdf from a server, etc.
    So we can attach pdf files when entering an invoice. Guess there's a missing step, but don't know exactly which.
    Maybe basis people blocked something, but we don't have a clue.

  • How to replace a paragraph style with object style

    Hi,
    I am having this issue lately that in paginating a newspaper I have to do all premium post with a Rectangle Border. the problem is that the text is in the grid.
    Is there anyway that, while I add a specific paragraph style to some parts of the text, I can automatically give this text a specific Object Style (like stroke rectangle)
    Does it make sense?
    Thank you very much

    Michael,
    I think that I did not explain myself as I should have. The problem is not really related to links but more of a automatic replacement issue.
    Every time I do this newspaper I include a new text information and the location of the Headers changes in every single case.
    http://i.imgur.com/sgQ2wIK.jpg
    In the link, the blue paragraphs need to be replaced with the respective Header Icons that you see on top and everytime this location of the headers in the newspaper changes due to the different number of posts in each specific category. Now the problem is related on how to autoaticaly replace this string in blue with its respective header
    thanks a lot in advace for all your help

  • Best-practice for use of object styles to manage image text wrap issues when aiming at both print and EPUB output?

    I have a work-flow question about object styles, text-wrap, and preparing a long document with lots of images for dual print/EPUB output in InDesign CC 2014.
    I am sort of experienced with InDesign but new to EPUB export. I have hundreds of pages and hundreds of images so I'd like to make my EPUB learning curve, in particular, less painful.
    Let me talk you through what I'm planning and you tell me if it's stupid.
    It's kind of a storybook-look I'm going for. Single column of text (6" by 9" page) with lots of small-to-medium images on the page (one or two images per page), and the text flowing around, sometimes right, sometimes left. Sometimes around the bounding box, sometimes following the edges of the images. So in each case I'm looking to tweak image size and placement and wrap settings so that the image is as close to the relevant text as possible and the layout isn't all wonky. Lovely print page the goal. Lots of fussy trade-offs and deciding what looks best. Inevitably, this will entail local overrides of paragraph styles. So what I want to do, I guess, is get the images as closely placed as possible, before I do any of that overriding. Then I divide my production line.
    1) I set aside the uniformly-styled doc for later EPUB export. (This is wise, right? Start for EPUB export with a doc with pristine styles?)
    2) With the EPUB-bound version set aside, I finish preparing the print side, making all my little tweaks. So many pages, so many images. So many little nudges. If I go back and nudge something at the beginning everything shifts a little. It's broken up into lots of separate stories, but still ... there is no way to make this non-tedious. But what is best practice? I'm basically just doing it by hand, eyeballing it and dropping an inline anchor to some close bit of text in case of some storm, i.e. if there's a major text change my image will still be almost where it belongs. Try to get the early bits right so that I don't have to go back and change them and then mess up stuff later. Object styles don't really help me with that. Do they? I haven't found a good use for them at this stage (Obviously if I had to draw a pink line around each image, or whatever, I'd use object styles for that.)
    Now let me shift back to EPUB. Clearly I need object styles to prepare for export. I'm planning to make a left float style and a right float style and a couple of others for other cases. And I'm basically going to go through the whole doc selecting each image and styling it in whatever way seems likeliest. At this point I will change the inline anchors to above line or custom, since I'm told EPUB doesn't like the inline ones.
    I guess maybe it comes down to this. I realize I have to use object styles for images for EPUB, but for print, manual placement - to make it look just right - and an inline anchor seems best? I sort of feel like if I'm going to bother to use object styles for EPUB I should also use them for print, but maybe that's just not necessary? It feels inefficient to make so many inline anchors and then trade them for a custom thing just for EPUB. But two different outputs means two different workflows. Sometimes you just have to do it twice.
    Does this make sense? What am I missing, before I waste dozens of hours doing it wrong?

    I've moved your question to the InDesign EPUB forum for best results.

    Hi Vikram and Lilybiri,
    Thanks for your responses :-)
    I'm working on Windows 8.1... I think that I may have found the issue... I was saving the file in a project directory rather than the default My Captivate Projects folder...
    Perhaps Captivate was struggling to find resources it needed?
    It hasn't crashed for a while now, though it is struggling - I'm working with a 54 slide PPT presentation that is linked and it takes a very long time to interact.
    Sometimes it says that I've removed slides, which I haven't?
    Best,
    Christy.

  • How to export/Import default prefs and object styles with no project open?

    I would like to export my preferences and object styles with no projects open and them import them on my team's machines so that no matter what project we create, we all start from the SAME set of defaults.  When I open captivate and check both with no projects open, there is no ability to import/export.  I know I could open a project and export, but then importing is an issue.
    I'm using CP8 on a Windows 8.1 64 bit machine.
    Help?
    Thx.
    Lori

    After a fresh install I start by editing the Preferences globally, that means by using Edit, Preferences before opening any project (like switching to Expert UI, default language, replacing feedback captions by shapes). There is indeed no way to import preferences from a specific file. I will do the same for some object styles (like creating a blank Highlight box for audio objects). You can only export/import from and to a project,  same like for all Library assets.
    However the Object styles: they are part of the default theme, along with their theme colors, master slides and skin. You cannot edit everything without having a project open. I would recommend to create a custom theme in a project, in which you have all the wanted object styles. Changing the theme colors (you can have a custom theme color palette) will change partially colors of the objects. Once you set that theme as default theme, you'll have all the object styles in the projects that use the default theme.
    To transfer Preferences, custom themes to another machine, maybe this article could help you out. It was written for a different purpose, but you'll find the location of a lot of files that you could transfer in this post:
