Both my iPhones have started playing music on their own

I have an iPhone 5c and my wife has a brand new iPhone 5s. Last week, her phone suddenly started playing the Pup Fiction soundtrack without any reason I was out of town at the time).
Yesterday and today, my iPhone started playing the Dexter theme tune, which I use as my ringtone (my wife doesn't use Pulp Fiction as her ring tone - she doens't even listen to it).
Both phones share an iTunes account, but we each have our own iCloud account for email, calendars, documents, etc.
In all three cases of this happening, neither phone was being used. They were just sitting on the desk.
What could be causing this?

I have done a reset before and the problem went away and came back again.
When the problem happens the IPad becomes unusable. Can touch anything on the screen or even the home or power button.
The only thing that works is a reset.
A brightness icon comes up big on the screen as well when this is happening
In that case you may want to consider resetting to factory settings (basically starting over from scratch). Or a trip to the Genious bar at your local Apple store, if you have one close by.

  • Why does my iPhone 4s start playing music when I connect to a bluetooth unit?

I have recently bought a new 4s and have attempted to use it with my Automedia handsfree bluetooth unit in the car. The phone worked fine with my previous (Android) phone, but whenever I receive a call on the 4s it starts playing music through the bluetooth unit as well as the telephone conversation. This does not happen when I make a call. Any suggestions on how I can stop the music playing? (The phone wont let me swap to the music player to put the music on hold either.) Any help greatly appreciated as this is really annoying.

I considered that too, but when I double clicked the home button to show what apps were running, there was nothing there. I just don't understand how anything would have opened because I hadn't touched my phone in several minutes.

  • When hangup in bluetooth mode my iphone 5 starts playing music

my i phone5 starts playing music over the bluetooth when i hang up my phone I reseted many times and it did not help!
It started when i upgraded to IOS 7

    Hello there, MrSheffer.
It sounds like you may have an application running in the background that plays music. The following Knowledge Base article offers up a great explanation on how to force close applications running in the background on your iOS device:
    iOS: Understanding multitasking
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4211
When performing Step 2, I would recommend closing all open apps. If restarting doesn't help with Step 3, try the recommended resetting as well:
If an app doesn't respond to your input, or doesn't perform as expected, do the following, testing after each step:
    Check for app updates.
    Force the app to close.
    Restart your device.
    Update your iOS device.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

  • IPhone 3G Starts Playing Music In Car Then Stops

    Hey everyone,
I have a new problem with my iPhone 3G. You see, when I used to have the original iPhone, it used to work fine with my car's headunit: http://mobile.jensen.com/jensen/JensenProductDetail.do?ACTIONTYPE_ID=ACTION_TYPE_PRODUCT_DETAIL&ACTION_CATEGORY_ID=STR_CATEGORY_MOBILEMULTIME DIA&ACTION_PRODUCTID=VM9412
That headunit has a cable that would plug into the iPhone and then the iPhone's playlists would show up on the touchscreen and allow me to control it from there. It was very cool and easy. Music would play continuously without a problem.
Fast forward to recently, when I got the iPhone 3G. Everything is fine, I plug in the iPhone to the cable, it says it can't charge it like it could with the old one (that's fine, I guess... still blows), but here's the thing - the playlists will show up, I can select a song, the song would start playing and then it would just stop randomly and the headunit's screen would show "Reading..." When I checked the iPhone after this happened, it seemed like it just reset the connection for no reason: the little "play" symbol would be gone from the top bar.
This would be totally random too, sometimes I would be lucky and it would play a couple of songs before this would happen. Disconnecting and connecting it again would get rid of the "Reading..." and would bring everything back, but the same problem would just happen a few minutes later. THIS NEVER HAPPENED WITH THE OLD ONE. I don't know if it's the 2.0 software (yes, I have the latest software on mine) or if it's the new hardware or what, but it's incredibly frustrating. I've tried a variety of things, including having Airplane Mode on and off, ignoring the Airplane Mode dialog popup entirely, etc... but still no luck. Also, this is only a problem in the car, when I connect it to a sound dock I have at home, I don't get this problem.
Please tell me what I can do! Thanks.

I do not believe your problem relates to the car or the charger at all. It is a problem with the iPhone. I have the same problem when I take my iPhone along for a run. I'm noting that it happens when I go for a run because this problem occurs after I've been listening for about an hour. Just as in your case my phone will start and stop randomly. It will also play a song for three seconds and then skip to the next song. Also, in my case, when this happens I can't use the phone. If I try and dial someone it'll start the call and then immediately hang up.
I called Apple support and they gave me the line that this is totally new, never happened to anyone before, etc. Then they told me to reboot the iPhone (holding the button on top and the wake-up button at same time for 15 seconds). They said if that doesn't work I should try a restore. Anyway, rebooting works, but after another hour or so of nonstop listening the problem starts up again. I called Apple again and after 1.5 hours on the phone (hold time, explain problem from scratch, repeat old suggestions, getting transferred, hold again, explain problem again from scratch, same old suggestions) they told me it must be a problem with my corrupted data because no one else has reported this problem. They said there is nothing more they can do.
BTW, I have spoken to two other people in my building who are having the same problem. They too were told that support told them they were the only people having this problem.

  • IPhone 5s starts playing music by itself when headphones are attached?

I can connect it to my speaker dock and it will not do this, or not have my headphones connected and it will not do this. Occasionally the pause/play button will not read on my headphones, and then it will stop. Please someone help me out, it's driving me nuts. It happens every few seconds I have my headphones in.

very simple men, its going on.

  • My iphone starts playing music when I'm not even touching the phone

My iphone 4 starts playing music when the phone is in my purse and I'm not touching it or even going through my purse. I've tried making sure the ipod is not set to a song but rather to a menu screen when I close it. Sometimes I haven't even used the ipod recently. My phone also calls people when I'm not touching it. Does anyone else have this problem? It must be something I'm doing but I can't figure out what it could be. I'd appreciate any help!

Mine plays music when I have the iPhone 4 in my pocket and bend over a little, I know that kinda 'scrunches' the phone slightly but no other iPhone I've had ever did this and I've treated them all the same. I'll be walking along, pick up something and then the music starts playing. I don't touch anything, never attach headphones, basically the phone is asleep but somehow something triggers the music to start playing. I've entered this as a separate thread but no one seems to know why this happens. I suppose I could take the phone back and exchange it for a new one, but it would be better to know what is causing this.

  • Why does my itunes turn on by itself and start playing music without me clicking on itunes or without hitting play on the keyboard?

My itunes will automatically start playing music when im on the computer away from the computer or across the house.  I am not accidently hitting play on the keyboard or anything.  I even quit itunes to close it completly down and still will open back up and start playing music on its own.  i need some help on resolving this issue as it is annoying me to death! lol

Open Finder> click Go> hold Option and you'll see Library, then browse to the iTunes and iTunes Plug-ins folders.
To get to the other folder click Go > Computer > Macintosh HD > then browse to the iTunes and iTunes Plug-ins folders.
Close iTunes and try moving add-ons not manufactured by Apple temporarily to the Desktop to troubleshoot the behavior. iTunes stores these plug-ins and scripts in the following locations:
    Mac:
    /Users/username/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins/
    /Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins/

  • IPhone starts playing music automatically when connecting to bluetooth

I'm having an issue where my iPhone 4S (iOS 6.0.1) starts playing music/podcasts as soon as it connects to the bluetooth audio in my car, even when neither the music app nor the podcasts app is open at all. This is extremely annoying because every time I get in my car it starts regardless if I want to listen to anything or not, and I'm forced to take my phone out and shut it off every time. At first, I thought it was a glitch with the podcasts app, so I deleted it, but it's still doing it through the music app. The weird thing is, while it's playing, if I open the music app, the "Now Playing" button doesn't appear. But if I double click the home button in the lock screen, or go to the music controls by double clicking on the home screen, it does show what's playing. I have no idea how to make this stop short of shutting off bluetooth, but I don't want to do this in case I want to use the phone itself while driving. Please Apple, fix this soon!

I am having a similar issue with my new IPhone 4 and my cars Bluetooth audio
The music on my iphone just randomly starts playing whenever I enter my vehicle. This happens eventhough I have paused the music
On one occasion the music was playing at the same time as I was on a phone call.

  • My iPhone 4s was playing music now won't on my sony dream machine how do I fix. "This device is not supported by this I-phone".  I have turned  off phone unplugged sony and did the pin reset on bottom.     Help please I need my tunes

My iPhone 4s was playing music now won't on my sony dream machine how do I fix. "This device is not supported by this I-phone".  I have turned  off phone unplugged sony and did the pin reset on bottom.     Help please I need my tunes

Try plugging it up to your computer and launching iTunes and either resetting it to factory settings or resetting to last sync. Hopefully it just noticing it's plugged up to iTunes will fix it. This happened to my friend once and all she had to do was plug it into her computer and that fixed it.

  • Re: iTunes keeps opening by itself and starts playing music

I have something really strange going on.
My iTunes keeps opening by itself and starts playing music. I cannot figure this out. I turned off the "Sync Via Wireless" on all my gadgets, but this continues to happen. This has woken me up in the middle of the night until I got so tired of it I just shut my Mac down.
Anybody hear of this? Know what to do?

I had the same problem - and as well as opening by itself iTunes was skipping from track to track like crazy. But then I found a post from a few years ago that fixed this.
Connect your iPhone to your iMac and uncheck the box that says 'Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected'. Problem solved!
    Hope this works for you.

  • Automatically connects to sync and will start playing music all the time even when not using sync

My iPhone 4S will automatically start playing music as soon as I start my vehicle with sync.you can't hear it but on the screen it shows its playing even when listening to the radio

Try resetting it if you can: hold the on/off and home buttons until you see the Apple logo (ignore the off slider that appears first), then release.  If you can't, try to connect it to iTunes, go to the Summary tab of your sync settings and click Restore to restore it.  If that doesn't work you'll have to force it into recovery mode to restore it as outlined here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808.
You can check in iTune to see if you have a backup.  They are listed in iTunes>Preferences>Devices.  However, the backup may not bring your contacts back as contacts are only backed up as necessary to preserve the recent call and call favorites lists.

  • Is there a "one touch" option to start playing music?

I'm new o the world of the Ipod Touch but have been using the Ipod Classic for a few years now. The one thing I liked about the Classic was the ability to customize menus and have a one click option on the top most menu to start playing songs in a shuffle (Shuffle songs).
Now I picked up a new-to-me 1st Generation Ipod Touch 32G (to work with all of my existing car & home docking/charging systems where the 2G & 3G wont because of the voltage differences) and I sorely miss the one-touch music playing.
Is there an App or config option to allow me to press one button to play?
    Thanks!
    Frank

I tried several applications, most of which were godawful, didn't work, or were made for 12 year old girls and/or people who like the Fast & the Furious, but I found one application that was exactly what I was looking for and more.
FlickTunes is made to be used in a mobile environment. It offers customizable fonts so you can read the artist & song from more than a few inches away, instant & integrated access to the Music app so you can start playing music instantly, you can preset a playlist to start playing to save even more time, full & functional repeat & random, and the best part is it has fully customizable one, two, and three finger gestures so you can adjust volume, fast forward, pause, play, skip ahead a song, etc without having to even look down at the Ipod/Iphone....just swipe anywhere on the screen and it'll do what you programmmed.
I'd highly recommend this app to anyone who uses their Ipod while mobile...in the car, on a bicycle, running, etc.

  • How to set alarm on iPhone 5 to play music from a playlist?

I'd like to set alarm on my iPhone 5 to play music from a playlist or from a album in Music, i.e. when alarm goes off, it will play more than just one song like songs in a playlist. This setting option was present in my old iPods (iPod Classic and iPod 5th generation), but is not present in both new iPhone 5 and new iPod Touch. Or, does anyone know how to work around it? It would be nice to be woken up by one of my favorite playlists rather than having to listen to just one song over and over. Thank you. piamsakp

Tell Apple to add this ability:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
As far as the app goes, I don't Know, as I don't use it. Just know you need an app to do playlists.
